VIDEO: An Iranian Woman Calls Out the Selective Outrage of the Western Left

An Iranian woman has posted a cri de coeur online which millions have now seen. She calls out the leftists in the West who spend their time denouncing Israel for being, they preposterously claim, a “settler-colonial apartheid genocidal” state. But they have said nary a word about the three-week-old popular uprising against the theocracy in Iran, where the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the Basij militia, and the regular police have been firing on unarmed protesters who have been calling for an end to the regime and “Death to the Dictator” in 193 cities across Iran.

An Iranian woman has posted a sharp monologue on social media that has gone viral in recent days, accusing the global far left of moral double standards and selective outrage when it comes to Iran.

“Our suffering complicates their narrative,” she says in the video, arguing that acknowledging what is happening inside Iran would shatter the ideological fantasy many in the radical left have built for themselves.

According to her, “Everyone keeps asking the same question over and over: what’s wrong with the leftists? Why are they so noisy, why do they support the Gaza Strip, but remain completely silent when it comes to Iran?”

All over the Western world, the far left supports the terror group Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and denounces Israel for crimes it has not and will never commit — “war crimes” and “genocide” — because this is a safe way to indulge in antisemitism, which has proven to be a resilient mental pathology, reappearing after several decades when the memory of the Holocaust managed to keep it under control; now there is an epidemic of antisemitism in the West, much of it brought into the advanced countries by the millions of Muslim migrants who carry that antisemitism undeclared in their mental baggage. Its venom spreads and spreads.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani provides evidence of the far left’s moral squalor. He can find nothing good to say about the Jewish state. He endorses the chant “from the river to the sea/Palestine will be free,” which, rightly understood, is. call for the disappearance of Israel, with the expulsion or death of all of its Jews, and its replacement by a 23rd Arab state. He refuses to denounce the call to murder Jews everywhere, “Globalize the Intifada.” And when the protests started in Iran against the theocratic regime, he said nothing for more than two weeks. Finally, having remained silent for so long, and with his silence attracting a great deal of anguished criticism, he uttered not a full-throated denunciation of the Iranian regime, but a mild rebuke of the regime’s murders: “I absolutely do not support the way the Iranian government has responded to that,” Mamdani said. “I think that the Iranian government and every government should respect the right of people to express their political opinions and for people to be able to do so safely.”

Does that sound like the condemnations coming from America, Israel, Western Europe? No. Why didn’t he use such words as “condemn” or “denounce” or “abhor”? Why didn’t he denounce the regime for its mass-murder of unarmed protesters?

And why did Mamdani take more than two weeks to utter this mildest of criticisms of the Iranian regime, the regime that sends out men armed with machine guns to mow down protesters — and to date is reported to have killed 20,000 of them? And why, when he finally did speak, and only after he was asked a direct question by a reporter in the pool, did he offer such a weak response, a generalized slap on the wrist that did not stick to Iran, but was meant to cover “every government” that failed to protect the right of its citizens to protest? And even that mild remark must have pained him to utter. For this “democratic socialist” has only one interest in the Middle East: not the wellbeing of its peoples, but the destruction of the one democratic state that exists in a sea of despotisms, because Israel, in Zohran Mamdani’s view, has no right to exist as a Jewish state.
