HARVARD-CAPS HARRIS POLL: Biden Approval Remains at Historic Lows

Voters overwhelmingly believe we are in or headed for a recession. Inflation and affordability are the top issue across the political spectrum.

NEW YORK, NY /PRNewswire/ — Stagwell (NASDAQ: STGW) today released the results of the July Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll, a monthly collaboration between the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard (CAPS) and the Harris Poll, a Stagwell research and insights firm.

Four in ten voters report feeling pessimistic about their lives over the next year in the face of historic inflation levels and data suggest we are looking at another hyper-partisan election cycle. The topics surveyed in this month’s poll include the political impact of Roe vs. Wade, voter views on the Biden administration energy policy, the January 6 hearings, and the 2024 presidential election. Download key results here.

“Democrats can still hold onto hope ahead of the midterms, with the race a dead heat despite President Biden’s approval rating being at a historic low and nearly half of Americans believing the country is currently in a recession,” said Mark Penn, Co-Director of the Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll. “Looking to 2024, most voters are still open to a moderate independent candidate, but among Republicans, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is solidifying his status as the second choice. In these divided times, voters themselves seem to be holding contradictory opinions on issues such as energy policy and Trump’s legal culpability in the January 6 riots.”

GOP ON THE RISE AS ECONOMY STRUGGLES
  • Biden’s approval remains at a historic low of 38%.
  • 84% think the economy is either in recession or will be within the next year.
  • Perceptions on inflation seem to have peaked slightly: 33% of voters, up from 28% last month, think the U.S. economy is strong today, and inflation – while still the number one issue facing the country – fell 6 points.
  • Approval rating of the Republican Party neared 50 percent for the first time since February 2022 in our poll – now 5 points higher than the Democratic party approval rating.
2022 MIDTERMS ARE IN DEAD HEAT, WITH INFLATION AND ROE VS. WADE AS THE DRIVING CONCERNS
  • The generic Congressional ballot is split 50-50, with Democrats and Republicans voting along party lines; Independents lean with Republicans 54-46
  • Inflation and affordability is overwhelmingly the biggest concerns for both Democrats and Republicans, followed by Abortion Rights for Democrats and Immigration for Republicans
  • Democrats have made little progress mobilizing on abortion so far: 39% of voters, up from 36% in June, say the Supreme Court’s decision has made them more likely to vote for a Democrat in the midterms
VOTERS SEEKING FRESH CHOICES ON THE BALLOT IN 2024
  • Voters are tired of hyper-partisanship: Strong majorities of over 6 in 10 voters don’t want either Joe Biden on Donald Trump to run in 2024
  • A majority open to considering a “moderate independent candidate” in case the choice is between Trump or Biden.
ENERGY POLICIES – VOTERS BLAME BIDEN, ARE SKEPTICAL ABOUT CLIMATE ‘EMERGENCY’
  • 59% of voters oppose the Biden administration’s energy and gas policies, and 63% think they are responsible for most of the increase in gas prices
  • 45% think climate change is an immediate threat, including 66% of Democrats and 41% of independents. Voters want the administration to emphasize lower prices and energy independence over climate change.
  • Climate change is an immediate threat to 45% of voters, including 66% of Democrats and 41% of independents
  • Voters are wary of the climate issue being politicized: Only four in ten say that an emergency climate declaration by the Biden administration would be legitimate
JAN 6. HEARINGS & ELECTORAL COUNT – VOTERS SPLIT ON DETAILS BUT WANT COUNTRY TO MOVE ON
  • Voters are split on how and whether Trump should be held responsible: 53% of voters think Trump should face criminal indictment for his actions on January 6, but 54% think he should be allowed to run for president again.
  • Nevertheless, 69% think it is time to unite the country and heal.
  • Voters are split 50-50 on whether Congress should be involved in certifying presidential elections instead of the courts. Still, clear majorities believe the role of the Vice President and state governors should be purely ceremonial.
THE U.S. ON A GLOBAL STAGE – TAIWAN
  • 48% of voters think Taiwan is neutral towards the U.S., 36% think it is an ally, and 16% think it is an enemy
  • 52% of voters support senior U.S. government officials visiting Taiwan even if China has signaled it might act military to prevent them from doing so—surprisingly, 59% of Democrats support it, over 10 points higher than Republicans and Independents.

The July Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll survey was conducted online within the United States from July 27-28, 2022, among 1,885 registered voters by The Harris Poll and HarrisX. Covid Mandates, Lockdowns—But Halting Gay Orgies To Stop Monkeypox Is Going Too Far?

Gay privilege. Special rights for special classes.

Men who have sex with men are at the highest risk of infection right now from monkeypox, according to the WHO.

About 99% of cases are among men, and at least 95% of those patients are men who have sex with other men, according to WHO official Rosamund Lewis.

Americans Lost Fundamental Freedoms During Covid — But Halting Gay Orgies To Stop Monkeypox Is Too Far

Just recently, people were forced into isolation to reduce covid exposure, but the gay orgies that spread monkeypox continue unabated.

By: Chad Felix Greene, THe Federalist, August 04, 2022

Like many people, far too many, I lost a loved one to Covid-19. My grandmother came to visit her family a few weeks before she became ill, she was there to show off her new husband, her fifth, having outlived her others. She was perky, sassy, and the happiest I had seen her. She greeted my husband and me with a wide smile and an enthusiastic hug. In her 80s, she had never let anything stop her, but she never anticipated the power of the government.

When she and her husband both tested positive, they were separated. She spent the next week alone, isolated from her family. Covid regulations kept her locked in a room, afraid and crying to see her family one last time. She passed before she was allowed to have the chance. Further Covid regulations prevented us from holding a funeral for her. I had begun making her a quilt, but I wasn’t able to finish in time. All I could think about was all those photos of elderly couples separated by walls of plastic, only wanting to embrace each other.

Yet, for two years, we were all told that these cultural and familial traditions were selfish and dangerous. As Paul Krugman smugly lectured in the New York Times in 2020, “What they call ‘freedom’ is actually absence of responsibility. Rational policy in a pandemic, however, is all about taking responsibility. The main reason you shouldn’t go to a bar and should wear a mask isn’t self-protection, although that’s part of it; the point is that congregating in noisy, crowded spaces or exhaling droplets into shared air puts others at risk. And that’s the kind of thing America’s right just hates, hates to hear.”

