Court Rejects Democratic Party Intervention in Lawsuit Challenging Illinois Vote-Counting for Two Weeks after Election Day

Washington, D.C. – Judicial Watch announced today that a federal court rejected a motion by Democratic Party of Illinois to intervene as a defendant in Judicial Watch’s lawsuit challenging an Illinois election law permitting mail-in ballots to be received as long as two weeks after Election Day.

The ruling and opinion come in the federal lawsuit Judicial Watch filed on behalf of Congressman Mike Bost and two other registered Illinois voters to prevent state election officials from extending Election Day for 14 days beyond the date established by federal law (Rep.Michael J. Bost, Laura Pollastrini, and Susan Sweeney v. The Illinois State Board of Elections and Bernadette Matthews (No. 1:22-cv-02754)).

In the court’s ruling and opinion on the Democratic Party of Illinois motion to intervene, U.S. District Judge John F. Kness held that its participation would “delay this time-sensitive case:”

[Democratic Party of Illinois] cannot meet its burden to show that its interests will not be adequately represented by the parties to the case. As a result, [Democratic Party of Illinois] is not entitled to intervene as of right. Separately, because allowing [Democratic Party of Illinois] to intervene would threaten to delay this time-sensitive case further, the Court, in its discretion, denies [Democratic Party of Illinois] motion seeking permission to intervene as a party under Rule 24(b). Accordingly, the Court denies DPI’s motion in its entirety.

(The Democratic Party of Illinois is represented by the Elias Law Group, whose founding partner is Marc Elias, the controversial lawyer for Hillary Clinton’s campaign.)

Federal law defines Election Day as “the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of every even-numbered year.” The initial complaint states:

Despite Congress’ clear statement regarding a single national Election Day, Illinois has expanded Election Day by extending by 14 days the date for receipt and counting of vote-by-mail ballots

Judicial Watch points out that the current Illinois election law allows vote-by-mail ballots received up to 14 days “after the polls close on Election Day” to be counted as if they were cast and received on or before Election Day. Illinois law also provides that “[e]ven vote-by-mail ballots without postmarks shall be counted if received up to 14 calendar days after Election Day if the ballots are dated on or before Election Day.”

Judicial Watch’s lawsuit notes:

The Board … advised that the number of ballots received after Election Day through November 17, 2020, could materially affect the unofficial election results.

[ *** ]

[Illinois’ own data indicates that] Illinois received 266,417 vote-by-mail ballots statewide during the period from November 3rd through November 17th.

[ *** ]

[M]ost of the 266,417 vote-by-mail ballots were received after Election Day, which would mean that as many as 4.4% of votes cast in 2020 were received after Election Day. [Emphasis in original]

Judicial Watch argues that holding voting open for 14 days past Election Day violates the constitutional rights of voters and candidates:

By counting untimely and illegal ballots received after Election Day and diluting Plaintiffs’ timely cast and received ballots, Defendants, acting under color of Illinois law, have deprived and are depriving Plaintiffs of rights protected under the First Amendment and 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

“The Democratic Party failed to gum up this important lawsuit for election integrity,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “We are supposed to have an Election Day, not Election Weeks – or months. Illinois’ 14-day extension of Election Day beyond the date set by Congress is illegal, violates the civil rights of voters, and encourages fraud.”

The Delaware Supreme Court recently struck down the state’s vote-by-mail and same-day voter registration statutes for violating the Delaware Constitution. In making its ruling, the court effectively concurs with the amicus curiae brief Judicial Watch submitted in the case, which argues the Delaware statute impermissibly expands those practices far beyond the limits set in the Delaware Constitution.

In a separate Judicial Watch election lawsuit against Illinois, a federal court ruled in June 2021 that the lawsuit could proceed against Illinois officials for denying public access to Illinois’ voter registration database.

In February 2022, Judicial Watch settled its voter rolls clean-up lawsuit against North Carolina and two of its counties after the North Carolina removed over 430,000 ineligible names from the voter rolls.

In March 2022, a Maryland court ruled in favor of Judicial Watch’s challenge to Maryland’s Democratic legislature “extreme” congressional redistricting gerrymander.

For more than 25 years, Judicial Watch has been known for its aggressive, leading-edge use of public records laws and lawsuits, as well as taxpayer, civil rights and whistleblower protection litigation to fight government corruption. Judicial Watch is a national leader in voting integrity and voting rights. As part of this effort, Judicial Watch assembled a team of highly experienced voting rights attorneys who stopped discriminatory elections in Hawaii, and cleaned up voter rolls in California, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, among other achievements.

