WATCH: Las Vegas Man Charged in Arson Attack on Tesla Dealership Amid Rising Violence

A Las Vegas man has been charged in connection with a Molotov cocktail attack that set several Teslas ablaze at a dealership last week. Paul Hyon Kim, 36, was arrested on Wednesday by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department after at least five vehicles were reportedly set on fire on March 18 at a local Tesla Collision Center. His charges include destruction of property, arson, and possession of a fire device, according to jail records. In addition to local charges, Kim is also facing federal charges, as announced by Spencer Evans, the FBI agent-in-charge of the bureau’s Las Vegas office.

Evans condemned the attack, stating, “There’s nothing courageous or noble about firebombing private property and terrorizing your local community,” emphasizing the serious consequences Kim could face. Police reports indicate that Kim approached the Tesla facility in a black Hyundai Elantra, concealed his identity, and wore gloves and black clothing. He also allegedly damaged surveillance cameras with a rifle before the attack. The word “resist” was spray-painted on the front doors of the Tesla center, and an unlit Molotov cocktail was discovered in one of the damaged cars. Investigators have noted that Kim’s social media activity suggests potential affiliations with communist groups and Palestinian causes. His DNA was matched with samples collected from the crime scene.

A search of two vehicles linked to Kim, as well as his apartment, uncovered multiple firearms, including rifles, a shotgun, a handgun, and ammunition. This incident is part of a broader pattern of attacks on Tesla dealerships and factories in recent weeks, often linked to opposition against the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s role with the electric vehicle company.

In response to these violent incidents, the FBI has established a task force to coordinate investigative efforts with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
