THE ENEMY WITHIN: Pro-Hamas rally in Sarasota, Florida Shouts ‘Intifada’

There is an enemy within America bent on supporting the terrorists in Hamas. They use the myth that they are supporting Palestine, which was always called Judea.

The idea of a Palestine was created out of whole cloth by Yassar Arafat and the Soviet KGB.

The KGB wanted to create a new group of fake “underdogs” to wipe out Israel and replace her with a Muslim state.

Palestine, and the palestinian people are both myths. They are merely Arabs.

As President John F. Kennedy said, “For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie—deliberate, contrived and dishonest—but the myth—persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears.

WATCH: THE ENEMY WITHIN: Pro-Hamas rally in Sarasota, Florida

In order for these pro-Hamas terrorist sympathizers to hold their rally the City commission of Sarasota, Florida had to approve it.

BTW, very near where these Hamas lovers are standing is the statue Unconditional Surrender, a.k.a. the Kissing Sailor, donated to the City of Sarasota by a WWII veteran.

Time-lapse video of visitors to the iconic sculpture of Unconditional Surrender.

In 2010 the sculpture “Unconditional Surrender” was purchased by Jack Curran, a WW II Navy veteran, and with support from numerous Sarasota veterans and patriotic organizations. Mr. Curran was able to gift the sculpture to the City of Sarasota at a personal cost of $500,000.  The full intent of Mr. Curran was that the statue remain on Sarasota’s bay front.

Today we have “the enemy within” showing support for the terrorist organization Hamas and shouting “intifada.” The Arabic word “Intifada” translates to “uprising” or “shaking off.”

It has been used to describe during periods of intense Hamas protests against Israel, now in Sarasota, Florida.

Remember what President Abraham Lincoln said, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Allowing these supports of an intifada against America to protest anywhere in America is at least a travesty, and borders on treason.

Florida Voters Back Abortion Amendment and Trump

A new poll is reporting that nearly half of voters in the Sunshine State plan to support a constitutional amendment guaranteeing a “right” to abortion. An Emerson College survey released on Thursday found that 42% of Florida voters intend to vote “Yes” on a “Amendment 4” this November, enshrining a right to abortion into the state’s constitution. Twenty-five percent of voters intend to vote “No,” and 32% of voters are unsure which way they will vote. The ballot initiative requires at least 60% support in order to pass.

A majority (56%) of Democrats and a plurality (44%) of Independents plan to vote “Yes.” Following former President Donald Trump’s recently-announced opposition to federal pro-life protections, Florida Republicans are more divided on the issue: 36% plan to vote against the abortion amendment, 30% plan to support it, and 34% are unsure.

Additionally, nearly 60% of Florida voters reported that the pro-life law banning abortion after six weeks — slated to go into effect next month after the state’s Supreme Court upheld a related 15-week abortion ban — is “too strict,” 28% said the law is “about right,” and 15% said it’s “not strict enough.” The previous 15-week ban enjoyed marginally more support, with only 43% saying it’s “too strict,” 36% saying it’s “about right,” and 21% saying it’s “not strict enough.”

Election data analyst Michael Pruser posted on social media, “I don’t think a pro-Republican position has a chance of clearing 60% in Florida, let alone an anti-Republican one. What wouldn’t pass in Kansas and Ohio during off-year special turnout will almost assuredly not pass in Florida during a Presidential year [with] Trump on the top of the ticket.”

Anticipating nearly 11 million voters (4.5 million Republicans, 3.55 million Democrats, and 2.85 million Independents) to turn out in November, Pruser explained, “To make 60% work, you’ll need a share of about 23% Republican[s]/95% Democrat[s]/77% Independent[s] to vote YES (which is always harder than NO). This gives you a total of 6,554,500 votes and a winning percentage of 60.13%.” He added, “You can also bet that [Florida’s Republican governor Ron] DeSantis will do what [Democratic Kansas governor] Laura Kelly and [Republican Ohio governor] Mike DeWine didn’t — use his office’s full weight against the amendment.”

Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, argued before the Florida Supreme Court in favor of pro-life laws. In comments to The Washington Stand, he warned that “Amendment 4” would be challenged even if passed, saying, “There are constitutional challenges that I think are available.”