Joel Mathis of The Week, citing an anonymous woman replying to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., demanding that people stay home, “‘I’ll do what I want’ — that could end up killing people.” He continued, “her conception that ‘America’ means doing whatever you want, even if it risks harming your neighbors. She’s far from alone in believing the animating idea of this country is a sort of freedom from any responsibility to our fellow citizens.”

After so much emphasis on the importance of personal sacrifice for the greater good, you would think that a new, highly contagious disease would be treated with more seriousness by the left. Instead, when monkeypox crossed over onto America’s shores, the left decided the rules no longer applied to them. Similar to how 1,000 health professionals demanded Black Lives Matter protests were worth the risk during the height of Covid, LGBT folks decided anonymous sex and fetish parades were more important than public safety.

California state Sen. Scott Wiener, best known for lowering the criminal penalty for knowingly exposing others to HIV and advocating to keep adults as old as 24 from being placed on the sex offender list if they sexually exploit a minor as young as 14, declared, “Lots of sex shaming of gay men around monkeypox. The same shaming we saw in the 1980s re HIV. Lecturing people not to have sex isn’t a public health strategy. It didn’t stop HIV — it made it worse — & it won’t stop monkeypox. What will work is vaccination, testing & education.”

Encouraging his fellow citizens in San Francisco to ignore the consequences of public sexual exploits, he happily proclaimed, “Awesome @SFAIDSFound guidance on monkeypox & fun. We can continue to have fun while reducing risk. Closing bathhouses in 1980s didn’t reduce HIV. It was an epic blunder & pushed people into the shadows. Let’s not make that same knee-jerk mistake with MPX.”

Jack Turban, assistant professor of child psychiatry at UC San Francisco, insisted, “Monkeypox has serious physical symptoms, but we also need to focus on the mental health impact for the #queer community. Being gay is a healthy & normal aspect of human diversity. Sex is a healthy normal part of life. Have pride in your community while we combat the virus.” Unfortunately, far too many gay men seem intent on keeping their self-esteem intact through prioritizing “fun.”

As the Daily Caller reported, a popular OnlyFans user, with 98,000 followers on his adult Twitter, put into perspective how far this all can go. In the middle of a growing monkeypox outbreak in the gay male community, he decided to attend two orgies in one weekend — sexually engaging with at least 20 and upwards of 40 men — hook up with three additional strangers later that evening, and enjoy a four-way the following day before discovering he had been infected with the disease. If that sounds like an extreme example, keep in mind that the festival promoted by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation was described as “Up Your Alley (aka Dore Alley), where you’ll get your fill of hot hairy daddies, hungry pigs, BDSM babes and kinks of all kinds. Douchie’s got some hot tips for a fun and filthy weekend — free of anxiety.”

Without a hint of self-awareness, Sen. Wiener gasped on Aug. 1, “The monkeypox outbreak is an emergency & we need to use every tool we have to control it. I’m deeply grateful to @GavinNewsom for recognizing the peril we face & thus declaring a state of emergency. This will help expand vaccination, testing & other critical health strategies.” The New England Journal of Medicine determined that 98 percent of cases were gay and bisexual men. The World Health Organization urged gay and bisexual men to limit sexual partners to address the rapid spread.

Biden and Manchin Building America Backward

Say it ain’t so, Joes!

In 2010, when it looked like Senator Manchin could lose reelection to Republican John Raese, Manchin released a famous ad in which he literally shoots a hole in a climate cap and trade bill.

Watch: Dead Aim.

As a Senator from the energy producing state of West Virginia, he has been looked to as a protector of sound energy and a bulwark against wasteful global warming policy.

Not anymore.  Senator Manchin cut a quiet deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the climate bad news is back.

Sadly, Joe Biden and Joe Manchin’s “Inflation Reduction Act” will do nothing to reduce inflation.

This massive spending bill will, however, stick us with “more inflation, more debt, more supply chain issues, more energy shortages, more blackouts” as CFACT’s Marc Morano explained on the Joe Piscopo show.

The bill spends over $351 billion on the Left’s climate agenda.  This will damage America’s energy economy, while having no meaningful impact on global temperature.  China and India’s increasing emissions alone make Biden’s climate ideology more than completely useless.

It will also weaponize the IRS by showering 45.6 billion dollars onto America’s favorite tax collector to be used to hire tens of thousands of auditors to shake down the middle class.  Or as the Wall Street Journal put it, the IRS is about to go beast mode.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine exposed decades of bad European energy policy.  The inability of wind and solar to replace energy from nuclear and fossil fuels made European nations dependent on Russian coal and natural gas.

Peter Caddle reports at Breitbart that the Prime Minister of Saxony, a German state, has declared his nation’s Energiewende, or energy transition, a failure.

“The energy transition with gas as the base load has failed,” he reportedly said, with the publication noting that — even before the current gas crisis — green energy struggled to supply sufficient power in the country last winter…“As long as the federal government has not developed a new concept for the energy transition, the nuclear power plants must continue to run.”

Europe exposed the folly of left-wing energy policy.

Biden didn’t learn.  Manchin caved.

Soros-Backed Florida Prosecutor Suspended by Governor Ron DeSantis

Speaking from Tampa on Thursday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced the suspension of State Attorney Andrew Warren, one of many prosecutors around the country backed by left-wing billionaire financier George Soros.

DeSantis detailed some of the egregious instances of Warren’s disregard for the rule of law — from refusing to enforce any prohibitions on sex change operations for minors, regardless of action from the legislature, to asserting that he would not enforce any laws relating to protecting the right to life in the Sunshine State.

“It’s not for him to put himself above that and say that he is not going to enforce the laws. We don’t elect people in one part of the state to have veto power over what the entire state decides on these important issues,” DeSantis explained. “The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not an individual state attorneys, and so when you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty.”

“You have neglected your duty and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to perform those duties and so today, we are suspending State Attorney Andrew Warren,” DeSantis continued, vowing that his administration will not “allow this pathogen that’s been around the country of ignoring the law. We are not going to let that get a foothold here in the state of Florida.”

