Microsoft Stops Discriminating Against Conservatives

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Microsoft has stopped systematically excluding conservative nonprofits from its corporate generosity program, the Daily Signal has learned.

The tech giant—the fourth-largest company in the world by market capitalization—has directed its corporate generosity platform, Benevity, to stop relying on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate map” to filter out nonprofits. Critics say the SPLC unfairly condemns mainstream conservative and Christian nonprofits by putting them on this map with chapters of the Ku Klux Klan. The SPLC maintains that these nonprofits vilify people typically for their immutable characteristics.

“Microsoft’s decision is a major victory against ideological blacklisting in employee gift-matching programs and an important win for conservative and religious organizations,” Tim Schwarzenberger, director of corporate engagement at Inspire Investing, told the Daily Signal in a statement Tuesday.

According to a report exclusively provided first to the Daily Signal, Microsoft disclosed the move away from the SPLC in response to a shareholder proposal.

Inspire Investing, a Christian financial adviser that focuses on “Biblically Responsible Investing,” had filed a shareholder proposal asking Microsoft to evaluate the risks associated with excluding religious organizations from its employee gift-matching program and the use of third-party ideological screening.

“During engagement, Microsoft confirmed that it had removed the SPLC filter from its Benevity platform in late 2025,” the report states. “As a result, otherwise eligible IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organizations are no longer subject to that additional ideological screening within Microsoft’s employee gift-matching program.”

SPLC Backlash

The SPLC publishes a “hate map” that critics say conflates mainstream conservative and Christian organizations with genuinely extremist groups. Critics note the map includes Moms for Liberty, Alliance Defending Freedom, and Focus on the Family.

In 2012, a since-convicted terrorist told the FBI he used the SPLC’s map to target the Family Research Council in an attempted mass shooting. The SPLC condemned the attack but kept the council on the map.

FBI Director Kash Patel officially cut the bureau’s ties with the SPLC following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

In April, a federal grand jury indicted the SPLC for wire fraud and bank fraud for allegedly funneling money to Klan members, propping up the hate threat in order to raise money by claiming to oppose it. The SPLC says the payments involved informants identifying threats, but prosecutors dispute that claim.

1792 Exchange, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing ideological balance back to public companies, and Alliance Defending Freedom called on corporate generosity platforms to stop using the SPLC.

The Daily Signal reached out to the SPLC for comment but did not receive a response by publication time.

What Is Benevity?

Corporate generosity platforms such as Benevity connect employers to a host of nonprofits. Benevity connects “nearly 1,000 enterprise companies” to a network of 513,000 nonprofits. Benevity acknowledged in 2021 that it uses the SPLC to vet almost “2 million nonprofits.”

Benevity maintains that the SPLC “hate map” is an optional filter, not a default setting.

Thanks to shareholder activism from 1792 Exchange, Bowyer Research, The Heritage Foundation, and others, a growing list of companies has directed Benevity to stop using the SPLC. The list includes American Express, AT&T, Mastercard, McDonald’s, Nvidia, and Salesforce.

Companies use other corporate generosity programs as well and have directed them to stop using the SPLC list.

DoorDash directed the platform Deed to stop using the SPLC for this purpose. Verizon directed CyberGrants, another such platform, to stop using the SPLC for its employee giving.

The Daily Signal reached out to Benevity for comment but did not receive a response by publication time.

Implications of Microsoft’s Decision

Schwarzenberger, the Inspire Investing director, told the Daily Signal that Microsoft’s decision “demonstrates that even one of the world’s largest companies can administer its employee gift-matching program using objective charitable standards without relying on additional ideological screening imposed by outside advocacy organizations.”

He also noted that Microsoft is “part of a broader trend we’ve seen across corporate America as companies reevaluate employee gift matching, strengthen charitable neutrality, and give employees greater freedom to support lawful IRS-recognized charities consistent with their convictions.”

This trend “has the potential to redirect millions of dollars in matching gifts to otherwise eligible charitable organizations that may have previously been excluded under additional ideological screening criteria.”

Schwarzenberger said he hopes Microsoft’s “leadership encourages others across corporate America to do the same.”

The Daily Signal reached out to Microsoft for comment but did not receive a response by publication time.