In addition to questions of both fraudulent signatures in putting the proposed amendment on the ballot and fraudulent votes in potentially passing the amendment this November, Staver noted, “The Florida legislature has — for many, many years — used the terms ‘unborn child’ and ‘unborn person.’” For example, Florida law dictates that if a woman is killed and her unborn child dies as a result, the killer could be charged with double homicide. Similarly, if a will leaves an estate to the deceased’s children or grandchildren, Florida law understands that to include unborn children or grandchildren. “In all these other areas of law,” Staver said, “unborn children have been recognized as legal persons. Consequently, if this were to pass, we would bring a case to the Florida Supreme Court to recognize the rights of an unborn child which already exist in the constitution which supersede this abortion amendment.”

Referring to Republicans who have begun backing away from pro-life messaging in the wake of Trump’s announcement earlier this week, Staver said, “Politicians should stand for life, not run from it. The right to life is the right of all rights, without which there is no other right. Politicians need to stand for life, not run from it.” He continued, “There are some things that transcend geographical boundaries and political parties and time, and the right to life is fundamental among those.” Staver also compared the issue of abortion to the issue of slavery, saying that neither was a matter of “states’ rights” but of universal morality.

The Emerson College survey also found that a majority (51%) of Florida voters back Trump for president, while only 38% support incumbent Joe Biden, with 11% undecided. When undecided voters were asked which candidate they lean toward supporting, Trump’s support shot up to 56% and Biden’s to 44%. Emerson College explained, “Among Biden voters, 32% support him because they dislike Trump, 24% because they like Biden, 19% care about an issue, and 14% support their party’s candidate. Among Trump voters, 31% support him because they care about an issue, 28% because they like Trump, 16% because they dislike Biden, and 14% support their party’s candidate.”

Florida voters ranked the economy as their top issue of concern (27%), followed by housing (16%), immigration (14%), and abortion (10%). Emerson College noted, “The percentage of voters who marked abortion access as their top issue is four points higher in Florida than in the most recent national poll (6%).”

Trump Blows Biden Out Of The Water With Record-Setting Palm Beach Fundraiser

Former President Donald Trump brought in over $50.5 million at a campaign fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday evening, the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced.

The haul far out-paces that of President Joe Biden’s $26 million he brought in at a ritzy New York City fundraiser on March 28 alongside former Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, as well as various other celebrities. Trump’s fundraising event broke “every fundraising record in history for a Republican or Democrat,” according to the RNC’s press release.

“Tonight will be an incredible night for President Trump and the Republican Party, raising an astounding $50.5 million,” Trump campaign senior advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a statement. “Meanwhile, after locking up the nomination in one of the fastest primaries in modern political history, Donald J. Trump is winning poll after poll and proving that the enthusiasm is on his side. It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5.”

The fundraising event follows the Trump campaign, the RNC and its affiliated joint fundraising committees raking in over $65.6 million in March, ending the month with $93.1 million on hand.

“The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe,” RNC Chair Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump said in a statement. “The Republican Party is united behind the effort to elect President Donald J. Trump, and Americans are lining up to join our movement and retire Crooked Joe Biden once and for all.”

Biden’s campaign announced earlier on Saturday that it raised $90 million in March, and entered April with more than double that of the Republicans’ cash on hand at $192 million.

Trump continues to lead Biden narrowly in national and battleground state polling, according to the RealClearPolitics averages. The only swing state Biden is ahead of Trump in is Pennsylvania, where the president currently has a 0.1-point lead.

Biden’s campaign did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

‘Border Needs To Be Closed’: Voter Gives MSNBC Host Earful On Immigration

A Florida voter told MSNBC host Jose Diaz-Balart that not closing the southern border was “unsafe” for the country in an interview that aired Wednesday.

President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign claimed Florida was “winnable” in November’s general election, citing a Florida Supreme Court ruling that allowed a law restricting abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy to take effect, according to NBC News. Diaz-Balart asked voters in Florida about their views on the upcoming election and what they would say to President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, eliciting an impassioned response from a Miami woman.

