I’ve been making the rounds through local political meetings lately and have met a lot of candidates for the November elections, everything from congressman, to county commissioner, to school board representative, to dog catcher. There’s a lot of new faces running for office, probably because they realize the citizens are fed up with the status quo. Interestingly, I noticed a lot of the new faces are not much better than the old faces.
I don’t care what party you’re in, there’s a certain level of “smarminess” associated with a politician running for office. Maybe it’s because the candidate is trying to appease everyone. You have to smile a lot, shake a lot of hands, and be a “Jolly Wally.” I don’t take these type of politicians seriously and I tend to wash my hands afterwards. They’re just plain “smarmy” if you ask me.
I’m generally disappointed in the types of questions we ask candidates. People tend to ask about their position of the catastrophe du jour. I tend to believe it’s rather easy to answer such a question in retrospect. It’s a lot harder to get them to give their opinion on what they would do in a future calamity; you tend to get vague generalities in this situation.
I don’t believe we are asking the candidates the right questions. As for me, I see this as an interview for a job (which it is). Consequently, we should ask questions about their skills, experience, and why they believe they are qualified for the job. For example, here are the typical questions I like to ask politicians:
“What is the biggest job you’ve ever had?”
“How many people have reported to you?”
“What kind of performance reviews have you had?”
“How do you accept criticism?”
“What is the biggest decision you have had to make in your professional career? How did you come to your decision?”
“What was the largest project you worked on in terms of money and people? What was your specific role in the project? What was the outcome (was it successful or a failure)?”
“How do you prepare a Feasibility Study? What steps do you go through?”
“What business skills do you possess? e.g., speaking, writing, negotiations, cost/benefit analysis, return on investment, etc.”
Again, if this sounds like a job interview, it is.
In a Republic, the masses elect people to serve office and in the process make their own decisions. Although they should listen to their constituents, they are not bound to follow popular opinion (which would be a pure Democracy). I therefore want to know if the candidate knows how to make a rational decision and has the proper character for the job.
I would much rather know the answer to these questions, then the latest public relations spin. We need more government officials with character than we need smarminess.

The history of blacks, and a “utopian vision” of society, did not start with the Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization’s Communist roots. Rather it started in the 1920s when the Soviet Union recognized the value of organizing the black community to fight against “economic and political inequalities.” Thus began the Soviet infiltration of the black community and its churches.
This Soviet movement has morphed into the current BLM’s plan, via anarchy, riots and tyranny, to divide Americans on the basis of race, color and creed. It has become the core of the Democrat Party’s platform of “social justice” using all means available, including violence.
The early 1920s saw an increased membership of African Americans in the Communist Party USA because it was a space for black intellectuals to convey dissatisfaction with economic and political inequalities. It strengthened other civic organizations, such as Langston Hughes’s League of Struggle for Negro Rights, and established forums where black intellectuals could air their concerns, such as the John Reed Club, to “win writers and artists to the revolution.”
The history of black Communists dates back to the 1930s when men like U.S. Communist Party leader Pettis Perry became a member of the International Labor Defense (ILD), the legal arm of the American Communist Party in 1932.
He [Perry] overcame his lack of formal education by memorizing Party speeches and resolutions and reading The Communist Manifesto, as well as works by Vladimir Lenin and W.E.B. DuBois.
The International Labor Defense was a legal advocacy organization established in 1925 in the United States as the American section of the Comintern’s International Red Aid network.

In the spring of 1922 “Big Bill” Haywood, former Wobbly leader turned bail-jumper and defector to Soviet Russia, made a proposal in Moscow to establish a new entity dedicated to the legal defense of political prisoners in the United States, given its level of activity. Representatives of the Communist Party of Poland in Soviet Russia had a similar need, and sought organized support for their jailed comrades in Poland. The Russian Society of Old Bolsheviks and Former Political Exiles and Prisoners, a group whose members had previously raised funds for the support of political prisoners in Tsarist times, acted upon these suggestions late in the summer of 1922. They passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a new international organization for the legal and economic support of left-wing political prisoners.
Black Communists and Their Soviet Slave Masters
Many black Communists saw that they were being used and turned against their Soviet Slave Masters. One of these was Manning Johnson. Manning Johnson published a book in May, 1958 titled “Color, Communism, And Common Sense.” Manning Johnson wrote:
Ten years I labored in the cause of Communism. I was a dedicated “comrade.” All my talents and efforts were zealously used to bring about the triumph of Communism in America and throughout the world. To me, the end of capitalism would mark the beginning of an interminable period of plenty, peace, prosperity and universal comradeship. All racial and class differences and conflicts would end forever after the liquidation of the capitalists, their government and their supporters. A world union of Soviet States under the hegemony of Russia would free and lead mankind on to Utopia.
[ … ]
My zeal, training, both theoretical and practical, combined with loyalty and willingness to sacrifice, changed me from a novice into a dedicated red—a professional revolutionist. Consequently, I climbed rapidly to the National Committee, the highest governing body of the Communist Party in America.
Being an idealist, I was sold this “bill of goods” by a Negro graduate of the Lenin Institute in Moscow.
Johnson continues:
I saw communism in all its naked cruelty, ruthlessness and utter contempt of Christian attributes and passions. And, too, I saw the low value placed upon human life, the total lack of respect for the dignity of man, the betrayal of trust, the terror of the Secret Police and the bloody hand of the assassin, during and since, those fateful years when I embraced communism.
In Chapter 2 SUBVERTING NEGRO CHURCHES Johnson wrote:
A large number of Negro ministers are all for the Communists. Some are prominent and influential; others are “run of the mill.” They in common believe that beating the racial drums is a short cut to prominence, money and the realization of personal ambitions even if the Negro masses are left prostrate and bleeding—expendables in the mad scramble for power.
Abner W. Berry, columnist in The Daily Worker, official organ of the Communist Party, recently praised these ministers as fulfilling their “historic role,” i.e., delivering the Negro into the hands of the Communists. Neither his pen nor his lips had such praise prior to the 1934-35 period. Then the Moscow line was clear.
The resolution on the Negro Question stated:
In the work among the Negroes, special attention should be paid to the role played by the churches and preachers who are acting on behalf of American imperialism. The Party must conduct a continuous and carefully worked out campaign among the Negro masses, sharpened primarily against the preachers and the churchmen, who are the agents of the oppressors of the Negro race.
