DHS secretary announces ‘jobs giveaway’ for newly arrived migrants with work permits

What about Americans seeking jobs?

America doesn’t need to be supporting jobless illegals. Americans also need jobs. Responsible governments control migration, properly vet migrants, and put the needs of their home country first. Biden is doing none of those things. Instead, his administration is rewarding multitudes of unvetted foreign illegals, with criminals and terrorists among them.

Demonstrating how lightly the Biden administration regards American safety and well-being, Biden waived sanctions on Iran three days after the November election, providing the terrorist regime “access upward of $10 billion in once-frozen funds.” Why?

He also gave away a billion tax dollars to Africa, while residents of North Carolina are still struggling from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

“DHS Chief Alejandro Mayorkas Announces Jobs Giveaway for Migrants,” by John Binder, Breitbart, December 10, 2024:

In the final weeks of President Joe Biden’s administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is announcing a jobs giveaway for newly arrived migrants with work permits.

On Tuesday, Mayorkas announced a final rule from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that will allow millions of migrants, many of whom have been released into the U.S. interior by the Biden administration, to keep their work permits for up to 540 days when they seek a renewal.

Migrants previously could renew their work permits for 180 days. For years, Democratic mayors had lobbied DHS to extend such automatic employment authorization for migrants. The rule will go into effect on Jan. 13, 2025.

Mayorkas said in a statement the move is meant to help “businesses fill” American jobs with more migrants:

Increasing the automatic extension period for certain employment authorization documents will help eliminate red tape that burdens employers, ensure hundreds of thousands of individuals eligible for employment can continue to contribute to our communities, and further strengthen our nation’s robust economy. [Emphasis added]…

Indeed, in the last year, more than a million foreign-born workers have secured American jobs while nearly 800,000 native-born Americans have dropped out of the workforce.

In July of this year, a Pew Research Center study found that as of 2022, more than 30 million legal immigrants and illegal aliens were holding American jobs — a 20-percent increase over the last 15 years….

GOP Senators On The Fence For Trump Nominees Voted To Confirm Worst Of The Worst For Biden

Several Senate Republicans who previously confirmed President Joe Biden’s cabinet nominees now appear hesitant about some of President-elect Donald Trump’s appointees.

Some Republicans are sidestepping questions surrounding Trump’s more contentious nominees, calling into question which of his picks will survive the confirmation process. The nominees attracting the most pushback from within the GOP’s tent include Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FBI Director nominee Kash Patel.

While many of these Republicans supported Biden’s cabinet confirmations, they now seem tentative about Trump’s selections. Senators who previously voted to confirm Biden’s nominees such as Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas are now seemingly noncommittal about Trump’s choices.

Trump’s nominees aim to reverse Biden administration policies and reinstate his “America First” agenda. Members of Biden’s cabinet, meanwhile, have drawn harsh criticism during their tenures — particularly Mayorkas, who Republicans criticized for failing to stem the influx of illegal migrants across the southern border during Biden’s term, and Austin, who was criticized for the disastrous mishandling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, which left 13 Americans dead in 2021. Austin was also grilled in February over what he called a “breakdown in notifications” after he allegedly failed to notify Biden and others that he was in the intensive care unit for surgery related to prostate cancer.

Republicans have also ripped Garland, who they say weaponized the Department of Justice (DOJ) in relation to charges against Trump. House Republicans even introduced a resolution that would have fined the attorney general $10,000 per day were he to continue withholding audiotapes from the interview with Biden and Special Counsel Robert Hur.

These still-on-the-fence Republican senators who voted to confirm Garland include Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy, Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds and South Dakota Sen. John Thune, who was elected in November to replace longtime ally McConnell as Senate majority leader. Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is also meeting with Hegseth for the second time Monday and has not said whether she will be voting in favor of his confirmation.

Many Republican Senators also voted to confirm Austin to run the Department of Defense (DOD), but some are cagey about expressing their voting plans for Hegseth, Trump’s DOD pick.

Hegseth is facing allegations of sexual assault, which he has adamantly denied and for which he has not been charged. In the weeks following the announcement of his nomination, left-leaning media outlets have run numerous stories alleging that he has a drinking problem and is sexually promiscuous. Colleagues from Fox News have defended Hegseth in response to these allegations, which he has also denied.

The Republican senators who voted to confirm Austin but have not revealed their vote for Hegseth include Rounds, Cassidy, Ernst, Collins, Thune, McConnell and Murkowski.

Collins and Murkowski both voted to confirm Mayorkas as DHS secretary. The two have dodged questioning about their plans on voting for Trump’s cabinet picks, despite previously supporting Biden’s.

Despite the uncertainty, the president-elect has stood by his nominations and stated that he believes the Senate will vote to confirm Hegseth. No Senate Democrats voted against any of Biden’s cabinet appointees.