WATCH:

“I think the southern border needs to be closed,” the voter, a young Hispanic woman, told Diaz-Balart. “I think it is unsafe for our country. I would love to believe the idea that everybody that is crossing the southern border is doing so in search of the American dream, but that’s not true.”

“I do agree with the wall. I think it makes sense,” the voter continued. “I think you lock your doors at night to make your house safe. I think we need some kind of measure to keep our border safe as well.”

Trump held leads of 20% among voters in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin when it came to handling immigration and the economy, according to a poll conducted by The Wall Street Journal from March 17-24.

Former President Donald Trump and other Republicans have highlighted crimes committed by illegal immigrants after the murder of nursing student Laken Riley, blaming President Joe Biden for reversing multiple Trump border policies during his first days in office. Riley’s alleged killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, an immigrant from Venezuela who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally, was arrested by University of Georgia police and charged with murdering the 22-year-old nursing student on Feb. 23.

According to data released by United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 849,469 illegal immigrants have been encountered to date in fiscal year 2024, following 2,045,838 encounters in fiscal year 2023, 2,206,436 encounters in fiscal year 2022 and 1,659,206 in fiscal year 2021.

FLORIDA: Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Legislation to End the Squatters Scam & Protect Homeowners

In a March 27, 2024 Newsweek article titled Squatter Demands $190,000 From Homeowner it was reported that,

A squatter in Georgia recently demanded $190,000 from a landowner in response to eviction attempts.

On Wednesday, David Morris, an Atlanta property owner, said on Fox & Friends that before the COVID-19 pandemic, he ran a non-profit and allowed squatters to live on his nine acres of land for free, but he recently attempted to have these individuals evicted.

[ … ]

Morris said that he’s spent $10,000 on cleanup crews across his property as he continues his eviction attempts.

Well this won’t fly in the Free State of Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation on March 27th that ends this scam and protects homeowners and their property.

WATCH:

In a March 23, 2024 REASON.COM article titled Squatters’ Rights Laws Violate the Takings Clause, reports,

Where these laws allow squatters to occupy houses without the owner’s consent, they qualify as takings of private property that require payment of compensation under the Fifth Amendment.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of media coverage of squatters’ rights laws that sometimes have the effect of blocking property owners from removing trespassers who occupy their houses without the owners’ permission. Newsweek describes some highly publicized recent cases:

A recent string of incidents in Georgia, New York and Washington has brought squatting, the practice of occupying someone else’s property without their consent, into the spotlight.

In Washington, a squatter named Sang Kim made headlines after preventing Jaskaran Singh, a landlord, from possessing his $2 million property following Kim’s refusal to pay rent for two years.

Earlier in March, a New York property owner was arrested over unlawful eviction after confronting a group of alleged squatters who had taken over her deceased parents’ home in Flushing, Queens, ABC 7 reported. While the woman held the property’s deed, one man said he was on a lease for the house—which meant the property owner was barred from kicking him out [he, in fact, did not actually have a lease].

That same month, David Morris, a landlord in Atlanta, told Fox 5 of a group of squatters who were preventing him from building affordable housing on his nine-acre land and whom he was unable to remove because of a moratorium on evictions.

Morris told the outlet he had agreed to let four people stay on the land without paying rent about 10 years ago, but that he found the number of people occupying the property had grown to about “30 campers.” Though the squatters were taken away from the land, Morris said he spent $10,000 to clean up their garbage.

John Stossel of Reason made a video focusing on the New York case.

As often happens when an issue attracts media attention, it is hard to tell from early reports how widespread the issue actually is. But even a few cases of successful squatting may be problematic, because they could incentivize imitation. Media attention could accelerate that process.

Ideally, state and local governments should make it easy for property owners to swiftly remove squatters, and should subject the trespassers to civil and criminal sanctions. But where they instead facilitate this violation of property rights, the laws that do so violate the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment, which requires payment of “just compensation” whenever the government takes “private property.”

This illegal practice is spreading in blue states and in blue areas in red states.

We the people cannot stand by and see our families, our property, and our freedoms taken away from us by squatters, some of whom are illegal aliens.

Enough is enough.

