Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger is Much Better than Captain Marvel

The best thing about the new Captain Marvel movie is it’s tribute and cameo appearance of Stan Lee, who died on November 12th, 2018. After that it goes down hill.

It is the same old, same old. Marvel Studios is stuck in a political correctness rut and can’t seem to extract itself.

Marvel needs to get back to it’s roots with movies like the original Captain America: The First Avenger released in 2011 (sadly even this franchise has gone down hill). A movie with a real story line, believable characters, real heroes and a great ending. Marvel Studios tries to use animation and visuals to replace strong performances by its actors. It just doesn’t work. Captain Marvel is played by Brie Larson. It appears that Brie has taken it upon herself to hate men, especially white men.

CCN.com’s Samantha Chang in a column titled Captain Marvel Faces Boycott Backlash Over Brie Larson’s ‘Man-Hating’ writes:

Brie Larson is kicking off her publicity tour as the first female lead in a Marvel Comics movie with “Captain Marvel.” But she’s facing withering backlash and a boycott from some fans who are turned off by her man-hating rhetoric.

The boycott was launched by conservative author Jack Posobiec, a correspondent with One America News.

Posobiec started the Twitter hashtag Alita Challenge, urging his legion of social media followers to boycott “Captain Marvel” and see “Alita: Battle Angel” instead.

I agree with Jack Posobiec, Alita: Battle Angel is a much better film. In my review Alita – Battle Angel is Anti-Socialism & Pro-Christian I wrote:

Alita – Battle Angel is a visually stunning film with a heavy Christian theme. While Alita is a cyborg she is on a mission to confront evil wherever she may find it. Alita has unique abilities programmed in her that the Zalems and their agents will stop at nothing to destroy. These unique abilities include: a moral sense of right and wrong, kindness, a willingness to fight and die for the oppressed and of course great fighting skills. Alita is a human being. The Zalems want to stop Alita from becoming what she was ordained to be.

Brie Larson, like far to many in Hollywood, are into man shaming. According to M.G.T.O.W – Men Going Their Own Way:

“Shaming tactics” are emotional devices meant to play on a man’s insecurities and shut down debate. They are meant to elicit sympathy for women and to demonize men who ask hard questions. Most, if not all, shaming tactics are basically ad hominem attacks. It might be helpful to categorize the major shaming tactics that are hurled against men whenever a discussion arises about the very real actions and behavior of the female collective.

Captain Marvel is an insult to old white men like Stan Lee. It is an insult to all men. It is not worth your money. I suggest downloading a copy of Captain America: The First Avenger or Alita: Battle Angel. Your time, and money, will be better spent.

Sacrificing Freedom to Vaccination

According to the Oath of Hippocrates, physicians have the duty to advise their patients according to the best of their ability and judgment. In In most cases, most physicians recommend vaccination, believing that for a particular patient, the benefit exceeds the risk. Patients or their parents, however, have the right to decline to follow their doctor’s advice.

But with vaccination, government restricts this right. Every time there is a measles outbreak somewhere there is an outcry to restrict vaccine exemptions, to protect the public—and, just coincidentally, vaccine manufacturers.

Measles is extremely contagious, and with today’s air travel, a patient incubating measles but not yet sick can arrive any time and cough virus particles all over Disneyland. Most patients recover fully, with robust lifelong immunity. But some get serious complications or die. Measles is two to four times worse than in pre-vaccination days because it affects more adults and infants. Mothers with only waning vaccine-induced immunity cannot give their babies the antibodies that once protected infants of naturally immunized mothers during their most vulnerable period.

The public health or guilt-trip rationale is this: “My baby is immunosuppressed and can’t get vaccinated. So, you must vaccinate your baby because if there’s an outbreak, your unvaccinated baby might catch measles and give it to my baby, who might die.” Of course, parents fear for their children, although the last measles death in the U.S. occurred in 2015.

This argument assumes that the risk of vaccine to healthy children doesn’t exist—or doesn’t matter. Worries are attributed to “antivax quacks,” and the omniscient Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook is reportedly going to protect the public by suppressing information he judges to be “not credible.” Public health people prevented the screening of the 2016 movie Vaxxed: from Coverup to Catastrophe in Phoenix. The film shows children with devastating neurologic damage, and parents telling how their once normal child changed dramatically just after getting a vaccine. But these are mere anecdotes; there is “overwhelming evidence” of safety, the experts assure us.

Most children tolerate their vaccines well, but package inserts list an intimidating number of rare but serious events—that might or might not have been caused by the vaccine. Moreover, according to the Cochrane Collaboration, “The design and reporting of safety outcomes in MMR vaccine studies, both pre- and post-marketing, are largely inadequate.”

Safety studies are always limited. Terrible but rare complications might not show up in the limited number of study subjects, or might be delayed until after the study concludes. Chloramphenicol was a widely used antibiotic, until one in 50,000 patients got lethal aplastic anemia. And let us not forget thalidomide and the babies without limbs. One incentive to be cautious and avoid attempts to cover up adverse effects is the prospect of being sued. But vaccine manufacturers are immune from product liability. The only recourse for vaccine-injured patients is Vaccine Court, which has paid out $4 billion in damages. Two out of three claims are denied.

