For The Confused Media: A Dummy’s Guide To Immigration And Refugee Problems

By Wallace Bruschweiler and William Palumbo –

With the Syrian (so-called) refugee crisis ubiquitous in the headlines, the media has found itself dealing with immigration issues on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, extreme confusion abounds.  The media’s total inability to draw basic distinctions regarding immigration to the United States, both legal and illegal is harming the public’s ability to digest this important topic.  Immigration terms are being thrown around print media, radio, and television that have no relation to the real facts or existing laws.

The following is the dummy’s guide to some of the most important distinctions regarding legal and illegal immigration to the United States.  It is sincerely hoped that this will help to end the erroneous reasons and multitude of excuses offered by the media on a daily, almost hourly, basis.

Legal Immigration

Visas

  • Visa Waiver Program: For travel and business purposes, this allows visitors to the United States from other specified countries to enter the country without obtaining a visa (based upon reciprocity). There were 38 Visa Waiver countries as of January 2009.  Applicants fill out an application via us.  (Note: Israel is not one of those 38 countries, yet Americans can enter Israel without obtaining a visa.)
  • Common Visas:
    • K1: For foreign fiancés of Americans. These visas are often abused by foreigners who seek citizenship, and will bribe “fiancés” whom they have no intention of marrying.
    • K-3: For foreign spouses of Americans.
    • H-1B: For skilled foreign workers. American employers must prove that the foreigner’s qualifications are not readily available domestically.
    • F and M: Academic/student visas. See below for common abuses of student visas.

Legal Immigrants

  • Green Cards: Holders of Green Cards must not be outside the United States for more than 5 months and 29 days per year. They must also have a legal record.  After five years, they are eligible to apply for citizenship.  At that time, they must also indicate all the countries they have visited in the previous five years.

Illegal Immigration

  • Border crossings: Today, the nation’s two borders (south and north) are equivalent to Swiss cheese. The Border Patrol has been handicapped by the Obama administration.  By definition, we know nothing (no names, no photos, no fingerprints) about illegal immigrants who cross our borders unannounced and unchallenged.  In the worst case scenario, an illegal immigrant who is caught inside the country will be ordered to leave within 15 days.  Against all logic, no check is applied to make sure that he does in fact leave!
    • If a person returns to the country illegally after being deported for previously entering illegally, by law that person has committed a felony and should be arrested, sentenced, and jailed.
  • Visa overstays: Other than border crossings, many foreigners are in the country illegally because they overstay their visas. For example, student visas are routinely abused in this manner.  Why?
    • After they are issued, there is no check to ensure that the student is enrolled at the college/university. They may never show up to begin with, or drop out after one, two, or three years.
    • After their study program is over, there is no check to ensure that they leave the country as expected.

Refugees

Refugees should not be considered a part of the immigration system, legal or illegal.  The Refugee Resettlement program is administered by the federal government (U.S. Department of State) and the United Nations.  In the U.S., the program is managed by politically-connected NGO’s (including many who are connected to the Catholic Church), and who receive money per refugee they process.

  • Security screenings: The White House claims that each refugee goes through multiple levels of security screenings, including the FBI, DHS, and State Department. However, FBI Director James Comey has warned that “certain gaps” remain in the screening process.

Sanctuary Cities

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, “Across the U.S., there are 340 cities, counties, and states that are considered “sanctuary cities”.  These jurisdiction[s] protect criminal aliens from deportation by refusing to comply with ICE detainers or otherwise impede open communication and information exchanges between their employees or officers and federal immigration agents.”

In other words, these are cities, counties, and states where existing federal law is intentionally ignored by local authorities.  For a map of these places, click here.

Conclusion

The entry checks for immigrants are sophisticated (ten-finger prints, pictures, and names).  But there are no checks whatsoeverregarding their exit.  Therefore, it is impossible to provide accurate figures on overstays, illegal entries, etc.

The American immigration system is abused through both legal and illegal channels.  Because of the complexity of the issue, the media regularly confuses and/or conflates the problems associated with the system.  Despite the challenges and complexities, the laws already exist to enforce immigration and ensure the integrity of the system, and in turn keep Americans safe.  Special time and effort should be dedicated to develop and implement accurate and feasible exit procedures.

Bring Americans ‘Victimized by Immigration’ Out of the Shadows

COLUMBIA, S.C. /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) launched TV ads across South Carolina today encouraging presidential hopefuls to focus more attention on helping struggling Americans and less on making it easier for illegal aliens to take jobs, commit crimes and get in-state college tuition. The ads will air in all major markets in South Carolina hundreds of times over the next two weeks.

“For years Americans have been told that we need to bring illegal aliens out of the shadows. Here’s a better idea. Bring Americans victimized by immigration out of the shadows,” commented Dan Stein, President of FAIR. “It’s pretty simple.  If you want to be President of the United States of America, you need to put American citizens first.”

America’s broken immigration system has a devastating effect on Americans across the country. Workers lose jobs and experience wage depression. The burden of unpaid healthcare bills for illegal aliens is being passed on to taxpayers. Thousands of Americans have been brutally murdered, raped and assaulted by illegal aliens. Many of those illegal aliens have been deported on multiple occasions but return to the country to live in “sanctuary cities.” In many states, illegal aliens are given in-state tuition even though American kids aren’t getting the same consideration. In the tech industry, Americans are made to train their foreign worker replacements before being given pink slips.

immigration coming out of the shadows americans harmed

While South Carolina’s economy has improved over the last couple years, there are still thousands unemployed or underemployed, especially in the African American community where employment rates continue to lag far behind the white population.

