Florida Medical Association Opposes Amendment 2

The Florida Medical Association voted to oppose ‘Medical’ Marijuana Amendment 2 appearing on the November 8th, 2016 ballot.

“The Florida Medical Association, representing more than 20,000 physicians in our state, once again passed a resolution in opposition to the so-called ‘medical’ marijuana measure,” said FMA CEO Tim Stapleton. “There is nothing medical about this proposal, and the lack of scientific evidence that pot is helpful in treating medical conditions is far from inclusive.”

The Florida Medical Association joins a multitude of national medical associations and organizations that support the FDA process and oppose the legalization of smoked marijuana as medicine such as: the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Glaucoma Society, American Lung Association, and the American Medical Association.

you want scientific evidence? read more. support rescheduling.
are you involved in ben goldacre’s alltrials.net campaign? if not, get involved.

as for your feigned concern for lungs, straw men arguments are inherently weak. we patients want medical cannabis to eat, use transdermally. again, please read more. educate yourself by reading something other than cme published by pharmaceutical reps or books not ghost written by them, as in the nemeroff scandal. if you’re unfamiliar here’s a link to begin some research:

& as for scientific evidence- please. as an MS patient who wasn’t diagnosed until after more than 35 years after onset & MS had long turned progressive, again please. i’ve seen the under belly of your science & it ain’t science. no more than ssdi is about disability.

    case in point:
dr: oh we can’t prescribe drug x;, its not an MS drug & its too dangerous.
3 months later after enrolling in same dr’s MS drug study
dr: oh you’re now starting drug x? we don’t want to list that in our drug study because we know drug x will improve your function.
REALLY? you wouldn’t prescribe a drug that you knew would improve my function. now you want that improvement to be credited to your MS drug. science, NOT. & as for dangerous? laughable. more dangerous than progressive MS? ha, read more- please.

or is it money? have you read the study regarding drops in rxes in medical marijuana states? & that’s just medicare patients !!

please educate yourselves. you do a disservice disseminating this misinformation. or is it willful blindness? what do you use to treat your trigeminal neuralgia, vagus neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, pudendal neuralgia …. ? i’m going to stop there & forget about spasticity. & sleep.

you people don’t care about patients – but you do make me sick.