But aren’t the risks worth it? What if large numbers of parents start to refuse vaccination? Maybe there would be a huge outbreak, spreading like wildfire, causing thousands or millions of deaths? Shall we not pit the worst imaginable hypothetical scenario against an unknown number of vaccine adverse reactions? Is it not worth it to eradicate the scourge of measles?

The fact is that measles probably can’t be eradicated, not with an imperfect vaccine. In Saudi Arabia, where vaccination rates were between 95 percent and 98 percent, there were 4,648 cases of measles in 2007 compared with 373 in 2005. The best we can do is probably to aim for disease control. A freedom-based approach—for example, seeking better vaccines, excellent diagnostic and contact-tracing tools, and open communication—is more likely to lead to an optimal result than forcing the currently available vaccine on unwilling recipients.

Deciding what is best for individual patients is difficult, fraught with danger and full of uncertainties. Doctors may advise, or patients may choose a course that is harmful. But if governmental authorities, imbued with a sense of infallibility, impose their will on everyone, the consequences of a bad choice affect millions.

A study published in the Journal of Neuroscience today “presents evidence suggesting structural brain and cognitive effects of just one or two instances of cannabis use in adolescence.” The researchers note that nearly 35 percent of 10th graders report using marijuana.

Teens and vaping marijuana: Understanding the dangers of “dabbing”

Dabbing among 8th, 10th, and 12th graders is on the rise, according to the Monitoring the Future Survey. Dr. Ruben Baler, a health scientist at the National Institute on Drug abuse, which funds the survey, estimates that of the 3 million teens now vaping e-cigarettes, 30 to 40 percent are vaping marijuana.

The term vaping generally applies to heating capsules of nicotine in an e-cigarette and inhaling the fumes, while dabbing refers to inhaling fumes from a heated capsule of THC in a vape pen. And those THC capsules contain concentrates with 60 to 90 percent THC compared to about 12 percent THC in today’s marijuana that is smoked. Americans were getting high less than 5 percent THC in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

“This is a very dangerous trend,” Dr. Baler says. E-cigarettes and vape pens “are very easy to hide. They’re odorless, and they’re marketed very aggressively for kids, whether they have flavorings or high concentrations of nicotine or marijuana.”

He warns that an adolescent brain is still in development and “should be completely clean” of any “drug that can derail that trajectory of development.”

Police: Vape shop owner, employees charged with selling marijuana to minors

Police arrested the owner and four employees at a vape shop called Kloudy Visionz in Taunton, Massachusetts after finding a stash of marijuana behind the counter, which allegedly was sold to teenagers.

Even though marijuana is legal in Massachusetts for adults, Kloudy Visionz does not have a license to sell it to anyone, let alone someone under age 21. An investigation had revealed teenagers leaving through a side entrance with marijuana.

The store had been opened for only about a year, but its license to sell tobacco had expired.

Thousands of people in DC area seek treatment for marijuana dependency each year

Several thousand people in the area surrounding Washington DC have sought treatment for the drug that “isn’t addictive” (marijuana) as many legalization proponents claim.

An investigation by the NBC Washington News4 I-Team found that Virginia health agencies admitted approximately 4,000 residents each year for the past four years to treat marijuana dependency. While the majority were men, more recent records show an uptick in women ages 31 to 40 seeking treatment.

In 2016, experts testifying before the US Senate Judiciary Committee told members that 8 percent to 9 percent of adults and 17 percent of adolescents who try marijuana become addicted. The experts estimated that some 2.7 million Americans were dependent on the drug.

Those seeking treatment are encouraged to call the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s free, confidential hotline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).

Marijuana use and driving in Washington State: Risk perceptions and behaviors before and after implementation of retail sales

This roadside study surveyed drivers in Washington State the month before marijuana retail sales began, 5 to 6 months later, and 1 year later. Some 2,355 drivers completed the survey.

They were asked about their past and current marijuana use and whether they believed driving after use increased their risk for having an accident. They also were drug tested for the presence of THC in oral fluids or blood.

The proportion of daytime THC-positive drivers increased from 8 percent before retail sales to 23 percent 6 months after sales began. No such change occurred among nighttime drivers. The odds of being THC positive were 40 percent lower among drivers who believe marijuana can impair driving.

Further research should continue to monitor marijuana and driving and to develop a way to determine impairment.

Three verses of the Noble verses mentioned above don’t have His explicit name but it’s mentioned in the translation for clarification.

1 Rape Video Game Removed, 2,000 Similar Video Games Remain

After coming under fire from the National Center on Sexual Exploitation for listing a video game featuring the rape and murder of women, major video game distributor Steam has backtracked and removed the game. Despite their “allow everything” that isn’t “illegal, or straight up trolling”content policy, Steam delisted the game due to posing “unknown costs and risks”.

Steam’s vacuous explanation for removing this game highlights the utter inadequacy of their content policy which fails to ban sexual exploitation games. Instead of clear content guidelines, Steam appears to merely remove games whenever the company starts receiving bad press. While we’re glad this disturbing game has been removed, Steam’s slow response exposes a deep flaw in their current content policy.

