“Transsexual” Amendment: A Slap in the Face to Miami-Dade Residents

unnamed (5)

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson.

As quoted in Edmonson’s discrimination-legalizing amendment proposal, according to the American Psychological Association “transsexualism” is anyone’s “sense of being male, female, something other, or something in-between.” Many are asking: In between, what?

Last year, after broad public outrage that included a “Rally for Your Rights” at the Miami-Dade County Hall, with over three hundred people participating, Edmonson quietly withdrew her discriminatory amendment and pretended she had done nothing wrong.

Edmonson has reintroduced her amendment.

In response, Florida Christian Family Coalition issued the following statement:

“According to Miami-Dade Police, homicides have increased 3.61% in the last five years. Yet, despite people literally getting killed on the streets of Miami-Dade, Com. Edmonson is obsessed with legalizing discrimination by allowing employees to be fired from their jobs and employers to be sued if do not agree with allowing men to use women’s bathrooms, showers, dressing rooms and locker rooms or vice versa.

Miami-Dade residents need laws that protect them from discrimination and that of their families and neighbors. Pushing an amendment that injures millions of Miami-Dade residents is reckless and irresponsible.”