“With U.S. manufacturing contracting, now more than ever our leaders need to stand up for working people in South Carolina,” commented Dan Stein. “Our so-called economic recovery is leaving whole segments of American society behind, and voters across the country understand that our immigration policies are undermining their fundamental interests. Maybe our leaders will finally get it if South Carolina voters send them a message at the polls.”

The TV commercial also raises the issue of crimes committed by illegal aliens against American citizens and features Jamiel Shaw, a star high school football player brutally murdered in Los Angeles by an illegal alien. More recently, Kate Steinle was shot to death by an illegal alien while walking with her dad in San Francisco. And in South Carolina, Joyce Dargan, a mother of two, was killed by an illegal alien just outside her home.

“Immigration is a critical issue in the 2016 campaign for a reason: Voters do not feel that their interests are being served by our immigration policies, or that the political establishment even cares about their concerns. The issues raised in these ads can no longer be ignored,” Stein concluded.

ABOUT THE FEDERATION FOR AMERICAN IMMIGRATION REFORM (FAIR)

FAIR serves journalists and broadcasters with immigration-related, up-to-the minute information, background, research and perspective. We are the largest immigration reform group in the country and have 30 years experience serving the needs of print journalists, radio and television producers and hosts. FAIR spokespersons are interviewed regularly on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, in the New York Times, USA Today, hundreds of radio stations, and in hundreds of other newspapers, magazines and websites annually.

The Federation of American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is a national non-profit, public-interest, membership organization of concerned citizens who share a common belief that our nation’s immigration policies must be reformed to serve the national interest. FAIR seeks to improve border security, to stop illegal immigration, and to promote immigration levels consistent with more traditional rates of about 300,000 a year.

Trump First Candidate to Reply to the ‘Sessions Test’ on Immigration, Trade & Crime

jeff_sessions_cc_imgBreitbart News reports that Donald J. Trump is the first GOP candidate to reply to the ‘Sessions Test.’

On February 5th, Breitbart News exclusively reported that Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) issued a list of five questions that all candidates must answer if they wish to seek the Republican nomination. In recent years, Sessions has emerged as the intellectual thought leader of the nation-state conservative movement. Sessions has articulated how mass immigration combined with reckless trade deals is compressing wages and decimating America’s middle class.

Sessions’ questionnaire consisted of five straightforward questions addressing immigration, trade, and crime in the United States.

The first candidate to reply to Sessions’ questionnaire was GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump. In his response, Trump declares, “After my inauguration, for the first time in decades, Americans will wake up in a country where their immigration laws are enforced.”

Trump’s full, unedited answers to the Sessions’ test are below:

Question 1: How would you vote (or how did you vote) on fast-track, and would you support or oppose advancing a final trade agreement which enters the United States into a new international commission with binding authority on future United States trade policy?

ANSWER: I was steadfastly opposed to giving Obama his Fast-Track powers, and would have absolutely voted against it. This is one of the strongest distinctions between me and the other candidates in this race. The Congress, apparently under the magical spell of donors, gave massive new powers to a President who has repeatedly abused his authority. The other candidates in this race actually fought on Obama’s side to give him more power to abuse.

As for creating a new international commission with authority over United States trade policy I am, again, steadfastly opposed. No foreign power should be given any control over the United States. Yet the other candidates who supported Fast Track allowed President Obama to do just that. It’s not too late to save our sovereignty: when I win the nomination, I will put America back in charge.

trump book cripled americaQuestion 2: If the vote on the Trans-Pacific Partnership were held today, and you had a vote to cast in Congress, would you vote for it or against it?

ANSWER: I have strongly and consistently opposed the TPP. For decades, I have warned about how our terrible trade deals are killing the middle class. We are getting taken to the cleaners. My message on trade has been consistent from the beginning, and if politicians had listened to me years ago we would have saved millions of jobs, rebuilt our crumbling infrastructure, and saved trillions of dollars.

My candidacy is the only way to stop this terrible deal that will send our manufacturing – including our auto manufacturing – overseas.

TPP allows foreign countries to cheat by manipulating their currency, making it impossible for American companies to fairly compete. Yet other candidates in this race have voted in favor of the currency manipulation that is killing our middle class.

What our incompetent leaders don’t understand is that the United States holds all the cards. Other countries need access to our markets. Yet we refuse to use that leverage, and we negotiate one terrible job-killing deal after another. We buy from other countries, but they refuse to buy from us.

Under my Administration, we are bringing these jobs back to America. No more one-sided deals.

Stopping the TPP is a matter of economic security and national security. When I am the nominee, I will stop Obamatrade in its tracks and bring millions of new voters into our party – putting new states in play in the general election.

Question 3: Upon entering office, will you promptly and unconditionally terminate and rescind all of President Obama’s illegal executive amnesties – which provide work permits and entitlements to illegal aliens – including President Obama’s first executive amnesty in 2012, which remains in effect?

Is ‘Refugees Welcome’ to blame for an American nanny’s murder?

You’ve probably heard the news of her murder, but will the mainstream media mention her death was allegedly at the hands of an African asylum seeker?

A young Colorado woman working as a nanny in Austria was found murdered in her apartment last week and an African ‘asylum seeker’ has been arrested in the case. (This is a different case, although similar, to the American murdered in a similar fashion in Italy).

As European countries have opened their gates to ‘refugees’ from all over the world, it is no wonder that murderers, rapists and thieves have taken advantage of the sheer stupidity of European leaders especially those in Germany and Austria, not to mention the enormous naivete of young ‘humanitarians.’

Here is what Breitbart London said on Saturday.  The murdered young woman was protecting her killer from imminent deportation:

A 24-year-old Gambian ‘asylum seeker’ has been arrested for the murder of an American Au Pair in Austria.