Jordanian man arrested in Florida for antisemitic threats against Orthodox Jews

Jerusalem Post, March 10, 2024:

A man in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, is under investigation for what authorities are calling antisemitic attacks, as reported by Local 10 News.

Mohamed Al Saccal, 39, has been accused of using a sharp object, described by some victims as a dagger, to threaten Orthodox Jews in the community.

According to Sgt. Brain Schnell, this incident is part of a disturbing trend of harassment targeting members of the Jewish community over the past three days.

Al Saccal allegedly chased a couple on their way to a synagogue along Collins Avenue, yelling antisemitic sentiments and threatening their lives.

According to the report, Al Saccal, a resident of Sunny Isles Beach born in Jordan, is currently in custody, facing charges of aggravated assault.

Authorities are considering upgrading these charges to hate crimes in light of the nature of his actions….

VIDEO: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Speaks About Release of Jeffrey Epstein’s Secret Grand Jury Testimony

In a Business Insider column titled “DeSantis signs law to release records that could explain why Jeffrey Epstein got minimal charges in Florida and  report,

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bipartisan bill into law that unearth more Jeffrey Epstein records.
  • The law will allow for the release of records from a 2006 Florida grand jury.
  • Prosecutors allowed Epstein to plead guilty to only a single prostitution solicitation charge.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday signed a bipartisan bill into law that could finally answer the lingering questions about 2006 grand jury probe that charged Jeffrey Epstein with just one criminal count.

“This is long overdue, but, again, we feel that we just can’t turn a blind eye,” DeSantis said shortly before signing HB 117 into law at a ceremony in Palm Beach. The law goes into effect July 1.

A Palm Beach grand jury investigation, which resulted in just one criminal count, of prostitution solicitation, has long been at the center of controversy for allowing Epstein to escape accountability for raping and sexually abusing girls.

Prosecutors decided to bring just a single victim before the grand jury even though law enforcement had concluded that Epstein sexually abused more than 30 girls, according to Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown’s book “Perversion of Justice.” A compensation program established following Epstein’s death identified 136 of his victims. More recent litigation, against banks that were alleged to facilitate Epstein’s sex-trafficking, put the figure at closer to 200 victims.

Miami imam: ‘I am here to convert Americans,’ if America becomes majority-Muslim, we will impose Sharia

This effort is going on now all over the U.S., and none of the major churches have any response, or prepare their young people in any way to withstand the appeal of dawah.

“Miami Imam Dr. Fadi Kablawi: We Are Not Here To Kill Anyone; If We Can Take Your Country And Implement Shari’a law, We Will Do It, But Only According To Your Laws, By Becoming The Majority; I Am Here To Convert America,” MEMRI, January 26, 2024:

Dr. Fadi Kablawi said in a January 26, 2024 Friday sermon at Masjid As Sunna An Nabawiyyah North Miami, which was streamed live on Facebook that Zionism is a problem for the whole world. He said that if it serves their interests, “those sociopaths” will do what they are doing to the Palestinians in Gaza to the Christians, Chinese, Germans, and Americans. Dr. Kablawi said that they have to create “scenarios” like 9/11, assassinations, or explosions around the world, “so they can come and kill us.” He said that Muslims do not wish to kill any Americans or to take over their country. However, Dr. Kablawi said, if the U.S. becomes a Muslim majority country, the citizens would choose to implement shari’a law. He added: “I am here [in the U.S.], so I can covert America.”

Dr. Fadi Kablawi: “Those enemies of human beings, if they do it to the Palestinians in Gaza, they will do it to you if they need to.

[…]

“This is who they are, sociopaths. They will do that to any other person if they just reach a point that they are convinced that it is for their interests. They will do it to the Christians, they will do it to the Chinese, they will do it to the Americans, they will do it to the Germans… By Allah, they will do it to anybody. With Muslims, they have extra reasons to do it. They will do it to everybody.

“So that sign here on the Golden Glades, when you leave… that Hamas is not only your problem or something… It’s your problem too… Hamas is your problem too. Did you see the language? Hamas is going to finish Israel, and they are going to start going to Europe and America. It is going to take a long time, digging a tunnel under the Atlantic Ocean, dude.

