YES, THEY ARE THAT STUPID
YES, THEY ARE THAT STUPID
Almost every time, going back months, I think to myself, ‘they can’t really be this stupid, can they?’
Another voice answers almost immediately, ‘yes, Geoff, they are that stupid, wait and see.’
The latest iteration of highly public acts of liberal suicide struck this weekend. Trump supposedly “ignored” or “defied” a judge’s order preventing him from deporting 250 members of Tren de Aragua back to El Salvador.
It’s a constitutional crisis! They’ll almost certainly say. Yet again, though, the dividing line on this issue is a no-win for Dems. What’s more, this is a trap that appears to have been orchestrated from the start. Let’s walk through the timeline.
Trump signed an executive order Friday night invoking the Alien Enemies Act, “but intentionally didn’t advertise it,” reported Marc Caputo of Axios. By Saturday morning, Axios continued, the order had “leaked.”
Lol, do you see where this is going?
Two deportation flights with the gang members departed Saturday afternoon, prompting activist outcry. Just a few hours later, Saturday evening, an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) hearing resulted in a judge’s order to halt and return the flights.
That’s right, they wanted to bring the gang members back to the U.S.
Meanwhile, on the receiving end, El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele posted a motivational video of the prisoners arriving for intake at the prison.
He declared that among them were 23 leaders of MS-13 and that they would all be subjected to interrogation, the results of which will “finalize intelligence gathering [to] go after the last remnants of MS-13.”
The first reports on this whole operation said Trump had “defied” the order. That he’d simply decided not to divert the flights back to the U.S. Follow-up reporting said his advisers had decided that since the flight was already over international waters when the order came down, it was unnecessary to divert the plane. Thus “defied” turned into “ignored.”
As you can imagine, the fallout over this has been stunning.
The media is gearing up to howl over Trump supposedly flouting the order of a judge. The merits of the case, whether a wartime act of 1798 that hasn’t been invoked since World War II could be used in this context, are almost irrelevant.
(You can read about it and decide for yourself.)
Trump’s camp says they expect it to hit SCOTUS and expect to win, but it doesn’t matter. Win or lose, Trump wins. He wins, Dear Reader, for one simple reason: Perception.
No matter the pedantic legal detail, the story in the eyes of Americans will be that Trump is doing whatever he can to protect the country from foreign criminal gangs and liberals are using every letter of the law to prevent him from succeeding.
So as Americans watch vicious gang members forced to their knees to get their heads shaved, liberals meanwhile will be shrieking the legal equivalent of “FACT CHECK, FALSE!”
Right or wrong won’t matter. It’s political suicide of the highest order to demand the return of these men to American soil, and still, the left does appear to be at least that stupid.
Do losers sleep well at night knowing they were right on the details but wrong in history?
I guess we’ll see.