American Lauren M. [her family has revealed her last name, here.—ed] had worked in Vienna, Austria for going on 3 years. The au pair job allowed her to pay for her studies and live in the city.

lauren-m-640x481

25-year-old Lauren Mann of Colorado was found dead in her Vienna apartment last week.

Her dead body was found in her one bedroom apartment in Vienna’s 4th district on the evening of Tuesday January 26 after she had not come in to work that day or contacted any of her friends. Police found her corpse face down in the bedroom of her home.

Krone says initial reports were unclear as to the cause of Lauren’s death but an autopsy later identified that she had been suffocated and so the case was determined to be a homicide.

The hunt for a suspect was helped drastically when police were able to find DNA at the scene which belonged to an asylum seeker already in their database. The 24-year-old Gambian Abdou I. was no stranger to police. In fact the asylum seeker had already been involved on the wrong side of the law and had been accused of sexual misconduct with minors back in 2014.

According to authorities, the Gambian was living at Caritas refugee centre in Erdberg [Caritas Austria, here—ed] and was scheduled to be deported back to his home country in Africa. There was already a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the murder and it is through that Lauren M. had hidden him in her small one bedroom home so that he could escape deportation.

Refugees Welcome!  Come live in our homes!

refugees-welcome

Members of Refugees Welcome!

Breitbart then tells us this:

Lauren M’s actions were possibly inspired by the Refugees Welcome founders Jonas Kakoschke and Mareike Geiling who set up their group as a sort of migrant “airbnb” for migrants to live in their homes and for other volunteers to do the same.

See also Pamela Geller, here, on the murder.  Moral of the story!  Do not take an asylum seeker into your home!

More on Austria:  Did you know that we take hundreds (thousands) of “refugees” from Austria?

Austria is a safe country and there is no reason we should be processing any refugees from there or from Malta either.  I don’t care what the excuse is!  Go here and see that 424 “refugees” came to America from Austria in the first 4 months of FY 2016.

Progress Will Hurt Blameless People by Aaron Ross Powell

There’s an unfortunate tendency among some free market advocates to blame the victim: If you can’t find work, it’s because you’re lazy or you somehow screwed up. Hard work’s all that’s necessary to succeed. But of course that’s not true. It’s quite easy to think of counterexamples. We know creative destruction is a necessary part of a well-functioning economy. Market churn means people lose their jobs through no fault of their own, and shifts in technology and consumer preferences mean that skills once lucrative can suddenly become relatively worthless. Markets are overwhelmingly good, yes, and are responsible for the astonishing amelioration of poverty we’ve seen since the Industrial Revolution, but they have their victims.

A changing global economy has meant a changing American economy and a changing American economy has meant that some people who did well in the old pattern are having a harder time in the new. This harder time is felt by, among others, a segment of America’s lower-middle class who used to be able to find decent-paying jobs that demanded physical labor and the kinds of skills you don’t learn in school.

That segment increasingly faces a fact about the modern economy: Unless you’re a knowledge worker, it’s become a whole lot harder to find a well-paying, stable, long-term job because the skills you bring to an employer aren’t as in demand as they used to be.

And that’s awful for the people going through it. We can say that free markets change over time and that those changes lead to more prosperity in the long term, and that’s true. But it doesn’t make life better for the machinist or construction worker without a college degree and without much retirement savings. Empathy seems an appropriate response by those of us not facing such hardship.

That even well-functioning markets hurt some people some of the time makes selling market solutions to policy problems often a difficult task. We know that the solution to unemployment or underemployment is more economic freedom. Get rid of the barriers to entry and the protectionist policies keeping afloat what would otherwise be failing firms. Enable private schools to create a robust and successful educational system so more people have the skills needed to succeed in a modern economy. Open trade with the rest of the world, so we can grow our economy, buy goods at lower prices, and sell into more markets.

But here’s the thing. Every one of those solutions ends up sounding, to the person economically hurting now, like saying, “Leave it alone and things will work themselves out. Don’t know quite how or when, but they will.”

Market solutions are emergent solutions, and emergence takes time and can’t be planned or predicted. In fact, it’s the attempt to plan and predict that leads so many non-market-based policies to fail. Economists understand this and so largely trust markets. But most Americans aren’t economists.

I think this explains, in part, the appeal of people like Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders. We see them as misdiagnosing the problems and offering counter-productive, and sometimes abhorrent, “solutions.” Immigrants are taking your jobs. (They aren’t.) So let’s fix it right now by closing the borders. Trade with China is making us poor. (It isn’t.) So let’s fix it now by establishing quotas and tariffs.

But to people hurting right now, people like Trump or Sanders offer something free markets can’t: certainty, even if illusory. These people right here are the cause of your problems. Punish or stop them and your problems will go away. America will go back to being great, with “great” meaning the way it was when low-information, low-skill Americans could spend their lives comfortably in the middle class. In other words, before America’s economy became modern.

We don’t want that, of course. The economic visions of Trump and Sanders aren’t just backwards, but are dangerously retrograde policies that will hurt everyone without doing much to improve the lives of those who support such policies.

Liberty struggles when confronted with this combination of widespread economic ignorance and the political incentive for politicians to pander and promise solutions that are anything but. And I don’t know how to solve that. Nor do I believe there’s an easy solution. The incentives in politics run against us, and so we somehow need to get better at articulating the story of markets, of the voluntary and the emergent, and do it in a way that’s as compelling and hopeful in its rhetoric as the false hopes sold by those pitching meretricious intervention.

Part of that means consciously avoiding a panglossian picture of markets, and recognizing that sometimes people get hurt by them, and that often that hurt is blameless.

