Why did the Community Foundation of Sarasota County fund ‘QUEERCON’ at the School of Arts and Sciences public school?
We recently had a number of concerns from our readers, including links, to troubling information about how public schools are grooming children to have sex with perverts, pederasts and pedophiles.
These concerns bring up the hot-button topic of public schools “socially engineering’ pupils to be something that is scientifically impossible—becoming non-binary.
This issue has led to a national movement to give parents control of what topics their children are taught in public schools. It has also led to legislation, in states like Florida, that makes it illegal to discuss sex or teach about sex in elementary schools. It has lead to the review of materials in public school media centers that are pornographic or depict sexual acts like sodomy.
Here are some examples of what we have received from concerned parents, community leaders and even Judicial Watch.
First, here’s an email we received from a community leader that was sent to his wife,
Hi Joni,
Hey, I don’t know if you’re aware of this event [‘QUEERCON’ hosted by ALSOYouth the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Manatee Community Foundation] that’s going to be held at one of our public charter schools this weekend [Saturday, September 17th, 2022], but it would be great if you guys could pray over this and we could get it to be stopped or just pray for protection over our children.
My husband is going to be there holding a sign that says ‘Jesus saves’ and passing out gospel tracts. If anyone wants to join him just give him a call at •••-•••-••••. He wrote the principal and she wrote back unapologetic about the event and claimed that it was something that would actually help prevent the higher rate of suicide in the LGBTQ community.
Anyway, I also wrote a few other faith leaders and would love to see if we can stop this event or at least present the truth to these kids.

Then we we received a link to an article titled Chris Rufo lays out how teachers’ unions plan to ‘queer up’ sex education in schools that included this video.
Who’s Funding These Queer Up Sex Education Events?
Using the QUEERCON event which was held at the School of Arts and Sciences a charter school in Sarasota County, we looked at the Queer Up Sex Education event’s sponsors. RE: The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Gulf Coast Community Foundation and the Manatee Community Foundation.
We decided to focus specifically on the School Board of Sarasota County, the Sarasota based organization ALSOYouth and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to understand who’s funding Queer Up Sex Education events and for how long.
What we learned was shocking.
After calling the Community Foundation of Sarasota County we learned that they have sponsored ALSOYouth and other LGBTQ organizations. In the case of ALSOYouth they have been sponsoring similar events since 1998.
As we began writing this column we were notified that Ranata Reeder, Vice President for Community Impact, that sponsored QUEERCON had resigned her position and will be replaced by Kirsten Russell. In an email the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Roxie Jerde, wrote,
I regret to inform you that Ranata Reeder is no longer with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. We are committed to the Knowledge & Equity department and will be evaluating the job profile in the coming weeks to refill the leadership role of this team. In the interim, Kirsten Russell will oversee the Knowledge & Equity team members. We informed our staff verbally of this change Monday morning, September 19 and have a goal of posting the position by the start of October.
The ALSOYouth homepage banner states, “Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth & Their Allies & Creating Inclusive Communities. Sarasota & Manatee.”
Notice how Roxie Jerde has said that Kirsten will oversee the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Knowledge & Equity team! Remember that the Democrat Party is committed to three social principles: diversity, equity and inclusion.
Note that the ALSOYouth homepage banner uses the words “empowering” and “inclusion”.
It appears that the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, ALSOYouth, and groups like Embracing Our Differences are like minded. For example Community Foundation of Sarasota County since 2004 has funded Embracing Our Differences courses for grades 6-8 public school students like “Diversity Redesigned” created by Brittany Braniger. The Embracing Our Differences website states,
Since 2004, more than 529,000 students have participated including 52,274 students during the 2021-2022 school year alone.
In addition to free field trips, Embracing Our Differences initiatives include workshops by nationally recognized educators and lesson plans connected to art appreciation, character building and Social Emotional Learning. All lesson plans are created under the supervision of Sarasota County School District’s curriculum team and fully incorporate Florida State Standards.
Follow The Money
During our research on how Queer Up Sex Education and events like QUEERCON are happening we learned, sadly, that it’s all about the money.
It appears some public schools are more than willing to take money to promote a diversity, equity and inclusion agenda funded by non-profits.
Interviews with some key local community leaders indicated that:
- It isn’t the Sarasota County Teachers Union, pushing or wanting Queer Up Sex Education, as they are an independent union and focused solely on defending their members.
- It isn’t the teachers, with some notable exceptions, teaching Queer Up Sex Education classes or wanting them in their classrooms.
- It wasn’t, necessarily, even the school board pushing these Queer Up Sex Education classes and events.
It was the Sarasota non-profits who are funding and promoting Queer Up Sex Education classes and events.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County gives out millions in grants yearly to promote a diversity, equity, inclusion and Queer Up Sex Education type lesson plans to the School Board.
Over the last two years, a number of school board meetings in Sarasota County have become heated over hot-button issues relating to parental rights, transparency and what is being taught in Sarasota County’s public schools. This lead to a major flipping to a pro-parent, pro-education, pro-learning new school board.
Currently the Sarasota County School Board is controlled by Jane Goodwin, Tom Edwards, and Shirley Brown three very liberally minded individuals. The only pro-parent members are Bridget Ziegler and Karen Rose. However, that will change on November 8th, 2022 when incumbents Bridget Ziegler and Karen Rose are re-sworn in along with two new school board members Tim Enos, the former Sarasota Schools police chief and longtime educator Robyn Marinelli.
The Sarasota County School Board, which was 3-2 leaning left, becomes a school board that will now be 4-1 leaning right thanks in part to the endorsement of these two incumbents and the two new members by Governor Ron DeSantis.
We will be looking for the new school board members to divest themselves of funding from non-profit organizations that promote Queer Up Sex Education. It is time for our public schools to boycott, divest and sanction those organizations who’s seeming intent and focus is on grooming our children for sex with perverts in the name of diversity, inclusion and equity (DIE).
The Bottom Line
Parents, grandparents and concerned citizens who turned out during the primary election and voted in this new school board have high expectations.
The tide is shifting toward empowering parents and and teaching students how to learn, not what to learn, i.e. indoctrinating them.
This will begin the fight at least in Sarasota County public schools of focusing on age appropriate materials in the classroom and school media centers.
This years school board election results sent a very clear message, enough is enough.
BTW, if Tara Tahmosh, the Principal of School of Arts and Sciences where QUEERCON was hosted, really cares about preventing a “higher rate of suicide in the LGBTQ community” then she would stop exposing her students to those who want to psychologically, emotionally, physically and spiritualty fundamentally transform her children into sodomites for the use and abuse of older male pedophiles, pederasts and perverts.
For you see these children know that what is being done to them is wrong, hurtful and harmful. Yet adults like Tahmosh are promoting, encouraging and defending this sinful behavior.