Illegal Immigrant ‘Gotaways’ Near Two Million Under Biden Admin

The number of illegal immigrant “gotaways” has skyrocketed to nearly two million under the Biden administration, a congressional source confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Roughly 1.9 million gotaways, illegal immigrants who escape into the interior of the country, have been recorded since President Joe Biden first entered office, a congressional source confirmed. In addition to the rise in gotaways, Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) non-detained docket has exploded to 7.4 million cases and is on track to hit eight million by the end of the year.

The internal federal data was first reported by Fox News.

“These numbers are further proof of President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas’ radical commitment to open borders, and the secretary’s high crimes and misdemeanors committed to make them a reality,” House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said in a Monday statement. “The laws passed by substantial bipartisan majorities in Congress make very clear that illegal aliens must be detained, but Biden and Mayorkas have instead directed and overseen the mass release of illegal aliens into our communities.”

Unlike other foreign nationals that seek out immigration officials and request asylum once they illegally cross the U.S. border, gotaways are observed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials escaping into the interior of the country before being apprehended. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is unable to track their whereabouts in the U.S.

The number of known gotaways has been steadily climbing the past several years.

There were more than 1.6 million known gotaways recorded between fiscal year 2021 through 2023, according to previously reported CBP data. That number eclipses all known gotaways recorded in both the Trump and Obama administrations from fiscal year 2010 through fiscal year 2020.

Due to the huge influx of asylum seekers appearing at the U.S.-Mexico border, an increasing number are being released from physical detention and allowed to roam freely in the interior of the U.S., being enrolled in ICE’s Alternative to Detention program. The non-detained docket, which currently sits at 7.4 million cases, has more than doubled since Biden entered office, the DCNF confirmed.

Chairman Green noted in his statement that the Biden administration has “consistently” requested fewer ICE beds in order to detain more migrants and isn’t utilizing all the beds currently available.

“Would-be border crossers around the world are making the bet that if they cross under this administration, they will be released into the interior,” Green said. “These numbers show that’s usually a winning wager to make.”

ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.

VIDEO: Texas Steps in, Arrests 214 Migrant Rioters Scheduled for Release by DHS

Last week, the State of Texas arrested and took custody of 214 migrants who staged a riot at the border near El Paso on March 21. They have now been charged with rioting and are in state custody, where they will be picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and put into court proceedings.

The riot, which ironically unfolded while a Congressional committee held a hearing on the Biden Administration’s abuse of our immigration laws, indeed appeared to be a literal invasion of illegal aliens. In a matter of minutes, the illegal migrants tore down fencing and stormed past Texas National Guard troops deployed to back up U.S. Border Patrol. Video of riot was captured by a crew from the New York Post, and the following day, it blanketed the airwaves. It captivated audiences, showing the reality of what law enforcement officers face on a daily basis and proving that the chaos and crisis along the nation’s border has not waded.

According to the New York Post, the migrants were initially taken into Border Patrol custody, but then were swiftly processed and scheduled for release, despite the violence, property damage, and assaults perpetrated on National Guard troops. Still, officials were able to gather information about how the riot unfolded. According to the Post:

“While in federal custody, a “cooperating migrant” identified Venezuelan national Gabriel Enrique Angarita Carrasquero, 22, to border agents as an “instigator” among the group that stormed the border…The informant said “he witnessed Angarita Carrasquero use [a] rope to pull the gate down which subsequently led to the migrant rush into the United States bypassing National Guard. The mole also pointed to Venezuelan migrant Juan Jose Colorado Gutierrez, 35, as another “one of the instigators” who used “wire cutters or bolt cutters to cut the barbed wire” on the US side of the border.”

In response, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) stepped in and arrested 214 of the aliens, who were still in federal custody at the El Paso jail, and charged them with rioting. Texas Governor Greg Abbott also reinstalled razor wire and deployed 200 additional National Guard soldiers from the Texas Tactical Border Force along the U.S.-Mexico border to intercept illegal aliens attempting to enter in the El Paso area.

Because the state court set the aliens’ bond hearing for Easter Sunday (March 31), the El Paso District Attorney requested that the hearings be postponed for several days.  However, the local magistrate judge denied the request and ordered 150 of the migrants to be released.

Still, none of the aliens have actually been released from custody.  At the same time, however, not all of the aliens remain in state custody. It appears by the time the magistrate judge ordered the migrants’ release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had lodged detainers against all of them and assumed custody of the 150 released. In a statement issued to Houston Public Media regarding the migrant rioters, ICE said, it “will lodge an immigration detainer, and once the individual has gone through the judicial process and completed a sentence, or is otherwise released from state or local custody, that individual will be returned to the custody of [Enforcement and Removal Operations] to await a final immigration status determination. Custody status will continue to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis as the individuals go through the immigration process.”

