For two decades J. Robert Parkinson, Ph.D., was a member of the faculty of Northwestern University. He was formerly Dean of the Institute for Research at National Lewis University, and Director of Educational Research for Bell and Howell. He also served on the Governor’s staff in Illinois. He is the author of numerous articles and has authored ten books, one of which “How To Get People To Do Things Your Way”, has been translated into eight languages. His latest book is "REHEARSAL," a work of fiction. In late October, another book, titled "You Can't Push A String" will be released by Black Opal Books. In addition, he has been a consultant and trainer in effective communications for professional associations, government agencies, and private industry. In Chicago, he was host of the award-winning weekly radio program “A Point Well Taken” and a television series, “For Your Consideration”. He writes a weekly newspaper column, “Show and Tell” for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, focusing on business communications. With his wife, Eileen, he has written, hosted, and produced television documentaries under their company banner, TRIDENT Communications Group. They are permanent residents of Siesta Key.
