Social Media sites, like Facebook, are using ‘429 Too Many Requests’ as new way to censor everyone

Have you noticed that when your go to Facebook to post something you get the message “429 Too Many Requests?”

According to MDM Web Docs, The HTTP 429 Too Many Requests response status code indicates the user has sent too many requests in a given amount of time (“rate limiting”).

A 429 response is not technically an error — it’s a response from a server, application programming interface (API), or plugin that tells the client application to stop sending requests because they simply don’t have enough resources to accept it at this time.

We are receiving this HTTP 429 reply even though we have not posted anything for 24 or more hours on Facebook. We also found that @Treads and WIMKIN are also abusing the HTTP 429 code.

We believe that this new tactic is being used to prevent pro-Trumpers from putting out the messages that Facebook, @Treads and WIMKIN don’t agree with.

We particularly saw the increase in the use and abuse of the HTTP 429 Too Many Requests response status code since the attempted assassination of President Trump.

We have seen progressive social media go from blocking posts due to their “community standards” to the current use of the “429 Too Many Requests.”

If you are experiencing this same method of censorship please leave a comment below and share your experiences.