Huckabee: Americans Fail to Grasp the Threat of Iran

Conflict between Iran and the U.S. has resumed, despite the efforts of President Donald Trump to secure peace in the troubled region. According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the U.S. military conducted “a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran” on Sunday, successfully striking “dozens” of targets. At issue is Iran’s continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for the shipment of oil globally. “The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade. Iran does not control it,” a statement from CENTCOM read. “U.S. forces are postured and prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation remains available to commercial shipping despite Iran’s continued unwarranted aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations.”

Over the past year, the U.S. involvement in the Middle East has largely centered on Iran’s threats against Israel. This time, however, Israel does not appear to be a party to the conflict, which, as U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee pointed out in an interview on “This Week on Capitol Hill” on Saturday, is probably a good thing. “Israel has not been engaged in it, and it’s probably smart that Iran does not fire missiles toward Israel because they would be compelled to fire them back,” Huckabee said, following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He also warned that Iran is more than just a threat to Israel, but also to the U.S.

“You have to separate Hezbollah from the mothership of Iran, and the reason that’s so important is because Iran has been supplying funds and weapons and strategy” to the Middle Eastern paramilitary organization, Huckabee said. He noted that cutting Iran off from Hezbollah would destabilize the latter and severely limit the threat that Hezbollah could pose. Furthermore, he pointed out that Hezbollah is active across the Western hemisphere and has actually killed more Americans than Israelis. “When the U.S. and people in America say, ‘Well, it doesn’t affect me,’ they have no idea what they’re talking about. Of course it affects them,” the ambassador insisted. “If you can step on the oxygen hose and keep Hezbollah from getting all of this oxygen from Iran, you do a lot to really upend terror…”

“One of the ways in which, again, Americans, I think, fail to grasp the threat of Iran — for 47 years they’ve been saying they’re going to kill us. Now, when people tell you that same thing over and over for that many years, you’re wise to believe them and you’re foolish to ignore them,” Huckabee added. He pointed out that recent reports from Israeli intelligence suggest that Iranian operatives inside the U.S. are plotting to assassinate the president.

On Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed that Iranian operatives are actively plotting to assassinate the president. “I won’t get into specific intelligence, but this regime — going all the way up to the Ayatollah — has plotted to kill President Trump for many years,” Waltz stated. “They have operatives here in the United States. Plots are ongoing. But our intelligence community, the FBI, our law enforcement entities are absolutely on top of it,” he added. “But make no mistake that the Iranian regime is trying to kill President Trump and those around him.”

According to Waltz, the Iranian regime is attempting to “use the global economy as some type of leverage” by blocking the Strait of Hormuz and preventing safe passage for commercial craft. “What Iran is doing is in violation of international law,” the ambassador said. “Regardless of whether you’re a party to some conflict, you cannot start shooting in all directions, attacking your neighbors, attacking civilian shipping, civilian infrastructure, throwing mines in international waterways, and acting like the irresponsible, genocidal regime that many have always accused it of being.” He noted that Iranian officials claimed that opening fire upon commercial ships over the weekend was a mistake, an error on the part of junior officers. However, Waltz questioned why those junior officers were not disciplined by a military regime renowned for dictatorial autocracy. He asked, “At the end of the day, where’s the discipline and the public apology if that’s the case?”

In the meantime, this growing divide on Israel here at home misses a fundamental point, Perkins insisted. “Israel is also, despite reports to the contrary, a stabilizing force in the Middle East. But what we see on the horizon with Iran as really kind of the strongman — or at least the big nuisance there in the Middle East being curtailed — that vacuum is going to be filled by someone, some country, some leader. I think Israel has the potential to be an even greater stabilizing force [when that happens],” he told Huckabee.

Perkins attributed the drift in the church away from Israel to “biblical illiteracy.” Huckabee agreed, reminding viewers that standing with Israel is “scriptural.” “I mean, I could give you a lot of geopolitical reasons. I could give you humanitarian reasons. I could give you historic reasons. I could give you economic reasons. And all of those are important, and all of them should weigh in,” the ambassador emphasized. “But the ultimate reason for evangelicals is because we’re people of the book.”

American Christians need to recognize “the important role that Israel plays [and] recognize Genesis 1:23 as a biblical mandate,” the ambassador said. “And some of it is the fear of some pulpits, [and] pastors who are afraid of their own congregations — afraid to offend them, afraid to upset them. But if you upset them because you’re preaching the Scripture, because you are faithfully delivering the Word of God, then you’re not in trouble in a bad way. If that gets you in trouble,” he insisted, “then you should be in trouble. The prophets of old were willing to get in trouble with the people, because they didn’t want to be in trouble with God. If that’s my choice, I’ll be in trouble with a congregation any day not to be in trouble with the Creator God of the universe,” Huckabee said.