All the instructions from Moscow at the time ordered reds to “combat the influence of the church” because the church, “by offering to the Negro worker and peasant for the miseries they are enduring in this world, compensation in heaven, are befogging the minds of the Negro workers and peasants, making them a helpless prey to capitalism and imperialism.”
From the Black Panther Party to Black Lives Matter – Communists One and All
The Black Panther Party (BPP) was founded on socialist/Communist principles and black nationalism. The Black Panther Party, originally the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, was a revolutionary socialist political organization founded by Marxist college students Bobby Seale and Huey Newton in October 1966 in Oakland, California. These same goals apply to Black Lives Matter. The leaders of BLM, like their fore bearers are Marxists.
Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a newly surfaced video from 2015 that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists” – making clear their movement’s ideological foundation, according to a report.
Cullors, 36, was the protégé of Eric Mann, former agitator of the Weather Underground domestic terror organization, and spent years absorbing the Marxist-Leninist ideology that shaped her worldview, Breitbart News reported.
CONCLUSION
As Manning Johnson wrote:
Stirring up race and class conflict is the basis of all discussion of the Communist Party’s work in the South. The evil genius, Stalin, and the other megalomaniacal leaders in Moscow ordered the use of all racial, economic and social differences, no matter how small or insignificant, to start local fires of discontent, conflict and revolt. “Who could tell which of these issues could start a general conflagration” that would sweep across the former Confederate States from Maryland to Texas?
This race and class conflict is now called “intersectionality.” It is being used by BLM, Antifa and the Democrat Party to divide and conquer America on the streets of cities such as Portland, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and even in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Manning Johnson understood what was happening during his time as a leader of CPUSA, “To sink their claws in, subvert and use the Negro people, Moscow must have loyal, dedicated, trained Negro professional revolutionists who can easily be manipulated, that is, made to follow the Party line.”
The end justifies the means for those members of BLM, who are clearly following the Communist, and Democrat, “Party line.”

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—Google has released a video in which one of the company’s representatives apologizes for anti-conservative bias, as revealed in a recent video obtained by Breitbart.
The representative issued a heartfelt apology toward conservative Google users while wearing a “Kill All Republicans” T-shirt throughout the video.
“We are so sorry that you fascist, conservative ingrates had to see that,” he said. “We want Google to be completely free from bias, even against Republicans who need to die violent deaths for disagreeing with us. That’s what inclusivity is all about.”
“It’s our mission that everyone be included, even hopelessly backward conservative people that we’d like to exterminate from the planet,” he added, before confirming that the company is in fact close to a breakthrough on technology to do just that.
At the end of the video, the representative smiles warmly and assures Google customers that the company will continue to strive for unbiased products and services, before the footage cuts to him beating a Trump supporter to death with a Chromebook.
So apparently it’s now a partisan value to be against pedophilia?
I was all for opposition to “Cuties,” a film that curiously thinks the best way to argue against sexualization of children is to … sexualize children. I saw it as a matter that united left, right, and center.
But apparently that’s too much to ask for in 2020.
Three years after the earthquake of the #MeToo movement, where Hollywood supposedly learned some lessons about consent and treating women well, the huge streaming service Netflix is vigorously defending “Cuties,” a movie that shows its female child actresses being sexually provocative.
To my surprise, the left seems to be gearing up either to defend Netflix, which recently added the French film to its library, or be quiet.
“The Creepy Conservative Obsession With Netflix’s Cuties, Explained,” sneered a Slate headline. (The writer, Sam Adams, helpfully went on to explain that if someone has good intentions, they can’t make pornography, which seems … not true?)
News site Axios bafflingly tied opposition to “Cuties” to a conspiracy theory, tweeting: “GOP politicians are jumpstarting a Netflix boycott in response to the film ‘Cuties,’ which denounces the hyper-sexualization of young girls on social media. Their stance is linked to a child sex trafficking conspiracy theory central to the QAnon movement.” (To its credit, Axios ultimately deleted the tweet and modified the news article to remove the baseless QAnon connection.)
And while conservative lawmakers, including Sens. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Josh Hawley, and Tom Cotton, have spoken out against the movie, an eerie silence emanates from liberal lawmakers.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, Christine Pelosi, tweeted, “Hi @netflix, from a customer and former ADA in SFDA’a Child Abuse-Sexual Assault Unit: “Cuties” hypersexualizes girls my daughter’s age no doubt to the delight of pedophiles like the ones I prosecuted. Cancel this, apologize, work with experts to heal your harm. #CancelNetflix.”
Hi @netflix, from a customer and former ADA in SFDA’a Child Abuse-Sexual Assault Unit: “Cuties” hypersexualizes girls my daughter’s age no doubt to the delight of pedophiles like the ones I prosecuted. Cancel this, apologize, work with experts to heal your harm. #CancelNetflix
But the House speaker herself has been silent on the matter. The Obamas, who have a reported multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix, also have been silent.
Apparently, the era of “silence is violence” is over, at least when it comes to saving our children from sexual exploitation.
But no! exclaims the liberal twitterati—you’re just being simple Puritans. Can’t you see the sophistication of this movie, and how it really illuminates the evil of exploiting children?
Frankly, no.
And frankly, the satire site Babylon Bee has had the best response to this argument:
Or as the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s Lina Nealon put it in a statement: “While we commend director Maïmouna Doucouré for exposing the very real threats to young girls having unfettered access to social media and the internet, we cannot condone the hypersexualization and exploitation of the young actresses themselves in order to make her point.”
So no, I haven’t seen “Cuties.” I haven’t even seen the trailer. In almost every previous such instance in my journalism career, I’ve strived to see something for myself before judging it.
But this is where I draw the line.
Just read the description of the movie from Variety, hardly an outlet belonging to the vast right-wing conspiracy:
In the film, the conflicted protagonist, Amy, and the Cuties perform dance routines in which they simulate sex, and in the scenes the camera shots focus on their crotch areas. It also portrays preteen characters in other sexual situations. For example, in one scene, Amy takes a picture of her genitals and then posts the photo on social media (although no explicit images are shown); earlier in the same scene, she makes a sexual come-on to her adult cousin to avoid getting punished for stealing his phone.
You know what? I’d like to go to my grave without ever seeing a child simulate sex.
And this is where it becomes clear Hollywood isn’t at all serious about #MeToo. On the Instagram account that appears to belong to the main actress of “Cuties,” Fathia Youssouf, it says she is 14 years old.