“But anyway, the idea is scare tactics, ‘it is your problem too.’ You know who is your problem too? Zionism is the problem of the world. Take it from me. Go back and read their history, learn their history. Who did assassinations all over the world? Who blew up buildings all over the world? Who blew up American ships? Who did? Hamas or the Mossad? Who blew up [the World Trade Center] on 9/11? Oh…

[…]

“By Allah, oh brothers, we had nothing to do with it, and they will see it. They have to create scenarios like this, so they can come and kill us. Most Americans are naïve and have no clue. All they are worried about is the Super Bowl. We need to change that, we need to propagate that, and change it with people around us.

“Open your mind, we are not here to kill anybody. We are not here to hurt anybody, we don’t want to take over your country. If we can, we will take it, but with means that the law allows us. Here, we are going to make da’wa to the people… Like the guy who emailed me, some guy, Brad Jennings… [He wrote:] ‘Do you want to shari’a laws in America?’ I said if America becomes a majority Muslim [country] then inshallah, we will choose to implement shari’a.

[…]

“Then he says: ‘Go to Gaza, they need dental work.’ I said that there are enough dentists in Gaza, but I am here so I can convert Americans.”

Ron DeSantis Suspends Presidential Campaign, Endorses Trump

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Sunday that he will be suspending his presidential campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump to be the GOP nominee in 2024.

DeSantis made the announcement in a video posted on Twitter, with a caption reading “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” In the video he explains his decision to drop out and says Trump will be the best person to take on President Joe Biden.

“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance. They watched his presidency get stymied by relentless resistance and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him. While I have had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear,” he says in the video.

“I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear — a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism — that Nikki Haley represents,” he adds.

WATCH:

The New Hampshire primary is Tuesday. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley remains in the race.

Haley offered her well-wishes to DeSantis during a campaign event in New Hampshire.

“He ran a great race, he’s been a good governor, and we wish him well. Having said that, it’s now one fella and one lady left. There were fourteen people in this race, there were a lot of fellas. All the fellas are out, except for this one. And this comes down to, ‘What do you want?’ Do you want more of the same or do you want something new?”

Donald Trump had predicted DeSantis would end his campaign after learning he was canceling media appearances.

“That’s a big deal. He’s canceling everything,” Trump said during a Saturday interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier. “History says that’s usually not a good sign for a campaign, so I see he’s, probably, getting out. Look, he did very poorly, although he did much better than Nikki — quite a bit better than Nikki in Iowa. I would think he’s getting out. I don’t see a path. I don’t see a path for her either. ”

The GOP frontrunner “officially retired” the nickname of his rival Sunday.

The Trump campaign released a statement Sunday saying they were “honored” by the Florida governor’s endorsement, before calling on “all Republicans to rally behind President Trump.”

At a Rochester, New Hampshire rally Sunday night, former President Trump offered his congratulations to his former rival “for running a great campaign for president” and thanked him for his endorsement before urging supporters to unite to “defeat Crooked Joe Biden.”

(This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.)

FLORIDA: Governor Ron DeSantis Shuts Down Terror-Linked ‘Students for Justice in Palestine’

For those of us who have covered this terror group for years, this move is long overdue. Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) is a vicious hate group that supports Jewish genocide and Islamic savagery.

“Students for Justice in Palestine is a well-organized and well-financed festering hate group with chapters in the country’s most elite colleges. Its bigotry operates with the consent of administrators and faculty. Its speakers promote the murder of Jews and the denial of the Holocaust while their appearances are funded with student fees. Its chapters have been sanctioned and condemned for their bigoted activities, but no university has been willing to clearly and consistently denounce this hate group’s presence on campus.” (more here)

Now, Governor Ron DeSantis directed the chancellor of the State University System of Florida to deactivate the “Students for Justice in Palestine” group after it was revealed they sent out a “toolkit” inviting members to aid Hamas in their Operation Al-Aqsa Flood terrorist attacks. It is illegal in Florida to provide material support to foreign terror groups.