In a statement Steam wrote, “Much of our policy around what we distribute is, and must be, reactionary.”

It is hypocritical of Steam to remove one game while continuing to sell some 2,000 sexually exploitive games, many of which feature graphic sexual violence and pornographic themes. Further, their content filters are deeply inadequate, leaving millions of underage gamers exposed. We’re calling on Steam to improve their filters and set clear content guidelines that restrict sexually exploitive and graphic content.

In September, Steam approved for sale its first “100% uncensored” porn game featuring “pressured sexual relationships” and “abusive marriages”. This game, and others featuring similar content, remain for sale on the platform.

Steam was placed on the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s 2019 Dirty Dozen List. The Dirty Dozen List names 12 mainstream facilitators of sexual exploitation and works to change corporate policy via grassroots activism. Click here to learn more about the Dirty Dozen List.

An Encyclical on Homosexuality?

David Carlin writes that, to end confusion in the Church, it would be good if the pope were to restate Catholicism’s immemorial opposition to homosexual activity.


Apart from the grace of God, our most urgent need at the moment is a papal encyclical on homosexuality.  Failing that, the American Catholic bishops should issue a collective pastoral letter on homosexuality.  And failing that, individual American bishops should issue diocesan pastoral letters on homosexuality.

Why do I say this need is “urgent”?  Because a great campaign is underway in the United States, Canada, and Europe (especially Germany) to amend or nullify the perennial Catholic teaching on homosexual practice.  If this campaign is not effectively resisted, the Catholic Church in the United States, like a number of “mainline” Protestant churches, will commit something like institutional suicide.

Let me cite a few evidences of this campaign.

For one, there is the pro-LGBT book Building a Bridge (a bridge between the Catholic Church and the “LGBT community”), written by the well-known Jesuit writer, Fr. James Martin.  This book has been endorsed by Cardinal Kevin Farrell (prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery on Laity, Family, and Life!), Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, and Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego.

Second, there is the apparent fact that the typical student in a Catholic college approves of same-sex marriage and thinks that you’re a narrow-minded bigot if you don’t approve of it too.

Third, there is the general silence from the pulpit on this topic.  It is a rare priest who tells his parishioners at a weekend Mass that homosexual sodomy is, from a Catholic point of view, an atrocious sin.

Fourth, there is the widespread practice of homosexuality among priests and seminarians.  Nobody is quite sure of the numbers, but everybody seems agreed that the percentage of priests who are (or who were in their younger days) active homosexuals is far higher that the percentage of active homosexuals in the general population.

Fifth, there is the notable tendency among Catholics, including Catholic priests and bishops, to condemn the sexual molestation of minors without at the same time condemning the priestly homosexuality that has been, in at least 80 percent of the cases, a pre-condition for this molestation; a sine qua non(to borrow a phrase from what used to be the quasi-sacred language of the Church).

This tendency to condemn sexual abuse while avoiding condemnation of homosexuality was on display in Rome a few weeks ago at the synod of bishops.

This encyclical or these pastoral letters I’m talking about – what would they say?

Above all, they would reiterate the ancient Catholic teaching on this topic, a teaching rooted in Genesis and the Law of Moses. The letter would note that the Old Testament allows exceptions for incest (after all, who did the children of Adam and Eve marry?), and it allows exceptions of polygamy (both of them horrible sins), but it makes absolutely no exception for homosexual sodomy.

That condemnation continues in the letters of St. Paul (most notably in the “homophobic” first chapter of his Epistle to the Romans); and found by very clear implication in the words of Jesus himself when he referred (a) to the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah and (b) to the passage in the book of Genesis that says, “male and female he [God] made them.”

The letter would acknowledge that it goes without saying that our duty of Christian love of neighbor means that we should love our homosexual neighbors; but the letter would point out that this duty of love does not mean that we should approve the sinsof our homosexual neighbors – which is precisely what the LGBT movement demands of Christians.

Likewise, we must also love those of our neighbors who are thieves, liars, wife-beaters, adulterers, fornicators, and members of the Mafia.  But we must do this without giving our stamp of approval to their wrongdoing.

The letter would also take note of the fact that it is hard nowadays, very hard indeed, for Catholics to disapprove of homosexuality since this will lead many of our relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and tennis partners to think of us as narrow-minded and hard-hearted.

Worse still, our disapproval will cause pain to friends who are themselves homosexuals or are the parents of homosexual children; they will feel that you are expressing something like hatred for them or their children.

The letter will have to say: As a Catholic, you have to choose between fidelity to your faith or the approval of your friends, neighbor, etc.  If you choose the former, you may lose old friends.  In other words, you may have to undergo a mini-martyrdom.  But that’s the religion you belong to.  If you don’t like it, maybe you should join a liberal Protestant church, e.g., the Episcopal Church of the United Church of Christ.

And then, of course, there is the growing movement – at the national and international levels – to criminalize all such expressions of the ancient Christian morals as “hate speech,” which may be banned from public spaces including the Internet, or “hate crimes” punishable in civil law. all

If you are a true Christian you are, of course, quite willing to be thrown to the lions for your faith.  But if you’re not unwilling to face the lions, why should you be fear the disapproval of your friends and neighbors?