In an interview with Zora, which describes itself as a publication for women of color, the director herself refers to Youssouf and the other young actresses as children, saying, “I created a climate of trust between the children and myself.”
You know what children can’t do? Consent.
Before #MeToo careened off a cliff and became a politicized obsession with destroying the beer-swilling, possibly conservative Brett Kavanaugh, it was ostensibly a movement about recognizing that too often, women are pressured into sexual situations—particularly in Hollywood, which seemed to have missed the memo that women are people, too.
Of course, I had concerns about #MeToo: Due process remains vitally important, and idiotic mantras like “believe all women” help no one, including women. And I do not believe our legal system can—or should—attempt to punish people for all immoral actions.
But that doesn’t mean #MeToo was all wrong.
The scores of stories and anecdotes that poured out showed something was gravely wrong with our current sexual culture. A short story in The New Yorker, “Cat Person,” went viral after depicting a heroine who had unwanted sex simply because she didn’t want to come off as spoiled.
An unnamed women’s account of a horrible date with comedian Aziz Ansari (and his clumsy attempts to get sexual intimacy with her) similarly went viral. This spurred a debate about what was normal date behavior from a man and what was too far, as well as discussion about why women seemed so nervous to stand up for themselves and push back against unwanted sexual advances.
And as Hollywood actress after Hollywood actress came forward, it become clear that the liberal California elites weren’t practicing the feminism they endlessly preached.
For a brief, shining moment, it looked like we might be realizing that the current sexual climate—fueled by alcohol and glib about the effect on the human psyche of hookups with strangers—was perhaps not the optimal way to live.
But it was not to be.
And so now, supposedly years after we all learned how vital consent is and how consent cannot necessarily be given when there is an imbalance of power, we’re finding Hollywood defending a movie that required underage actresses to simulate sex.
How could these actresses consent to this? How could these minors have any idea of what they were agreeing to?
Even if Netflix does the right thing and cancels “Cuties,” the images of these girls being sexual will remain in dark corners of the internet—for all their lives.
Citing data from YipitData, Variety reported that Netflix cancellations were nearly eight times higher than usual on Saturday, when “#cancelNetflix” was trending on Twitter.
Good. Because if Netflix won’t do the right thing and end sexual exploitation of children because of public outcry, maybe it will if its bottom line gets hurt enough.
The left likes to talk a good game about being on the right side of history. But right now, as the left stays quiet about “Cuties,” it’s become clear that we will have conservatives to thank, not liberals, if sexual exploitation of children does not become the new normal of Hollywood.

“The American Constitution is, so far as I can see, the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.” So said 19th century British Prime Minister Sir William Gladstone.
September 17 marks the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the U. S. Constitution.
But some in our society might wonder—hasn’t this musty old document outlived its usefulness? Isn’t it arcane and irrelevant? Just the product of a bunch of rich white guys, and some of them were slave-owners. But, of course, the Constitution contained within the means by which slavery could one day be abolished. And it was.
Nonetheless, many today think the Constitution is out of date. During the recent protests and violence in the streets, some on the left have said things like, “F*** the Constitution.”
Billionaire George Soros has funded many attempts which, to put it gently, have frayed the edges of the Constitution.
In their 2010 book exposing George Soros, The Shadow Party, authors David Horowitz and Richard Poe tell of one such Soros attempt against the Constitution. The radical billionaire funded a symposium at Yale Law School in 2005, with the express purpose of initiating a fundamental transformation of the Constitution by this present year.
Horowitz and Poe note, “Yale Law School hosted a conference called, ‘The Constitution in 2020,’ promoted as an effort to produce ‘a progressive vision of what the Constitution ought to be.’” They opine, “We might think of it as a Shadow Constitutional Convention.” At the conference, participants referred repeatedly to the “evolutionary character of constitutional law.”
The WEEKLY STANDARD said of the Yale conference: “The left makes no secret of its intentions where the Constitution is concerned. It wants to change it…freeing [the left] from the tiresome necessity of winning elections….The new, improved Constitution will come about through judicial re-interpretation.”
Will the Constitution endure—even through all the various assaults on it, including bouts of judicial activism?
Well, it has endured all these years, including during the U. S. Civil War. I believe the answer is Yes—with the right actions by “we the people.”
I think the reason it has endured all these years has to do with Christianity. The Constitution benefited greatly from the Christian worldview that was held by the majority of the founders—even those who might not have believed in Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord.
Law professor and prolific author John Eidsmoe wrote a seminal book on the 200th anniversary of our key founding document, Christianity and the Constitution.
In a television interview on our nation’s Christian roots, Eidsmoe told me, “When you look to that constitutional convention, those fifty-five delegates, we find that, contrary to what is commonly being taught today, the overwhelming majority were actively affiliated with Christian churches. Twenty-seven of them were members of the Church of England or the Anglican Church, an orthodox church in those days with a Calvinist confession, the Thirty-Nine Articles. About seven of them were Presbyterian Calvinists, about the same number were Congregationalist Puritans, again Calvinists, two of them were Dutch Reformed, two of them were Lutheran with a very similar theology in most ways. There were two Methodists, two Roman Catholics, one who we just don’t know for sure what his religious beliefs were, and that leaves maybe about three or four that you would call unorthodox in their religious beliefs. That’s a very small minority: it’s about six percent.”
A key component to the Constitution’s success is that the founders believed the Biblical witness about man—that man is basically sinful. So the founders strived to create a government that would protect us from each other and that would protect us from the government, since the government is run by men. And men are sinful. James Madison says as much in Federalist #52.
Where did Madison learn such wisdom? Madison, a key architect of the Constitution and one of its biggest champions, was schooled at what is today Princeton. He studied under its president, Rev. John Witherspoon, a confirmed Calvinist who came from Scotland.
When Madison said things like, “All men having power ought not to be trusted,” he was echoing what he learned so well from his mentor Witherspoon. Eidsmoe points out that Witherspoon was the founding father who trained so many other founding fathers in a Christian worldview. He taught about 20 key founding fathers at Princeton.
In contrast to failed forms of government which always exalt man’s nature, the U. S. Constitution stands for the rule of law. By assuming the worst about human nature, it has brought about the best in men. As has been said, we are a nation of laws and not of men. Its Christian foundation explains the durability of the Constitution.