  • SJP  is a terror-supporting, antisemitic network that harasses and intimidates Jewish students who support Israel and operates with autonomy and impunity at scores of colleges and universities across the United States.
  • SJP’s founders, financial patrons and ideological supporters have been linked to Islamic and Palestinian terror organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Marxist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

SJP’S Terror links, violence, bigotry and intimidation on U.S. Campuses

Discover the Networks:

SJP’s principal founder, Hatem Bazian—whose views and agendas will be discussed at greater length later in this pamphlet—has quoted approvingly from a famous Islamic hadith which calls for the violent slaughter of Jews and which appears in Hamas’s founding charter. He once spoke at a fundraising dinner for KindHearts for Charitable Humanitarian Development, a Hamasfront group that the U.S. government later shut down due to the organization’s ties to Islamic terrorism. On another occasion, Bazian portrayed Hamas as “a classical anti-colonial nationalist and religious guerrilla movement.” And he described Hamas’s victory in the 2006 Gaza elections as “a monumental event.”

The significance of Bazian’s—and SJP’s—affinity for Hamas becomes especially apparent when we contemplate the grotesque nature of the values for which that organization stands. Consider, for instance, the fact that Hamas’s aforementioned founding charter denounces “the Nazism of the Jews” and states explicitly that: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it”; peace initiatives “are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement”; “there is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad”; and “war for the sake of Allah” is a noble venture that requires the faithful to “assault and kill” on a massive scale.

Notwithstanding Hamas’s calls for mass murder and genocide, the website of SJP’s UC Berkeley chapter describes Hamas not as a terrorist group but rather as “a vast social organization” that “provides schools, medical care, and day care for a number of Palestinians who otherwise live difficult lives”; a group with a “clean record as far as domestic corruption in governance [is] concerned”; and an entity whose “officials have often stated that they are ready for a long-term truce with Israel during which time final status negotiations can occur.” SJP does make a pro forma acknowledgment that “Hamas has conducted numerous deadly attacks on Israeli civilians” and “committed numerous human rights abuses against Palestinians,” but then quickly draws a moral equivalence between Hamas’s deeds and “the racism and discrimination underlying the policies and laws of the state of Israel.”

It is commonplace for SJP’s rank-and-file members to support Islamic terrorism….

Florida County Republican Registrations Report—September 2023

Note: the registrations numbers in this writing refer to active registrations, a subset of total registrations.

Florida Republicans continue the trend of making relative gains in voter registrations as Republican registrations relative to Democrat registrations increased by 25,445 registrations in August and by 300,518 registrations since the book closing for the 2022 general election. Florida Republicans now have a 606,468 relative registrations advantage over the Democrats. Republican registrations were 37.51% of total registrations and Republicans now enjoy a 4.46% of total registrations advantage over the Democrats (see attached tables).

The Democrats lost 62,986 additional registrations in June, 369,353 registrations since the 2022 book closing, and 701,278 registrations since the 2020 election. The Republican registrations decreased by 37,541 in June, and the number of registrations which are neither Republican nor Democrat decreased by 69,783 registrations in August (see chart).

Every Florida County has had a gain in the Republican percentage of total registrations since the 2022 election (see Table 3)!

Note: There have been some relatively large shrinkages in the number of registrations in Florida Counties. The law was changed to make it easier to shift voters into the inactive voter category, a category where the process of removing voters from the voter rolls is initiated. The decreases in the number of registrations should end when the supervisors of elections complete the job of making the transfers in accordance with the new measures.

The Republican Main Thing

“The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.” — Stephen R. Covey

Keeping the main thing the main thing is great advice. Republicans and Democrats have a differing “main thing” in the pursuit of getting people elected. Which party has the better “main thing”?

Democrats’ “main thing” is to improve their underlying political support by growing the relative numbers in the demographics which tend to vote Democrat. Secondary to this are the Democrat candidates and their associated campaigns. Republicans have chosen candidates, and their associated campaigns, as their “main thing”. Republicans lack any secondary efforts to grow the relative numbers in the demographics which tend to vote Republican.

