Donald Trump Is The Babylon Bee’s Christian Of The Year 2019

For the second year in a row, The Babylon Bee is proud to present our coveted Christian of the Year award to Donald J. Trump.

Each year since this award was conceived, which was last year, we recognize one Christian who stood head and shoulders above the rest, fighting for the gospel and defending the church of Jesus Christ.

We considered awarding it to local pastors who fight for their congregations through thick and thin. We thought of the missionaries spreading the gospel abroad, no matter the personal cost. We even thought of the people who subscribe to The Babylon Bee and allow holy satire to go forth from our golden lighthouse of truth.

But in the end — let’s be honest — there was really ever only one person we could give this award to: the man who saved Christmas. The man who ensured God’s will could continue to be done by packing the courts with Republicans. The man who stood bravely as a tide of liberalism threatened to wash our country down the drain and stemmed the tide with his bare hands of persimmon hue.

That man is President Donald Trump.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Trump, and congratulations on the award!

Connecticut: Man converts to Islam, tries to join the Islamic State to “fight for Allah”

“About a week later, another individual ‘who attends an Islamic Center in another state’ told authorities McCormick ‘expressed a desire to travel to Syria to “fight for Allah,”‘ the affidavit states. The 26-year-old attempted to justify his extremist ideologies, the individual told authorities, by quoting and citing various religious doctrines, although ‘he did so incorrectly.’”

It’s good that people from the Islamic Center turned in Kevin McCormick, but how did he cite Islamic doctrines “incorrectly”? We are constantly told that jihadis have an incorrect understanding of Islam, but explanations of how it is incorrect are rare and vague. This also leads to other questions that never get answered: if Kevin McCormick’s understanding of Islam, as well as that of other jihadis, was incorrect, where did he get it? Why was the Islamic Center not able to disabuse him of his misunderstanding of Islam? And why do all jihadis misunderstand Islamic doctrine in exactly the same way?

“‘Jihad Is the Way to Go’: Connecticut Man Charged With Trying to Fight for ISIS,” by Seamus Hughes and Pilar Melendez, Daily Beast, December 19, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

After tips from Islamic Centers in two different states, authorities arrested a Connecticut man they allege attempted to travel overseas to join the Islamic State.

Kevin Imam McCormick, 26, was charged on Oct. 21 with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization after a months-long FBI investigation and allegedly pledging his allegiance to ISIS and its leader in a video.

“I do like, I do like ISIS because Abu Musa was like my hero, I cry when I watch that video,” he said during one conversation with an FBI informant, according to court documents unsealed Thursday….

According to the federal affidavit, the FBI was first alerted to McCormick, a former truck driver, on Aug. 24, when members from another state reported that McCormick had stated “we should support ISIS” and “Jihad is the way to go.” The community members also told authorities McCormick had asked about “circumcision and wanted a doctor that could help him with the procedure.”

About a week later, another individual “who attends an Islamic Center in another state” told authorities McCormick “expressed a desire to travel to Syria to ‘fight for Allah,’” the affidavit states. The 26-year-old attempted to justify his extremist ideologies, the individual told authorities, by quoting and citing various religious doctrines, although “he did so incorrectly.”…

Authorities also state that after McCormick was fired as a truck driver in September, he attempted to purchase a firearm and a knife—but was declined after he admitted to a sales clerk the weapons were “not for an animal.”…

On Oct. 12, the former truck driver allegedly attempted to fly to Jamaica, but was denied boarding by the Department of Homeland Security. Shortly after that encounter, he met with an FBI informant and expressed his desire to travel to Syria “in order to join ISIS,” according to the court documents….

“I’ve been ready for quite a long time now. I just need help to get out of here. I just, if I could get to the Muslim country,” McCormick allegedly told the second FBI informant through a secure encrypted app, before stating, “We’re living in this horrible place, like I can’t do it. I have to go fight…I can like feel it in my arm, my heart, like because I know how well I can fight..Because I got brothers dying..I know that they need my help bro.”…

In the presence of an FBI informant, McCormick recorded two videos on Oct. 19 pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Islamic State leader, one in English and the other in his native language of Jamaican Patois, authorities said. Al-Baghdadi was killed in a U.S. military operation one week later….

McCormick’s Facebook profile, which is still active, has signs of his support of jihadist ideology. A week before his arrest, he posted a video of an alleged Islamic State prison break in Syria with the comment, “ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!”

He posted a picture of U.S soldiers three days prior, calling them “kuffars,” or nonbelievers. McCormick used the same description to comment on a news story about the Taliban and U.S. peace talk negotiations.

Last summer, he complained about American Muslims, posting on Facebook: “The Muslims in this country are Americanized not real Muslims.”

McCormick also posted anti-Semitic conspiracy memes about the Rothchilds controlling all the world’s banks and a news story about an Israeli strike against Syria with the comment, “damn jews.”…

On How Evangelicals Can Support Trump, Both Libs AND Conservatives Get it Wrong

With both the Russia and Ukraine hoaxes having fizzled and the “legal” means for President Trump’s removal perhaps exhausted, at least for now, the Left appears to have moved on to a “moral” argument designed to influence the 2020 election. Initiated by Christianity Today and advanced by figures such as CNN’s Chris Cuomo, the idea is that Evangelicals — and by implication all Christians — should be ashamed to support Trump because he makes a “mockery” of their faith.

It’s an interesting argument not because it’s anything but a demagogic one, but because it relates to interesting issues completely eluding the very uninteresting people making the argument. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to hear them treated adequately.

Were I to apply my own purity test, I couldn’t vote for anyone, including myself. Characterizing myself, I shy away from ideological or party labels and rather say I’m sort of like Mayberry meets the Middle Ages. In fact, there’s a certain (half?) joke I sometimes make with those around me, who are very few in number, after returning from situations in which I encounter large groups of people. “I had to interact with the humans today,” I’ll say. Yet I can still vote for the humans — including the very human Donald Trump.

The reason why has nothing to do with how, as many conservatives say, “I’m voting for president, not pastor.” While rhetorically effective and having beautiful alliteration (which I can truly appreciate), this smacks too much of the Left’s ‘90s defense of Bill Clinton, “Character doesn’t matter.”

Conservatives roundly dismissed this argument, and rightly so. Would you want to be pulled over by a police officer or hire a baby sitter, auto mechanic, financial manager or employee with bad character? Character is central to anything we may do and is why the Deep State is, well, the Deep State (see Brennan, Clapper, Comey et al.).