When hearing talk of Democrats’ war on blacks, some may think of the 92 percent of black homicide victims murdered by other blacks mainly in Democrat-run cities. Others may ponder the 300,000 black babies killed yearly in the womb with the approval, sometimes tacit, sometimes more overt, of many white liberals. Yet there’s another front in this war, one more recently opened and far more insidious.
When President Trump early this month ordered an end to mandatory “Critical Race Theory” (CRT) training in the federal bureaucracy — which sometimes involved compelling white male employees to write letters of apology to “marginalized” people — he was, predictably, called a “racist.” But if ending this destructive program is “racism,” well, then whatever racism is, we need more of it.
The CRT “training’s” anti-white nature is obvious. As Heritage Foundation fellow Christopher Rufo wrote last month, reporting on the CRT indoctrination at Sandia National Laboratories, the trainers insisted “that white males must ‘work hard to understand’ their ‘white privilege,’ ‘male privilege,’ and ‘heterosexual privilege.’”
Of course, such privilege exists like unicorns do. But insofar as blacks and other non-whites will believe it does and that they’re (perhaps fatally) disadvantaged, we should ask: How does making people more hopeless and bitter improve their prospects for success?
“Acting White”
It gets far, far worse, however. The trainers also claimed that “rugged individualism,” “a can-do attitude,” “hard work” and “striving towards success” reflected “white male culture,” which they said leads to “lowered quality of life at work and home, reduced life expectancy, unproductive relationships, and high stress.” I guess slacker bums who can’t put food on the table (when they have a table) have no stress.
But this Loser 101 indoctrination isn’t limited to Sandia or even the bowels of federal buildings. It’s in schools (and corporations) as well, where teachers are being told that hard work, planning for the future and punctuality are “white norms.” Try telling that to Asian-descent Americans, who, apparently, are just like white people — only more so.
(One race theory activist, Glenn Singleton, does tell them that, saying that Asian-descent Americans are a “majority” group because of their “white” habits. Honorary white people, I guess.)
Ironically, this is the very attitude black educators lamented, and combated, just a generation ago. Back then it was slacker, criminally inclined black youths (usually driven by jealously, mind you) accusing their higher achieving peers of “acting white.” This was universally recognized as destructive social pressure that militated against the embrace of success-breeding habits. Now the attitude has been lent the respectable veneer of educational theory and the endorsement of academic authorities.
This does violence to an already struggling black underclass. It’s man’s nature to glom on to convenient excuses, and American blacks have long been fed a diet of low expectations for performance and high expectations for copping out. Now pseudo-intellectual social engineers are exacerbating the problem.
Consider race-theory-demeaned punctuality. The saying goes that “80 percent of success is just showing up”; I’ll add that 90 percent of success is showing up on time. Yet as black writer T.J. Holmes lamented in 2014, failure to do so characterizes the black community.
In “It’s Time to Quit Operating on CP [Colored People’s] Time,” Holmes writes that our “challenges with starting or arriving on time are often dismissed with humorous complacency.” “You know how we are,” is what he hears from other blacks. “But this week,” he wrote, “CPT totally stopped being funny to me.”
After relating instances in which he’d been bitten by CPT, he stated, “This hurts to admit, but I often pause when considering doing business with black people or black companies, based on my experiences.”
Now, will activists call this black man a “racist”? They’ll more likely brand him an Uncle Tom. No amount of name-calling alters reality, however, which is this: We can institute all the affirmative action, quotas and set asides we want, but the last 50 years have proven that the wider society’s indulgence cannot compensate for a community’s fundamental virtue deficits. The pork barrel can keep people on a certain plantation, though.
Of course, as we’ll often hear regarding social ills, “It all starts at home.” It’s well known, too, that fatherlessness/family dissolution plagues the black community today, with 72 percent of black children born out of wedlock.
Now the Democrat Left aims to worsen this problem, too, with Black Lives Matter openly stating that one of its goals is to “disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.” In this structure’s place, BLM wants blacks to care for each other, as it writes, “collectively.”
A popular race-hustler notion, the aforementioned Glenn Singleton called “collectivism” a black norm while BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors admitted “We are trained Marxists” (collectivists) in a 2015 video. And in pushing socialism on blacks, they are in a way working toward equal outcomes — for the vast majority of the 100 million souls thus far murdered by Marxist governments have been white or Asian.
The notion that blacks somehow require a different economic/moral framework (collectivism) than whites do gets at a truth: The CRT’s largely unrecognized philosophical foundation (philoso-babble, really) would have to be the relativism sweeping our time. The idea is that, as Louis Farrakhan put it, “A White Man’s Heaven Is a Black Man’s Hell” (I believe Hitler expressed a similar sentiment, by the way); that whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, women, etc. all have different “needs.”
The truth, however, is precisely the opposite. As Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson has put it, the black community’s problem is “immorality.” Often called sin, this is a universal plaguing everyone and causes most human woes. Now, the remedy for immorality is, obviously, morality. To be specific, if morality came in a jar, on the ingredients label would be virtues.
These are “good moral habits,” examples being hope, honesty, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance, prudence, chastity, patience, kindness, humility and love. Another virtue is diligence, which relates to punctuality and industriousness. Yet another is forgiveness, which forestalls the bitterness and hatred that can cause a person to focus on tearing society down instead of building himself up.
The point, however, is that virtues aren’t “white” or black, Hispanic or Asian, male or female.
They are divine.
They’re also universals. All people need them to live happy, prosperous, moral lives — there are noexceptions.
Anyone counseling against virtue — as the race activists do — is the worst enemy a people could have. In fact, this is why Rev. Peterson called BLM “worse than the Ku Klux Klan”: It’s doubtful that even the most clever white supremacist would think to, or could, convince blacks that virtue is vice.
But Democrat-enabling, and enabled, organizations — teachers’ unions, BLM, academia, etc. — are doing just that. And why? Well, since poor, dependent people vote Democrat by wide margins, a cynic could think that the Democrats would want to make the poor and dependent class as large as possible.
What’s for sure is that virtuous people rarely support leftists. So if I were an amoral modern Democrat lusting after power, I’d peddle vice, too.

“Why so serious?” said Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris. “It’s just a little joke! The real joke is Trump, and we’re just joining in all the fun! HEE HEE HEE HA HO HA HEE HO!”