Sacred Honor: The Declaration That Defines a Nation

Can America survive if the next generation meant to preserve it believes our best days are behind us? As the Daily Signal has worked on a special project for America’s 250th birthday, I’ve been fixating on this question and struggling to answer it.

But we might soon know the answer.

A recent study from Pew Research found that just 4 in 10 Americans ages 18 to 29 believe America’s best years are ahead of it.

I’ve always wondered what Pew or Gallup or other polls would have found if they existed in America’s founding era. What would the colonists have said on July 4, 1776, if asked if their best days were still ahead?

It’s very possible poll results in 1776 would look very similar to 2026 if the Founding Fathers’ letters serve as any indication. “Do you recollect the pensive and awful silence which pervaded the house when we were called up, one after another, to the table of the President of Congress, to subscribe what was believed by many at that time to be our own death warrants?” Benjamin Rush wrote in a July 1811 letter to John Adams.

Rush was just 30 years old when the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson, the document’s principal author, was 33. Several signers of the Declaration were younger than both.

With scant cause for optimism beyond hope in God’s providence, they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor in support of the Declaration and to one another. They picked up that quill and signed their own death warrants as the world’s greatest superpower prepared to invade.

Two hundred and fifty years later, America faces different yet very serious challenges. Our prosperity, liberties, and way of life are threatened from within and without.

We’re at an inflection point, but we don’t yet know if it is a peak or a valley. Our choices are social revival or socialist revolution. America’s Founding Fathers are not the only ones who prove the young are capable of immense political change. When they authored “The Communist Manifesto,” Karl Marx was 29 and Friedrich Engels was 27. Fidel Castro was 30 and Che Guevara was 27 when they led the Communist revolution in Cuba.

My generation must choose the way of the statesman or the socialist. The way of the socialist is easy. It unleashes the passions, encourages violence, inflates the ego, and relentlessly pursues power.

The way of the statesman is hard. It places prudence over passion, politics over violence, sacrifice over selfishness, and sublimates its power to God.

Before we can act as statesmen, we must first learn how to think like them. The Daily Signal is out with a new documentary that encourages viewers to think, and inspires them to act, like America’s Founding Fathers.

California Scheming? Golden State’s Glacial Vote Count Bolsters Case for SAVE America Act

The polls closed in California on Tuesday at 8 p.m. local time. As of Saturday, nobody knows which two candidates will be competing in November for governor or Los Angeles mayor.

Indeed, mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day may stumble in for seven days until June 9—and still be counted. Thus, weeks could pass before these major political contests are settled. Counties have until July 3 to report their official results to the secretary of state.

It was not always this way. By 5 a.m. on March 6, 2013, 100% of precincts had totaled the previous day’s ballots. Nine hours after voting ended, Angelenos knew the final two mayoral rivals. (Gil Garcetti prevailed.) As of Friday, only 71% of ballots had been tabulated in Los Angeles and just 68% statewide.

Escargot can count votes more swiftly than Californians. Pundit Nate Silver calls this “failed state shit.” He observed this week via X: “The fact that California elections often can’t be resolved for weeks is kind of insane and not common in other electoral systems around the world.”

Silver and Eli McKown-Dawson elaborated, “Colombia held a presidential election on Sunday [May 30], and 99.98% of the result was in on Monday morning. Japan also counts most of its votes overnight. And in the UK (not exactly a poster child for state capacity), you can generally expect to have calls for all 650 parliamentary seats the morning after the election.”

California Counts

President Donald Trump is not amused.

“The Dumocrats are at it again!” Trump roared Thursday via Truth Social. “They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES. Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS.”

Trump continued: “There’s BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California. Votes are all tied up. May not be in for weeks. Under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Why the vote counting DELAY???”

Trump echoes conservative complaints that GOP candidates in tight races too often triumph only on Election Night. Thanks to magic ballots, these Republicans wane, and the Democrats wax and then win. Magic ballots rarely favor Republicans.

Confidence Corrodes

Californians are experiencing either corruption or the appearance of corruption. Neither “I am being robbed” nor “I think I am being robbed” yields deep sleep. If Democrats are using this slovenly process to slouch toward a stuffed-ballot-box defeat of Steve Hilton, Spencer Pratt, or both, the perpetrators must be handcuffed at once.