Christine Svenson, Esq., of Svenson Law Offices in Palatine, Illinois, is assisting Judicial Watch with the lawsuit.

Democrats Ask: Have You Hugged a Criminal Today?

In a debate last night, Lee Zeldin accused Democrat New York Governor Kathy Hochul of being soft on crime.

He pointed out she bragged about her support for cashless bail and he called for the state’s cashless bail law to be suspended.  “I don’t think that if you are Mexican cartel drug smugglers busted with $1.2 million worth of crystal meth that you should just be instantly released on cashless bail,” he said.   When Hochul tried to pivot to gun control, Zeldin said plenty of serious crimes are being committed without guns.  “You have people who are afraid of being pushed in front of oncoming subway cars. They’re being stabbed, beaten to death on the street with hammers,” he said.  Zeldin then pledged, if elected governor, to fire Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Soros Progressive prosecutor who has been criticized for not prosecuting violent crimes.

Polls show crime is a campaign issue, as well it should be.  The Democrats’ insane criminal justice policies – from cashless bail to defunding the police to allowing the homeless to camp out in your front yard without penalty – should be on trial in this election.

Need more proof the Democrats are out of their ever-lovin’ minds when it comes to criminal justice reform?  Consider these recent stories:

Senate candidate John Fetterman in Pennsylvania thinks murderers serving time in prison are just like your grandfather and grandmother.  That’s insane.  This from a guy who wants to let one-third of all criminals in prison out because it will make everyone safer.  The man is a certified lunatic.

Cashless bail has produced stories like the New York man, previously arrested 12 times, released without bail attacking two women in broad daylight.  One was pushing a baby stroller.  Before he grabbed her neck, he shouted, “ F*** you, B***!  Go ahead and call the cops, I don’t care.”  That’s insane.

But not as insane as what goes on now in Minneapolis, where police have been constrained from pursuing suspects in vehicles.  Car thieves race around neighborhoods and wave at the police while roaring by them in stolen cars.  But here’s what’s really insane: The same kind of limited vehicle pursuit law was recently passed in Washington state.  Officers are supposed to wait for clearance from headquarters before initiating pursuit.  Suspects are now calling 9-1-1 to report officers who pursue them.  “I have a cop chasing me in violation of House Bill 1047,” they tell the operators.  Things have truly gone upside down.

All this insanity has real-world consequences.  Businesses are closing in San Francisco and Philadelphia because of rampant crime.  The number of police officers injured or killed in surprise ambushes has soared since rioters were given a free pass for burning down cities and attacking law enforcement in the summer of 2020.   The Democrats cause a soaring crime problem, then go on TV and call anyone who brings attention to it a racist for pointing it out.

But the Democrats know their policies have been ruinous.  That’s why they’re trying to run away from them in this election.  They say the stupidest things like they were never for defunding the police when they obviously were.  Kamala Harris now claims she never supported an organization that bailed out murderers and rapists, but her tweet asking people to donate to the organization is still up.

Democrats have also shown by their actions they know they went down the wrong road.  The Governor of New Mexico pushed cashless bail and defunding the police, but is now begging the feds to send more law enforcement to her state because the crime is so bad there.  And I’ve lost count of the number of cities that have scrambled to re-fund the police after defunding the police caused crime to spiral out of control.

The Democrats have shown you by word and deed they admit their criminal justice reforms were disastrous.  But, unfortunately, their policies caused all kinds of real-world insanity and ruinous consequences.  If you listen to all this and say to yourself, ‘I’m still going to vote Democrat,’ then YOU are the one who is insane.

POLL: Most Americans, Including Even Some Democrats, Think Trans Madness Has Gone Too Far

Here yet again we see how far the insane far-left agenda of the Democrats really is from the genuine concerns and actual perspective of the American people.

The American people, or at least the ones who still have a healthy sense of reality, are thoroughly sickened by what leftists are pushing on children with their trans madness.

Even many Democrats, as you can see from the results of this poll, have had enough. The Democrats and the left have failed the American people in every possible way. They have rendered us poorer, more unsafe, more vulnerable, and more uncertain than ever before. And they’re even trying to steal our children. But people are seeing through them.

Majority Of American Voters, Including Many Democrats, Oppose Sex-Change Surgeries For Minors: POLL

by Sarah Weaver, Daily Caller, October 25, 2022:

A majority of American voters believe the transgender movement has gone too far in recommending that underage children transition to the opposite sex via drugs and surgery, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

The poll, put out by Summit Ministries in conjunction with McLaughlin and Associates, was conducted between October 12 and 17 and surveyed 1,000 likely general election voters by political affiliation, race/ethnicity, age, and place of residence.