“Vote for Biden, or the country you love will be blown sky-high — HAHAHA!” cackled Nancy Pelosi. “If you don’t want to see the Lincoln Memorial, shall we say, in a state of disrepair, you’d better vote for the old, senile man! Ha ha ha ha ha! HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAA… fnffff oh, do excuse me… ha ha ha ha ha! HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” Her heavy makeup smeared down her face as she cried in laughter, making her resemble a clown.
In a statement, Biden’s teleprompter reiterated the point. “Threatening topline message: I’m not an agent of chaos,” Biden’s teleprompter said in a statement to the press. “But there are people out there who will create a lot of chaos if Trump is re-elected. Not that I want that to happen. I would hate to see something bad happen to this country. For your safety, I recommend voting for me. I’d hate for you to wake up with a horse’s head in your bed, or a bunch of killer clowns surrounding your house. Just give us what we want. It’s for your safety.”
Senator Mitt Romney also issued a video statement in support of Biden, flipping a coin and shouting about how blowing up the country would be much better than the bad orange man before he turned to reveal half his face had been burned off in a recent peaceful protest. “You either die a Republican or you live long enough to see yourself become basically a Democrat.”
Rep. Jerry Nadler revealed he has planted TNT all throughout the Capitol Building, as he wielded an umbrella and munched on some raw fish.
“A vote for Joe Biden is a vote to not die in an elaborately designed Rube Goldberg-style booby trap rigged with confetti and explosives,” said Biden Director of Strategic Communications Kamau Mandela Marshall. “He’s just trying to protect you. Let’s not blow this out of proportion.”
“Madness is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!” Marshall then said as he attempted to push over a statue of Columbus, though it proved to be too heavy.

Racism is America’s original sin, and despite a century and a half and more of efforts to put it behind us, it is more of an issue than ever. A great deal of this is the responsibility of a man whose election to the presidency was hailed as the beginning of a new, post-racial era in American society, a man who was supposed to embody America’s rejection of racism: Barack Hussein Obama.
There were many people who opposed Obama who nonetheless hailed his election to the presidency for what it showed about the United States. There are vanishingly few countries that have ever elected as their head of state someone from a minority group that previously faced discrimination. Obama’s election was supposed to herald the end of racism and the beginning of an era in which human beings truly were judged by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin.
Things didn’t work out that way. As Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster demonstrates, throughout his tenure, Obama stoked racial tensions rather than calming them. When he took office, the Justice Department was pursuing a case against the New Black Panther Party for voter intimidation in Philadelphia. Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, abruptly dropped the case in May 2009 and refused to cooperate with further investigations, giving the impression that the Black Panthers were getting away with voter intimidation because of their race.
Even worse, Obama’s response to several widely publicized incidents also exacerbated racial tensions. On July 16, 2009, black intellectual Henry Louis Gates found himself locked out of his Massachusetts home and began trying to force his way in. An officer arrived to investigate a possible break-in; Gates began berating him and was arrested for disorderly conduct. Obama claimed that the police “acted stupidly” and noted the “long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by police disproportionately,” although there was no indication of racial bias in the case. He invited Gates and the police officer to the White House for a “beer summit,” which the media hailed as a manifestation of his determination to heal racial divisions, when in fact it was just the opposite: he was taking a case of misunderstanding and disorderly conduct and portraying it as a racial incident requiring presidential reconciliation.
Obama also made matters worse yet again when a young Hispanic, George Zimmerman, on February 26, 2012, shot dead a young black man, Trayvon Martin, in what was widely reported as a racial hate crime. NBC edited a recording of Zimmerman’s call to the police to give the false impression that Zimmerman was suspicious of Martin solely because he was black. Instead of trying to calm the situation, Obama stoked the idea that Zimmerman acted out of racial hatred and said, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Yet Zimmerman was acquitted of murder and the Justice Department declined to prosecute him for a hate crime.
Obama made a similar rush to judgment in the case of Ahmed Mohamed, a Muslim high school student who was arrested in September 2015 after bringing what appeared to be a suitcase bomb to his Texas high school. Mohamed claimed it was a homemade clock and that he was a victim of “Islamophobic” bigotry. Obama invited him to the White House, making the boy a symbol of the nation’s “Islamophobia” and the need to overcome it. Mohamed’s father filed a lawsuit against the school district, which was dismissed when he failed to establish that the school had engaged in any prejudice or discrimination.
In line with all this, shortly after taking office, Obama embarked upon two world tours that critics quickly dubbed the “apology tours,” as at every stop the President of the United States had some negative words for the country he governed. He had little to say about America being the most generous, and most free, nation on earth.
As Rating America’s Presidents shows, Obama did nothing to heal America’s racial divisions, and a great deal to make them worse. Bob Woodward is claiming that Trump called Obama “overrated.” That’s a generous assessment.

Domestic terrorists have now started fires in Washington, Oregon and California with losses of 3.1 million acres burned in California, 954,000 acres lost in Oregon and 500,00 in Washington state. Thirty-five people are dead, and many more are missing. This is satanic evil perpetrated by those who hate God.
Synagogues/Churches Defiled
In democrat-controlled cities, today’s subversives are not only destroying and defacing businesses, but they’re attacking synagogues, churches and religious statues, but mosques have not been targeted. Hamas-linked CAIR and other subversive groups have been issuing pious statements of support for the “demonstrators,” without a word of condemnation for the violent riots.
Today’s wokeness, cancel culture, and social justice emanates directly from the very same source, God’s greatest foe, the divider, the liar, and the prince of darkness, is championed and embraced by today’s communists in BLM, Antifa, Islam and dozens of small communist groups. BLM founder Alicia Garza embraces Islamist Linda Sarsour known for leading the disgusting 2017 Women’s March, and being openly hostile to Jews, and affiliating with virulent anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.
Catholic parishes in Florida, Massachusetts and California are under attack while statues of the Blessed Mother are being vandalized in New York.
In California, the 249 year-old San Gabriel Mission was firebombed, after weeks of BLM and Antifa threats. Thankfully, the historic paintings, the Stations of the Cross, and other artifacts had been removed from the sanctuary as part of the renovations being done to prepare for the mission’s 250th anniversary next year.
The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, a 108-year-old building, was at the center of some of the local riots, including the hit-and-run of three Denver police officers, and suffered permanent damage. The walls were also vandalized with graffiti reading, “Pedophiles” and “God is dead.” A Connecticut Catholic Church was vandalized with satanic symbols and sacred statues were desecrated in Florida and Colorado. Throughout the country, assaults on religious statues are prevalent.