The actual reason why I can, without reservation, vote for a very human human was expressed well by legendary German leader Otto Von Bismarck. “Politics is the art of the possible,” he said.

It’s not the art of you get whatever you want right now, 100 percent, no questions asked. My ideal candidate for president would be Selwyn Duke (no, it’s not narcissism, just love of aliens). But that’s a non-starter. Next on my list would be Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes, both great men with whom I’ve corresponded. That’s not happening, either. So what am I left with?

The possible.

In every general election there are usually just two viable alternatives, which brings to mind William F. Buckley’s advice about voting for the most conservative candidate who can win. Moreover, my faith not only provides an accurate yardstick for measuring candidates’ personal and policy-wise moral status but informs about something else: Everyone is a sinner.

This means every candidate is a sinner, which means voting amounts to supporting a sinner — that is, until seraphim, or at least cherubim, take corporeal form and enter the political fray. So, in a way, voting is always choosing the “lesser of two evils.”

Then again, we could always just exit politics. Convincing some people of faith to thus retreat and refuse to vote, with Trump-shaming, is no doubt a Machiavellian goal of the Chris Cuomo types, too. That way the field can be left to them — so they can elect someone with really bad character.

And that’s the point. As usual, leftists are engaging in pure projection. Cuomo the Lesser supports Cuomo the Greater (NY’s governor), a man who signed a bill allowing prenatal infanticide up to birth (“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” Jeremiah 1:5, anyone?). In fact, along with other purported leftist “Christians,” the Lesser makes a mockery of his own faith.

It requires a striking lack of self-awareness, or a sociopathic lack of compunction, for the glass-house Left to hurl its White House stones. Who, Mr. Cuomo, is this saintly viable alternative who must exist if you imply that Christians should abandon Trump?

Whomever you suggest, it won’t just be someone supporting prenatal infanticide, putting boys in girls’ bathrooms (“[M]ale and female he made them,” Genesis 5:2) and indoctrinating schoolchildren with sexual devolutionary propaganda (“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea,” Matthew 18:6).

As the Left has already demonstrated, it will also be someone willing to coerce Christians into violating their faith; examples are forcing them to fund prenatal infanticide and contraception and to service same-sex “weddings.” Why, the Left’s overt Christian persecution makes mere mockery of the faith seem attractive.

In fact, while space constraints preclude a comprehensive theological and moral examination of left-wing failings (only so many bits and bytes in the world, you know), it’s hard to think of a Commandment today’s leftists don’t violate.

But a dishonorable mention, aside from the continual bearing of false witness, is adding a one-night stand with God to leftists’ one-night stand with the Founding Fathers. That is, “I pray for the president all the time,” said Nancy Pelosi in a pretentious show of something far less than even Pharisaic religiosity. (In fairness, she didn’t specify what she prays for or whom she prays to.)

But the Pelosi pretense is a common leftist one. As to this, I seem to remember someone (perhaps the theologian Democrats can jog my memory) saying that when praying, do “not be like the hypocrites” who make a show of it so “they may be seen by men.”

Meanwhile, the pious poltroons of progressivism got perturbed recently because Justice Neil Gorsuch wished people Merry Christmas!

So I can support Trump unabashedly and maintain my faith absolutely. Sure, along with the president’s many accomplishments, he also just signed a horrid $1.4 trillion spending bill, and he’s weak on opposing our Great Sexual Devolution. But I also know that the battle for civilization is fought on both the political and cultural (and, ultimately, spiritual) level, and what we want possible politically must first be palatable culturally.

So, to improve civilization, the culture more than the commander in chief must be changed. This would also help remedy the problem of Christian magazines that make a mockery of Christianity and journalists who make a mockery of journalism.

Muslim public school student takes off hijab, teacher says she will notify her parents “because it’s your culture”

This girl could have been beaten or killed for taking off her hijab, but of course this public school teacher doesn’t know that, as she has been fed a steady diet of fiction and fantasy about Islam being a religion of peace and the hijab being a choice, and she knows that only racist, bigoted “Islamophobes” think otherwise. Women’s rights for Muslim girls and women? Why, what’s the need for that? They don’t suffer any discrimination or harassment!

“My teacher almost outed me for taking off the hijab (Update),” Reddit, December 19, 2019:

So today I was happy. I had completely stopped covering my hair and was talking confidently with other people, I was just so joyful I wanted to go home and dream about it at night.

Then in math class, when the bell rang to switch, a teacher asked me about my hijab. I told her that I just took it off and it was no big deal. She then told me that it was important to uphold culture and asked if my parents knew what I was doing. Being the idiot I am, I said no and asked if she would tell. To my absolute horror, she said yes.

My whole world stopped. I asked her why she would do that and she just said “because it’s your culture! And you were given an advantage to be able to wear the hijab as a uniform, so don’t just take advantage.” I put my head down for a while, holding back tears. Before I knew it, it was time for the last class. In the hallway I just walked mindlessly to my next class. Then the same teacher who wanted to out me had apparently told the science teacher about what I had done. Both of them told me to come over and the science teacher asked what’s wrong. I didn’t say anything, and at that moment she just hugged me and I started sobbing.

She led me to the empty classroom and sat me down along with the other teacher. They gave me a whole lecture about why I shouldn’t have taken it off and my parents are just protecting me, I shouldn’t try to get a boyfriend even though I said I didn’t want one. After the talk I just put my hijab back on and left, it was time to go home now.

At the beginning of the day I was full of hope, and at the end I just felt crushed. I was lucky that they didn’t tell my mom, but they’re watching me from now on so I just can’t do what I have been doing anymore. I don’t know what to do anymore, my double life has ended before I knew it, and I lost a good chunk of the confidence I had earlier.

Edit: this happened in a regular public school in the U.S. on December 18, 2019….

Update #2: I spoke with the principal. He said that it’s my choice how I dress as long as it abides by the dress code. He said if those teachers want to talk to my mother, they can talk to him about it, so I’m free to take off my hijab. I’m going to try to take it off again, I’ll update again if she tries anything.

