The ‘Collapse of Traditional Education’ an interview with Tom Horne, Esq., Superintendent of Public Instruction in Arizona
Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, is my guest and regardless of the state in which you are residing, I believe you will find our conversation informative. Traditional education has collapsed across our country. Students graduating from High School (if they even make it that far) are not trained to be critical thinkers, for many they barely can read, write or spell. If you think I just made a sensational theatrical statement, you may wish to talk with business owners and managers of businesses desperately looking for employees. Besides the deficits I just mentioned, business owners/managers will share they are appalled at the poorly qualified applicants.
Tom Horne brings to the Office of Superintendent of Public Education an accomplished record in both education and law. A former Arizona Attorney General, he won cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and even the infamous Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Many years serving as a school board member and then President, Mr. Horne also served eight years as Arizona Superintendent of Public Education, prior to currently serving again after many pleaded for his return.
So regardless of which state in our union you reside, the conversation and Superintendent Horne’s answers from questions submitted from citizens and teachers, as well as a school board member, should prove enlightening and something you might be able to take away to your own state superintendent.