Open Letter to Catholic Charities USA

Dear Catholic Charities,

Many thanks for all the good work you do helping fellow Americans.

Some questions.

Are you still taking tax payer money from the U.S. State Department via the former President Jimmy Carter, Senators Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy created Refugee Act of 1980 to help Syrian refugees get established in the United States?

Are you willing to give up land belonging to the Catholic Church on which these “Refugees” can build their mosques?

What is your opinion of the sexual assaults and robberies and physical assaults on German citizens who are coping with over 1.3 million Muslims invading their sovereign land, as assisted by George Soros and the German government?

Your brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church in Germany are reaching out to the German government and calling for a reduction in the influx of refugees arriving in Germany, saying the country cannot take in “all the world’s needy,”

Foto: Arne Dedert/dpa +++(c) dpa - Bildfunk+++

Cardinal Marx did recognize the growing problem for Germany and Europe in September 2015, but didn’t sound as worried as he sounds now.

“As a church we say that we need a reduction in the number of refugees,” Cardinal Reinhard Marx, chairman of the German Bishops’ Conference, told the Passauer Neue Presse daily. Germany cannot “take in all the world’s needy,” Cardinal Marx added.

The question of how to respond to the migrant crisis, he asserted, should not solely be a matter of “charity but also reason.”

So as you continue to take tax payer money from Secretary of State John Kerry who sits in his office on the 7th floor of the State Department to assist Muslims to enter this country will you be willing to ensure the following:

  • That they get employed at jobs that do not permit the transportation and or consumption of alcohol?
  • Will you ensure they get to pray 5 times a day during working hours?
  • Will you ensure all their food is prepared Halal and meets strict Islamic requirements?
  • Will you ensure these Muslims understand this nation operates under Constitutional Law not Sharia Law and explain to them we don’t behead, stone or cut off body parts in this nation to pay for crimes?
  • Will you pay for any damages monetary, emotional, physical and or structurally from these Muslim refugees if they inflict said abuse on this nation’s citizenry and infrastructure?
  • Will you cover the cost of re-educating these Muslims and explain to them they cannot shack up here and then fly back home to fight Jihad?
  • Will you explain to these folks they cannot date 6 year old and marry 9 year old children?

What say you ?

You want to help these people, this is great, but are you willing to help and pay for the damage they may inflict on America too?

VIDEO: Refugee Resettlement, Coming To A Town Near You!

If you want to know enough about Refugee Resettlement’s negative impact on your town in order to grab your legislators’ attention, watch this shocking and informative video!

Have some fun at USA Spending.gov: $296 million went to Lutherans since Obama took office!

The other day I suggested that each and every one of you can be an investigative reporter, see that post by clicking here.

So here we are, a winter weekend, can’t do much outdoors, and maybe you aren’t into the Super Bowl, so how about having fun searching for how much of your hard earned tax dollars are going to charities—especially to ‘religious’ charities pretending to be doing the Lord’s work while spending your money!

USA Spending graphicI haven’t written about USA Spending.gov for awhile, so last night when a reader asked about a local Catholic Charity, I tried that government website again.  It is much improved because it now contains the sub-grants in addition to the amounts that are direct grants.  I think there was a grace period for grantees to get their information on sub-grants to USA Spending.gov, but they are there now.  (Here is a bit of information about how grantees need to be ready to provide sub-grant information.)

So back to the USA Spending.gov website I looked up the specific Catholic Charities my reader was interested in and was blown away when I saw the millions of dollars just one little local Catholic Charities was getting.

I then decided to just pick one of the nine federal refugee resettlement contractors (which have in the vicinity of 350 sub-grantees or sub-contractors), to see what the biggies were getting.  Here (below) is Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service which resettles refugees in your towns and cities and also agitates for amnesty for illegal aliens.

LIRS is lobbying (with your money!) as we speak for 100,000 Syrians to be admitted to the U.S. before Obama leaves office.

Prepare to be shocked!  Since August 2008, this one ‘religious’ non-profit received $296 MILLION dollars from you in 143 transactions with federal agencies.(And, I will bet you LIRS is not the wealthiest!)

Click here and see for yourself!  (Sorry the screenshot isn’t very clear!)

Screenshot (22)

I urge you all to try the website.  Unfortunately for PRO-Open Borders Catholic agencies, there are too many of them and they aren’t all in one place. So try your local Catholic Diocese first.  Then think of all the other non-profits that have their hands in your wallet and see how much and from where their grants are flowing.

They will all say they help the poor with your money, but I repeat, they are also lobbying for more (poor) migrants to be admitted to the US!  Our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves to see the federal treasury used in this way.

Then you must get the information you learn out to others beyond your circle. Maybe take your facts and write a letter to the editor. Ask to write an Op-ed for your local paper. Go on talk radio. Write a blog!  Send what you learn to your elected officials and ask why on earth they are giving your money to Open Borders Leftwing organizations masquerading as religious charities.

Come to think of it, where is the ACLU on the separation of church and state?

And, while you are there, be sure to see yesterday’s post about Marco Rubio and his fan boy Grover Norquist (or is it the other way around?).

Tennessee: Refugee agency places Muslim migrants in jobs Americans would love to have!

And, adding insult to injury, the biggest chunk of their funding comes from you—the taxpayer!

Update!  National layoff numbers skyrocket! Breaking story.

This story from The Tennessean is meant to give the impression that this program of World Relief (National Association of Evangelicals) is doing wonderful humanitarian work by helping immigrants and refugees with advanced degrees find good paying jobs.