Ilhan Omar: Her Washington Week In Review by Hugh Fitzgerald

Ilhan Omar has been much in evidence this past week — Dec. 14 to 20 — in Washington. During the impeachment hearings, when Congressman Kevin McCarthy, at the podium on December 18, quoted, as an example of the level of discourse to which some of his opponents had sunk, Rashida Tlaib’s call to “impeach the motherf—–,” Omar immediately began, and continued repeatedly, to scream out from the back of the chamber, “Stop it! Stop it!,” even though McCarthy had not repeated the phrase, but gone on to other matters. Apparently Ilhan Omar didn’t think that Congressman McCarthy had a right to remind the American people of the crudity to which Rashida Tlaib routinely sinks, and to protect her BFF, tried to shout down, in the House of Representatives itself, the freedom of speech of a fellow Congressman. McCarthy, of course, was not maligning Tlaib, only quoting her verbatim – but that was enough to spur Ilhan Omar into hysterical action.

In another example of Omar’s making her indelible mark in Washington, she joined 16 other Congressmen in a letter deploring the Trump Administration’s sanctions on Iran as “economic warfare.” But why is that wrong? That’s exactly what those sanctions are meant to be – “economic warfare” – in order to persuade the Iranians to modify their aggressive behavior, across the Middle East (in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon), and to slow down their pursuit of nuclear weapons. Why should the Trump Administration not be heartened by the effectiveness of those sanctions rather than, as Ilhan Omar and her 16 colleagues seem to think, be apologetic for their effect? The Administration’s reimposition of sanctions have reduced Iranian oil sales by 90%, from 2.46 mbd to .26 mbd. This has made it harder for the mullahcracy to continue to support the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon; Hezbollah has had to greatly reduce salaries for its members as a result of Iran’s cutting of aid. Nor can Iran offer its previous level of financial support to the Shi’a militias in Iraq. The Iranian rial has sunk in value; Iran’s GDP has actually decreased, the price of gas has had to be increased to raise government revenues; Iran’s people have suffered – that’s exactly what economic sanctions are intended to do.The letter Ilhan signed claims that the sanctions have increased anti-American feeling in Iran. There is no evidence for this; the popular protests in Iran have been directed solely at the Iranian government itself, for its mismanagement, choice of spending priorities, and corruption. Ilhan Omar and her colleagues apparently want those sanctions, that are working so well, to be dramatically reduced, but they offer nothing to take their place. What alternative way to modify the Islamic Republic’s behavior would Ilhan Omar suggest? How would she prevent Iran from producing nuclear weapons? Or keep Iran from its foreign aggression?

The report on the letter Ilhan Omar signed is here:

In a letter issued on Tuesday to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the lawmakers wrote that the hefty sanctions the US has imposed on the country was tantamount to “economic warfare.”

The sanctions put in place by this Administration against Iran are nothing less than economic warfare. After years of improving relations between the United States and Iran, the sanctions have devastated that country’s middle class, increased hostility toward the United States, and led to a humanitarian catastrophe. One dire effect has been an entirely preventable shortage of lifesaving medicine.

“This Administration must answer for their attacks on Iranians’ basic human right to affordable medicine,” Rep. Omar said in a statement.

The letter explains that while Iran manufactures 97% of its medicine domestically, the country relies on obtaining the rest through foreign imports.

First, Iran itself makes 97% of all the medicine it needs. That hardly suggests that there is a “humanitarian catastrophe” because of a lack of medicine, unless the remaining 3%, that must be imported, includes medicines that are absolutely critical to the survival of patients, and can be obtained nowhere else. We are not told what those medicines are that need to be imported. Nor is there evidence presented that those imports cannot be obtained from countries other than the U.S., including the U.K., France, Germany, Russia, and China. Ilhan Omar’s letter does not address these other potential sources for these imports. But finally, the main point of the letter – that there is a supposed “humanitarian catastrophe” because of that 3% of Iran’s medicines that the U.S. withholds – is fatally vitiated by the fact that the Department of the Treasury on October 25, 2019 announced a new “humanitarian mechanism” to allow medicine imports into Iran. That didn’t stop Ilhan Omar and her colleagues, nearly two months later, to send their letter to Secretary Mnuchin, ignoring the Treasury’s October 25 announcement. The signatories  didn’t want anyone to be confused with facts. Their minds were made up, that “economic warfare” against Iran is a Bad Thing, and they were willing to continue to complain about the withholding of medicine that, if it had ever occurred, now occurred no longer.

The third event of Ilhan Omar’s Washington week in review didn’t require her presence, but she was indispensable to the story. I am thinking of the proceedings in the divorce court, where Dr. Beth Jordan, the wife of her political consultant and lover Tim Mynett, obtained her final decree. The story is here:

It took all of fifteen minutes, but Rep. Ilhan Omar was slammed as an adulteress in a Washington, DC, divorce court on Dec. 19 as her political consultant/alleged lover formally split from his wife, a report said.

Dr. Beth Jordan accused the Minnesota Democrat of having an affair with her now-ex-husband, political consultant Tim Mynett, during a 16-minute hearing before a judge cut her off, the Daily Mail reported.

“I have a statement to make,” Jordan, 55, said, adding that Mynett “had an affair with Ilhan Omar.”

The allegation was first reported by The Post in August, when Jordan claimed in a divorce filing that Mynett confessed to the affair in a “shocking declaration of love” for Omar in April before ditching his wife.

Mynett, 38, a DC-based political consultant who has worked for Omar’s campaign, laughed and clapped his hands with glee as his left the court on Thursday but was tight-lipped when confronted by media.

So her lover “laughed and clapped his hands with glee.” He left his wife and his child for Ilhan Omar, the outspokenly anti-Israel antisemitic Congresswoman, who famously described 9/11 as a place where “some people did something,” who is in all kinds of trouble with the law for failing to correctly report her campaign contributions, and may or may not have married her brother in order to ensure that he could enter the U.S. and receive student loans.

As for Tim Mynett, his relationship with Omar has been disturbing in every sense. She has paid him, as a political consultant, between January and mid-October of 2019, a “consulting fee” of $310,000. That’s $34,444 a month. He must be a very good consultant. The unusually large amounts he has received from her campaign have raised questions, given Omar’s extramarital affair with him, that remain to be answered.

When Beth Jordan charged Ilhan Omar for being an “adulteress,” it seems not to have fazed Omar. Has she, the great Defender of Islam, forgotten what would happen were she living in a Muslim country such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, where the Sharia is fully enforced, and convicted of adultery? One hundred lashes, then death by lapidation. Does she approve? It would be nice if some reporter were to ask her that very question. Consistency is not her strong suit.