Bravo.

Soros Pours $125 Million into 2022 Midterm Elections

On January 28, 2022, Politico.com reported that Soros was seeding Democracy PAC, the super PAC which had been a vehicle for his campaign spending since 2019, with $125 million to support Democratic candidates and organizations during the 2022 election cycle and beyond. Soros said in a statement that Democracy PAC’s  donations would go to “causes and candidates, regardless of political party,” that were committed to “strengthening the infrastructure of American democracy: voting rights and civic participation, civil rights and liberties, and the rule of law.”

The president of Democracy PAC, George Soros’ son Alexander, released a statement of his own in which he said that the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021 was: (a) one of numerous “ongoing efforts to discredit and undermine our electoral process,” and (b) was a sign of “the magnitude of the threat to our democracy.” The younger Soros added that this was “a generational threat that cannot be addressed in just one or two election cycles.”

Falsely Teaching Our Children That America is Evil

For 42 years American school children have been subject to a barrage of misinformation about our American history. This has helped cause many of them to hate America. And virtually every day we read about the results.

For example, there’s a curriculum clash in one of our nation’s most conservative states. On Friday, Gary Bauer reported that the Oklahoma Board of Education decided to downgrade the Tulsa Public School District’s accreditation. This is because in Tulsa, they’re still teaching Marxist critical race theory—which is now against the law in the Sooner State.

Oklahoma’s Secretary of Education is Ryan Walters, who told Fox News: “What we’ve got to do is go back to teaching our history and ensuring that every young person has the ability to be successful and be inspired by our history.”

He added, “We’re the greatest country in the history of the world, and our kids need to know that.”

But how will children in Oklahoma, and all the other states, learn to appreciate our country when so many have been brainwashed with a false view for so long?

“Howard Zinn died in 2010, but [his book] A People’s History of the United States lives on and carries the rhetoric of past decades of leftist politics forward with it.” So writes Dr. Mary Grabar, author of the book, Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation against America (2019).

Grabar is a resident fellow at the Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization and is the founder of Dissident Prof Education Project, Inc. She has taught at the college level for two decades, including at Emory University.

Grabar describes the late Howard Zinn, the American history professor who would’ve turned 100 this year, as a “communist propagandist.”

In her book, Grabar observes, “Zinn’s pervasive influence is a national tragedy, especially considering just how distorted, manipulative, and plain dishonest A People’s History of the United States is.”

Zinn’s work has been widely read by many who assume it is truthful. Indeed, A People’s History remains among the most widely-assigned history textbooks in America. But Zinn was a self-described Marxist, and author Daniel Flynn once described him as an “unreconstructed, anti-American Marxist,” whose book was a “cartoon anti-history.”

Grabar quotes many reputable historians who similarly find Zinn’s historical standards sub-par.

I spoke with Dr. Grabar for a radio segment on Zinn and his influence. She told me, “I don’t think there’s another book on American history that has sold as many copies as Howard Zinn’s has. It has been in constant publication since 1980 when it first came out…. His view of American history…has become the dominant one.”

I asked her if there is a link between Zinn’s teachings and the mobs in the streets tearing down historical statues related to American history. She answered “Absolutely.” She noted that readers of Zinn tend to “get this very jaundiced picture of the founders, of Christopher Columbus. These people are presented as enslavers, committing genocide.”

For example, in her chapter, “Columbus Bad, Indians Good,” Grabar states, “Zinn was instrumental in the sea change that has transformed Columbus from the discoverer of America into the genocidal villain whose murder and enslavement of the Indians is the original sin that makes America a crime.”

Zinn leaves out such facts as the explorer’s log entry for October 12, 1492: “I warned my men to take nothing from the people without giving something in exchange.”

Graber told me: “It’s all done through lies about American history. Very little of it is accurate, so there’s this false picture of the people we have justly honored.”

Graber continued, “We have generations of people who have grown up disillusioned with this country—thinking there is something better off on the horizon. And what they think is better is socialism.” And Zinn deserves a great deal of the credit—or rather, blame—for that.

This is all astounding when you think about it. Zinn was a propagandist for the Communists, who were guilty of far worse atrocities than the men and women who founded America. The records are not comparable.

A couple of disillusioned former communists summarized the legacy of seven decades of the atheistic U.S.S.R. in one phrase: “tens of millions of corpses.” And yet Zinn continues to poison the minds of millions of Americans against our country.

This reminds me of the famous quip from Ronald Reagan: “The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

What is America in its essence? Very simply this: self-rule under God. Both of those phrases are necessary for a free and prosperous future for our country. May God spare us from the propagandists who withhold that information from present and future generations.

All Electric Car Scam

The government drive to force auto manufacturers to produce uneconomical and unreliable as well as totally inefficient electronic cars is a scam. It’s not an error, however, it is their intent.

The analyses in the column are spot on, but the author refuses to look the issue square in the actual intent.

The public at large will be denied any “right” to private transportation.

A public at large and free to roam the country is anathema to the Bolshevik ideal. The public is to be wired into high density dwellings (not privately owned individual homes) and will either bike to work or take public transportation. Privately owned vehicles will be a thing of the past, and electric vehicles will be doled out on a parity basis for members of the party in good standing, and the models according to position. Gasoline vehicles will exist at the party’s permission to do essential work for farms, factories, aircraft, and train locomotives.

George Orwell knew whereof he wrote.

The book 1984 was supposed to be a warning (like Mein Kampf) but the people read it and said, that’s preposterous, never happen to a modern, civilized people.

And yet, here we are.

Don’t Sell Your Gas Vehicle Just Yet—The Electric Vehicle Scam

Dr. Jay Lehr and Tom Harris | Mar 15, 2022

The utility companies have thus far had little to say about the alarming cost projections to operate electric vehicles (EVs) or the increased rates that they will be required to charge their customers. It is not just the total amount of electricity required, but the transmission lines and fast charging capacity that must be built at existing filling stations. Neither wind nor solar can support any of it. Electric vehicles will never become the mainstream of transportation!

The problems with electric vehicles (EVs), we showed that they were too expensive, too unreliable, rely on materials mined in China and other unfriendly countries, and require more electricity than the nation can afford. In this second part, we address other factors that will make any sensible reader avoid EVs like the plague.