Many Catholics of course feel that it is “unreasonable” that our religion expects us to disagree with friends, neighbors, government, and what passes for moral thought. But an encyclical on homosexuality would have to explain why – to quote an authoritative source – that is thinking like men, not God.

I was at a a Trump rally last year in Tampa, Florida when all of a sudden a handful of people mid level half way through the arena stood up and got the President’s attention. Why and how? They were all wearing a white t-shirt with the letter Q.

They stood up and the President took a moment to acknowledge that Q was here and the stadium roared.

Of course the next day CNN and the fake news apparatus unleashed a fury against Q calling Q a conspiracy theory. Excuse me, the fact that CNN and the the fake news calls this conspiracy gives you a valid reason to look into Q. I know one thing, many of the conspiracy theories of yesterday have become the conspiracy facts and realities of today. Such will be the same with Q. Get on board now.

I do a lot of public speaking before political groups and my surveys indicate that less than 10% of the politically active patriots I meet have even heard of Q. The numbers I would imagine are far lower for those not politically active. This is very telling and this is changing. This article will be one in a series of articles I will write surrounding Q.

Q, or QANON is something any concerned American or person anywhere in the world should become familiar with. I have a friend who produces a TV show who just came back from Uganda along with Alan Keyes and he told me he has footage of the people of Uganda wearing Q shirts! I will get that posted next week. Yes, Q is global.

Selling Socialism to America

Socialism is a tough sell to Americans who evaluate ideas based on facts and a remarkably easy sell to Americans who evaluate ideas based on feelings. The adult world of facts is a foreign land to the infantilized world of feelings where low-info millennial voters currently dwell. The heated political battle between Americanism and Socialism parallels the battle between parents and their children who refuse to grow up emotionally and leave the nest.

Becoming an emotional adult requires embracing a fact based cause-and-effect view of the world that rejects the fantasies of childhood. “No Johnny, you cannot fly like a bird even though you really really really want to.” What happens if Johnny insists that he can fly and takes a confident leap from a tall building?

Socialism and Johnny have a lot in common – both insist they can do what objective reality proves they cannot do.

So, what is the problem?

America is being challenged by a Peter Pan generation that refuses to grow up and lives in a world of subjective reality where feelings rather than facts determine public policy. Their fragile selves require enforced political correctness and safe spaces to protect them from unwelcome facts and opposing ideas. Johnny climbs to the top of a tall building because he “feels” like a bird – he refuses to accept the fact that he is a human being and cannot fly. Human beings have limitations just like Socialism does.

The limitations of Socialism make it impossible to provide the social justice and income equality that it promises. First, the Peter Pan principle of robbing the rich to pay the poor eventually leaves everyone penniless. Second, Socialism is actually a binary political system with a very small wealthy ruling class and a very large population who service them. There is no middle class in Socialism because there is no private property and no upward mobility. The government confiscates and controls everything. Ask the Venezuelans.

Socialism’s free stuff is never free because you forfeit your freedom. That bears repeating. Socialism’s free stuff is never free because you forfeit your freedom.

Low-info low-level political leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez (AOC) have emerged to help sell Socialism to America. Who is buying? AOC’s supporters are low-info millennial voters who have been indoctrinated toward collectivism by the leftist liberal narrative that dominates public education K-12 and dictates university curricula. The leftist takeover of college campuses and its rejection of objective reality is discussed in chilling detail by Andrew Cunningham in his 3.8.19 American Thinker article.

It is painful to listen to AOC and to hear the absurdity of the public policies she proposes. After reviewing her Green New Deal one has to ask, “Did this woman really earn a degree in economics from Boston University?” Did she attend classes? I think she did.

AOC is the disturbing outcome of the feeling based education that intentionally values feelings over facts. Worthless degrees are awarded that celebrate the regressive, infantilized, subjective reality of children and not the fact based world of adults. Education in America has reversed itself. Rather than teaching the foundational facts necessary to succeed in the adult world, American education’s focus on student feelings has had a paralyzing effect and produced a Peter Pan generation of low-info dependent voters.

Peter Pan’s classic song is Socialism’s anthem.

We do not live in Never Never land. We live in the United States of America where freedom and opportunity require a commitment to living in the adult world of objective reality. Google Searches for ‘Gender Pay Gap’ Answers, Finds Surprising Results

Google (1 – Liberal) is finding out the hard way that you can never please the left.

While fighting a lawsuit involving around 8,300 employees over an alleged “gender pay gap” and a Labor Department investigation into claims that female employees are systematically underpaid, Google is trying desperately to maintain the image of a fair and equal company. However, in their own self-study, Google found that male employees are actually underpaid more than their female counterparts for similar work. According to a Google pay equity analyst, “[This was a] surprising trend that we didn’t expect.”

In an effort to correct the discrepancy, Google paid out roughly $10 million to 10,677 employees to help level the playing field. Now, in a “shocking” turn of events, Google is now being heavily criticized for raising the salaries of male employees.

For such a successful company, Google certainly isn’t getting any wins here. So how can 2ndVote help?