According to the poll, 65% of respondents believed the transgender movement had gone too far in recommending sex change surgeries and drugs to minors, while only 21% did not. Interestingly, 44% of Biden voters in 2020 agreed with the majority, while only 34% said transgenderism has not gone too far. Along racial and ethnic lines, 48% of African-Americans and 56% of Hispanics agreed with the majority of respondents….

Fifty-seven percent believed financial gain motivated the medical industry to provide gender transition services to children, while only 24% thought it wanted to help children. A significantly higher percentage of Trump 2020 voters than Biden 2020 voters believed the medical industry was motivated by financial gain. Of Trump voters, 76% said they were motivated by greed. Nevertheless, a still-sizable 39% of Biden voters shared this view….

It matters that Rishi Sunak has become the UK’s first prime minister of Indian descent

Following his uncontested run at the top job, Rishi Sunak acquires the less-than-coveted title of second successive un-elected British prime minister to take office in 2022. However, coming from Punjabi heritage, he also takes on the more esteemed title of the nation’s first British Asian leader.

Sunak was born in the southern English port city of Southampton in 1980. His father, Yashvir, was a family doctor and his mother, Usha, a pharmacist. They were born and brought up in present-day Kenya and Tanzania, respectively, before moving to the UK. Sunak’s grandparents on both sides were from India and had migrated to East Africa.

Indians share a long history with African traders in the Indian Ocean region – links that were strengthened in the 19th century. During the time of the British empire, and especially following the creation of the East African Protectorate (also known as British East Africa) in 1885, many Indians migrated to the region, which was then under British control. The Indian population grew rapidly and prospered economically.

Many Indian immigrants and their descendants remain in East Africa today, but significant numbers left in the second half of the 20th century. In the 1960s, the region became a less hospitable place for Indians, most infamously evidenced by the expulsion of the Indian minority from Uganda under the orders of then-president Idi Amin. It was at this time that a significant proportion of the Indian diaspora left Kenya and Tanzania. Instead of returning to India, many settled in the US, Canada and the UK.

Sunak’s parents may have been born in East Africa, but his cultural affinity lies with his Indian roots. He is a practising Hindu and does not, for example, eat beef. As he said in a 2015 interview:

British Indian is what I tick on the census, we have a category for it. I am thoroughly British, this is my home and my country, but my religious and cultural heritage is Indian, my wife is Indian.

A dream – for some

The Sunaks’ personal family history could be read as a testament to the British dream: the idea that the UK is a land of opportunity where, no matter where you come from, if you work hard, you can make it right to the top. The formula for success is simple hard work and determination.

Both his parents studied in the UK – his father, medicine at the University of Liverpool, his mother, pharmacy at my own institution, Aston University. Sunak has spoken about the sacrifices his parents made to give him “opportunities they could only dream of. But it was Britain, our country that gave them, and millions like them, the chance of a better future.”

Not all immigrants, of course, get to afford for their children the best education that money can buy – no matter how strong their work ethic. Privately educated at Winchester, one of England’s oldest and most expensive public boarding schools, Sunak’s upbringing was undoubtedly privileged. He followed the well-worn path of many in the British political elite, studying politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford. After graduating he entered the world of investment banking, landing a job with Goldman Sachs before going to Stanford University in the US to complete an MBA.

He married into wealth. His wife, Akshata Murty, is the daughter of an Indian billionaire, NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys. Her shares in her father’s company make her one of the richest women in the UK. The couple have a combined wealth of £730 million. Sunak can thereby allegedly lay claim to another title – the richest man to ever sit in the House of Commons.

A scandal over his wife’s non-domiciled tax status threatened to end Sunak’s career less than a year ago but he somehow managed to recover.

Acutely aware of the potential for his fortune to jar with the experiences of the public, Sunak ensures that his image is carefully curated (with the help of a PR company). Choreographed snaps and videos more akin to a social media influencer than a politician have characterised his every move since becoming a cabinet minister in Boris Johnson’s government in 2020.

This is nevertheless a big moment. Whatever the mixed feelings are around his personal fortune, becoming the first non-white leader of the country is important. In some ways, the Conservative party has a lot to be proud of when it comes to promoting ethnic minority colleagues. In Liz Truss’s administration, ethnic minority politicians held three of the key posts: chancellor of the exchequer, home secretary and foreign secretary – albeit only for a short while.

However, they were all also, like Rishi Sunak, privately educated. There is certainly room for a specific kind of diversity in the Conservative Party.