The Democrats keep their focus on growing the relative numbers in the demographics that tend to vote Democrat and therefore have less concern about having poor candidates. The 2020 Presidential Election is a good example of this strategy. Their poor candidate won the election. They had a similar situation in a 2022 national senate race in Pennsylvania.

This inability of Republicans to win with their “main thing” has been demonstrated in recent losses in Georgia, a state previously carried by the Republican presidential candidate by 5.09% in 2016, 7.80% in 2012, and 5.2% in 2008. Republicans lost Georgia in the 2020 Presidential election by .23%, and two senate elections in a January 5th, 2021, runoff by margins of 1.22% and 2.08%. Republicans had nearly two years to come up with a formula to win back one of the lost Georgia senate seats in the 2022 general election. The Republicans, demonstrating their lack of strategy to grow their base, could not pull it off, losing the senate seat by 2.80%, a larger loss than the losses of early 2021!

A lack of strategy to grow the Republican base causes the Republican 2024 presidential primary effort to being akin to Nero fiddling while Rome burned. Resources which should be used by Republicans to implement strategies to grow the relative numbers in the demographics that tend to vote Republican are instead being used in self-seeking endeavors to become the next Republican presidential nominee. A Republican presidential nominee leading an effort to grow the Republican base by growing those demographics that tend to vote Republican is nowhere to be found!

The reason most Republicans vote Republican is that the Republican Pary is viewed as the party most supportive of The Constitution. The Constitution cannot stand without widespread political support. Republicans have not won the popular presidential vote since 2004, signaling decreasing political support for The Constitution. Republican factions, stuck in the Republican “main thing” paradigm of candidates and their campaigns, are failing to address this challenge to The Constitution.

The true reason for this loss of support for The Constitution is the Democrats having a better “main thing” strategy. The main thing for Republicans is to replace their “main thing” of having a laser focus on candidates, and their respective campaigns, with policy efforts which grow the relative numbers in demographics that tend to vote Republican!

A Much-Needed Republican Effort to Gain the Vote of the Alienated

A politically significant Democrat demographic is those voters who rent their housing. In times of rising home prices, rising interest rates and increasing rents, such as those being experienced since President Biden took office, it is easy to understand why those voters who rent their housing become alienated voters. Higher rents result in renters having less wealth. Homeowners who are shielded from higher interest rates owing to their possession of low-rate fixed interest rate mortgages obtained when interest rates were lower, see their wealth increase as the value of their homes increases and their mortgage payments stay the same.

The inability of renters to purchase housing are generally the result of policies championed by most Democrats, and too often by Republicans, yet it is the Democrats who gain politically by these policies as the Democrats are generally the recipients of the vote of the alienated! The demographic of those who rent their housing is an ever-growing demographic and the primary source of the political gains made by the Democrats over the past few decades! An indication of lost Republican market share is that Reagan lost one state in 1984, George H.W. Bush lost ten states in 1988, George W. Bush lost 20 states in 2000. And President Trump lost 25 states in 2020.

For Republicans to capture the vote of the alienated renter requires Republicans to champion polies that remove impediments to renters becoming homeowners. It should be pointed out to renters that Democrats politically prosper by making it difficult for renters of average means to purchase their first home!

Republican politicians also need to point out these housing related realities to Republican voters to build political support for lower rates of rentership. Republicans should not be seduced by the unearned wealth that homeowners gain by governmental policies that inhibit the real estate market from producing entry level owner-occupied housing.

Florida’s GOP Executive Committee Kills Loyalty Oath—Trump Will Be on the 2024 Ballot

On September 15th, 2023 Florida’s GOP Executive Committee during its quarterly meeting voted to remove and revoke their May 2023 rule change which would have, in effect, kept President Donald J. Trump off the Sunshine state’s ballot if he refused to sign the oath.

Florida resident President Donald J. Trump will now be on the 2024 Florida GOP primary ballot.

Is Governor Ron DeSantis a Hypocrite? Has he cleansed our public schools of the gay agenda? NOT!

On May 17th, 2023 Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Let Kids Be Kids bill package to protect Florida’s children from permanent mutilating surgical procedures, gender identity politics in schools, and attending sexually explicit adult performances.

HB 1069 protects students from having to declare their pronouns in school and expands parental rights in education by prohibiting classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in Pre-K through 8th grade.