There has always been so much going on in Omar’s  busy life.

There’s still the question of her brother, as mentioned above.  Omar is credibly accused of marrying her brother, Nur Said Elmi, in order to commit immigration and student-loan fraud, and even filed fraudulent tax returns. While married to Elmi, she filed a joint return with another man, Ahmed Hirsi, to whom she was not married at the time.

She is also accused of using campaign money not for political purposes, but on personal travel with Tim Mynett. This is still being investigated by the FEC.

She has already been required by the Minnesota Campaign Board to reimburse her own campaign for money she spent on personal matters, including travel and lawyer’s fees, and to pay a fine as well.

There’s much for an intrepid investigative team to look into.

But just now, let’s limit ourselves to summing up Ilhan Omar’s Washington Week in Review.

She’s been accused of being an adulteress by the wife of her lover and “political consultant” Tim Mynett, to whom she has given unusually large sums from her campaign funds. On the floor of the House, she tried to drown out, by shouting “Stop It! Stop It!,” a Congressman trying to be heard – there is no “free speech” as far as Ilhan Omar is concerned — all because he did nothing more than repeat verbatim a crude remark by her ally and fellow Muslim, Rashida Tlaib. Finally, she signed a letter denouncing the Administration for its “economic warfare” against Iran, deploring the very thing that most of us agree has been a smashing success both in curbing Iranian aggression through proxies (Houthis, Hezbollah, Shi’a militias), and in weakening popular support in Iran for the monstrous regime in Tehran. She thus joined in deploring a supposed “humanitarian catastrophe” in Iran because, although that country produces domestically 97% of all the medicines it needs, that remaining 3% was, the letter falsely implied, cannot be obtained except from the U.S. But even if that were true, two months before Omar’s letter was sent, the Treasury had already announced that it was ending all sanctions on medicine for Iran. It was no longer an issue. But what do facts matter when it’s such fun to bash the Administration?

That was Ilhan Omar’s Washington Week In Review. Let’s hope there are not too many more such weeks featuring the deplorable Omar and her cast of characters – those two Somali husbands, one a possible brother, the consultant/ lover who may yet become her third husband – all part of her scandalous entourage. We can’t take too much more of this. Minnesotans, next November, you will be able to right this wrong. Don’t miss the chance. Do your stuff.

Sign The Petition – Hallmark Shouldn’t Show LGBT ‘Marriages’ To Kids

Another week, another corporation lost to the “woke” leftist crowd. This time it’s Hallmark’s (2.1) television station, which managed to alienate everyone in the culture wars by accepting a “wedding” ad featuring a lesbian couple…then rejecting the ad…then apologizing for rejecting the ad.

And all this just after the company bowed to activist pressure to feature LGBT propaganda in its movies.

Should we even be surprised at this point? Hallmark officially caved on marriage and religious liberty long ago– it just didn’t make it to the screen until 2019. Chick-fil-A, long considered a corporate bastion for social conservatives, bailed in spectacular fashion. And other corporations can’t get enough of bowing and scraping to the far-left crowd.

Conservatives love to blame leftists for how corporations cave to the new American values of “anything goes unless we say otherwise.” However, the real problem is who we see in the mirror – the people who have allowed the Left to dictate the culture war market.

It’s time for 2ndVote Americans – those who love God, traditional values, and our fellow men and women – to unashamedly show our values. We can start by signing the One Million Moms petition which urges Hallmark to return to being a family-friendly company.

Winning won’t be easy. Traditional Christian and American values are being overrun. 2ndVote Americans have two choices: be the coward Peter who abandoned Christ or be the Peter who bravely led the apostles to victory on Earth and in Heaven. Otherwise, we will find ourselves standing alone one day, wondering how a nation which once proclaimed God on its money now actively persecutes Him and His values.

Yes, it will be hard. Yes, we may lose friends and money. But the biblical martyrs and those who flee persecution in the Middle East have given up far more to gain the Glory of Heaven. We must do the same, for our souls and for the souls of those who without us will be lost here and on Earth.

Florida: Muslim who wrote about taking revenge on non-Muslims not charged with terrorism for sabotaging plane

“Prosecutors said at his detention hearing in September that FBI investigators learned Alani lied about taking a trip to Iraq in March to visit his brother. They also found out he told a fellow American Airlines employee in June that his brother had been kidnapped and was a member of the extremist Islamic group known as ISIS. Prosecutors said Alani allowed the FBI to search his smartphone and agents found a ‘disturbing’ ISIS video in which a person was being shot in the head, and that he sent the video to someone with an Arabic message asking ‘Allah’ to take revenge against non-Muslims.”

Yet despite all that, “Alani was not charged with a terrorism-related offense.”

Apparently to have charged him with terrorism would have been “Islamophobic.”

“American Airlines mechanic pleads guilty to sabotaging plane at Miami International,” by Jay Weaver, Miami Herald, December 18, 2019:

An American Airlines mechanic accused of sabotaging a navigation system on a Miami flight with 150 passengers aboard pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempting to destroy the aircraft in a plea agreement designed to avoid a maximum sentence up to 20 years in prison.

“I do admit the guilt,” Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, 60, said through an Arabic interpreter in Miami federal court.

Alani, a veteran AA employee who had lived in California and commuted to his job at Miami International Airport, now faces up to three years in prison under a joint recommendation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and his defense lawyer. His sentencing is set for March 4.

At his detention hearing in September after his arrest, federal prosecutors suggested that Alani may have possible links to a Middle East terrorist group, but that allegation never came up at his plea hearing before U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke.

His defense attorney, Jonathan Meltz, made that point outside the courtroom when asked by reporters about the allegation. “This case is only about what you heard in court,” said Meltz, who added that his client “has been leading a law-abiding life for 30 years.”

After his arrest, Alani told federal investigators that he disabled the aircraft’s navigation system on the morning of July 17 because he was upset over stalled union contract negotiations with the airline. He said he wanted to generate some overtime for maintenance on the plane.

Alani also said that he meant no harm to anyone.

The Miami-Nassau flight was aborted before takeoff at Miami International Airport after an error alert appeared on the navigation system.

At Wednesday’s hearing, prosecutor Randy Hummel summarized the evidence against Alani, stressing that the AA flight’s navigation system was “deliberately obstructed” with foam by Alani and that the “aircraft was deemed not airworthy.”