Interestingly, Sunak was not popular with the party’s membership when he first ran for the leadership in the summer of 2022. A possible explanation – and one which certainly warrants further research – is that the membership is less comfortable with an ethnic minority leader than it lets on. In a now infamous radio show, a caller professing to be a Tory Party member stated that he, “along with most people”, didn’t think that Sunak was British. While this was the view of one caller on a radio show, such views are a reminder that some people still don’t accept British Asian identity to be truly British.

The prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, was quick to congratulate Sunak, referring to him as “the ‘living bridge’ of UK Indians”. In the difficult waters of British and indeed international politics, all eyes will be watching to see how well the bridge stands.

Rishi Sunak, A Hindu Come to Judgment

It’s official. Rishi Sunak is the new prime minister of Great Britain. He’s a British-born Hindu, whose work before he entered politics was in finance. Almost all of the coverage of his dizzying ascent has focused on his economic policies, his experience at Goldman Sachs and as a hedge fund manager, and his presumed ability to “calm the markets” at a time of “great turbulence.” But what about those who come to Jihad Watch, who want to know not so much about his economic plans as his views on Islam, Muslims, and Israel?

The first thing to note is that Sunak is not just Hindu by descent, but a seriously practicing Hindu. He chose to be sworn in as an MP on a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. He is known to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights. He has also been photographed lighting candles outside No. 10 Downing Street to mark the occasion. As a practicing Hindu, and a well-educated man, he cannot help but know what the Muslim invasion and conquest of much of India meant for its indigenous Hindu inhabitants. The celebrated Indian historian K. S. Lal estimates that under Muslim rule, between 1000 and 1525 A.D., 80 million Hindus were slaughtered by Muslims. And many more Hindus were killed between 1525 and the onset of British rule. Rishi Sunak knows about those killings, and also about the hundreds of millions of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi Muslims who are the descendants of Hindus who converted to Islam not out of conviction, but in order to escape death or dhimmitude.

Can we therefore expect Rishi Sunak to take a dim view of Islam and its demographic inroads in the UK? He has said he will crack down on Islamic terrorism, which “is a significant terror threat” for the UK. He has added that he also plans to scrutinize publicly funded charities which could be promoting “extremist” ideology. Sunak has suggested that one way to fight “Islamist extremism” would be to separate “[Muslim] extremists” from the UK’s regular prison population. It’s something that should have been done long ago, and not just in the UK but throughout the West, once it became clear that imprisoned Muslims had a literally captive audience on whom they could practice their prison da’wah. Too many non-Muslim prisoners have turned to Islam, either out of fear — Muslims constitute the “biggest gang” behind bars — or conviction, the result of constant exposure to those engaged in daw’ah. Thus does the British prison system work to swell the faith’s ranks. And too many laodicean Muslims become “radicalized” while in prison – that is, become more fanatical in their faith — by prison preachers who push them towards “extremism.” Ideally, Sunak will propose keeping the “extremist” Muslims in their own prisons, while lukewarm Muslims will be kept in other prisons, where they will not be radicalized by the “extremists.” Finally, non-Muslims would be held in still other prisons, where no Muslims will be held, and hence there will be little likelihood of conversions.

Sunak said he was “horrified” by the need for security outside Jewish schools, and promised that as prime minister he would increase the government’s financial support for Jewish security organizations such as the Community Security Trust. He promised that “I will do everything to root antisemitism out and protect people who need it.”

Asked at a Conservative Friends of Israel meeting about terrorism from Gaza and the West Bank, he did not offer any of the usual niffnoff about the need to give the Palestinians “hope” as a way to tamp down violence. Instead, he was uncompromising: “You will have my total commitment that I will fight very hard for the security of people in Israel, and that means being tougher and calling out behavior from Palestinians if need be.”

At the same Conservative Friends of Israel hustings this August, Rishi Sunak denounced the charge of “apartheid” flung at Israel, and described the Jewish state as a “shining beacon of hope’ Here is a fuller version of his remarks:

With remarkable frequency it emerges that those who label Israel an apartheid state also deny Israel’s right to exist. It is a claim that stands as an obstacle to peace and the government should be calling it out at the UN and wherever else it is used.

The apartheid claim is not only factually incorrect but quite frankly offensive. Like any nation, Israel is not perfect — but it is a vibrant multi-ethnic democracy with a free press and the rule of law. It stands as a shining beacon of hope in a region of autocracies and religious extremists.

And then he said what is perhaps most important, and reassuring to many of us, that “there is a very strong case” for moving the British Embassy to Jerusalem, which, he added, “is indisputably the historic capital” of the Jewish people.