EV Charging Insanity

In order to match the 2,000 cars that a typical filling station can service in a busy 12 hours, an EV charging station would require 600, 50-watt chargers at an estimated cost of $24 million and a supply of 30 megawatts of power from the grid. That is enough to power 20,000 homes. No one likely thinks about the fact that it can take 30 minutes to 8 hours to recharge a vehicle between empty or just topping off. What are the drivers doing during that time?
ICSC-Canada board member New Zealand-based consulting engineer Bryan Leyland describes why installing electric car charging stations in a city is impractical:

“If you’ve got cars coming into a petrol station, they would stay for an average of five minutes. If you’ve got cars coming into an electric charging station, they would be at least 30 minutes, possibly an hour, but let’s say its 30 minutes. So that’s six times the surface area to park the cars while they’re being charged. So, multiply every petrol station in a city by six. Where are you going to find the place to put them?”

The government of the United Kingdom is already starting to plan for power shortages caused by the charging of thousands of EVs. Starting in June 2022, the government will restrict the time of day you can charge your EV battery. To do this, they will employ smart meters that are programmed to automatically switch off EV charging in peak times to avoid potential blackouts.

In particular, the latest UK chargers will be pre-set to not function during 9-hours of peak loads, from 8 am to 11 am (3-hours), and 4 pm to 10 pm (6-hours). Unbelievably, the UK technology decides when and if an EV can be charged, and even allows EV batteries to be drained into the UK grid if required. Imagine charging your car all night only to discover in the morning that your battery is flat since the state took the power back. Better keep your gas-powered car as a reliable and immediately available backup! While EV charging will be an attractive source of revenue generation for the government, American citizens will be up in arms.

Used Car Market

The average used EV will need a new battery before an owner can sell it, pricing them well above used internal combustion cars. The average age of an American car on the road is 12 years. A 12-year-old EV will be on its third battery. A Tesla battery typically costs $10,000 so there will not be many 12-year-old EVs on the road. Good luck trying to sell your used green fairy tale electric car!

Tuomas Katainen, an enterprising Finish Tesla owner, had an imaginative solution to the battery replacement problem—he blew up his car! New York City-based Insider magazine reported (December 27, 2021 ):

“The shop told him the faulty battery needed to be replaced, at a cost of about $22,000. In addition to the hefty fee, the work would need to be authorized by Tesla…Rather than shell out half the cost of a new Tesla to fix an old one, Katainen decided to do something different… The demolition experts from the YouTube channel Pommijätkät (Bomb Dudes) strapped 66 pounds of high explosives to the car and surrounded the area with slow-motion cameras…the 14 hotdog-shaped charges erupt into a blinding ball of fire, sending a massive shock wave rippling out from the car…The videos of the explosion have a combined 5 million views.”

We understand that the standard Tesla warranty does not cover “damage resulting from intentional actions,” like blowing the car up for a YouTube video.

EVs Per Block In Your Neighborhood

A home charging system for a Tesla requires a 75-amp service. The average house is equipped with 100-amp service. On most suburban streets the electrical infrastructure would be unable to carry more than three houses with a single Tesla. For half the homes on your block to have electric vehicles, the system would be wildly overloaded.
Batteries.

Although the modern lithium-ion battery is four times better than the old lead-acid battery, gasoline holds 80 times the energy density. The great lithium battery in your cell phone weighs less than an ounce while the Tesla battery weighs 1,000 pounds. And what do we get for this huge cost and weight? We get a car that is far less convenient and less useful than cars powered by internal combustion engines.

Bryan Leyland explained why: “When the Model T came out, it was a dramatic improvement on the horse and cart. The electric car is a step backward into the equivalence of an ordinary car with a tiny petrol tank that takes half an hour to fill It offers nothing in the way of convenience or extra facilities.”

Our Conclusion

The electric automobile will always be around in a niche market likely never exceeding 10% of the cars on the road. All automobile manufacturers are investing in their output and all will be disappointed in their sales. Perhaps they know this and will manufacture just what they know they can sell. This is certainly not what President Biden or California Governor Newsom are planning for. However, for as long as the present government is in power, they will be pushing the electric car as another means to run our lives.

Dr. Jay Lehr is a Senior Policy Analyst with the International Climate Science Coalition and former Science Director of The Heartland Institute. He is an internationally renowned scientist, author, and speaker.

Tom Harris is Executive Director of the Ottawa, Canada-based International Climate Science Coalition, and a policy advisor to The Heartland Institute.

You do not need to have an advanced degree in mathematics to understand the term “Overload”! The average person, no matter where you live, can quickly identify the political feel-good sensation that is being attempted by those short-sighted individuals who are promoting the EV revolution….Vehicle manufacturers, Charging station builders, Transmission Line contractors, Battery producers….etc. i.e. Everyone that has their hands out for a government subsidy (i.e. your tax money).

“It’s Magic”….and you are saving the planet by creating less pollution as you get rid of your gas burning vehicle and take out a five-year loan to pay for the shiny new $60,000 electric car. No more fill-ups at the service station and the global warming is solved. You can now sit back and imagine the new polar ice formations that are providing a safe environment for the Polar Bears, Seals, Penguins that we all adore. We have done our part saving humanity…..and you can see the smile on little Greta Thunberg’s face!

BUT WAIT….why are we losing power at our house?

Well the short answer is….We failed to understand that our electrical grid reached max capacity and was overloaded when all of the EV’s were plugged in tonight at the same time. The next short answer is…..where do you think the energy came from to supply the grid in the first place? It sure was not from Wind or Solar….nor from any other alternate energy source we use which, when all combined, only provides 7% of today’s use demand. It was from the traditional combustible resource called Hydrocarbons!

Until we discover a non-hydrocarbon energy source that is efficient and safe, GET OVER IT …. Like it or not, we are committed to Oil & Gas!

Let Them Eat Bugs

I’ve said many times the keepers of the phony climate change narrative want you to be poor and, today, I’m going to prove it.