Alani was accused of tampering with the plane’s so-called air data module, a system that reports aircraft speed, pitch and other critical flight data to pilots.

Alani was not charged with a terrorism-related offense. However, prosecutors said at his detention hearing in September that FBI investigators learned Alani lied about taking a trip to Iraq in March to visit his brother. They also found out he told a fellow American Airlines employee in June that his brother had been kidnapped and was a member of the extremist Islamic group known as ISIS.

Prosecutors said Alani allowed the FBI to search his smartphone and agents found a “disturbing” ISIS video in which a person was being shot in the head, and that he sent the video to someone with an Arabic message asking “Allah” to take revenge against non-Muslims. In addition, they said Alani sent $700 to someone in Iraq, where he was born and has family….

VIDEO: The Vortex — The Homosexual Papacy?

There is no authentic love for you, not one shred.

TRANSCRIPT

Reports swirled around the internet earlier yesterday that the Pontifical Biblical Commission had given its approval to a reading of Sacred Scripture that approves of homosexual unions. The reports were based on a new 300-page book entitled What Is Man?

Some media outlets reported the book said the following things about homosexuality: “a legitimate and dignified expression of the human being.” The media reports went on to claim that the book said, “A new and more adequate understanding of the human person imposes a radical reservation on the exclusive valuation of the heterosexual union in favor of an analogous reception of homosexuality and homosexual unions.”

In short, the time for looking at heterosexual unions as the only morally permissable union is at an end. Put the brakes on the idea of just heterosexual unions. The Church has been wrong for 2,000 years. It’s time to now include homosexual unions as also morally legitimate.

Again, media reports continued that, after much word-smithing and twisted interpretation by pro-gay scholars, the Old and New Testament condemnations were little else than “cultural features of that time.”

While there is still some disagreement about what the report actually says, or more importantly, why some of those references are in the report at all, one thing is certain: Because of the current pro-gay climate that has been created in the Church, Catholics on both sides jumped on the media reports and treated them as accurate.

Orthodox Catholics went ballistic over the possibility that the Vatican and Francis papacy had finally come totally out of the closet and the homosexual camp in the Church was gaga over the report, as seen here in a tweet from Brokeback Martin, celebrating what he thought was an accurate report.

Why was everyone so ready to believe these reports? That’s easy. Because homosexual men, admitted into seminary by other homosexual men, ordained by homosexual men, consecrated bishops by homosexual men, seizing operational control of the Church, have brought the Church to this point.

Men like Fr. James Martin is little else than the latest in a long line of homosexualists in the clergy, whose entire reason for entering the clergy was to get the Church to bless their filth.

It all started with a communist agent invasion beginning almost a century ago, and now a century later, the Church is coming apart at the seams.

And hundreds of millions of wimpy head-in-the-sand Catholics, who have zero understanding of the idea that the Faith must be fought for in every generation, simply whistle past the graveyard because they are too terrified to get into the fight.

The pro-homosexual clerics are bastard sons of the Church. They must be called out and challenged at every turn. They have no love for Christ, His Church or the souls of those they corrupt on the march to perverting the teachings.

Sodomy is not a gift. It is an evil that if, participated in and unrepented of, leads a soul to Hell forever, like many other mortal sins. But too many of these scholars and clergy are homosexuals themselves or completely embracing of it so they may gain Church support for their personally immoral lives.

All of this was painfully evident when the homosexual clergy child sex abuse scandal burst upon the Church in 2002. That was brought into the Church by homosexual priests and bishops — and there was loads more homosexual activity within the clergy and hierarchy than just child abuse. It’s just that a portion of these sick men also attacked children, and that is what brought the truth into the open.

Yet even still today, homosexual cardinals and their allies continue to deny the plain truth. Men like Blase Cupich and Joseph Tobin continue to spew out that homosexuality has nothing to do with homosexual abuse.

Yet in nearly every single example of scandal still being vomited into the world from the Church, homosexuality is front and center.

  • Buffalo Bp. Richard Malone resigned for covering up homosexual abuse.
  • Bishop Michael Bransfield had to step down in disgrace for homosexual abuse.
  • Monsignor Walter Rossi, the rector of the National Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, is being investigated by not one, but two, dioceses for homosexual abuse.
  • Crookston Bp. Michael Hoeppner is being investigated for covering up homosexual assault and lying to parishioners and his clergy.
  • Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York ignored years of complaints and covered up for homosexual priest Fr. Peter Miqueli, who was stealing from parishes to support a sex addiction for gay prostitutes.

The list of homosexual crimes committed against the Faith by prelates and priests goes on and on and on.

Gay, drug-fueled orgies in the Vatican, Roman clergy frequenting gay bars, gay officials promoted by Francis, abusive homosexual prelates covered up for by him, his own number two accused of covering up for a wildly abusive bishop.

As we said, it goes on and on. Homosexuality, as a gift in itself, is now ensconced in the Vatican as perfectly normal.

What Catholics need to understand is really pretty simple once you get your head wrapped around it. Nearly every current bishop in the West has been part of the homosexualization of the Church. At the very least, they have sat by and said nothing.

But for the majority, the seminaries were hotbeds of homosexuality. They were engineered starting in the 1960s to recruit, form and ordain gay men and weed out heterosexual men. Once ordained, they patiently worked their way up the career ladder, promoted by other gay men, all with the single intent of corrupting the Church into teaching that their filth is moral and acceptable.

And now they have reached a point where they feel free enough to say Scripture has it wrong. Brokeback Martin tweeted that very thing himself weeks ago, saying he doesnt deny Scripture condemns homosexuality, but adding the rhetorical question: “The issue is precisely whether the biblical judgment is correct.”

The biblical judgment is correct, Martin. It is you and your fellow homosexual travelers who are wrong. You are a filthy, condemnable lot who pervert teaching to feel good about yourselves and rationalize your evil. You can meet with the pope all you want and tweet about it all you want.

This is a homosexual papacy, so anything Francis says which contradicts Divine Law can be completely dismissed. He is wrong, flat-out wrong — underscored by when he told a gay man that “God made you that way.”

The civil war the Church is now engaged in has been brought to you first by communism, and then accelerated by perverted homosexual men in the clergy. Period.

Ten years ago, Church Militant started telling you about all this. We were mocked continually. We weren’t wrong then, and we aren’t wrong now.