But even if California’s count is purer than St. Francis of Assisi and merely looks crooked, millions of Americans will conclude that someone is cheating, and the entire system is rigged. Such suspicions corrode confidence in elections and the republic that they serve.

Winners easily respect their leaders and institutions, but even citizens who lose elections can accept opponents who succeed, fair and square.

But when voters feel cheated at the polls, then the whole structure starts to reek. “That’s not my mayor” and “That’s not my governor” become battle cries as America slides toward Civil War 2.0.

SAVE America Act

California’s pathetic performance offers yet another reason for the U.S. Senate to pry its collective butt out of the proverbial Barcalounger and pass the SAVE America Act already.

Catapulting mass mail-in ballots atop the ash heap of history and limiting them to the sick, the infirm, and those absent on Election Day (as the SAVE America Act requires) would go far toward ending this nightmare. And, to be accepted, all ballots must arrive before polls close (as the U.S. Supreme Court soon might decide.)

With these two reforms, California (and other states) could manage a much shorter stack of mail-in ballots. They could be counted every Election Day, with normal ballots. Winners and losers would emerge before the cocks crow at dawn.

To the Republican-led Senate: Scrap mass mail-in ballots. Pass the SAVE America Act. Make Election Night Great Again!

States Are Taking Action. But a Parent’s Intuition Remains the Final Line of Defense

To millions of children, Roblox looks like a colorful universe of games and imagination. Players build worlds, customize avatars, and explore endless digital playgrounds with friends.

But to a growing number of investigators, Roblox represents something else entirely. It is a massive digital environment where predators can hide behind cartoon avatars and quietly search for vulnerable children.

That concern has now reached the courtroom in both Nebraska and Louisiana.

Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers recently filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, accusing the platform of misleading parents about the safety of its environment while predators exploit the system to put countless children in danger.

Although Nebraska’s full court filing has not yet circulated widely online, reports about the case suggest that investigators discovered disturbing examples of user-created worlds accessible to children.

Strip clubs. Yes, children under 13 have access to digital strip clubs on the platform.

And if that’s not shocking enough, kids can visit “Epstein’s Island.” They can even engage in Sean “Diddy” Combs experiences, which are known to include “freak offs.”

The lawsuit also alleges that predators have used Roblox’s in-game currency, Robux, to both lure and manipulate children. By offering digital gifts or rewards, stalkers can gradually build trust before steering conversations toward inappropriate behavior.

This pattern is well known among researchers studying online grooming.

How Grooming Begins in Gaming Platforms

Unlike traditional social media, gaming platforms offer predators an easy slide into a child’s world by creating a tunnel of supposedly shared experiences, which make conversations feel natural and harmless.

“Problems with mom? Me too!” “You like Sponge Bob? He’s my favorite!”

Predators extend this conversation by playing a game with a child, offering tips, helping them win challenges, or giving them Robux (virtual currency). Over time, the predator establishes a friendly relationship.

Only later does the manipulation begin.

This is when the predator lures the child away from the main game environment and into private chat channels, voice chats, or outside messaging platforms. Once the conversation leaves the monitored space, it becomes much harder for parents or moderators to detect what is happening.

In some cases, the manipulation escalates into coercion or blackmail.

One reason gaming platforms pose unique risks is the anonymity they offer.

Users interact through avatars rather than real identities. A predator can present himself as another child, making it extremely difficult for young users to recognize danger.

Roblox alone hosts millions of user-generated environments. Each day, new games and digital worlds appear on the platform. Monitoring every interaction in such a vast system is an enormous, and possibly, an impossible task.

Critics argue that this scale allows deviants to operate in dark corners where oversight becomes a distorted game of hide-and-seek. The moderators are ‘it,’ but every time they find a predator, the ‘hider’ simply vanishes and reappears in a new corner of the platform, starting the cycle over again.

Organized Predator Networks

Investigators increasingly warn that the problem is not limited to lone predators like John Wayne Gacy. While Gacy required a physical crawl space to hide his crimes, the anonymity of gaming platforms creates “virtual crawl spaces” where bad actors operate in plain sight.

Decentralized networks like the group “764” — a neo-Nazi, Satanic subculture — have gained notoriety for weaponizing these digital environments. Unlike traditional predators, these groups use collective grooming, coercion, and “sextortion” to manipulate minors into self-harm or even violence.