First, they want you to stop eating meat and start eating bugs.  Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey, Jr. are among the celebrities telling you to make the switch.  A big marketing, branding, and image campaign is underway to get you to eat bugs.  PBS is part of the effort, with programming designed to convince you insects are tasty and eating them will fight climate change.  One company’s pitch is that caterpillars are a healthier option than steak.  You might want to check your food labels, because it’s already happening.  Hope you’re not allergic.

An agribusiness giant is developing the world’s largest fly factory in my hometown in Illinois. The insect products are meant for animal and fish feed, but also for human consumption.  As with PBS, this wouldn’t be happening without government subsidies.

It’s no accident the campaign to get you to eat bugs has begun at the same time a war on agriculture has started in several countries.  In the Netherlands, the government has cut the amount of fertilizer allowed in full recognition that some farmers will go out of business.  Dutch farmers have mounted large-scale protests, as a result.  Trudeau is pursuing the same plan in Canada.  Sri Lanka tried the same trick previously, only to have food prices skyrocket, bringing down the government.  But look for the war on agriculture to continue.  The UN told the truth in its magazine in 2008: it wants you to be hungry.  “Hunger has great positive value to many people. Indeed, it is fundamental to the working of the world’s economy. Hungry people are the most productive people..,” the article said.  Eat bugs and be happy.  The UN pulled the article off its website last month, claiming it was satire.  Sure.

It’s not only food. The curtain has finally been pulled back on the climate authoritarians’ true plans for the automobile.  Forget EVs.  It’s better you have no car at all, according to the World Economic Forum.  Private car ownership is “wasteful”, they say.  Never mind what you want.  Your desire for freedom and mobility doesn’t matter at all to these people.  They want you stacked and packed in densely populated cities where all you need is Uber and public transit.  To make that happen, they plan to turn great swathes of the country into no-go zones. Their 30 x 30 and 50 x 50 plans will lock up half the land mass of the United States under government ownership.  No joke, this is not speculation.  These plans are out there for all to see, and the climate authoritarians are pushing them hard, now.

It’s no accident our Energy Secretary is cheering record high gasoline prices.  It’s so historic, she says. The green energy transition can’t come fast enough so you will be poor, stuck in one place, and easier to control.  That’s what the climate authoritarians live for.

So, second, no more cars.  Third, you may have heard green energy is unreliable – it doesn’t happen when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.  That’s not a defect.  That’s the whole point.  Government officials are deliberately trying to destroy our energy supplies with their wars on coal and oil & gas development and replacing them with toys.  You might think Biden and the rest are merely delusional.  I’m not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.  I think they hate us and want to control us.  If they can’t control us, they’ll try to destroy us.  It’s what the Left does. Read the history of the Left on this point and weep.

Our would-be overlords want you to be poor, but they have no intention of living by the same rules.  Look at Taylor Swift.  She was just named worst CO2 polluter of the year.  Her defense?  She didn’t make all those trips on her private jet herself.  She loaned the jet out to her friends and that makes it all better.  Do you see it, yet?  She and her friends have no intention of eating bugs, doing without their cars and jets, or being poor.  But these authoritarian creeps want to make it so you have no choice.

FLORIDA: It Took Over 6-Years and 9 Months to Bring to Trial a Teacher Accused of Being a Sexual Predator. Why?

When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.” ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

“Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” ― Robert F. Kennedy

Many are questioning if our criminal justice systems are working properly and we are insuring that those accused of a crime are brought to trial quickly.  One Florida case caught our attention after a reader contacted us.

We were recently made aware of the criminal trial of Jason Edward Meyers in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Meyers is a former Palmetto High School teacher who is accused of 3 counts of felony sexual battery upon young girls, who were his students, in April of 2014.

Meyers is still walking the streets of Miami-Dade County on his own recognizance. To date there have been 572 docket hearings on the Meyers case. Unbelievable. If we can’t bring someone accused of sexual battery to trial what does that say about our criminal justice system?

We thought that justice must be swift in order to be effective in deterring crime.

We were wrong when it comes to Miami-Dade County. It seems justice is slow and favors the alleged perpetrator rather than his victim or victims

Jason Edward Meyers was originally appeared in court on a bond hearing on February 19th, 2016 (see the details of State Case No.: 132016CF0034080001XX below).

According to the Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Courts Meyers is now scheduled for a trial hearing on November 28th, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. (see Meyers, Jason Edward case file below). That is 6 years and 9 months after the alleged crime of sexual battery upon a young girls.

South Florida’s NBC Channel 6 reported on April 12th, 2021,

In 2016, a young woman told police Jason Meyers had sex with her when she was a student at Palmetto Senior High. She was 17 years old at the time.

It has been more than five years since former Miami-Dade schools teacher Jason Meyers was arrested and accused of having sex with an underage student.

But he has not faced a jury yet. His trial was rescheduled again Monday.

Months ago, NBC 6 Investigators spoke exclusively with the young woman prosecutors identified as his victim. We will refer to her as Luisa.

Luisa shared with NBC 6 the statement she has been waiting to read in court for years.

“You took advantage that I was a lost girl,” the statement read. “I quickly remind myself the only reality here is that you abused me and it was premeditated.”

In 2016, she told police Meyers had sex with her when she was a student at Palmetto Senior High. She was 17 years old at the time.

Luisa said it happened inside his classroom.

[ … ]

Meyer’s trial is now set for July [2021].

Michael A. Mora from ALMLaw.com reported,

A jury awarded the client of two South Florida attorneys a multimillion-dollar verdict in federal court in Miami, validating their litigation strategy.

And part of that strategy involved Mark A. Schweikert and Jason B. Sherry, solo practitioners based in Miami, putting client Jane Doe—one of the students who alleged a former Miami Palmetto Senior High teacher sexually abused her—on the stand for emotional testimony.

“I told her that, to be truthful above all else,” Mark A. Schweikert said to his client before she took the stand, adding that through the course of questioning, “you would see that emotion bubble up within her.”

We believe that Luisa and all others who have been molested by their teachers need their day in court to bring themselves closure. Telling their story to a jury has an impact and if convicted Meyers actions will have far reaching effects.

American transcendentalist and reforming minister of the Unitarian Church Theodore Parker wrote, The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.

We agree. Until justice is served none of us are safe.