But, if you are like me, you reacted to this story by immediately asking these questions:

What about Americans who have advanced degrees and no work?  What about all of our children, recent college graduates (with big student loan debt), who can’t find jobs? Shouldn’t they come first?

Not according to World Relief’s REACH program or The Tennessean.

As is too often the case, one must read through refugee sob stories and eventually the reader learns that there are 10,000 immigrants in Tennessee who need high level jobs—-ahhhhhh!  10,000!  I wonder how many Americans with advanced degrees are competing with them for limited job opportunities?  Of course The Tennessean would never give us that number!

And, the American job seekers don’t have the services your tax dollars provide the immigrants through REACH. Here is what World Relief (a so-called Christian charity) does for the immigrants according to The Tennessean.

REACH, in Nashville, connects immigrants to mentors, who seek to introduce them to local individuals in their field, and coaches them through licensing processes. The organization also offers training on resumes and interviews. Between licenses and networking, it typically takes between nine and 12 months for an individual to move from a survival job to a professional one.

REACH, launched in 2011, has been able to help as many as 100 people a year. Among them are Coptic Christians fleeing Egypt, Kurds from Iraq and those coming from Congo after fleeing ethnic persecution in Rwanda.

Watch an unidentified REACH employee explain how they helped ‘Ahmed’ get a $93,000 a year job!

Here is what a reader said this morning about this story:

I have a very close friend, also an Ivy League masters graduate who is struggling to find a job in the Middle Tennessee job market. In fact, I have several friends, middle-age, well educated, intelligent, hard-working contributors to their communities who live in Middle Tennessee, and who are either unemployed or underemployed.

But the newspaper and the Chamber of Commerce isn’t taking up their cause.

Neil-MacDonald-3112161-220

Neil MacDonald of the Chamber of Commerce told The Tennessean: “If we want to continue to compete on an international basis, it’s essential we continue our growth in diversity.”

Nor do my friends have federal contractor agencies helping them find jobs.

And my friends aren’t wired-in either. They too are struggling.

At least the refugees and their federal contractors can blame the receiving community for not being more “welcoming” and ensuring that new arrivals get the jobs they thought would be waiting for them when they arrived.

According to this article, there are 10,000 refugees in Tennessee who can’t find the jobs they want. Predictably, federal refugee resettlement contractor World Relief and the refugees themselves blame the receiving community as “unwelcoming” because circumstances haven’t unfolded as they had planned.

But, this, of course, doesn’t stop World Relief from keeping their own cash flow going by bringing ever more refugees to the area.

And the Nashville Chamber of Commerce is telling us that businesses here value “diversity” over workers that are raised, educated and have roots in our Tennessee communities.

Speaking of World Relief’s financial position, World Relief Nashville directs people to its national headquarters where we can examine recent financial documents and their Form 990s.

Here we learn that in 2014, World Relief (National Association of Evangelicals) is a $61 million a year operation and that $41 million comes directly from U.S. taxpayers.

They could not supply all of these benefits to job-seeking immigrants if you (or the good-for-nothing Congress!) weren’t willing to pay for it.

Go here to see who else is funding World Relief’s REACH job hunting program.

More on MacDonald, here.

A List of Florida’s Republican ‘anti-American Worker’ Members of Congress

As you all know Florida has one of the highest illegal alien populations surpassed only by border states California and Texas costing us over $5,000,000,000.00 annually to educate, medicate and incarcerate them. Are you aware the State spends $1,600.00 more per illegal alien student annually to teach them to speak English? It is an unnecessary expense we suffer because of the lack of the Federal and state from enforcing the Rule of Law. It is a crime to enter the country, seek or accept employment if you are an illegal alien or over stay a visa.

In 2010 Rick Scott was elected with the promise he would make E-Verify mandatory so all Florida workers would be legal workers. He did install public E-Verify so supposedly all state agencies only deal with companies who use the voluntary system but he backed off forcing all employers to sign up. In 2012 he stated it was the Federal government’s responsibility and broke his promise to install mandatory E-Verify.

In 1986 Congress made three promises to President Reagan to get the only amnesty ever passed which turned out to be a promise broken several times. One of the promises was to make E-Verify mandatory for all businesses. The benefits of E-Verify would be to remove the job magnet for illegal aliens and visa over stayers, encourage illegal aliens and visa over stayers to self deport which in turn would lower various costs to residents.

Here it is thirty years later and Congress has still not passed E-Verify so only legal workers are employed. The illegal alien employed population is in the millions.

Last year Texas Representative Lamar Smith introduced the Legal Workforce Act H.R. 1147 which would require all companies to enroll in E-Verify so only legal workers are employed. He now has a total of 43 representatives, all republicans, co-sponsoring the legislation where it should have overwhelming support since it is designed to protect the representatives constituents who are employed.

Until very recently Florida did not have one co-sponsor of the bill. That is outrageous.

Representative Vern Buchanan of District 16 is the first representative from Florida to sign up. That leaves sixteen more Florida republican representatives, who should be vigorously supporting this legislation or be branded as “anti-American worker.” The list is below with their Washington numbers. Please take a minute, call and ask why the representative is not a co-sponsor of H.R. 1147?

Personally, I cannot think of a valid reason why they should not co-sponsor the legislation, can you?

If you wish to contact these Florida members of Congress here are the phone numbers:

  • District one is Jeff Miller 202-225-4136,

VIDEO: Debate Questions on Immigration That Don’t Get Asked

WASHINGTON, D.C. /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — As in previous presidential elections, several recent debates have featured questions posed by non-journalists via YouTube. They weren’t very good.

