The Second Amendment Institute (SAI) was founded in April 2016 by individuals with a passion for the Second Amendment. To further enable growth, SAI reached out to Dick Heller, (U.S. Supreme Court, DC v. Heller 2008). He now serves on the Board of Directors.
After establishing a strong start-up team we worked with the Leadership Institute's guidance to begin developing relationships with students across America. As a result, SAI successfully launched "Students for Self-Defense" in October 2016.
Students for Self Defense now has more than a dozen college chapters, has recruited more than 2,000 students, and continues to grow.
The SAI team is closely affiliated with over twenty experts representing years of diversified experience in student activism, grassroots operations, fundraising, donor relations, and national non-profit work.
MISSION
The Second Amendment Institute educates, activates, and empowers individuals to be effectively mobilized for the Second Amendment through a national grassroots effort.
WHAT WE DO
The Second Amendment Institute's most important goal is to educate. In this way, SAI can combat attacks on all American's Constitutional right to bear arms, and aid in the prevention of inappropriate gun control measures.
Disseminating facts also exposes unjustified and incorrect rhetoric. By sharing the truth, SAI may also change the hearts and minds of gun control advocates.
Meanwhile, SAI remains hard at work recruiting the next generation of Second Amendment supporters, including those that stand behind strengthening self-defense policies on college campuses.