VIDEOS: Florida Governor DeSantis says Gender Affirming Care ‘Wrong’ and Floridians should Sue Doctors who Castrate Young Boys

We are seeing at least one governor who is fighting back against the “queering” of America’s children. His name is Ron DeSantis, the governor of the Sunshine State.

He has:

  1. Signed legislation to keep sex out of K-3 public school classrooms.
  2. Taken on Disney on their attempts to groom children for sex.
  3. Taken on teachers unions who want to queer pubic school classroom with gender ideology.
  4. Refused to cow tow to Biden on his policies and mandates.
  5. Defended parents and protected Florida’s children.
  6. Removed mathematics books that teach CRT and push social agendas rather than teach mathematics. See teaching Queer Mathematics.

Now Governor DeSantis is taking a stand against gender affirming care and the castration of young boys.

DeSantis: Gender Affirming Care for Young Children Is ‘Wrong’

DeSantis: SUE Doctors who Castrate Young Boys

We fully agree that this national effort to queer our underaged children is both wrong and is child abuse. Those who do it from the public school house to the White House must be held accountable.

LOL: WH Press Sec Jean-Pierre Calls Roe v. Wade Reversal ‘Unconstitutional’

White House press propagandist Karine Jean-Pierre rightly took heat Wednesday on social media after she claimed that the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade was an “unconstitutional action.”

“From day one, when the Supreme Court made this extreme decision to take away a constitutional right, it was an unconstitutional action by them,” she said.

She then described abortion as “a right that was around for almost 50 years,” as well as “a right that women had to make a decision on their bodies and how they want to start their families.”

Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) press secretary Abigail Marone commented on the White House press secretary’s incompetence, tweeting, “It honestly feels cruel to put her on the podium and make her answer questions each day.”

Telegraph contributor Nile Gardiner described Jean-Pierre’s statement as “Truly Orwellian disinformation from the Biden White House.”

The Heritage Foundation’s John Cooper seemed perplexed, tweeting, “Karine Jean-Pierre just said the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling was ‘unconstitutional,’ which is certainly a…unique take.”

Conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong pulled no punches, writing, “That KJP is a moron isn’t a secret. It’s on full display.”

Accusing Republicans of Lying about Critical Race Theory

After Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat Terry McAuliffe in a stunning upset in the Virginia gubernatorial election of November 2021 – an outcome that was at least partially attributable to Republicans hammering away at Democrats for supporting the teaching of the tenets of Critical Race Theory (CRT) to schoolchildren — Jean-Pierre attacked Republicans. At a press briefing on November 4, she said: “Republicans are lying. They’re not being honest. They’re not being truthful about where we [Democrats] stand [regarding CRT]. And they’re … cynically trying to use our kids as a political football. They’re talking about our kids … when it’s election season, but they won’t vote for them when it matters.”

Education Consulting Firm Seeks to Promote ‘Queer Mathematics’ in K-12 Schools

An education consulting firm seeks to promote “Queer Mathematics” in K-12 education.

By: Breitbart News, August 2022:

A leftist organization called “The Queer Mathematics Teacher” is seeking to embed gender theory in K-12 math classes.

Brandie Waid, the director of The Queer Mathematics Teacher, laid out a plan for incorporating gender theory into math classes in a blog post on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) website. CASEL is sponsored by the Allstate Foundation.

The Queer Mathematics Teacher is an educational consulting firm that seeks to promote “queer mathematics” in American K-12 classrooms. The firm sells a book titled “Talking about LGBTQ+ Identity,” which includes chapters titled “The Gender Unicorn,” “How Do I Talk About LGBTQ+ Identity With My Students,” and “What if I Receive Pushback?”

The firm also offers coaching services to teachers, which include curriculum design, district-wide audits, and professional development workshops. The site claims, “The ability to consider sexuality irrelevant in the mathematics context is a heteronormatively privileged position” and notes that some areas of expertise include “queer pedagogy,” “teaching mathematics for social justice,” “Fostering Students’ Growth Mindset (While Advocating for Systemic Change),” and “humanizing Mathematics Education for LGBTQ+ Students.”

Waid confesses in her article that math used to be a source of anxiety for her, which she links with her sexuality. She writes, “I associated mathematics with profound anxiety, intricately tied to my fears of confronting my queer identity.”

Waid also argues, “Something about mathematics is failing to instill a sense of belonging that draws 2SLGBTQIA+ students to and keeps them in the field,” adding, “How can we cultivate mathematical spaces where 2SLGBTQIA+ students feel affirmed in their queer identity and thrive personally and mathematically?”

Waid, who refers to herself as a “queer Latinx independent math coach and activist scholar,” also criticizes legislatures that have responded to parents’ calls to combat the presence of progressive ideology, writing, “With recent legislative attacks on CRT, social and emotional learning, and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, centering thriving and humanness in our everyday practice is urgent.”

The left-wing activist even goes so far as to suggest that activist educators should teach critical race theory and gender theory, even if it means breaking the law. Waid writes, “I implore my colleagues to ask: How can we work within (or outside) the confines of these laws to center Transformative SEL and student thriving in our teaching?”

Waid also provides educator-activists with a number of activities that can be used to implement gender theory in math classes. One such activity focuses on the thoroughly debunked wage-gap myth and is called “An Intersectional Look at the Gender Pay Gap.”

The lesson, which is intended for math classes, asks students questions like “What genders are represented?,” “What other genders are there?,” and even “What would considering other gender identities add to our understanding?” The notes for teachers portion of the activity reminds educator-activists that “students may need additional support in LGBTQ+ terminology.”

One lesson, called “Progress Pride Flag,” is intended for elementary school children. It showcases a pride flag featuring a triangle with black, brown, and other colors that represent the transgender movement and suggests that educator-activists ask students questions like “What does this symbol represent?”

Another lesson plan, intended for middle school students and titled “Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation by Generation,” asks children to speculate as to why there has been an increase in LGBT self-identification among younger generations.

Soros, Biden Spearhead Efforts Against Election Integrity Ahead of Midterms

George Soros should be banned from the U.S.. We must pass a “Stop Soros” bill like Hungary did. Soros presents a grave dangerous to the democratic process.