Debates in New Hampshire on February 4th (the Democrats) and Saturday, February 6th (the Republicans). To help journalists and ordinary voters try to extract the actual immigration views of the candidates, the Center for Immigration Studies has posted a series of video questions addressing critical aspects of the immigration issue that don’t receive the attention they warrant.

This first batch of questions ranges from a former Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation asking about the impact of mass legal immigration on American workers, to a retired Border Patrol agent asking about people fraudulently passing through legal entry points (as opposed to jumping the fence). Other questions for the candidates are posed by the mother of a man killed by an illegal alien, a former Foreign Service Officer, a law professor, and others.

Watch the video questions for the presidential candidates here:

As the presidential debates continue, both in the primaries and the general election, the page will be updated with more video questions from citizens. To have your own brief (30 seconds) video question for the candidates be considered for inclusion, send it to mrt@cis.org.

PODCAST: On the Muslim Migrant Crisis in Sweden and Across Europe

Kent Ekeroth, a Jewish Deputy of the Sweden Democrats in the national parliament, the Riksdag, was a guest on the Sunday, January 31, 2016,Lisa Benson Show. Benson, Richard Cutting, Advisory Board Member and this writer participated in the discussion with Ekeroth.  The topics discussed during the segment covered various aspects of the current migrant crisis in Sweden and Europe caused by the flood of one million asylees and migrants in 2015 who penetrated the broken Schengen borderless system. LISTEN to the podcast.

New Year’s Eve, the sexual assaults in Cologne, Germany by 1,000 North African and Arab looking migrants was evidence of threats to native European women and their communities. We posted on the graphic violence perpetrated daily in Germany and the rising call for the resignation of German Chancellor n Angela Merkel. Then there was the disturbing Europol report that 10,000 migrant children have gone missing, presumed to victims of sex trafficking and slavery.

In Sweden, 200 men went on a rampage attacking Moroccan migrants at the central Stockholm rail station provoked by the murder of a 23 year old woman at a reception center. The Swedish Interior Minister ordered  the expulsion of 80,000 migrants, virtually half of the 160,000 that poured into the country in 2015. The 23 year old woman victim was killed trying to stop an altercation involving a 15 year old Somali migrant.  One of the more than 35,000 unaccompanied minors who entered Sweden, four fifth of them young men.

Kent Ekeroth, Sweden Democrat Jewish deputy

Kent Ekeroth, Sweden Democrats, MP, the Riksdag.

A Politico Magazine article on “Europe’s Man Problem”, noted this about migrant demographics in Sweden:

According to Swedish government statistics, as of the end of November, 71 percent of all applicants for asylum to Sweden in 2015 were male. More than 21 percent of all migrants to Sweden were classified as unaccompanied minors, representing more than half of all minor migrants to the country. For accompanied minors, the sex ratio was about 1.16 boys for every one girl. But for unaccompanied minors, the ratio was 11.3 boys for every one girl. In other words, the Swedish case confirms IOM’s statistic that more than 90 percent of unaccompanied minors are male.

Sweden’s current ruling left Social Democrats and the center right Alliance Party condoned the opening of mass Muslim immigration over several decades. Muslims in Sweden account for 700,000 of the country’s 9.8 million population.  Jews, in contrast account for less than 20,000 of Sweden’s population. Ekeroth mother is Jewish who emigrated from Poland. Ekeroth had served as an intern at the Swedish Embassy in Tel Aviv in 2006. He visited Israel in 2014 as part of a delegation of foreign Jewish parliamentarians.

Ekeroth’s debates with Margot Wallstrom, Foreign Minister of the ruling Social Democrats occurred over her accusations that Israel should be investigated for alleged “extrajudicial killings”. He considers Swedish Foreign Minister Wallstrom both “gullible and antagonistic.”

On January 19, 2016, Itamar Marcus, executive director of Palestine Media Watch (PMW) followed up Ekeroth’s actions with a presentation to members of the Alliance and other parties in the Riksdag. At the conclusion of the presentation, Marcus proposed a resolution be introduced   by concerned MPs to end Swedish funding of Palestinian Authority education and media programs demonizing Jews and hatred of Israelis.

Watch this PMW video of the Swedish Parliamentarians presentation on Palestinian incitement of violence and anti-Semitic hatred:

In 2014, Ekeroth and the Sweden Democrats brought a bill before the Riksdag attempting to overturn the budget for the hundreds of millions of kroner in Palestinian Authority funding that was opposed by the remaining seven parties.  Center right Liberal or Alliance parties and the current left Social Democrats, Ekeroth said, funded hundreds of millions of kroner for the Palestinian Authority that had engaged in incitement to violence and demonization of Israeli Jews. The Sweden Democrats introduced the bill in 2014 during the budget debates to stop all PA funding.

When we asked him following the Lisa Benson Show, what his reaction was to the resolution proposed by PMW during the January 19, 2016 presentation, he replied:

I held the debate with [Foreign Minister] Wallstrom. Then other parties met with PMW from the Alliance-parties. What’s funny though is that when they were in government and had the power they did nothing to stop the funding the PA.

On the position of the Sweden Democrats in the Riksdag, Ekeroth said that the party platform includes reduction of personal and business taxes, preservation of the existing welfare system, but zero tolerance for mass Muslim immigration and asylum.  He considers as legitimate refugees, not unlike his immigrant mother, those fleeing a conflict or persecution. Migrants, however, are those traveling to take advantage of benefits “provided by a naïve system” like that in Sweden and many EU countries. Once admitted, he said, the asylees can bring in others through family reunification or workforce immigration. During the period 2015 to early 2016, more than 200,000 so-called asylees and migrants entered Sweden. Regarding the smorgasbord of benefits available to migrants, Ekeroth noted that in 2005, the seven other parties in the Riksdag endorsed expansion of benefits to include free health, free schools and even assistance in starting a business.