Take the same advice that we gave Amazon (1.3 – Liberal)stop choosing sides and making decisions based on an agenda.

While the left will laud you for supporting a pro-abortion group like the Center for American Progress, they’ll turn around and blast you over the latest cause célèbre the very next day.

Instead of picking sides and cozying up to leftists, Google could learn a thing or two from Brave.com (3 – Neutral) or DuckDuckGo (3 – Neutral), companies that make better alternatives because they stay out of issue advocacy. Treat employees fairly, stay neutral and, in turn, stay out of the public ire.

VIDEO: Gillette Sweats Damage Control

Just weeks after lecturing men to change their supposedly “toxic” behaviors, Gillette has apparently discovered masculine traits are a good thing.

“Every Hero Sweats, Some Never Show It” is the name of the latest ad by the Procter & Gamble (1.7 – Liberal) brand. The two and a half minute video follows a soldier’s transition from the military to civilian life and highlights the challenges faced by veterans and their families, especially the process of finding a new career.

We emphatically agree that a man providing for his family and defending his country embodies “The Best a Man Can Get” spirit. In fact, 2ndVote Chairman Dr. David Black explained how biology enables men to take on these solemn duties, in his January letter to Proctor & Gamble’s CEO:

Without the male androgens you would not have a very big consumer base for your facial hair shaving products. Furthermore, you would have a society that lacks the best in what men provide. You would no longer have fathers providing for families, brave policemen and firefighters who keep our communities safe, or soldiers who are willing to defend freedoms with their lives.

Given the thematic elements of this latest ad, it appears Dr. Black’s thoughts were passed along to the Gillette marketing team.

However, the original decision to piggy-back onto the misleading “toxic masculinity” narrative has many consumers still skeptical of the Gillette brand’s values.

Kentucky: Refugee Seniors Going Hungry as U.S. Imports More Poverty

One of the good things about this new blog is that I can still bring you stories about refugees while enjoying a much broader choice of news across a wide spectrum of involving frauds, crooks and criminals.

This news, meant to tug on your heartstrings (the Left is good at that!), points to an area of the US Refugee Admissions Program that should make your head explode!

But, before you read it remember: Don’t blame these poor old souls we yanked out of Africa and out of their culture, blame the Open Borders agitators and lobbyists in the refugee industry always on the hunt to import more poverty to America.

Although many of the volunteers on the ground just want to do good by the the refugees, the leadership of the industry headed by Socialists/Marxists! wants to import poverty as a way to reshape America.

If it makes no sense to you that anyone would advocate overloading our welfare system, read about the Cloward and Piven strategy when you have a few extra minutes.

Elder Refugees In Kentucky At Risk for Hunger

Feeding Kentucky, a nonprofit with a mission to alleviate hunger across the Bluegrass State, reports that food insecurity is a reality for one in 10 residents age 60 and older.

Elder refugees in Kentucky face an ever higher risk of hunger due to language barriers and lack of transportation.

On a recent rainy afternoon in Louisville, refugees–some of them in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s–lined up at outdoor tables filled with fresh leafy green lettuce, bright red bell peppers, cucumbers and mushrooms.

Federally funded program for refugees over 60 years old!

Kentucky Refugee Ministries, or KRM, is a resettlement agency that has the state’s only federally-funded program for refugees 60 and older. This once-a-month mobile food pantry is a partnership between KRM and Louisville’s Dare to Care food bank.

Eva Nyerges is the KRM coordinator for the Louisville Refugee Elder Program.

“We have on occasion had people say, ‘You know, I don’t have enough money for food. I don’t have food stamps. Will you take me to a food pantry?’” said Nyerges. “And that’s why we kind of started trying to show individual people their local food pantry and help them get down here to KRM’s mobile food pantry.”

Older refugees arrive in the US and are eligible for SSI and Food Stamps!

Nyerges says most of those in the Refugee Elder Program get Supplemental Security Income, or SSI.

A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service said refugees are eligible for benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, based on income and resources.

“Yes, I’m happy just to get the food,” said Namahoro. When asked what kind of items she was looking for, Bagaza said “tomatoes and other names she doesn’t know, but the food she got she’s happy, it’s good.”At the outdoor food pantry, one of the elder refugees trying to manage two bags of vegetables and an umbrella is 75-year-old Namagishu Namahoro. She’s from the Democratic Republic of Congoand spoke through interpreter Patrick Bagaza.

Five million elderly Americans are going hungry and we bring in more hungry seniors from Africa, Asia and the Middle East!

Even though elder refugees face many challenges in having steady supply of fresh, nutritious food, they are far from alone. Across the nation, nearly five million people age 60 and over are at-risk for hunger.

I checked the data at Wrapsnet just now and see that we have passed the 50,000 DR Congolese flow to the US that Obama promised the UN we would take.

Of the 50,848 DR Congolese the US State Department and its contractors placed in your towns since the beginning of FY14, 2,215 were between the ages of 51-64 and 653 were over 65 years old. (And, those numbers are just for refugees from the DR Congo!).

What do you do?  Every opportunity you get—to speak to an elected official, to write a letter to the editor, or just when talking with friends and neighbors—your message should be WE MUST TAKE CARE OF AMERICANS FIRST!