Church buildings in California, Minnesota, New York, Kentucky, Texas, and Colorado were attacked. The assault on St. John’s Episcopal Church by radicals and racists was the ugliest moment of the riots in Washington D.C. Not only was the famous 204-year-old church, which every president since James Madison has attended, sprayed with graffiti, but some of the thugs even tried to burn it down by starting a fire in its basement.
In Troy, New York, BLM stormed a church service, took over their sanctuary, insulted parishioners and chanted “hail satan.”
In Los Angeles, Congregation Beth Israel’s walls were defaced with graffiti reading, “F___ Israel” and “Free Palestine.” Some of the windows of the facility were broken and the gates were badly damaged.
Synagogues in Los Angeles’ suffered the largest burst of vandalism and destruction. Some of the ugliest graffiti was reserved for the Baba Sale synagogue of Moroccan Jewish refugees named after the rabbi who had helped lead Moroccan Jews out of the Muslim country and to Israel. In the 1870s and 1880s, anarchism originally meant a radical protest movement of impoverished artisans or downtrodden rural laborer’s, while Marxist Communism had its practice come to stand for the birth certificate of modern social democracy. This is what we’re seeing in the streets of America today, where there are no consequences for insurrection and lawlessness. Antifa communists even burned a Bible and the American flag in front of Portland’s federal courthouse.
Both fascists and communists hate the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Christian Messiah, Jesus Christ.
The Marxist Dethroning of God
Marx was recruited by the Communist League (small group of communists in Europe) to summarize their beliefs. Marx a Jew himself, hated Jews as well as all religions that worshipped God. Castro and Ernesto “Che” Guevara in Cuba killed more Cubans (per capita) who didn’t agree with their politics than Hitler and Stalincombined – yet the young people of today think Guevara is a cool dude. Guevara taught that “man has to muster up as much hate as he can to smash the skulls of the imperialist Americans.” Guevara’s picture was featured in a 2014 Blue Bloods program where it hung on a classroom wall so children would believe the murdering commie was some kind of hero.
Marx said the very purpose of communism was to, “Destroy capitalism and dethrone God.” Marx knew that the Judeo-Christian beliefs and teachings which American capitalism was built on was a bulwark against his godless Utopian Society. Marx also taught that socialism is a temporary transition to communism. “Thus, Heaven I’ve forfeited, I know it full well,” Marx wrote in a poem in 1837, a decade before his Manifesto. “My soul, once true to God, is chosen for Hell.” That certainly seemed to be the perverse destiny for Marx’s ideology, which consigned to death over 100 million souls in the twentieth century alone.
In 1849, Marx wrote, “When our turn comes, we shall make no excuses for the terror. There is only one way in which the murderous death agonies of the old society and the bloody birth throes of the new society can be shortened, simplified and concentrated, and that way is revolutionary terror.”
Communist regimes put Marx’s principles into practice, starting with the first Marxist state. Between 1917 and 1921, the Soviet Union destroyed nearly 600 Russian Orthodox monasteries and convents. The leaders of the first communist country oversaw the killing of at least 300 Orthodox clergy. This bloodbath eventually became Soviet policy. The Eighth Party Congress decreed in 1920 that “the Party aims at the complete destruction of links between the exploiting classes and religious propaganda, while assisting the actual liberation of the working masses from religious prejudices.”
In his recent article, Alex Newman stated, “There is now proof that there are very dark forces behind BLM, and it’s not just the blatant Marxism of its founders and leaders. The darkness literally includes summoning dead ancestral spirits and allowing them to work through BLM leaders. Sound crazy? BLM bosses admit it.”
BLM co-founder Patrice Cullors, who boasted in a TV interview of being a “trained Marxist,” revealed that she is also consulting spiritual entities and allowing them to “work through” her. Those entities are demons.

Communist Revolution
Consider the mob riots in Europe in 1848; they didn’t simply happen, they were planned to burst into full bloom, spontaneously and simultaneously in several countries. Riots have to be incited. Moreover, revolution spanning the breadth of an entire continent is highly unlikely without thorough planning, exact timing, skillful execution, and close coordination. So, it’s not by sheer coincidence that certain revolutionary figures had been flitting from one European hot spot to another, just like its not likely that cities in America are spontaneously erupting in violence and destruction. It is all planned and purposefully orchestrated and executed by the communists and their wealthy benefactors who desire the overthrow of America.
While most understand Marxism, what’s not so well known is the philosophy of Leftist thinking. It was given birth to in 18th century France, cloaked beneath the cover of Enlightenment. It was sheltered under seemingly reputable names like Rene Descartes, Sir Issac Newton, Sir Francis Bacon, and John Locke and gave birth to liberalism. Much like Marxism and Communism, it purported to use philosophy to combat poverty and unfairness, but its core was new age and occultic.
Leftist thinking powers came from French writer, historian and philosopher, Voltaire. His argument against religion was “reason over superstition.” Another philosopher who aided Voltaire was Denis Diderot who provided a sneak peek into the Left’s use of violence with a quote that is commonly attributed to him, “Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”
Gary Gindler’s recent article, Ernst Röhm, Maximilian Robespierre, and Democrat Party Stormtroopers is telling. America’s Leftist democrat mobsters imitate the Nazi Brownshirts in many ways, although in some ways they differ. Today’s leftists decided to emulate the Black shirts of the Italian socialist Mussolini (in clothing choice), the Brownshirts of the German National Socialists (in their methods of terror), and the Maoist Hongweibing (in ideological stubbornness). Black shirts, Brownshirts, and Hongweibing are ancient practices of global leftist movements. In other words, in 2020, neither leftist philosophy nor the current generation of leftists in America could come up with anything new.
Calls for the dissolution of the police or defunding of police are attempts by democrats to transform the police from a law enforcement agency into a rioters’ protection agency. But wait…the end result with the National Socialists was that the SS Stormtroopers eradicated their “comrade” Brownshirts in the “Night of the Long Knives.” It’s likely that the “Black shirts” of today will be eliminated by their wealthy masters.
Recall the comments and emails regarding guillotines. The same fate may await the American democrat goons after an internal power struggle. Remember Maximilian Robespierre, one of the founders of the leftist ideological terror, fell under the guillotine at the hands of his fellow revolutionaries.