When asked about the recent Interior Minister’s expulsion order, he doubts that the police can round up more than 4,000 a year. The rest may leave for other EU countries or go into hiding.

Regarding the attack by 200 Swedes against Moroccans at the Stockholm central railway station, he doesn’t condone violence. However, he said it was a reflection the police and state haven’t protected Swedish citizens from violence and petty crime. On the question of sexual assaults by migrants, he indicated they have been grossly over represented since 1975. He pointed towards Swedish crime statistics for 2015 that indicated over 41% of those convicted were non-citizens. Further, he said if you included the sizable Swedish Muslim population the proportion would be well over 50%.

When asked about how Swedish youth reacted to these developments, he suggested that while the Sweden Democrats are the second largest party in the Riksdag, they tend to be less politically involved. Sweden men are more sympathetic to the programs of the Swedish Democrats; while female voters aged 18 to 24 in surveys are not as inclined as they are more prone to social pressures. He credits that to the treatment of the Sweden Democrats by the media that by turns calls the party “far right wing,”  “racist,” “anti-Immigrant,” and dismisses the party as “stupid peasants”.  Ekeroth said the state TV and media are overwhelmingly pro-immigrants. Surveys in Sweden he cited showed that 75% of working journalists are left wingers.  He said that some alternate media has been created, including one developed by the Sweden Democrats. But overall the media situation is biased.

When the matter of Sweden’s small Jewish community arose, Ekeroth has tried to convince them that mass immigration was problematic.  He said their opinion reflected their support for Muslim mass immigration. In effect, he said, the Jewish community told him that “they don’t want to awaken the bear that sleeps.”

In light of the current migrant crisis, he said who would have thought 20 years ago that today the Eastern European countries of Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia would be the saviors of Europe. The dialogue continues with Kent Ekeroth. He returns to The Lisa Benson Show for a reprise on Sunday, February 7, 2016.

Marshalltown, Iowa: The Town a Foreign-owned Company Changed Forever

This is one more in a long sad line of American towns and cities changed forever due to the needs of greedy global corporations (not just meatpackers!) and their appetite for cheap immigrant labor.  They get the cheap labor, we get the poverty and extra welfare expenses, not to mention the cultural upheaval!

Trump and Arpaio 2

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio endorsed Trump in Marshalltown.

Be sure to see an earlier post on how JBS Swift (a Brazilian owned company) is destroying the American middle class in Marshalltown.

And, don’t miss my post of only a couple of weeks ago about foreign-owned companies like JBS Swift changing America by changing the people.

“Taking food out of our [American] mouths!”

From Philly.com thanks to a reader:

The blue-collar city, which has shed manufacturing jobs, epitomizes the economic squeeze of the American middle class. And Marshalltown has grappled for years with immigration, the issue that fires up conservative GOP base voters almost as much as terrorism.

Today, about a quarter of Marshalltown’s population of 28,000 is Latino. By contrast, Hispanics make up about 6 percent of Iowa’s population. A number of Burmese and Sudanese immigrants also have settled here.

Job cuts

In the 1980s the meatpacking industry mechanized production, boosting output and slashing wages. Meat processors already faced a labor shortage as the U.S. rural population shrank and fewer Americans wanted the repetitive, dangerous jobs, the industry says. Packers turned to Mexico and the rest of Latin America for workers.  [B.S. they could have paid a decent salary and kept American workers!—ed]

“It’s like they’ve got a sign on the border, ‘Come to Marshalltown,’ ” said Mike Foreman, 66, who worked at the meatpacking plant until 2000, when a back injury forced him to retire.

“The company paid them less than they paid us,” he said last week at the city’s senior citizens center. “The way I look at it, they’re taking food out of our mouths.”

VIDEO: Evidence of Muslim Migrant Violence in Germany, Calls for Merkel’s Resignation

We interviewed Kent Ekeroth, Sweden Democrat party deputy in the Riksdag, the country’s national Parliament, on the Lisa Benson Show, Jan. 31, 2016. Listen to the podcast. Ekeroth. explained how the arrival of Muslim male migrants has led to sexual assaults of Swedish women for well over two decades even before the great wave of Muslim migration in 2015 -2016. Data from Swedish Statistics and IOM indicate that more than 65,000 unaccompanied minors were in the throng of 160,000 Asylees admitted in 2015. Four fifths of them are male. One 15 year old Somali perpetrated the killing of a 23 year Swedish woman aide in a reception center who was trying to break up of a struggle between two youths. Today came graphic evidence of Ekeroth cited.  Ekeroth believes this uncontrollable young Muslim male asylees population in Sweden will likely lead to chaos in the spring and summer when Swedes emerge to gather at the country’s beaches.

Proclamations by the Sweden’s Interior Minister about expelling 80,000 asylees may not be realized given the ability of these migrants to go elsewhere in the EU, only to return again. Ekeroth’s concerns about uncontrolled violence in Sweden from rampaging young Muslim men and youths were graphically portrayed in a incident that occurred in a Munich subway. This Daily Mail UK article has video taken by a bystander on his cell phone during an attempted sexual assault in a Munich subway by young Male Migrants and beatings of those attempted to defend the young woman.

Watch the video of this Muslim Migrant rampage on a Munich subway:

Soren Kern in a Gatestone Institute article, called the expulsion order for asylees in Germany by the Merkel government a veritable charade. The warm welcome proclaimed by Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel in the hopes of building up the country’s labor force may simply have let the barbarians in creating lawlessness and as a resentment by Germans possibly upending her political career. Note these points from theGatestone article, “Germany’s Migrant Deportation Plan “a charade:”

N24 television has reported that up to 50% of “asylum seekers” have gone into hiding and their whereabouts are unknown. They presumably include economic migrants and others who are trying to avoid deportation if or when their asylum applications are rejected.