THE MIDDLE CLASS: Separating Capitalism from Socialism

One of the fundamental differences between capitalism and socialism is in the area of class structure and, unfortunately, many people do not grasp this difference. Under capitalism, there are three levels: an upper class representing super successful people who have earned a fortune, the middle class representing John/Jane Doe who works diligently to put food on the table for their family, and a lower class representing the less fortunate of us. Influence is top-down based on the economic pecking order, thereby creating resentment by those lower in the chain.

Socialism, on the other hand, has just two classes: the ruling class, as represented by the state, and the working class where everyone is equal. I tend to refer to this as a “Master/Slave” relationship as the analogy to slavery is uncanny, where the Master micromanages everything and the Slave puts forth just enough effort to get by, but expects to be taken care of by the Master. There are many other nuances, but for the purposes of this article, the big difference here is the middle class.

A sizable middle class represents an economic engine for a country. Capitalism encourages people to work, to invest and to spend their money, allowing a country to collectively compete. The average person wants nothing more than to earn a respectable livelihood, so they can enjoy life and raise a family unencumbered by overbearing government regulations. As President Calvin Coolidge observed, “After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with producing, buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world. I am strongly of the opinion that the great majority of people will always find these the moving impulses of our life.”

Do people truly understand the power of the middle class? I think they’re starting to overseas. We may not have invented the concept of a middle class, but we sure perfected it, and everyone wants to emulate it. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, countries around the world have been re-configuring their economic policies in order to remain competitive in a global economy. In case you haven’t been paying attention, new middle classes have slowly emerged in such places as China, Belarus, Brazil, Russia, Vietnam, and among South African blacks. People in these countries now have spending power thereby causing a demand for products and services, not to mention a call for construction of new houses and businesses.

In order for capitalism to work, you need to be allowed to have certain freedoms, such as the freedom of expression, the freedom to innovate and invent, the freedom to choose your own path, the freedom to conduct legitimate business, etc. This is why it is rather ironic how some of our former communist foes are now embracing capitalism. Under socialism, there is no protection of intellectual property, such as patents, trade secrets, copyrights, etc. Everything is owned by the state, not the individual.

In the absence of a middle class, you have just the rich and the poor (the “have’s” and the “have not’s”) which lends itself to being a feudal state controlled by dictators or monarchies. Such a state does not operate harmoniously, corruption is rampant, and unrest is common. The “have not’s”, which is a sizable majority, have little to earn and spend. Consequently, the economy sputters and stagnates which our communist friends discovered the hard way.

As mentioned, in order for capitalism to work, certain freedoms have to be permitted to allow a person to work, earn, and save their money, not to have it redistributed to others by government decree. This means there is an explicit relationship between freedom and capitalism. Implicitly, it means capitalism requires a certain amount of democracy to allow the citizens to participate in how the government runs, which means capitalism cannot work under a dictatorship (see Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, et al). As an aside, it is the middle class who elects government officials, not the upper or lower classes. The upper class may support politicians economically, but it is the middle class that casts the votes.

When someone asks me about my political leanings, I tell them I am an unabashed capitalist. This of course means I believe in liberty, and the right of the individual to lead a meaningful life, and I abhor any attempt by government to alter this or forcibly redistribute the wealth earned by the individual. I can understand government monitoring the legality of someone’s occupation, but aside from this they should not hinder a person’s right to earn a living.

Capitalism is our greatest export. It represents the seeds of freedom and economic prosperity. If it spreads, it could lead to world stability and peace which, of course, certain tyrants and crackpots openly reject. For example, Iraq will be an interesting experiment in capitalism. If Iraq succeeds, freedom and democracy will succeed, which is why Middle Eastern terrorists desperately want to see it fail as it represents a challenge to their authority. It’s not so much about religion as it is about control. Capitalism is a genuine threat to feudalism, a system which has no regards for the rights of the human-being and respect for the human spirit. Make no mistake, feudalism is barbaric.

To summarize:

  1. In order to effectively compete in a world economy, you need capitalism.
  2. In order for capitalism to flourish, you need freedom and democracy.
  3. A byproduct of capitalism is a sizable middle class with spending power.
  4. Therefore, any attempt to change capitalism is a threat to freedom, democracy, and the middle class.

No, I am not a proponent of government sponsored bailouts, stimulus packages or the creation of artificial jobs. Such devices does a disservice to capitalism and is unnatural. It is not government’s role to tamper with capitalism, only to establish the environment for capitalism to flourish, namely assuring freedom and protecting rights, serving its constituents, and providing incentives to encourage new avenues of business.

I am also of the belief that capitalism is very much akin to Darwin’s “natural selection” whereby goods and services evolve and improve in order to effectively compete. Under socialism, there is no competition as everything is controlled by the state. From this perspective, it is not “natural.” In other words, capitalism recognizes change through competition; in order for it to succeed, you must allow for the right to failure. By doing so, you assure our right to succeed.