Laura Loomer in the following tweet exposes the hypocrisy of “absentee” Governor DeSantis.

In a tweet with photos of a public school classrooms in Florida Laura Loomer wrote:

HYPOCRISY IN FLORIDA:

These photos were taken TODAY inside a PUBLIC middle school history classroom in Palm Beach County, Florida at Polo Park Middle School in Wellington, Florida. I’m told this is Mr. Rizzo’s class. The photos were sent to me by a parent whose child is being subjected to this sexual grooming. I thought @RonDeSantis  said he made it ILLEGAL in Florida for public schools to be indoctrinating minors with LGBTQ grooming materials? Looks like another lie by @RonDeSantis

Please call his office and ask why he is allowing for history teachers in Florida to groom children.

850-717-9337

Why is there a need to have multiple LGBTQ flags in a public school classroom? And why does @RonDeSantis  lie so much? I thought Florida is where “woke goes to die”? I thought @RonDeSantis  was a parental rights advocate? This is what my tax payer dollars are paying for?

Are you kidding me?

We have an #AbsenteeGovernor.

Here’s the tweet with photos:

We warned that Governor DeSantis’ would fail to implement the policies he signed because he is too busy running in the GOP primary election. He has given up on protecting our children in Florida’s public schools.

Loomer is right. DeSantis needs to be the Governor, not a candidate.

New College Makeover in Florida: A Case Study in Higher Ed Reform

New College in Florida has been making news lately, for all the right reasons. The Board of Trustees, with six new members appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), charts a new course for New College.

For context, a little history: New College was founded in 1960 as a private university. It was later absorbed into the University of Florida system, making it publicly funded. It’s a small college with fewer than 650 students in Sarasota. To be fair, New College is a highly rated public university in Florida and in the U.S. overall. It is an “honors college” with a contract model for course work. New College lets students design their own course of study. Course work is not “graded” per se, but professors provide narrative feedback to students through a timeline they determine together. New College had the highest number of Fulbright Scholars in 2020.

But that was then. New College is getting an overhaul. As described by Chris Rufo, among the changes underway at New College: “[President Richard] Corcoran has recruited a new team that is busy rebuilding the institutional capacity of the college, which had atrophied significantly under previous administrations, and is designing a new core curriculum, which will begin with an immersive first-year study of Homer’s ‘Odyssey’ and continue to provide a foundation based in logos (the cultivation of human reason) and techne (the cultivation of the applied arts).”

Student and faculty reaction to these changes is shockingly conservative for such a progressive bunch. It seems the new Board of Trustees’ pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful is a regressive and oppressive insult to many current students and faculty members. They are not on board with Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz’s goal: “It is our hope that New College of Florida will become Florida’s classical college, more along the lines of a Hillsdale of the South.”

Breathless news coverage of this development ranges from the unhinged to the comical. How dare any governor (no less a Republican governor) deign to make an impact on the taxpayer-funded colleges and universities? Who is the governor to attempt to oversee publicly funded universities, regardless of the overwhelming mandate to lead he is given by the voters?

The new trustees have begun the process of remaking New College into a classical college. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion dean and a “queer librarian” were among the first to go. Tenure for five professors approved by an interim president has been denied. The College is recruiting more students and placing more emphasis on athletics as an integral part of the new New College experience.

Bringing in a larger freshman class, one that is eagerly anticipating the new emphasis on classics over social justice warfare, is one of the best ways to ensure the success of the transition. These bright new students will be great ambassadors for the cause and will quickly outnumber the disgruntled — another smart move by a very capable group and New College President Richard Corcoran. Surely this effort to diversify both the curriculum of the college itself and the student body will prove more efficient than the DEI commissariat the Board of Trustees recently removed, as displayed by the 2022 tally of the student body composition.

The cancelation of Gender Studies seems to be the final straw for the old guard. NCF Freedom filed a lawsuit challenging the defunding of ideologically biased course offerings, among other perceived indignities. We look forward to updating you on this as events unfold. Pray for New College, for the leadership team, the faculty, staff, and students. Pray that God will be known there and everywhere.