The challenge for law enforcement is the extreme portability of these networks. When one account is flagged, members simply migrate to a new server or encrypted channel, turning the platform into a hunting ground where the predators are always one step ahead of police or platform oversight.

The Corporate Responsibility Question

The controversy surrounding Roblox raises a deeper issue confronting the technology industry:

Are companies truly capable of policing digital environments that contain hundreds of millions of users?

Roblox has invested heavily in moderation, deploying AI filters like Sentinel and thousands of human reviewers.

Roblox has consistently stated that it invests hundreds of millions in safety and continually improves its systems, but critics argue these efforts are fundamentally outmatched by the scale of the problem.

Yet, the platform’s very architecture — private messaging, user-created “experiences,” and a complex digital economy — serves as a double-edged sword. These same features that drive engagement also provide the camouflage predators use to bypass safeguards.

Critics argue this is a fundamental design flaw: safety is often at odds with the bottom line.

Historically, the industry has prioritized user growth and revenue over restrictive security, a choice some liken to a child shunning spinach for candy. This tension has now reached a boiling point in the courtroom.

What Parents Should Understand

The Roblox controversy serves as a warning about the broader digital environment children now inhabit.

Gaming platforms combine social media, chat systems, and virtual economies in ways that previous generations never experienced. While many children use these platforms safely, predators understand how to exploit their design.

Parents should be aware of several warning signs.

Children who receive unexpected gifts of digital currency may be interacting with strangers, attempting to build trust. Conversations that move quickly into private chat channels should raise concern. And any request for secrecy is a major red flag.

Understanding how these platforms function is essential to protecting young users.

DOJ Review of Voter Rolls Uncovers Alarming Names—and It’s Only the Beginning

The Justice Department is finding thousands of noncitizens and dead people on voter rolls as it pursues more state election records, said Harmeet Dhillon, the assistant attorney general for civil rights, in an interview.

“We’re finding tens of thousands of noncitizens on the voter rolls, hundreds of thousands of dead people on the voter rolls, and duplicate registrations between states,” Dhillon said on “Just the News, No Noise.”

Dhillon based her claim on a review of only 16 Republican-leaning states, such as Florida and Texas, that voluntarily complied with the Justice Department’s request for the election records.

The administration is suing 29 states for the records, seeking to ensure that states are complying with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and the Help America Vote Act of 2002. Those laws require states to update their voter registration lists and ensure they are free of names of dead people, or people who no longer reside in jurisdictions where they are registered to vote.

This comes in light of several prosecutions of noncitizens for illegal voting.

This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the FBI announced the arrest of Mahady Sacko, an illegal alien from Mauritania, for voter fraud in Philadelphia. ICE asserted he had been illegally voting in the United States since 2008.

Sacko entered the U.S. near Miami, and an immigration judge ordered him removed. Sacko exhausted all appeals, and the Board of Immigration Appeals upheld his removal on Nov. 14, 2002—over two decades ago.

In December, Joe Ceballos resigned as mayor of Coldwater, Kansas, after being arrested for voting multiple times, though he was not a citizen. The Department of Homeland Security announced removal proceedings but Ceballos, a legal permanent resident from Mexico, voted in multiple elections, according to the agency, and faced state charges.

The lawsuits contend the Justice Department has the authority to request and review election records under the Civil Rights Act of 1960.

The DOJ has sued both red and blue states. Most recently, the Justice Department sued Utah, Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia, and the Democrat-leaning New Jersey.

The Justice Department has also sued major Democrat-leaning states, such as California and New York, for voter rolls, as well as battleground states such as Arizona and Georgia.

“It’s really frustrating that we’re being prevented from doing our job,” Dhillon said.

The Justice Department could have a tough road ahead, noted J. Christian Adams, president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity group that has sued states for information on “dirty voter rolls.”

Adams is a former lawyer in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

“It’s decades-old news,” Adams told The Daily Signal of dead voters and noncitizens on voter lists. “Good luck doing anything about it.”

He noted that in cases by the foundation, both the 6^th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled states can’t be compelled to clean up voter rolls if they are already making an effort. The Supreme Court declined to hear the cases.

“It’s one thing to get data, it’s another thing to enforce cleaning up the rolls,” Adams said.

A Justice Department spokesperson did not respond to The Daily Signal by publication time to provide more details about the number of ineligible voters found on the voter lists so far.