Why The U.S. House Hate Resolution Fails To Stop Hate

The Democratic Party led House of Representatives passed H.RES. 183 titled.”Condemning anti-Semitism as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contradictory to the values and aspirations that define the people of the United States and condemning anti-Muslim discrimination and bigotry against minorities as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contrary to the values and aspirations of the United States” [See full text below].

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Cornell Law School says this about the First Amendment:

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition.  It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices.  It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely.  It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

Here are some reasons why H.RES. 183 fails to stop hate:

  1. H.RES. 183 uses the First Amendment as the basis of its condemning anti-Semitism. This violates the freedom of expression provision.
  2. The title of H.RES. 183 condemns anti-Semitism but also condemns Muslim discrimination. It was Rep. Ilhan Omar (Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party of Minnesota) who published multiple the anti-Semitic tweets that led to this resolution. Omar is a Muslim. Therefore, this resolution is to protect her and the Muslim ummah (community) as much as the Jewish people. There is no mention of those spewing anti-Christian, or any other belief system for that matter, hate and bigotry.
  3. H.RES. 183 reads the First Amendment is “committed to the principles of tolerance and religious freedom.” H.RES. 183 does not condemn, or even mention, the person who was clearly anti-Semitic and intolerant, Rep. Ilhan Omar.
  4. The word tolerance does not appear in the First Amendment. World Net Daily reported in October, 2018, “A deputy communications director for Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has been suspended for a week for a tweet threatening members of the GOP with ‘guillotines’.” Tolerance is a two way street. When tolerance becomes a one way street it leads to cultural suicide.
  5. There is no mention, nor examples, of Muslim intolerance against Jews, other religions and minority groups in America of which there are many, such as the 50 victims of the Pulse Night Club attack in Orlando, FL.
  6. H.RES. 183 mentions “Islamophobia.” Islamophobia is the greatest concern. H.RES. 183. “(5) acknowledges the harm suffered by Muslims and others from the harassment, discrimination, and violence that result from anti-Muslim bigotry.” Use of this word stifles freedom of speech. There are atrocities committed by the followers of Mohammed globally. These are not mentioned, nor are there examples give such as the atrocities committed by ISIS, in the resolution.
  7. H. RES. 183 leaves out Christians in Congress who have received death threats. H.RES. 183 (7) condemns the death threats received by Jewish and Muslim Members of Congress, including in recent weeks;
  8. H. RES. 183 ham strings law enforcement from targeting criminal illegal aliens, terrorists and gang members (i.e. al Qaeda, ISIS, MS 13, Mexican human traffickers) (8) encourages law enforcement and government officials to avoid conduct that raises the specter of unconstitutional profiling against anyone because of their race, religion, nationality, political, or particular social group, including the assignment of blame or targeting members of an entire religious group for increased suspicion, based on the conduct of a single individual or small group of individuals;

H. RES. 183 relies also on the Fourteenth Amendment which reads:

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The Bret Kavanaugh hearing is a prime example of guilty until proven innocent. The Green New Deal is an example of depriving Americans of their property and liberty. The New York State law allowing infanticide deprives every new born baby (a person) of life.

As Bret Stephens in a New York Times op-ed wrote:

“It says something about the progressive movement today that it has no trouble denouncing Republican racism, real and alleged, every day of the week but has so much trouble calling out a naked anti-Semite in its own ranks. This is how progressivism becomes Corbynism… It’s how self-declared anti-fascists develop their own forms of fascism. Why are they afraid of open debate? And what about all the bigotry on their side?”

H.RES. 183 will not stop the hate and bigotry in our current political environment. It actually protects certain classes over others.

As Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) warned on the House floor,  “What makes this so dangerous and the reason I will vote against this resolution, is because we came here because of an anti-Semitic remark, and we came here to condemn anti-Semitism, but this resolution… now condemns just about everything.”

When you condemn everything, your condemn nothing. H.RES. 183 is a failure on many counts.

Mr. Raskin (for himself and Mr. Richmond) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned


RESOLUTION

Condemning anti-Semitism as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contradictory to the values and aspirations that define the people of the United States and condemning anti-Muslim discrimination and bigotry against minorities as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contrary to the values and aspirations of the United States.

Whereas the first amendment to the Constitution established the United States as a country committed to the principles of tolerance and religious freedom, and the 14th amendment to the Constitution established equal protection of the laws as the heart of justice in the United States;

Whereas adherence to these principles is vital to the progress of the American people and the diverse communities and religious groups of the United States;

Whereas whether from the political right, center, or left, bigotry, discrimination, oppression, racism, and imputations of dual loyalty threaten American democracy and have no place in American political discourse;

Whereas White supremacists in the United States have exploited and continue to exploit bigotry and weaponize hate for political gain, targeting traditionally persecuted peoples, including African Americans, Native Americans, and other people of color, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, immigrants, and others with verbal attacks, incitement, and violence;

Whereas the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., taught that persecution of any American is an assault on the rights and freedoms of all Americans;

Whereas on August 11 and 12, 2017, self-identified neo-Confederates, White nationalists, neo-Nazis, and Ku Klux Klansmen held White supremacist events in Charlottesville, Virginia, where they marched on a synagogue under the Nazi swastika, engaged in racist and anti-Semitic demonstrations and committed brutal and deadly violence against peaceful Americans;