Biden, Soros spearhead efforts against election integrity ahead of midterms

A proposed constitutional amendment in Michigan by a Soros-funded group would prevent both strict voter ID requirement and a ban on private donations to election officials from being enacted.

By Natalia Mittelstadt, Just The News, August 2, 2022:

While federal agencies under the Biden administration are seeking to increase voter registration and turnout, a group linked to left-wing megadonor George Soros is pushing for a constitutional amendment in the battleground state of Michigan that would allow Zuckerbucks to be used in election administration.

Biden issued an executive order to all federal agencies in March 2021, instructing them to send him “a strategic plan outlining the ways identified under this review that the agency can promote voter registration and voter participation.”

The order gave agency heads 200 days to determine how their public services could be used as voter registration agencies, and directed them to notify the states in which their agencies provide such services that they “would agree to designation as a voter registration agency.”

Earlier this year, departments such as Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, and Labor turned their assisted housing centers, public health centers, and American Job Centers, respectively, into voter registration agencies.

Federal agencies participating in voter turnout efforts “is wrong” because they will target who they want to turn out to vote, “and government can’t be engaged in that process” because it’s “partisan politics,” Phill Kline, director of The Amistad Project, told Just the News.

Meanwhile, with midterm elections approaching in November, a left-leaning organization called Promote the Vote submitted nearly 670,000 voter signatures — more than the roughly 425,000 required — for a new Michigan constitutional amendment to be placed on the ballot in the November election.

The amendment would “require state-funded postage for absentee applications and ballots”; “require state-funded absentee-ballot drop boxes”; allow voters to be sent an absentee ballot for every election by requesting it on an absentee ballot application; and “require 9 days of early in-person voting.”

It would also prevent enactment of both strict voter ID requirements and a ban on private donations to election officials, following approval of such safeguards by the Michigan Legislature before the legislation was vetoed by the governor.

Michigan currently doesn’t allow early voting, but requires election officials to accept, in at least one location, absentee ballots during business hours and for at least eight hours on the Saturday and/or Sunday prior to an election, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The signatures submitted by Promote the Vote must be reviewed by the Board of State Canvassers to determine the petition’s validity before certifying the petition and placing the amendment on the ballot, with the deadline to do so being two months prior to the November election.

Soros gave nearly $10 million in 2019 to the Sixteen Thirty Fund, which gave $250,000 to Promote the Vote in 2018.

The left has “become very supportive and open to billionaires” influencing U.S. elections, Kline said Tuesday. He argued this is dangerous to the democratic process, as candidates receiving funding from Soros would be beholden to him, and that “unless action is taken, we’ll reach a crisis where Americans no longer have faith in elections.”

The left, he added, is “trying to enshrine in law all the problems in the 2020 election” because its focus is not on “running the government objectively, but obtaining power.”

The Democrat Economists in Charge of Deciding ‘If’ There’s a Recession

Why the Biden administration wants the “experts” to determine if there’s a recession.

Facebook is now censoring posts and videos about the Biden recession by using partisan fact-checks from left-leaning outlets to wrongly condemn them as “misinformation”.

The fact checks rely on the same argument being propounded by the Biden administration and its media allies that only the National Bureau of Economic Research and, more specifically, its Business Cycle Dating Committee, can officially decide if there’s a recession.

And anyone who isn’t on the Committee talking about a recession is spreading “misinformation”.

That’s an obvious problem because 2 out of 3 American voters, including even 53% of Democrats, believe that there’s a recession. That’s a whole lot of people to censor.

Totalitarian Communist regimes in Russia and China have criminalized discussions about domestic economic problems, and the American Left is trying to deploy its propaganda machine of partisan media outlets, fact checkers and Big Tech monopolies to duplicate their efforts.

It’s bound to fail.

Declaring that only a small group of “experts” is allowed to call it a recession despite the fact that two consecutive quarters of a shrinking economy is the definition of a recession is a gatekeeping fallacy.

And the experts are hardly any more objective than the fact checkers citing them.

Peter Blair Henry, the current vice chair of the National Bureau of Economic Research, was the head of the Obama campaign’s economics advisory team and then served on his transition team. And Henry has promoted Biden’s disastrous inflationary “Build Back Better” plan.

Of the eight economists on the Business Cycle Dating Committee, the team that the White House and the media insist are the only ones who get to decide if it’s a recession, several held posts in the Obama administration, and others were clearly aligned with the Democrats.

Christina and David Romer, a husband and wife team, already an innate conflict of interest, were described as “staunch Obama supporters” in an IMF profile. Romer had provided “briefing memos” to Austan Goolsbee, Obama’s radical economic adviser, during the campaign, and she went on to chair Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers. In that role, she aggressively pushed for an even bigger “stimulus package” than the one that damaged the economy under Obama.

Robert J. Gordon compared Trump to Hitler and declared that he would miss Obama’s “eloquence”. He claims that America’s growth is over and proposes a program of a “progressive tax code”, eliminating deductions, legalizing drugs, and providing a lot more welfare.

Gordon had joined lefty economists in arguing that the era of permanent economic malaise was upon us. During the 2016 election, his “The Rise and Fall of American Growth” was frequently cited as expert evidence that serious GDP growth of the kind Trump was urging was impossible.

The economist, or someone by that name from his university, appears to be a donor to Democrat candidates, the DNC and at least one anti-Republican PAC.

Gordon was also a signatory to an open letter titled, “Economists Oppose Trump’s Re-Election”.

The pro-Biden and anti-Trump letter included the contention that Trump “claimed to have the unique ability to generate growth (in real GDP) of between 4% and 6%, but never surpassed 2.9% in his first three years in office. Furthermore, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Moody’s Analytics have projected that Joe Biden’s economic plans, if implemented, would actually generate faster growth in both employment and real GDP.”

Gordon, along with other lefty academics, was expressing a political preference for Biden over Trump while claiming that this position was backed up by their “expert” opinion.

Biden’s economic plans led to a massive disaster, but there’s no reason to think that Gordon or any of the other economists involved in this letter are ready to admit that they were wrong.

And that Biden has inflicted a recession on America.

Another of the members of the Business Cycle Dating Committee who also signed the anti-Trump and pro-Biden letter is Mark Watson of Princeton. Watson was also the co-author of an infamous argument claiming that the economy performs better under Democrat presidents.

