On President Obama’s birthday Russian students beam a laser show on the U.S. Embassy in Moscow showing him eating a banana

The Democrat Party sent out an email blast asking members to sign a birthday card for President Obama. It appears that  some Russian students got the email and decided to do something extra special for the President. They did a laser show and projected it on the wall of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Their laser show has gone viral.

According to the UK Mail Online, “Mr Obama has been widely attacked in Russia for America’s stance on the Ukraine crisis. Last week he announced sanctions on key sectors of the Russian economy in an attempt to put pressure on Russia to convince separatists in Ukraine to stop de-stabilising the eastern part of country. Yesterday Mr Obama said those U.S. and European sanctions ‘are working as intended’ and are creating a strain on the country’s economy.”

Russian President Putin retaliated by cutting off food imports from the United States and European Union. Forbes Magazine’s Tom Worstall provides the basic story:

Russia has escalated an economic battle set off by the crisis in Ukraine with a ban on all food imports from the U.S. and on fruit and vegetables from the European Union, dropping any pretense these might be for food safety reasons.

The import ban, reported by state news agency RIA Novosti on Wednesday, comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered retaliation for Western sanctions against Moscow.

Russia is a major buyer of European fruit and vegetables but ranks 23rd among buyers of food from the U.S., accounting for less than 1 percent of America’s farm exports.

Some have called this prank “racist” while others think the students are making the point that the U.S. and E.U. can keep their fruits and vegetables (pun intended). What do you think?