Understand: Your souls and the souls of your loved ones are being offered up by twisted men to support their own psychological illnesses. From decades of highly effeminate men in the pulpits to clergy in Rome, there is no authentic love for you, not one shred.

VIDEO: Former Extremists Frank Meeink and Tanya Joya: The Way Back

Former extremists Tanya Joya (jihadi bride) and Frank Meeink (neo-Nazi) talk with Clarion Project about their journey out of extremism and how that has shifted their views on the issues society is polarized by at present.

Frank Meeink talks about how he doesn’t see himself as a victim, and how his experience in walking away from being a neo-Nazi has changed his relationship with violence.

When I joined that group [neo-Nazis], I didn’t lose my humanity. I gave it up for acceptance. You can’t have empathy and humanity and be a neo-Nazi. Even using my manners wasn’t something I did anymore as a neo-Nazi. I had to bury it deep down.

Former jihadi bride Tanya Joya reflects on what it means to try to be a good person in a toxic and extremist environment.

“When I see people like Hoda Muthana [an American jihadi bride asking to come back to the U.S.] and other extremists, people who reject the West … I empathize with them, because what I see are young women who come from broken homes who are escaping the trauma they were raised in. I see them trying to seek God, like I was.

They’ve been misguided, and I know what it’s like because I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to be vulnerable and weak-minded. I also understand the process of radicalization … how every time you try to think outside the bubble you get shut down by the community.

Joya speaks to how her views changed when she became a mother, and how being a mother gave her courage to have the confidence to speak her mind. She also reflects on how these women have been living in chaos and destruction for the past six years, never experiencing a single day’s happiness, never getting a break.

“We need to give them a taste of happiness back,” she says.

Joya admits they’ve committed crimes but, as Franks also believes, haven’t lost their humanity; they have d to bury it, she says, adding that we have a chance to rehabilitate people by bringing that back into their core character.

Are Liberal Dems Holding Up Designating the Brotherhood as Terrorists?

Editor’s Note: On April 30, 2019, then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that the Trump administration plans to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization is “working its way through the internal process.”

The move to designate the Muslim Brotherhood was started in 2015 by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who introduced a bill that urged the government to take such action. Clarion Project spearheaded a campaign to educate legislators and move the bill forward.

The bill, which enjoyed bipartisan support, included comprehensive documentation about the Muslim Brotherhood‘s involvement in terrorism. It also outlined how the Brotherhood is linked to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT).

“Because the Brotherhood is not designated as a terrorist group, it is able to operate within the U.S. via a network of fronts, allowing the organization to wield political and ideological influence and marginalize competing Muslim groups which don’t share their anti-Western vision,” noted Clarion Project National Security Analyst and Shillman Fellow Ryan Mauro.

The opinions below represent those of the author and not necessarily those of Clarion Project.

The wide presence of Islamists, especially members of the Muslim Brotherhood, all over media and decision-making bureaus in the United States, has become a disturbing issue. When President Trump took office, there were wide hopes that he would would designate the Muslim Brotherhood as an international terrorist organization.

This move would have been highly applauded not only by American voters, but also by major Arab states that have suffered hell at the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Here we are four years later, approaching the end of Trump’s first term, and the Muslim Brotherhood has not been designated as a terrorist organization — yet.

Rather, the radical Islamist group and its U.S.-linked organizations are gaining more power over decision-makers. Moreover, they are being elected as lawmakers, formulating American public opinion through media, bullying American Jewish students on university campuses through their ridiculous BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanction) movement against Israel and leading women marches against Trump, nation-wide.

The rising influence of Islamists over Washington, D.C. is mostly correlated to a blind war being waged by liberal Democrats against President Trump, more than it has to do with the inexplicable American leftists’ tolerance with Islamist ideology, which dictates “jihad against non-Muslims” and “sabotaging the West from within” to build their own Islamic Caliphate system.

According to a report in the Egyptian media which quotes Dr. Gabriel Soma, a scholar of international law and adviser to the president, Trump is serious about designating the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yet, one can hardly blame the Trump administration for failing to accomplish this task. Sadly, the main guilty party in this messy situation is the liberal Democrats, who are unconditionally opening up their media establishments, civil society organizations, think tanks, and even governmental and congressional offices to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Understandably, Trump’s victory in 2016 elections threatened the Democrats to the core. It was not only threatening to the liberal values they believe in, but also to their supremacy in the American political system.

To the Democrats, Trump’s victory seemed like surrendering their long-held seats to the “obnoxious” tide of populism. In an attempt to handle the new reality, American Leftists, who control most of the media and civil society in the U. S., started to act in a completely illogical manner.

For example, a big part of why American Leftists hate Egyptian President El-Sisi and tend to neglect or lower the tone of his positive achievements in Egypt and the Middle East, is that President Trump likes him and calls him “a friend.”

That, perhaps, explains why American Leftists are opening their large and prestigious media stations for members of the Muslim Brotherhood to falsely represent themselves as Egyptian or Arab political opposition groups, thus giving these Brotherhood groups a platform to speak against not only the (anti-Brotherhood) Arab leaders but against Trump as well.

This illogical behavior by liberal Democrats is coupled with generous donations from Qatar to their media outlets and think tanks to the point where the exemplary American domestic political system itself is threatened (not to mention the  effectiveness of American foreign policy).

Nevertheless, the biggest harm the Democrats, blinded by hatred towards Trump, are causing to their country and the entire world is their insistence of standing in the way of the Trump administration’s attempts to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as an international terrorist organization.

Every time a step is taken by the administration in that direction, the Democrats rise against Trump accusing him of being “Islamophobic” or “recklessly destroying” U.S. affairs with other countries such as Qatar and Turkey.

Despite this opposition, the State Department managed to designate a number of armed factions of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations; e.g. Hasm and Liwa Al-Thawra in Egypt.

As the end of Trump’s first term approaches, amidst endless congressional debate on impeachment which will be followed by a brutal battle for the presidency in 2020, it has become unclear whether the Trump administration is willing or is still capable to take the step of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as an international terrorist organization.

One can only hope this will happen, although “hope is the privilege of the weak!”