Whereas a White nationalist murdered nine African-American worshipers at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, on the evening of June 17, 2015, in the hopes of igniting a nationwide race war;

Whereas, on October 27, 2018, the perpetrator of the deadliest attack on Jewish people in the history of the United States killed 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life Synagogue building in Pittsburgh and reportedly stated that he “wanted all Jews to die”;

Whereas anti-Semitism is the centuries-old bigotry and form of racism faced by Jewish people simply because they are Jews;

Whereas in 2017 the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported a 37-percent increase in hate crimes against Jews or Jewish institutions and found that attacks against Jews or Jewish institutions made up 58.1 percent of all religious-based hate crimes;

Whereas there is an urgent need to ensure the safety and security of Jewish communities, including synagogues, schools, cemeteries, and other institutions;

Whereas Jews are the targets of anti-Semitic violence at even higher rates in many other countries than they are in the United States;

Whereas it is a foreign policy priority of the United States to monitor and combat anti-Semitism abroad;

Whereas anti-Semitism includes blaming Jews as Jews when things go wrong; calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or extremist view of religion; or making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotyped allegations about Jews;

Whereas Jewish people are subject in the media and political campaigns to numerous other dangerous anti-Semitic myths as well, including that Jews control the United States Government or seek global, political, and financial domination and that Jews are obsessed with money;

Whereas scapegoating and targeting of Jews in the United States have persisted for many years, including by the Ku Klux Klan, the America First Committee, and by modern neo-Nazis;

Whereas accusing Jews of being more loyal to Israel or to the Jewish community than to the United States constitutes anti-Semitism because it suggests that Jewish citizens cannot be patriotic Americans and trusted neighbors, when Jews have loyally served our Nation every day since its founding, whether in public or community life or military service;

Whereas accusations of dual loyalty generally have an insidious and pernicious history, including—

(1) the discriminatory incarceration of Americans of Japanese descent during World War II on their basis of race and alleged dual loyalty;

(2) the Dreyfus affair, when Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish French artillery captain, was falsely convicted of passing secrets to Germany based on his Jewish background;

(3) when the loyalty of President John F. Kennedy was questioned because of his Catholic faith; and

(4) the post-9/11 conditions faced by Muslim-Americans in the United States, including Islamophobia and false and vicious attacks on and threats to Muslim-Americans for alleged association with terrorism;

Whereas anti-Muslim bigotry entails prejudicial attitudes towards Muslims and people who are perceived to be Muslim, including the irrational belief that Muslims are inherently violent, disloyal, and foreign;

Whereas Muslims and people perceived to be Muslim are subjected to false and dangerous stereotypes and myths including unfair allegations that they sympathize with individuals who engage in violence or terror or support the oppression of women, Jews, and other vulnerable communities;

Whereas in 2017, mosques were bombed in Bloomington, Minnesota, and burned in Austin, Texas, Victoria, Texas, Bellevue, Washington, and Thonotosassa, Florida, and mass attacks on Muslim communities were planned against communities in Islamberg, New York, in 2019, Jacksonville, Florida, in 2017, and Garden City, Kansas, in 2016;

Whereas the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that hate crimes against Muslims or Muslim institutions in the United States increased by over 99 percent between 2014 and 2016;

Whereas attacks motivated by bigotry against those who are Muslim or perceived to be Muslim have substantially increased since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks;

Whereas the violation of an individual’s civil rights based on his or her actual or perceived membership in a particular religious group clearly violates the Constitution and laws of the United States; and

Whereas all Americans, including Jews, Muslims, and Christians and people of all faiths and no faith, have a stake in fighting anti-Semitism, as all Americans have a stake in fighting every form of bigotry and hatred against people based on religion, race, or place of birth and origin: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) rejects the perpetuation of anti-Semitic stereotypes in the United States and around the world, including the pernicious myth of dual loyalty and foreign allegiance, especially in the context of support for the United States-Israel alliance;

(2) condemns anti-Semitic acts and statements as hateful expressions of intolerance that are contradictory to the values that define the people of the United States;

(3) reaffirms its support for the mandate of the United States Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism as part of the broader policy priority of fostering international religious freedom and protecting human rights all over the world;

(4) rejects attempts to justify hatred or violent attacks as an acceptable expression of disapproval or frustration over political events in the Middle East or elsewhere;

(5) acknowledges the harm suffered by Muslims and others from the harassment, discrimination, and violence that result from anti-Muslim bigotry;

(6) condemns anti-Muslim discrimination and bigotry against all minorities as contrary to the values of the United States;

(7) condemns the death threats received by Jewish and Muslim Members of Congress, including in recent weeks;

(8) encourages law enforcement and government officials to avoid conduct that raises the specter of unconstitutional profiling against anyone because of their race, religion, nationality, political, or particular social group, including the assignment of blame or targeting members of an entire religious group for increased suspicion, based on the conduct of a single individual or small group of individuals; and

(9) encourages all public officials to confront the reality of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry, as well as historical struggles against them, to ensure that the United States will live up to the transcendent principles of tolerance, religious freedom, and equal protection as embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the first and 14th amendments to the Constitution.