If the SA militants in Germany were replaced by the SS militants in 1934, then someone else will obviously replace the white Antifa and black and white BLM stormtroopers for there are enough left-wing terrorist organizations in America. Perhaps the go-ahead for the internal crackdown against Antifa and BLM will be given immediately after Biden’s loss on November 3 this year.
Leftist Politicians Allow Insurrection
Democrat politicians are allowing the communist violence to continue because their beliefs mirror the anarchists. Seattle actually closed a park for a religious rally, but allowed anti-cop protests.
Social media and mainstream media are democrat owned. Their allegiance is with the communist revolutionary anarchists. Patriot Prayer promotes belief in God, but Facebook banned Patriot Prayer, and its founder Joey Gibson six days after one of their members was executed by Antifa. The perpetrator later lost his own life. This censorship is, in itself, evil. Patriot Prayer is a pro-Trump group that often counter protests against far-left extremism, but FB didn’t deem them worthy of posting on their website.
The first sentence in the first amendment of our unalienable Bill of Rights states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Churches are shut down, limited to congregants, masks required, and a California judge has disallowed indoor church gatherings. This is totally unconstitutional, but no one seems to be up in arms at the loss of our unalienable rights.
John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church is being denied their first amendment rights and are having their property seized for disobeying the totalitarian edict by Governor Newsom not to assemble or sing.
Another California church is pleading for relief after fines reach over $60,000. The church was fined $5,000 for holding a morning service and $5,000 for an evening service during which congregants sang.
In Chicago, Mayor Lightfoot threatened to bulldoze two churches if they fail to obey the arbitrary edicts issued by the city concerning Covid restrictions. They said the buildings would be demolished.
Some of God’s people will not be denied. In late July, 12,000 Christians gathered on the steps of the California Capitol building in Sacramento to pray and worship together to inspire hope in the midst of the pandemic and to encourage the Church to be strong in the midst of government shutdowns.
What we’re seeing in America today with these violent mob forces is much like the French Revolution of 1789. Their idea of freedom was one that was characterized by the pursuit of absolute power and secularism that included a mob-driven violent and forceful de-Christianization campaign. Eliminating God meant an ever-changing description of right and wrong, which is evident today in America’s decaying culture and society.
Conclusion
Our universities are teaching the Marxist hatred of God. Tim Snediker, a doctoral student in religious studies at the public university in California, tweeted that he would “assassinate Jesus of Nazareth” if he had a time machine.
Everything that is happening in the streets of America right now is 100 percent planned and executed by the Democrat Party and their accomplices in the mainstream media. They have embraced godless communism and have become America’s greatest enemy.
Faith, hope, charity and forbearance are dangerous ideas for a system that relies on fear and envy. And what is dangerous must be destroyed. To create the communist heaven on earth, the faithful must abandon their beliefs or endure a living hell.
Periods of civil disorder, like elections, are a time for choosing sides. Democrats have chosen their side — against police, against safety and against the rule of law. On November 3, the American people will choose whether to join them.
For more than three months we have witnessed riots, lawlessness and political violence instigated by antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) radicals — cities burned, stores looted, police officers and citizens attacked and even killed. Vicious mobs felt emboldened to “occupy” our streets, block traffic and invade our neighborhoods.
While Democrat mayors, governors and prosecutors refused to stop the violence, President Trump refused to surrender to the mob, standing up for our police and for the safety and security of American families.
Their rhetoric now seeks to rewrite history, but when the moment came to pick sides, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the Democrats cast their lots with the mob, not the law-abiding citizens being terrorized in their homes. Their silence — and in some cases outright support — allowed our cities to descend into chaos. The Democrats denied the violence and tried to convince us that the arson, looting and beatings were actually just “peaceful protests.”
But we all saw the truth with our own eyes.
In Portland, the mob dragged a man from his truck, then beat, stomped, savagely kicked him in the head before leaving him for dead in the street. In New York City, violent radicals attacked three NYPD supervisors, opening a huge gash in one officer’s head. One of the attackers was arrested, only to be immediately set free to continue rioting under New York’s radical “bail reform” law — the same policy of eliminating cash bail that Kamala Harris hopes to implement nationwide. In Kenosha, Wisconsin, a 71-year-old man defending his business was viciously beaten by a group of thugs, suffering a broken jaw at the hands of the “peaceful protestors” who then stepped over him to loot and burn his store.
This mob violence spread and intensified because Democrat mayors prevented the police from confronting it, and even gave the rioters moral sanction to run wild.
When a Black Lives Matter mob in Washington, D.C. threatened innocent bystanders who were peacefully dining outdoors, demanding the diners shout their slogan, they went unchallenged by police. Radicals took note that such behavior would be tolerated, and now the same type of intimidation has spread to Rochester and Pittsburgh.
Another mob set upon peaceful citizens departing the Republican National Convention. Among the victims were U.S. Senator Rand Paul and his wife. Surrounded and in fear for their lives, the couple only escaped the possibility of serious injury or death thanks to the extraordinary action of four brave police officers, who kept the antagonists at bay until Sen. Paul and the others made it to safety. Biden and the Democrats refused to denounce the mob — after all, the violent rioters are their base, and they hoped to ride that kind of “enthusiasm” into the White House.
No Democrat official has acted more shamefully than Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. For 104 days and counting, he has allowed mobs to riot, destroy public and private property, and even attempt to burn police officers alive. Wheeler has openly supported the violence, literally standing with the mob while law enforcement officers were being attacked. Even when rioters threatened a federal courthouse, Wheeler refused President Trump’s offers of assistance while his prosecutors continued to let those responsible out of jail without posting a cent of bail. His tolerance for violence reached its inevitable result on August 29 with the assassination of a Trump supporter.
This dramatic politically-motivated violence grabs headlines, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Toleration of violence and disorder by those tasked with maintaining public safety and order only breeds more violence. Predictably, violent crime is going through the roof in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Baltimore and other Democrat-run cities.
New York City has seen a 166 percent increase in shootings and a 34 percent rise in murders from August 2020 compared to the same period last year. In Chicago, shootings have increased by 52 percent and murders by 49 percent, with 2,152 people shot and 503 murdered already this year. During July and August alone, 1,087 were shot and 168 killed in the Windy City.
