The Euro-effetes stripped naked by Orbán
Here’s a name you probably aren’t hearing every day: Viktor Orban, Hungary’s “right-wing” prime minister. To the Euro-effetes, he is one of the unwashed. A Euro-deplorable, if you will.
So after he gave his introductory speech on Wednesday as Hungary assumes the rotating European presidency, he was trashed by European Commission president Ursula von der Leyden of Germany.
Van der Leyden called him a threat to democracy, who was “the back door” for foreign interference in European affairs, a not so subtle reference to Russia.
What irks Ursula is Urban’s refusal to hop on the US-EU-UK bandwagon of total war with Russia. Just as in Washington, the Euro-effetes believe that if you reject 100% support for Ukraine, you are Putin’s puppet.
She accused him of corruption, of secretly trading with Russia, and of quashing opposition voices inside Hungary.
Her political partner, Manfred Weber, heads the European People’s Party, a coalition of centrist parties from across the EU that currently rules the EU with an iron first. Weber accused Orban of ruling undemocratically, and then, made reference to him as a Nazi. That crossed a line for Orban – as it should.
He gathered his notes and roasted Van der Leyden, Weber, and their parties for sixteen minutes, as most of the EPP parliamentarians walked out.
You accuse me of ruling undemocratically? he said. My party won 45% in the last election. Yours, Mr. Weber, won just 30%. Who was the winner here?
He reminded them that minority parties in Hungary had all the committee seats and co-chairmanships to which they were entitled, whereas his party – and the European right in general – has been frozen out of European Parliament and its committee structure as if they didn’t exist.
He blasted the EU for its unconsidered support for Ukraine which has brought Europe on the brink of war with Russia. This is not a strategy, he said. Europe needs to think strategically.
And he responded to criticism that Hungary placed restrictions on individual rights in its constitution. No, he said, you can be whatever you want. But we do protect the family. And we do declare that marriage is between a man and a woman. These are Western values.
And then he mentioned the word that brought everyone to attention: corruption. This is a body “that has a great deal of experience with corruption, correct?” he said, to the laughter of his supporters.
He went on to reveal the huge jump in trade between Germany, France, and Spain with certain Central Asian republics, which he said were the back door for billions of dollars of oil purchases from Russia — $1 billion per month. “This is how French, German, and Spanish companies evade the sanctions,” he said.
I invite you to watch the whole 16 minute speech, which is subtitled in English. You’ll find it near the top of my twitter feed, @kentimmerman, or by going to @PM_ViktorOrban.
Van der Leyden and her allies will be wishing they had been more measured in their criticism of Orban, since he will now have the floor as European president for the next twelve months!
Earlier this week, CIA director Bill Burns told Congress that the United States has not seen any evidence that Iran’s leader has reversed his 2003 decision to suspend the nuclear weapons program.
It was an astonishing avowal, because it revealed a deep secret Burns and the CIA are very careful to conceal: the United States has no spies in Iran. (The Israelis do, but that’s a story for another week).
I know something about the lack of US spies in Iran, because I was debriefing defectors from Iranian intelligence the CIA refused to engage. So for many years, I secretly became an agent-runner for elements of the US intelligence community.
I talk about that work, and take readers along with me on reporting trips in dicey places around the globe in my new book, The Iran House: Tales of Revolution, Persecution, War, and Intrigue.
I also reveal secrets about Joe Biden’s scandalous ties to Iranian leaders that will roil this year’s elections. If you thought that both political parties share a patriotic love of America, think again. Team Biden was planning an October Surprise against Donald Trump in 2019 that nearly cost dozens of American lives.
Perhaps the biggest scandal was that the FBI knew all about it. I can say that because I made sure they had the documents revealing the treachery of Team Biden, which you can read for yourselves in my new book.
I talk about these subjects as well as Tony Blinken’s latest happy talk with our Asian allies worried about an expansionist China, in this week’s Prophecy Today Weekend. As always, you can listen live at 1 PM on Saturday on 104.9 FM or 550 AM in the Jacksonville, Florida, area, or by using the Jacksonville Way Radio app.
Yours in freedom.
