OH, HILLARY

OH, HILLARY

Hillary Clinton is back and within seconds I’m reminded of Donald Trump’s crowning achievement: preventing her from being president.

Yes, Trump is 2-0 against Democrat women in presidential elections, and you might be tempted to think the more destructive of the two was Kamala. Harris was at least half as corrupt, sure, but wasn’t half as competent by even the most charitable measure. You also might be tempted to argue that Trump has achieved quite a bit since that moment, and that would be true, but nothing quite so timeline-altering as preventing Rodham Clinton from ascending.

In case you’re wondering, the reason we’re even discussing Hillary Clinton is because she described Republican women as “handmaiden(s) of the patriarchy” in a recent interview. The subject was whether or not she could get behind a female GOP president. As usual, women who oppose her might as well be things. Useless things. Things worthy of disposing.

Early in her career as a hanger on of more impressive people, she found herself at the whim of a man named Billy. He flew with Epstein. He philandered like a Kennedy. And when he was caught with his pants down, Hillary sought to destroy his accusers. She helped craft Billy’s approach to discrediting these women.

And when Monica Lewinsky finally came around, Hillary had enough.

Until, of course, someone needed bombing.

Yes, Rodham Clinton broke her eight month silent treatment campaign of old Billy in order to urge him to bomb someone. At the time, the cynics of politics thought the timing reeked of distraction from Mr. Clinton’s intern escapades. I wouldn’t be surprised if that were true. Rodham Clinton was a master of two birds, one stone.

She later voted for the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, and was a vicious supporter of the AUMF – the Authorization for Use of Military Force – the presidential go-around to avoid relying on Congress to fund and wage a war.

When she lost the primary in 2008, she got the consolation of secretary of state and promises from Obama that should he win a second term, he’d spend at least some of it setting the stage for her ascension. She turned her position as chief diplomat into a power laundering operation the likes of which America has never seen in its history.

Her Clinton Foundation, established in 2001, more than doubled in revenue the moment she took the seat. The total revenue from 2005 to 2008 was ~$500 million. During her time at State, that ballooned to ~$1.25 billion. Its stratospheric revenues hit their peak in 2014, just as she was gearing up to run for president, at $338 million.

And the skeptic in you might be saying, well, Geoff, she did a lot of good with that money. One of the things she set out to do was “rebuild Haiti.” How’d that go?

By 2017, following Clinton’s loss, revenue cratered to just a fraction of previous years, $50 million.

As far as corporate bribe machines go, kind of makes “10 percent for the big guy” look amateurish, eh?

And let’s not forget what she did in government during that tenure. Toppling Libya, missteps in Iraq, Egypt and Syria unleashed a wave of Muslim immigration the likes of which we have not seen in literally 1,000 years. It fundamentally reshaped the identity of our closest allies, and not for the better.

What about Ukraine? Um, well, we funded and organized a coup there as well. And how’d that play out?

How is she on free speech? If we allow it, we “lose control” she said just last year. She was speaking about mis- and disinformation on social media platforms. And what piece of disinformation was far and away the most damaging in modern American history? Not pizza dungeons or hacked voting machines or even disappearing commercial airplanes. Nope. Without a doubt, the most damaging disinformation in modern history was the Russiagate conspiracy.

Need I go on? Many of the messes Donald Trump now faces source back to either Hillary Clinton directly, or rooms she was in at the time.

Kamala Harris was a sideshow compared to her. Someone you might pay $5 to get a glimpse of at a traveling carnival in the 1980s, while Hillary was in the big tent. You pay full price or carnies break your hands or, worse, bury you out in the cornfields.

So yes, if I could look back on everything Donald Trump’s achieved, relegating Hillary Clinton to whining about “handmaidens” on irrelevant podcasts and channels like CNN is the real coup de grâce.

The country couldn’t be any more thankful for that, Don.
