Fed UP? — Begin Running toward the Battle!
May I begin this commentary with heart-felt appreciation for the many emails I received thanking me for my last column, “I’m Fed UP — are You?”
So many kind remarks, so many encouragements to keeping going, and several asking, “what are we going to do about it?” Prayerfully this commentary will be a step toward answering that question. But may I remind you our freedom was fought by a minority of the colonists, about 1/3 while another third supported Mother England and the remaining third were content in their self-made bubble. This fact is not too far removed from where I think we are presently.
So…I encouraged each reader to seriously consider NOT waiting for another to start running toward the battle in your community, city, county or state. Others shall follow once they see someone running toward the battle and not remaining complacent. A well planned and funded assault on our small towns and communities, on otherwise content cities and schools is well underway. How many truly consider what is taking place on the Parks and Recreation Board, or Library Board, School Board, Town Council or City Council? The Marxists are moving quickly to fill these otherwise “boring and insignificant” positions. How about Planning and Zoning board? Look around and I pray you come to realize the socialists and Islamic foot soldiers are moving in these directions.
What can you do? Stand and put together a few sincerely patriot friends who are not timid to ask the below mentioned questions I submit for your consideration. Stand and ask in a polite but most strong no-nonsense manner what I have given to you. It does not matter if the candidate claims to be a conservative. Ask away and strongly state you want an answer not political rhetoric or word salad. I have given you five questions with a sense of answer…ask at the candidate’s speech or “Meet N Greet.” You want answers that are clear and spell out the candidate’s true beliefs and values. Anything less is what has contributed to our being in the position we now face. Run toward the battle!
Question #1. What is the proper role of government?
An answer. Our Founders were clear that government was to reflect the will of the people. It is the people who give government its authority.
Question #2. As an elected (or appointed) official, you will be required to take an oath to uphold and preserve the Constitution of the United States. When was the last time you took a serious look at the Constitution? Can you identify one or two areas where the Constitution is being violated today?
Question #3. What are your views about public debt? What is your opinion of using debt and how it should be paid off?
An answer. Our Forefathers warned about debt; it should be paid by the generation that created it!
Question #4. What is your view on unalienable rights stated by Jefferson in the Declaration?
An answer. These are rights given by our Creator. They cannot be taken by man without coming under the judgement of God. The candidate’s answer will tell you much about his/her philosophy, values and adhering to our founding principles.
Question #5. Share your thoughts on: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
An answer. Solutions should be based on morality and virtue.
Elected leaders at all levels seem to have misplaced the truth that government derives its powers by consent of the governed; by We the People. So very many elected officials clearly appear to have misplaced, or outright ignored, that our Forefathers sought for elected office those who would represent the citizens first, not their own careers, and they would accomplish this as “Servant Leaders.”