His work was cited by Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers co-authored together with James Stock, a member of the council who serves as another member of the Business Cycle Dating Committee.

Obama had appointed Stock to his Council of Economic Advisers in 2013. Stock was both an Obama and a Hillary donor. He also contributed $2,800, close to the maximum, to Biden.

The political conflict of interest in determining that the economy is in recession is obvious.

Of the remaining Business Cycle Dating Committee members, Robert Hall appears to have donated to a Democrat candidate. James Poterba had vocally praised Obama’s economic council members, calling them  “realists and pragmatists who are looking for what will work to address the particular problems we are facing”.

What that means is that of the eight Business Cycle Dating Committee members, a quarter are former members of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, half are public Obama supporters, one is a Biden donor, two have expressed public opposition to Trump and support for Biden.

This group of experts is anything but non-partisan and the lean is anything but conservative.

It’s fair to say that 6 of the 8 Business Cycle Dating Committee are either Democrats or aligned with Democrats. Another is ambiguous and only one has expressed no recent public political preference.

It’s obvious why the Biden administration is betting that a group stocked with its own political allies will be less likely to state the obvious about the state of the economy. Democrats, their media and their tech monopolies are using expert gatekeeping by their own allies to deny that there’s a recession even though the vast majority of Americans know that it’s already here.

It doesn’t take the Business Cycle Dating Committee to state the obvious. All it can do is stonewall what everyone can see around them. Beyond their political allegiances, many members of the Committee have a history of being fundamentally wrong about the economic measures of the Obama and Trump administrations. Many supported the Obama era inflationary spending that deepened our national debt and suppressed our economic potential.

There’s no reason to think they’ve learned to be any more correct or any less biased.

The new technocratic totalitarianism insists that the nature of reality is controlled by small groups of partisan handpicked experts and that ordinary people have no right to disagree, and that furthermore it is the job of the tech monopolies who control the marketplace of ideas to immediately stamp out such dissent as “disinformation” and a “threat to democracy”.

But reality isn’t controlled by experts and the efforts by the Biden administration to build a wall of experts around reality is as doomed to failure as similar measures in totalitarian states.

After first denying the reality of inflation, the Biden administration is trying to deny the recession.

The same experts who tried to deny the disastrous effects of Obama’s economy are trying to tell the same lies for Biden. But no amount of lies will turn a recession into a recovery.

When Joe Caved to Joe: The Real Manchin Con

Upset and disappointed, many felt betrayed when Senator Joe Manchin cut a deal with ultra-left-wing colleague Chuck Schumer and created the laughably named “Inflation Reduction Act.” Yet anyone thus aggrieved should consider a simple fact: As of June 2 of last year, Manchin had voted with Joe Biden 100 percent of the time.

That’s 100 percent — as in voting with Nancy Pelosi every time.

And he has voted with the Democrats over his career’s course approximately 80 percent of the time.

Oh, don’t be surprised. Here’s the reality: No matter how conservative or liberal a politician seems on the campaign trail, no matter compelling his rhetoric, no matter how outside-the-box he appears, he’ll virtually always vote with his party the vast majority of the time. (This is especially true of Democrats.)

To further illustrate the point, question: Who now is probably the most loathed GOP politician by the Republican base, the one most likely to be primaried? If you answered Rep. Liz Cheney, I agree. But note:

She voted with President Trump 93 percent of the time.

Really.

This isn’t to say she isn’t stomach-turningly perfidious or that she shouldn’t be kicked to the curb. She should. But before I get to what I am saying, let’s look at some more RINOs and their voting records.

Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) voted with Trump 81 percent of the time.

Senator Susan Collins (R-Me.) voted with Trump 67 percent of the time.

Rep. Adam “Crocodile Tears” Kinzinger voted with Trump approximately 90 percent of the time. (Note: Of late, he has been supporting much of Biden’s agenda.)

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Ala.) voted with Trump 72.6 percent of the time.

These are just about the worst the GOP has to offer, too — and they still vote more sanely than Mountain Mama’ Manchin.

Oh, this isn’t to say they’re better people; about that, I’ve no idea (Kinzinger could be a sociopath). But the point is that politicians belong to a party for reasons. First, a party offers reelection support — which they likely won’t get if they vote against their party’s agenda more than their state’s consensus ideology dictates they must. (E.g., no one expects a W. Va. senator to survive in office if he votes like Florida’s Donna Shalala.)

Second, though politicians typically aren’t fonts of principle, they generally choose one major party over the other because their passions largely align with its platform.

So the point is this: Some voters will say, “I vote for the person, not the party,” but that’s only what they think. In the most important sense, they’re voting for the party no matter the person because they’re delivering another reliable vote for his party.

This isn’t to say that, for example, every Republican politician is the same; there’s a marked difference between someone who supports the party 100 percent of the time and one who does so 67 percent of the time. It is to say that there’s an even bigger difference between that Republican who supports Democrats 33 percent of the time and a Democrat that supports them 80 percent of the time. (And a W.Va. Republican would likely be down around zero percent.)

So it doesn’t matter if you’re in W.Va., Utah, Indiana or somewhere else; understand that if you vote for a Manchin or any other Democrat, you’re voting by and large for the Democrat agenda. This is ever and always true, 100 percent of the time, no matter how “conservative” the candidate sounds.

Of course, if you like the Democrat agenda minus its radical elements and think a Manchin will deliver that, perhaps he’s your man, and do then remember to vote on November 9. (Though, in reality, delivering on the Democrat agenda minus its destructively radical elements would require voting against it 99 percent of the time.)

So the actual Manchin con doesn’t really concern his deal with Schumer; it doesn’t even concern anything effected mainly by Manchin. It’s this: the most left-wing Democrats (Sandy Cortez and the Squad et al.) and mainstream media squealing about how he’s really a Republican when he bucks them on some radical legislation — and elated but naïve Republicans chiming in and heroizing him — and all of them together effecting the illusion that he really is, in practice, a “moderate” or “conservative” Democrat.

Then the good people of W.Va. can vote for Manchin the next time around, secure in the illusion that he’s like their granddaddy’s Democrat — and oblivious to how they’re electing an 80-percent Pelosi.