A Christmas Meditation on Christ as “The Prophet”

When it comes to prophesies and predictions, have you ever noticed how often the “experts” get it wrong? Winston Churchill quipped, “I always avoid prophesying beforehand, because it is much better policy to prophesy after the event has already taken place.” Predictions are dangerous. Consider these “prophecies” made by various people:

  • “There is not the slightest indication that [nuclear] energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will.” —Dr. Albert Einstein, 1932
  • “The thought of being president frightens me. I do not think I want the job.” —Ronald Reagan, Governor of California, 1973
  • “While theoretically and technically television may be feasible, commercially and financially I consider it an impossibility, a development of which we need waste little time dreaming.”  —Lee de Forest, American inventor of the audio tube, pioneer in development of radio and TV, 1926
  • “Gone with the Wind” is going to be the biggest flop in Hollywood history. I’m just glad Clark Gable will be the one falling on his face and not Gary Cooper.” —Gary Cooper, 1938
  • “I do not consider Hitler to be as bad as he is depicted. He is showing an ability that is amazing, and he seems to be gaining his victories without much bloodshed.” —Mahatma Gandhi, May 1940
  • “You ain’t goin’ nowhere…son. You ought to go back to drivin’ a truck.” —Jim Denny, manager of the Grand Ole Opry, firing Elvis Presley after one performance, 9/25/54

True prophecies are hard to come by. That’s what makes the prophecies of Jesus’s arrival and ministry amazing. Jesus’ role as the Prophet was foretold by Moses 1400 years before Jesus was ever born. This prophecy is one of more than 300 Old Testament prophecies Jesus has fulfilled.

In Deuteronomy 18, God spoke through Moses, telling the Israelites, “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.”

This prophet would be like Moses, meek (which means, “power under control”) and humble… but also very capable. God sealed Moses’ ministry by doing great miracles—which He also did through Jesus Christ—even raising the dead. God verified Christ’s ministry that much more by raising Him from the dead after His public execution.

Around the time of Christ’s coming, the Jewish people were waiting for the Messiah. They were waiting for “the Prophet.” They even asked John the Baptist if he was the Prophet. He said, No. But one is coming after me who is so great that I am not even worthy to tie His sandal laces.

Peter, the leader among the apostles, and Stephen, the first martyr, both testify in the book of Acts that Jesus was the Prophet foretold by Moses.

There are many false prophets—even in our day. What is a true prophet?

  1. He has heard the voice of God.
  2. He is sent by God
  3. He is speaking the words of God to the people.
  4. He warns the people when they go astray
  5. He communicates the will of God to the people.
  6. He reveals God’s plans for the future.

A true prophet’s words come true, and Jesus predicted the fall of Jerusalem with stunning accuracy in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13, and it came true in AD 70. He predicted that Jerusalem would be trodden down by the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles is complete.

He also predicted that one day He will return. We live between the first and second coming of Jesus.

Meanwhile, the prophetic work of Christ continues on this earth through the power of His written Word.

Martin Luther said: “I have made a covenant with my God that He send me neither visions, dreams, nor even angels. I am well satisfied with the gift of the Holy Scriptures, which give me abundant instruction and all that I need to know both for this life and for the life which is to come.”

Someone noted, “Other books were given for our information; the Bible was given for our transformation.”

The story is told of a little boy who went to his friend’s house and would always see his friend’s grandmother deeply engrossed in reading her Bible. Finally his curiosity got the better of him. “Why do you suppose your grandmother reads the Bible so much?” he asked. “I’m not sure.” said his friend, “but I think it’s because she’s cramming for her finals.”

Jesus is the Prophet, but He’s more than just a prophet.

At Christmas, this is what we celebrate: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Netflix Adds Phony Jesus to Your Watchlist

We’ve seen stranger things during the Christmas season, but Netflix’s latest stunt isn’t turning out to be a blockbuster with Christians. It’s supposed to be a comedy, but most Brazilians — where the show originated — aren’t laughing. “The First Temptation of Christ” is about a Jesus who identifies as gay, “has relations,” and refuses to preach the Bible — a not-so-side-splitting plot to a predominately Catholic nation. In fact, the idea is so controversial that more than 1.8 million people have signed a Portuguese petition calling on Netflix to pull this “clear attack on Christianity” and issue an apology.

Frankly, the site’s decision to air such an offensive show isn’t surprising. This is what the world does. We can’t expect a business that’s not based in the truths of the Bible to give a fair representation of Jesus. But what Netflix has done has gone far beyond giving an alternate explanation. The choice to put this on their platform is a deliberate choice to make a mockery not only of Christians, but of the Christ they follow.

The wisdom of offering a show that would trample underfoot the object of worship of millions of people — not just in America but worldwide — shows that the decision to run the show isn’t one based in business principles. There’s no way that the monetary value of a show like this will outweigh what they’ll lose in terms of their viewers’ trust. It’s been said before, you don’t see Netflix offering a similar scenario featuring Muhammad, or Buddha, or any other religious figure. They’ll attack Jesus because they think it won’t cause them any problems with Christians.

Christians need to see this for what it really is: Netflix is pushing the boundaries hoping to normalize the notion that God is created in our own image, instead of the other way around. This is an age-old lie that’s been around since the beginning of time. It’s time Christians wake up to the fact that corporations like Netflix will keep moving in this direction (after all, it’s their natural inclination.) Our voices will be trampled along with everything that’s holy if we don’t speak up and when necessary turnover a few tables.

No one is saying that Netflix doesn’t have the right to feature this show. As far as offering the film in the United States is concerned, the First Amendment applies. Government censorship only transfers the burden of responsibility to someone else. They have the right, but that doesn’t mean it is right. As consumers the world over, we have a stewardship responsibility to speak up and take a stand. It’s good to see so many people in Brazil calling on Netflix to reconsider. I hope they’ll listen to their viewers (or at least, former viewers).

Will American Christians continue to keep Netflix in their watchlist? I pray we don’t have to wait until next season to find out.

NY Muslim Patrol Bullies Get Bullied Back by the Bloods

Members of New York’s Muslim Patrol recently became embroiled in a near-explosive altercation outside the Masjid Taqwa in Brooklyn with members of the Bloods, a notoriously violent gang.

The Muslim Patrol gained international attention in the fall of 2018 after several of its patrol cars — which look like New York Police Department (NYPD) cars –were spotted in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

See Clarion Project’s Special Report on New York’s Sharia Patrol

The Bloods are a violent African-American street gang known for trafficking drugs and guns. This criminal organization has made national headlines with targeted assassinations, drive-by shootings and deadly gun battles with law enforcement.