As demonstrated in Chicago and Minneapolis, Democrat mayors have legitimized the activists’ belief that looting is an acceptable response to any perceived injustice involving the police. Inevitably, Black Lives Matter interpreted that as permission to go even further. “No justice, no peace” has now evolved into a belief that looting is justified as a form of reparations for slavery.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the official, acknowledged leaders of their party. They could — and should — have exercised real leadership and condemned these radicals. But at the Democratic National Convention, neither Biden nor Harris, nor any other Democrat uttered a word condemning the riots and mob violence that had already been going on for months by that point. Instead, they used the anti-American lie of “systemic racism” as a central theme of the convention, making common cause with activists who believe America is evil, illegitimate, and inherently racist.
They approved a Democratic Party platform that enshrines the false and dangerous myth that police are “systemically racist,” slandering the brave men and women of American law enforcement and giving their imprimatur to radical rhetoric likening federal agents to the Ku Klux Klan and police officers to Nazi “stormtroopers.”
The violence we are seeing now is a direct result of the false narrative about systemic police racism. Democrats may just be trying to win an election, but in the process they have dealt a significant blow to the legitimacy of the police in the eyes of many citizens, and law-abiding Americans are suffering mightily for it.
American civilization rests upon the will of the people, not the fury of the mob. If we lose the rule of law, we lose our country. Democrats have shown how they run cities — in the process making it clear that our families will not be safe if they are allowed to run our country. They have chosen their side, but it’s not too late for us to choose President Trump’s — and our own.

From out-of-control riots in Seattle and Wisconson to violence on the streets in Portland (or, as they call it, Wednesday), tons of property is being damaged, many are being harmed or killed, and, worst of all, new Trump voters are being created every minute.
“This isn’t looking good,” said one CNN analyst. “I mean, the buildings burning down and all the fires and property damage and violence are happening, and that’s fine, but all the Trump voters this is creating — that’s a real tragedy. We must do something to counteract the devastation this will cause in November.”
A study found that every burned-down building causes millions of dollars in property damage and creates up to 50 new Trump voters. A burned-out cop car can create up to 12 Trump supporters, while screaming at people in front of restaurants for not doing your salute can create over 100 Trump voters.
“May God have mercy on us all,” whispered the analyst.

With months of race riots continuing in the United States, identity politics is a phrase all too familiar to us in 2020.
Often credited to French philosopher Michel Foucault, identity politics is a window on the world that sees all social relationships as a power struggle. Black versus white, male versus female, gay versus straight, and on the list goes. Each group, according to this worldview, is battling it out to advance their particular political agenda.
With humour and precision, Michael Bird, a lecturer at Ridley College, explains that in the new social pyramid:
Your authority derives not so much from achievement or ability, but from your minority status and experiences of victimisation. So, that means in an argument, a white woman trumps a white man; a black woman trumps a white woman, a disabled woman trumps a black woman, and a disabled black transgendered Muslim refugee trumps pretty much everybody.
Late last year, Australians watching Q&A encountered a rather confronting example of this new creed. One of the visiting guests was Egyptian-American journalist Mona Eltahawy, whose writings have appeared in The Washington Post, the New York Times and beyond.
To viewers’ surprise, Eltahawy labelled Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison a “white supremacist” and a “patriarchal authoritarian”. She went on to explain that, “for me, as a feminist, the most important thing is to destroy patriarchy.” At one point, Eltahawy bypassed the panel to address the audience directly:
How long must we wait for men and boys to stop murdering us, to stop beating us, and to stop raping us? How many rapists must we kill — not by the state, because I disagree with the death penalty… until men stop raping us?
Behind her biting words, of course, Eltahawy had some genuine grievances. Domestic violence, for instance, affects women especially, and it’s an issue dealt with by police every two minutes in Australia. Sexual abuse remains a serious problem in our societies, and one that predominantly affects women, too.
There are many social ills in the modern world, and they should concern us all. But Eltahawy’s biting tone was unnerving, and it is becoming more commonplace.
Westerners are finding it increasingly difficult to sift social concerns from heated ideas like identity politics. The pressure is on now, not just to provide care to the disadvantaged, but to prove your sincerity by embracing politicised viewpoints. Resentment, victimhood and grievance are the new currency.
In the interests of equality, we are learning to assume the best about some people and the worst about others, even if we haven’t met them. This hardly feels like progress. How did it all come to this?
Until the 1960s, Western sexual ethics were more or less Christian sexual ethics: a man married a woman; sex was reserved for that covenant; children were a natural result; and the family unit was the safe place for children to be raised.
The Sexual Revolution changed all that. As faith waned and morals loosened after the wars, personal happiness was one pursuit we could all agree on. Sexual fulfilment played a crucial role in this. Consequently, rates of infidelity, divorce, teenage sex and unmarried pregnancy began to soar from the 60s, and they have stayed high ever since.
Other forces were at play. Abortion and the pill turned sex into a childless exchange. This made marriage optional. IVF therapies took this a step further by enabling children to be born in the absence of either a father or a mother. So what the family unit looks like now is limited only to the imagination.
Many consider all of these benign trends of the modern world, but Eberstadt disagrees. Having researched and published widely in this field, Eberstadt credits the Sexual Revolution and its impact on the family unit with a “sharp rise in psychiatric trouble among the young… the explosion of loneliness on a scale never before recorded [and] the rise in so-called ‘deaths of despair’ that are plainly related to loss of love.”
She explains how the weakening of family ties and identity has led to a ‘longing for belonging’ among many in the West. She quotes Arthur Schlesinger Jr, who reasoned that:
“the more people feel themselves adrift in a vast, impersonal, anonymous sea, the more desperately they swim toward any familiar, intelligible, protective life-raft; the more they crave a politics of identity.”
In other words, says Eberstadt, the breakdown of loving, stable homes in the West has prompted us to look for family and loyalty elsewhere.
Enter identity politics.
Mary Eberstadt’s thesis is a compelling one — that the erosion of the family unit has led us to find our identity in fragmented groups. Whether or not hers is the best explanation for the social splintering we now see in the West, it is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.
Having taken individualism to an extreme and tasted the loneliness it can cause, we now face a new kind of tribal warfare — a postmodern caste system. We are losing the ability to see each other as individuals, and instead as mere symbols of rival groups.
This is not progress. We will need something greater than the sum of our parts to pull us back together. Perhaps we can begin with the wise words of C.S. Lewis, who said:
We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.