Out of the frying-pan of Liz Truss, who spoke of moving the Embassy to Jerusalem, into the fire of Rishi Sunak, who says the same, but with even more conviction and feeling. If I were a Palestinian, I’d now be in a Slough of Despond.

FBI, Biden officials worked with Big Tech to censor true and accurate material, calling it ‘disinformation’

Foes of jihad violence and Sharia oppression were early targets of this censorship. We are heavily blocked, banned, and shadowbanned all over, as Big Tech does all it can, no doubt with the applause if not cooperation of the feds, to ensure that as few people as possible are exposed to the facts we present.

Lawsuit reveals vast censorship scheme by Big Tech and the federal government

by Miranda Devine, New York Post, October 23, 2022:

A little-noticed federal lawsuit, Missouri v. Biden, is uncovering astonishing evidence of an entrenched censorship scheme cooked up between the federal government and Big Tech that would make Communist China proud.

So far, 67 officials or agencies — including the FBI — have been accused in the lawsuit of violating the First Amendment by pressuring Facebook, Twitter and Google to censor users for alleged misinformation or disinformation.

Victims of the Biden-Big Tech “censorship enterprise” include The Post, whose Hunter Biden laptop exposé was suppressed by Facebook and then Twitter in October 2020 after the FBI went to Facebook, warning it with great specificity to watch out for a “dump” of Russian disinformation, pertaining to Joe Biden, with an uncanny resemblance to our stories.

“We allege that top-ranking Biden administration officials colluded with those social media companies to suppress speech about the Hunter Biden laptop story, the origins of COVID-19, the efficacy of masks, and election integrity,” is how the lawsuit was summarized by intrepid Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who is leading the action.

The censorship related to alleged “misinformation” about pandemic lockdowns, vaccines and COVID-19, and included material from the esteemed infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists associated with the Great Barrington Declaration, which proved over time to be correct and eventually much of which was adopted as official policy by the CDC.

Defendants include FBI special agents Elvis Chan and Laura Dehmlow, who gave Facebook that detailed “disinformation” briefing right before The Post was censored; White House press secretaries, current and former, Karine Jean-Pierre and Jen Psaki; Dr. Anthony Fauci, the president’s chief medical adviser, and former White House senior COVID-19 adviser Andrew Slavitt; counsel to President Biden Dana Remus; the DHS over the disbanded Disinformation Governance Board; the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; the FDA; the State Department; and the US Election Assistance Commission.

Last month a federal judge ordered a reluctant Fauci and Jean-Pierre to hand over their records, so the case is progressing nicely.

This civil action by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana, in partnership with such red-pilled lawyers as Jenin Younes at the New Civil Liberties Alliance, overlaps with a separate lawsuit by former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson, whose legal victories so far have forced Twitter to reinstate his account after he was banned (although the cat-and-mouse game continues as he is currently suspended again)….

The Floodgates Just Opened For A Red Tsunami, Analysis Finds

Republicans could win another 12 to 25 seats in the House of Representatives in a massive sweep this November, a new analysis from Cook Political Report predicted.

The predictions present an even more optimistic situation for Republicans than Cook’s last analysis, which predicted 10-20 seat gains for the GOP. Seats with Democratic incumbents were moved from “likely D” to “toss up” in four races, and two races with Democratic incumbents were moved from “toss up” to “likely R” in this week’s analysis.

“Enthusiasm is on our side, as evidenced by historic turnout from Republicans in primaries and early voting,” a GOP spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Americans are rejecting Democrats’ failures from high prices to out-of-control crime to their woke agenda. Democrats are hemorrhaging support amongst voters across every state, district, and demographic.”

Republicans are beating Democrats in voter enthusiasm with a 78%-69% edge, strengthening their September lead but still not matching their lead prior to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, according to Cook. Democrats are generally performing worst in blue states that swung heavily for Biden in 2020 including New York, Oregon and Connecticut; Cook attributes this to voters in red and purple states fearing abortion restrictions.

The House is currently controlled by Democrats by an eight-seat margin, but the results predicted by Cook would give the GOP a four-to-17 seat edge. Republicans have maintained a consistent lead in midterm polls, with voters primarily concerned about inflation and the economy and rating the GOP as more trustworthy in handling those issues.

Gov. DeSantis: ‘The Only Worn-Out Old Donkey I’m Looking To Put Out To Pasture Is Charlie Crist’

WATCH: DeSantis debates Crist in Florida governor’s race showdown.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took a shot at, what he called, his “worn-out old donkey” opponent at Monday’s debate against Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist.

During the fiery debate that took place in the wake of the upcoming Nov. 8 election, the two clashed on issues including inflation, taxes, COVID-19 lockdowns and gender transitions for minors. The moderator also asked the candidates about their plans to reduce inflation and its effects on the people of Florida.