Tens of thousands of migrants destroyed their passports and other identity documents before arriving in Germany. It may take years for German authorities to determine the true identities of these people and their countries of origin.

Even if Germany sends these individuals back to the countries where they first entered the EU (usually Greece, Hungary or Italy), with a borderless Europe, migrants can easily make their way back to Germany.

German authorities are downplaying migrant lawlessness, apparently to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiment.

Migrants are still coming to Germany at the rate of about 2,000 per day.

“Eight to ten million migrants are still on the way.” – Development Minister Gerd Müller.

Note what this Poltico Magazine  research article, “Europe’s Man Problem” reported  on the sex ratio imbalance in countries like Germany and Sweden caused by the flood of Migrant young males, asylees under national and UN rules, who flooded Europe during 2015 and 2016:

66.26 percent of adult migrants registered through Italy and Greece over the past year were male, according to the International Organization of Migration.

That imbalance might not sound radical, but it is, especially when you look more closely at who those males are. It’s true that many male migrants hope that, if granted asylum, they will be joined in Europe by their wives and children, who would help balance out national sex ratios. But importantly, more than 20 percent of migrants are minors below the age of 18, and the IOM estimates that more than half of those minors traveling to Europe are traveling as unaccompanied minors—90 percent of whom are males. This heavily male subset is all but guaranteed asylum because of their status as unaccompanied minors

[…]

According to Swedish government statistics, as of the end of November, 71 percent of all applicants for asylum to Sweden in 2015 were male. More than 21 percent of all migrants to Sweden were classified as unaccompanied minors, representing more than half of all minor migrants to the country. For accompanied minors, the sex ratio was about 1.16 boys for every one girl. But for unaccompanied minors, the ratio was 11.3 boys for every one girl. In other words, the Swedish case confirms IOM’s statistic that more than 90 percent of unaccompanied minors are male.

[…}

Fear of terrorism might not be the only reason to be leery of highly abnormal sex ratios among the young adult population. As my co-author Andrea Den Boer and I argued in our book, societies with extremely skewed sex ratios are more unstable even without jihadi ideologues in their midst. Numerous empirical studies have shown that sex ratios correlate significantly with violence and property crime—the higher the sex ratio, the worse the crime rate. Our research also found a link between sex ratios and the emergence of both violent criminal gangs and anti-government movements.

As Ekeroth said prior to the January 31, 2016,  Lisa Benson Radio Show, “ Lot of things going the way we foresaw and warned about.”

Refuge Resettlement Watch: Monthly Roundup — January 2016

Longtime readers know that previously we provided a weekly roundup of top stories and top countries (from which visitors arrived at RRW) so that you would know what other followers were most interested in, and where they came from, but I’m thinking once a month is enough.

This roundup also gives me an opportunity to bring new readers up-to-speed on what we have published here over the years and how to find useful information.

Top Three Posts:

Here then are the Top Three posts for the month of January 2016 (top daily posts are in the right hand side bar):

  1. Amarillo, Texas being destroyed by refugee overload
  2. Merkel on Cologne sex assaults: don’t blame refugees
  3. More evidence that big business is a driver of refugee resettlement in America

The Top Ten Countries from which visitors arrived at RRW in January (excluding the U.S.) are in descending order:

  1. United Kingdom
  2. Canada
  3. Australia
  4. Germany
  5. South Africa
  6. Sweden
  7. Netherlands
  8. Norway
  9. France
  10. New Zealand

For new readers!  Here are some things you need to know:

I’ve started a new blog so that I can write about Election 2016 and immigration (the only issue that matters!).  See it here: American Resistance 2016!

We have over 7,300 posts archived at RRW extending back to the summer of 2007.  Use the search window with a few key words to look for information (LOL! before you send an e-mail asking me to find things for you!).  Also, see our Frequently Asked Questions and our fact sheet (out of date but still useful) in the header.

I’ve been tweeting a lot and sometimes if I can’t write about a story you send, I tweet it.  See our twitter feed in the right-hand side bar. Even if you aren’t on twitter, you should be able to open the links to the news embedded in the tweet.  I am @RefugeeWatcher.

Likewise you might want to ‘like’ and follow RRW’s facebook page, here.  See it also in the left-hand side bar.

All previous round-ups and this one are archived in a category simply called ‘blogging.’

My video about how the refugee program works is here (over 2.3 million views as of this writing).

All comments you submit are screened and we don’t post threats of violence, most foul language, or ad hominem attacks on other commenters.  Sometimes I am away from the computer for many hours, so you may not see your comment posted quickly.  And, lately I’ve noticed a delay by wordpress in sending me your comments.

As much as I would love to see you all in your hometowns, I simply don’t have the time to travel.  Right now I have a few engagements I committed to sometime ago, but am not taking any more right now.  I think I am more useful right here researching and writing.  I am thinking of a project for this summer that might take me to other states, but that is still in the ‘dreaming’ stage.

Refugee Resettlement Watch is an entirely volunteer project by me—we don’t raise funds or advertise.  Therefore, I have no staff, no help, and so if I don’t answer the hundreds of e-mails I get every day, you know why!  And, I do apologize!

P.S.  There is so much happening on this subject that I would welcome (I encourage!) others to start blogs on the topic, either to cover your local and state issues or even to pick up more of the load nationally!  It does your community no good if you research, find important information (perhaps damning information) and then don’t share it widely!
