Just shows you – gun laws simply disarm the honest. Criminals don’t care about the laws.
I agree. Taking our guns away will not stop anything. If you want to protect our schools: 1. Hire enough trained guards (ex cops or military) to adequately protect the size of the school. 2. Make sure all doors are locked from the outside, but can open from within. 3. Only have 2 open doors for the beginning of the school day, with an armed guard at each one. 4. Install metal detectors at each of the two doors. 5. Ban all backpacks. 6. Ban trench coats when too hot for a coat. 7. Make sure the administrative office is located by the front door with a good view so as to be able to see who is wanting in during the day before buzzing them in. 8. Make all students wear laniards with their names on them(sp??). 9. Make sure all teachers know in advance when there will be a fire drill so if someone gets in and pulls the alarm, they will know something else is going on. This has happened at least twice in school shootings to distract people. 10. Make sure there is a law in place that will allow a psychiatrist to contact authorities regarding a student with mental problems so it will be illegal for that student to have a firearm and their name will be in a nationwide database. This is called communication between all law enforcement agencies across the entire United States.
One thing you can be sure of, ie you can take all legal guns away from law abiding citizens, but you will never stop the criminals from acquiring them. Chicago has one of the toughest, strictest gun laws of any city in the United States, but the most crimes. Hey Chicago, how is that gun law working out for you???? Also, anyone who needs protection (such as our US government officials as well as state officials, Hollywood stars, professional athletes, etc.) will all have armed bodyguards. The rest of us poor souls will be at the mercy of the criminals with no way to protect ourselves. Maybe we should ban automobiles/trucks so the criminal or terrorists can’t drive into a crowd and kill and injure dozens of people. Maybe we should ban knives, pressure cookers, any materials that are needed to make bombs. I could go on all night.
I guess my real point is that banning guns will not protect our children in school or anyone anywhere else as long as the criminals (who could give a rip about our laws) have guns.
The stats for Chicago are wrong. FBI indicates 500 for Chicago in 2012.