Crist argued that DeSantis repeatedly mentioned Biden in his answer because he intends to run against him in 2024, though the governor has never publicly announced his interests in running for president.

“Well listen, I know that Charlie is interested in talking about 2024 and [President] Joe Biden but I just want to make things very, very clear. The only worn-out old donkey I’m looking to put out to pasture is Charlie Crist,” DeSantis said. “And you want to talk about standing up for taxpayers, when Charlie Crist was governor, he ran saying he would not raise taxes and he signed off on the largest increase in taxes and fees in the history of the state of Florida. We just enacted the largest decrease of taxes in the history of Florida.”

“Well Ron, we know you love to bully people and the name-calling you just exchanged, I can take it. But you shouldn’t do it when children stand behind you at a press conference when they’re wearing a mask,” Crist said. “But apparently that’s your nature and that’s too bad.”

The Democratic candidate was referencing a moment in March when DeSantis told a group of college students standing behind his podium at the University of South Florida that they did not have to wear masks during his speech.

During the debate, Crist accused DeSantis of making “political war zones” out of the state’s public school system by signing the Parental Rights in Education bill earlier in the year to bar educators from teaching sexual orientation and gender identity to students in kindergarten through third grade.

“When you oppose the parents rights in education bill, which prevents six, seven [and] eight-year-olds from having sexuality, gender ideology injected into their curriculum, you are the one that’s waging culture war,” DeSantis said. “I’m simply defending parents and students because it’s inappropriate to have that in elementary school, it’s inappropriate to tell a six-year-old that they were born in the wrong body, it’s inappropriate to tell an eight-year-old that they may have been born a girl but maybe they’re really a boy. That’s wrong. We need to do the basics, we need to teach them to read, write, add and subtract.”

The governor also said that he will protect women’s sports by banning biological males from competing against females. In response, Crist accused him of “dividing” the people of Florida.

On the topic of abortion, DeSantis touted legislation that he signed in April, which banned abortion after 15 weeks gestation with the exception of saving the mother’s life.

The moderator asked the two candidates about their stances on performing transitioning procedures for minors, to which DeSantis stood firmly against puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgeries due to some cases where minors recover from gender dysphoria.

“You should not mutilate minors,” he said. “And they went through this when they were minors and now they regret it and other countries in Europe that went down this road have now backtracked and so we’re doing the right thing, it’s inappropriate to be doing what’s basically genital mutilation.”

Crist accused DeSantis of believing to know better than a medical professional and an individual on their “health” and “right to choose.” The governor said they are young kids who lack the temperament to undergo a “radical procedure” that changes their physical being for life.

The Golden Age for Jews in America: Coming to its End?

A reflection on the turning points.

The decline in the favorability of mainstream American views toward Israel has coincided with a rise in antisemitic violence, particularly in large metropolises, promoted by Islamo-Leftist groups.

By now, we have read countless articles warning of the coming end of the Jewish golden era in America. The dwindling number of Americans identifying as Jews (now around 4.5 million—half of all Americans of Jewish descent), the passing of the Holocaust generation and the fading memory of the Holocaust itself, ideological polarization and illiberalism are just a few of the reasons discussed.

Over the span of Jewish history, across centuries and continents, the Jewish people had many periods of prosperity. Most well-known was the Golden Age in Spain from the mid-12th century until the end of the 14th century. Under the rule of the Muslim Umayyad Caliphate, “Al-Andalus”—modern day Spain—became a haven for Jewish culture in which art, literature, philosophy, and theology. This peaceful period ended abruptly in 1492, when all Jews of Spain and Portugal were suddenly and forcefully expelled or converted to Christianity.

Hundreds of years later, around 1950 to the turn of the 21st century, Jewish life experienced another Golden Age, this time in the United States and Israel. During the post-World War II-era, as many survivors, as well as Jews expelled from Arab countries, immigrated to the Israel and the United States, conditions in America improved dramatically for Jewish Americans. Antisemitism rapidly decreased, and the Jewish community became one of the most successful immigrant communities in the United States.

What does Israel have to do with the American Golden Age?

The establishment of the state of Israel in 1948—and Israel’s military victories over larger Arab forces in 1949, 1956, 1967, and 1973, fostered a surge of pride in Jewish Americans. From antiquity until the creation of the Jewish State, Jews were largely people of the book, merchants and scholars. The creation of Israel unified them into one strong peoplehood, with a homeland and with an army committed to defending the Jewish people worldwide. For the first time in centuries, Jews around the world were no longer victims but architects of their own secure haven that they could flee to in crisis.

