Virginia: Will new voting machines prevent voter fraud?

RICHMOND, Virginia /PRNewswire/ — Facing a busy election year and worried about the reliability of aging voting systems, election officials across Virginia are moving quickly to find new solutions with long, dependable life spans.  Verity® Voting by Hart InterCivic, certified both federally and by Virginia’s State Board of Elections, is an increasingly popular choice.

Westmoreland and Northumberland Counties are the latest to choose Verity, the most technologically advanced election system available in the U.S. The purchases add momentum to the growing number of Virginia localities to choose Verity – some of them longtime Hart customers and some, like Westmoreland and Northumberland, new to the company.

“Verity has Virginia in its DNA. We have worked with many localities in the state for more than a decade,” saidPhillip Braithwaite, President and CEO of Hart InterCivic. “Our history and collaboration with existing users helped shape the advances we built into the new Verity solution.”

Northumberland and Westmoreland are on target to use Verity for spring elections, and equipment worries are no longer part of the equation,” Braithwaite pointed out. “County election officials will come up to speed quickly with training and support from Hart’s expert professional services team.”

Both Westmoreland and Northumberland chose the Verity Scan digital scanning device, allowing voters to scan their paper ballots in the polling place, and the Verity Touch Writer ballot marking device for voters with disabilities. The two devices share the same secure, compact hardware platform as well as a consistent user interface designed to be extremely easy to use.

Virginia localities are shopping for long-term election solutions to kick off the presidential election cycle,” said Braithwaite.  “Smart choices now will pay off for years to come. Verity is a smart choice.”