On December 10, a verbal altercation began in the evening when a teenage boy allegedly “disrespected” a Muslim woman outside the Brooklyn mosque on Fulton Street. The boy did not touch the woman, bystanders say, but did speak to her.

A Muslim Patrol member grabbed the teen by the collar and threw him against the gate of the Masjid Taqwa, a local mosque. While the boy was pressed firmly against the fence, the Muslim Patrol member held him by the neck and lectured him.

“That MCP [Muslim Community Patrol] officer snatched that boy up,” one witness said. “He grabbed him by the collar and threw him up against the gate and held onto him by the neck area.”

After the rebuke, the boy complained to his father, who happens to be a senior member of the local Bloods. The father rallied six other Blood members to join him and went to Masjid Taqwa, where at least one Blood member brandished a weapon.

“One of them was strapped,” a witness said of a Blood member who had a firearm. “He raised his jacket and flashed that gun. Those dudes came out there to shoot up that Masjid. The father, he wanted to mess that MCP officer up.”

According to the witness, the father said to the Muslim Patrol officer, “Dude, I’m going to bust in your f—— mouth if you ever put your hands on my child again.”

The situation escalated after the Muslim Patrol member called for backup. Soon, several Muslim Patrol cars arrived with sirens screaming and lights flashing.

Witnesses reported mutual shouting as the Bloods confronted the original Muslim Patrol member, who was quickly shoved into the mosque by his comrades to protect him.

“It was going to be something big out there,” one witness said. “The Bloods were shouting, ‘You all are running around here playing like you’re the real police. You all want to put your hands on these little kids. We don’t give a f— about your Masjid.  F— your Masjid.”

Some bystanders also reportedly taunted the Muslim Patrol, shouting, “Put your hands on me! Come on, put your hands on me!”

As tensions rose, a New York Police Department (NYPD) patrol unit arrived and used its loudspeaker to tell the two arguing factions to “disperse” and to “keep it moving.”

One witness familiar with the Bloods said, “These Blood dudes are from 8th Avenue in Brooklyn, and they are one of the harder core Bloods over there. So those MCP officers are going to get some beef.”

As the Bloods dispersed, one Blood member turned and told the Muslim Patrol members, “This is not over. It’s just begun.”

The Muslim Patrol originally said its purpose was to serve as a liaison between Muslims and the NYPD. But after the mosque shootings in New Zealand last March, in which a gunman live-streamed his murder of 51 Muslims on Facebook, the Muslim Patrol publicly altered its purpose.

It now describes itself as a law enforcement organization, claiming its goal is to “protect members of the local community from escalating quality-of-life nuisance crimes.”

Yet, “bullying” and “gangster-like” tactics have been reported by locals in areas where the patrol operates, creating a backlash against the self-described “civilian patrol organization.”

The Vortex — The Crisis Goes Mainstream. But not the crisis you think of every day.

TRANSCRIPT

If there was ever a question of the Catholic crisis not being mainstream, those questions can now be laid aside.

Sean Hannity, the dominant star of prime-time cable news commentators, has made it official.

He is leaving the Catholic Church, and his reason — as stated in an interview published three days ago in the Christian Post — is the Catholic Church has “too much institutionalized corruption,” adding that it has not been rectified.

The 57-year-old Fox News star, to be certain, had already been on record years ago saying he disagreed with Church teaching on birth control, as was famously revealed in a 2007 Fox News interview with then Fr. Thomas Euteneuer.

But before we pigeonhole him and his latest announcement about leaving the Church into a specific box, we need to learn something here.

Given the near-daily reports now of corruption, it’s easy to think of the crisis in terms of these unfolding scandals of homosexual priests abusing teenage boys, or bishops covering them, or Vatican officials ripping off billions, using money for gay lovers, or misdirecting money donated for charity for investments or administrative costs. The scandals show no signs of abating.

But those scandals are only symptoms of the greater crisis — a crisis as Church Militant has been saying for nearly a decade — is of supernatural faith within the hierarchy.

Of course, when you lose your faith, all these horrible, sinful, wicked, evil things are going to happen. And how has that trickled down to the average Catholic, like Hannity in this case?

The lack of faith among the hierarchy has been an issue for decades now, and it would be preposterous to not understand the massive falling away from the Faith this has caused.

The dominant effect of the crisis has been this: the Faith not being transmitted to the laity. And that stands to reason; one of the first principles of philosophy is: You cannot give what you do not have.

So how could a clergy and hierarchy that no longer possessed the Faith themselves transmit it to a laity being besieged by a culture attacking the Church on every side?

At the very moment the laity needed fathers to stand and protect them, these men deserted them. But more than deserting, they also betrayed them by setting in motion the machinery to perpetuate the evil for generations to come.

In addition to just themselves, they also recruited thousands and thousands of other homosexual and faithless men into seminaries. They populated the seminary faculties with gay abusers. They kept orthodox men out of the seminary and ordained active homosexuals to go out into the parishes and corrupt the minds of the faithful.

These wicked men stood in pulpits and worked out their own psychological trauma instead of teaching the Faith, slowly perverting congregations and turning them away from the Faith.

Sean Hannity is responsible for his own choices. No one is saying anything else. But — and it is a big but — his public apostasy has not happened in a vacuum, as it hasn’t for tens of millions of other American Catholics who have also left the Church.

Interestingly, Hannity says since leaving the Church he is “closer” to God. That would be the expected response from any Catholic who was taught next to nothing as a child, and then has witnessed nothing except a steady flow of one story of corruption after another pouring out of the Church.

Of course, the correct response is to remain in the Church and fight for Her. But Hannity — like so many other Catholics, it would appear — apparently was never taught what the Church actually is — Who She actually is.

So he has no concept of staying and fighting for something because he doesn’t see the “something” worth fighting for.

One final thought: There is a parallel case here for Hannity.

American politics and journalism are rife with scandal; the country itself is being transformed into a socialist state. The nation itself is transforming into something it was never destined or designed to be.

Yet Hannity doesn’t throw in the towel on America and become a Canadian, for example. Why Because he has sufficient “catechesis,” if you will, in what America is. He is schooled in the founding documents; he is schooled and educated in the country’s history and so forth.

He understands it’s worth fighting for. But in the case of the Church, he has little to no understanding. He was trained in the Faith by faithless men — by men who were, in reality, actual enemies of the Faith.

His move away from and now out of the Church can hardly be a surprise.