From the establishment of the Jewish State until the beginning of this century, Zionism came to replace religious observance amongst secular American Jews as a core element of their own Jewish identities. That started changing around the year 2000, when the Palestinians launched a terror campaign against the Jews in Israel known as the Second Intifada. Support for the Jewish state began to wane at the fringes of the American Jewish community.

The “New Antisemitism,” also known as anti-Zionism or hatred of Israel as an acceptable stand-in for the classical hatred of Jews, initially gained currency in universities and in leftist intellectual circles. It has since metastasized to much of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Today, several U.S. congresswomen have claimed that Jewish Americans have dual national loyalties. These elected leaders call for boycott, divestment, and sanctions of Israel with a vehemence they reserve solely for the state of the Jews.

And as American Jews are severing their alliance with Israel, the second Jewish golden age is now coming to its end – and soon. Antisemitism is rising. American Jewish communities are divided, disengaged, and declining in membership. For the most part, this change has been driven not by a decline in material conditions, but rather a change in the way Americans Jews think about their Jewish identity and their relationships with the homeland of the Jewish people.

The New Antisemitism is becoming violent

The decline in the favorability of mainstream American views toward Israel has coincided with a rise in antisemitic violence, particularly in large metropolises, promoted by Islamo-Leftist groups. In New York City, more than half of hate crimes in 2019 targeted Jews. During the last major conflict between Israel and the Palestinians in May 2021, terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad launched more than 4,000 rockets and mortars at Israeli civilians. At the same time, we witnessed stunning and unprecedented scenes in New York, Los Angeles, and other American cities of Jews being assaulted by mobs of anti-Israel activists. This surge of anti-Jewish hate also included harassment, vandalism and online abuse.

With many Jews in America now fearing walking the streets in their kippot or wearing other items that identify them as Jewish or Zionist, or even speaking Hebrew in public, we are sliding in the direction of our European Jewish brethren—in fear and under siege, requiring more and more layers of security.

Meanwhile, many American Jews serve willingly as useful idiots for groups that despise us, divided our community, and weaken our resolve, under the pretext of legitimate  critique of the Israeli government policies.

The end of the story for American Jewry?

While we undoubtedly face grave challenges as American Jews, we must not give up. Until now, due to lack of information and fear of rejection and persecution, many American Jews have been complicit as anti-Zionism morphs into the new antisemitism. Now is the time to stand up, fight back with all our remaining might and hold antisemites accountable.

We must form alliances with groups that share the same Judeo-Christian values of freedom and democracy, inspire today’s Jewish youth to be proud of their people and the Jewish homeland, and bring Israel back to the center of our Jewish life in the diaspora.

We must embrace Zionism as an integral part of our Jewish identity. We must engage in renewed efforts to strengthen the homeland of the Jewish people, ask Israel to empower and defend Jewish communities worldwide, and take stock of the strength our community possesses.

We must collectively demand a rejection of all forms of antisemitism, including and especially anti-Zionism.

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Paid ‘Mark Kelly for Senate’ Staff Member Reveals Campaign Deception Strategy in Arizona

*CLICK HERE TO TWEET THE VIDEO*

Project Veritas Action released a new video today exposing a paid staff member of Senator Mark Kelly’s re-election campaign, Evynn Bronson.

Bronson is recorded telling an undercover PVA journalist how to win over votes for Kelly by deceiving Arizona voters on policy issues.

Here are some of the highlights from today’s video:

  • Evynn Bronson, Mark Kelly for Senate campaign, Mission for Arizona Field Organizer: “I would say [to pro-life voters that] Mark Kelly is pro-life, but also pro-keeping the government out of our healthcare. I don’t know, something stupid like that.”
  • Bronson: “I wouldn’t say [he is] pro-choice…even though he is.”
  • Bronson: “I’d go to something like, ‘You know, after his wife was in a shooting, he values life so much. It’s just a shame.’”
  • Bronson: “Absolutely he is not pro-life.”
  • Bronson: “He [Mark Kelly] has to play both sides. 40% of the people voting are undecided whether or not they’re going to vote Republican or Democrat.”
  • Bronson: “He [Mark Kelly] is not going to say anything outright about what he’s going to do unless it will garner support from independents and some of the moderate Republicans.”

You can watch the full video HERE.

Arizona voters will choose their next Senator in early November — in the contest between the incumbent Democrat candidate, Mark Kelly, and Republican candidate, Blake Masters.

Abortion has been a top issue in this race and in several other key races across the country.

At the time of this publication, Project Veritas Action has not heard back from the Kelly campaign on a request for comment.

Court Orders New York City To Reinstate Unvaccinated Employees, Give Backpay

The New York State Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that New York City cannot fire employees for not getting vaccinated against COVID-19, dealing a blow to Democratic Mayor Eric Adams’ pandemic policy.

The court ordered the city to reinstate all fired employees and grant them backpay, citing the fact that being vaccinated against COVID-19 does not stop an individual from catching or spreading the virus, and thus being vaccinated does not grant enough community-wide benefit to warrant a mandate. The health commissioner “acted beyond his authority” by issuing an indefinite vaccine mandate rather than a temporary one, according to the court.

Adams said earlier this year his administration would not bring back workers who had been fired due to being unvaccinated. Roughly 1,400 workers were ultimately let go, including a number of firefighters and police officers. Adams came under fire for not allowing an exception to the mandate for those workers after he granted one to celebrities who were competing in sports or putting on performances in the city.

“States of emergency are meant to be temporary,” the court said in its ruling. “The question presented is whether the health commissioner has the authority to enact a permanent condition of employment during a state of emergency.”

The court ultimately found that the commissioner did not have that right.

Many COVID-19 vaccine mandates were put in place based on the rationale that the vaccines could drastically reduce the chances of a person becoming infected or transmitting the virus if they were infected, so getting vaccinated was not only a benefit to the individual getting the shots, but everyone around them.

However, as more data emerged to indicate that the vaccines are only marginally effective at stopping spread, particularly against newer variants of the virus, that rationale became less convincing. The New York Supreme Court pointed this out in its decision, saying “being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19… the Petitioners should not have been terminated for choosing not to protect themselves.”

Analysis: 5.5 Million Illegal Aliens Have Crossed our Borders Since Biden Took Office—How is Secretary Mayorkas Still Employed?

Washington, D.C. — The Federation for American Immigration Reform issued the following statement, as well as a deeper dive into FY 2022 border numbers, based on data quietly released late Friday night by the Biden administration:

“In typical fashion, the Biden administration attempted to conceal the reality of a historic crisis they created by releasing final FY 2022 border numbers late on a Friday evening, hoping in vain that no one would notice on the eve of consequential midterm elections. After digging through them, we can see why,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

“Some 2.7 million migrants—those who illegally entered or were otherwise inadmissible at a port of entry—were encountered at our borders in FY 2022, bringing the total under President Biden to a whopping 5.5 million. One thing is clear: These record-breaking numbers are a direct consequence of open-borders policies implemented by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the person who appointed him, President Joe Biden,” charged Stein. “This deliberate sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws demands that the president remove Mayorkas from his position immediately. Otherwise, the impeachment of his disgraced cabinet member is sure to be one of the first orders of business in the next Congress.”

“Nothing will improve until there is a public servant leading the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) who believes in borders—and secure ones at that. We cannot even begin to reverse this disaster so long as our nation’s immigration policies are in the hands of someone who is bent on compounding it. No matter how late at night this administration releases data, the numbers still speak for themselves. President Biden needs to clean house at DHS, and, if he is not prepared to do it, Congress needs to clean it for him, beginning with the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas,” Stein concluded.

FAIR Border Snapshot for FY 2022

  • Some 2.7 million migrants—those who illegally entered or were otherwise inadmissible at a port of entry—were encountered at our borders in FY 2022.
    • 2.2 million of them were apprehended along the southwest border, setting a new record and eclipsing all four years of the Trump administration combined.
  • Since President Biden took office, around 5.5 million illegal aliens have crossed our borders—a crisis of epic proportions.
    • FAIR’s figure contains the 4.4 million nationwide total reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – which includes around 3.9 million at our southwest border – as well as approximately 1.1 million “gotaways” who have entered the country undetected per agency sources.
    • Based on publicly available CBP data, court filings, and “gotaways,” FAIR estimates that 2.4 million were either released by federal authorities or entered the country’s interior undetected.
  • Border Patrol agents encountered 98 known or suspected terrorists in FY 2022. In FY 2021, that number was 15. In FY 2020, it was three and in FY 2019, zero.
    • This number only includes known or suspected terrorists who were apprehended, not those embedded in the 1.1 million who evaded law enforcement while entering the country and eventually disappeared into American communities.
  • Migrant deaths at the southwest border totaled 856 in FY 2022—the deadliest year on record.
  • The amount of fentanyl seized in the last month of the fiscal year is equivalent of more than 414 million lethal doses—bringing the FY 2022 lethal dose total well into the billions.
    • More fentanyl has crossed the border in the last two months under President Biden than in all of FY 2019 under President Trump’s leadership.