Last Wednesday, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that all the migrants involved in the March 21 riot were being held until ICE could assume custody of them. It also announced that the state had charged nine of the aliens with felony rioting charges (and of those, seven were in state custody). The migrants hailed from various countries, including Venezuela, Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador.

President Biden and the Secretary of Homeland Security did not provide comment after the rioting. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean Pierre blamed Republicans and Governor Abbott for the chaos, stating, “The razor wire, that’s [Abbott]. The National Guard, that’s him. The Border Patrol agents still did their job. They got in the way, like the governor’s plans got in the way.” She said the House of Representatives has failed to pass the Senate proposal and blamed the Governor for politicizing the issue.

El Paso has been a major crossing point for illegal migrants. In fact, the city’s mayor has issued several disaster declarations in the wake of the current border crisis. The most recent declaration from March 25 stated that “the City is faced with the imminent threat of widespread injury or loss of life resulting from a surge in transient migrants traveling to the region.” In Fiscal Year 2023, the El Paso sector had 482,095 land border encounters and over 174,000 community releases.

These disaster declarations undermine the so-called progress Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claims to have made in the region. In January 2023, Secretary Mayorkas said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had surged resources in El Paso by deploying 100 additional Border Patrol agents and additional officers to process illegal aliens for entry. He also touted the use of taxpayer dollars to surge emergency food and shelter funding for the area. In fiscal year 2023, several organizations in El Paso received FEMA funding to support the illegal alien population in the area.

Funding provided by Department of Homeland Security to El Paso organizations via the Shelter and Services Program for Fiscal Year 2023. Congress just provided $650 million more for the program in the Fiscal Year 2024 spending bill.

It remains to be seen what will ultimately happen with the El Paso rioters.  ICE has said it will assume custody of all of the illegal aliens involved, but ICE may not deport them. Indeed, it could still release them on bond. Unfortunately, the entire incident sends the message to migrants around the world is that stepping foot on U.S. soil is almost certain to lead to freedom under the Biden Administration. Meanwhile, El Paso and other border communities will continue to bear the brunt of the crisis.

Mayorkas Impeached!

Florida Congressman Vern Buchanan in an email wrote,

Moments ago, with my strong support, House Republicans just successfully voted to impeach Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas!

As Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas has a solemn duty to protect our nation and defend our borders.

But since his first day in office, Mayorkas has failed miserably at his one core job responsibility and allowed a tidal wave of illegal immigration to flood our country with skyrocketing crime, drugs and a growing humanitarian crisis.

In fact, since taking office:

  • Over 8 million illegal immigrants have crossed our borders
  • More than 1.7 million known gotaways have evaded border patrol and entered our country
  • 361 suspected terrorists have attempted to infiltrate our country (how many more slipped by?)

Mayorkas has also repeatedly lied to the American people by continuously claiming that “the border is secure” when the facts of the matter prove otherwise, which is abundantly clear to anyone not living under a rock.

The situation on our southern border is a crisis of epic proportions and only getting worse by the day. And America’s adversaries are taking full advantage of it.

Let me know if you support my vote and agree that it is well past time to hold Mayorkas accountable for willfully violating federal immigration laws and jeopardizing the safety and security of the American people.

The Most Justified Impeachment in American History

Secretary Mayorkas willfully allowing millions to invade the country is not just a “policy dispute.”

As the House Homeland Security Committee advanced articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over an invasion of the country by millions, Democrats and some Republicans argued that it was a “policy dispute” and not impeachable.

“Political and policy disagreements aren’t impeachable offenses,” former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff argued in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. The Journal‘s own editorial board used that same line in its own subheader opposing impeachment, arguing that, “a policy dispute doesn’t qualify as a high crime and misdemeanor.”

Democrats have been making that argument all along.

The Democrat Committee on Homeland Security put forward a 45-page statement which mentions the word “policy” 45 times, and argues that, “Impeachment is an extraordinary remedy under the United States Constitution. It is not a tool for policy or political differences.”

“This is simply a policy dispute, a disagreement about how a different party is attacking a policy problem. And the Republicans are trying to abuse their power and the Constitution to convert what is simply a disagreement into somehow some way, a high crime and misdemeanor there is no crime, much less a high crime or misdemeanor here,” Rep Dan Goldman contended.

Impeachment is not an “extraordinary remedy”, it’s just the ultimate form of congressional oversight. Presidents are not kings, they do not have unlimited power to do whatever they please, and cabinet members may be appointed by presidents, but they must be approved and serve at the pleasure of two branches of the federal government, and not just of one single man.

The same Democrats protesting that impeaching Mayorkas is an abuse of power were responsible for sending Peter Navarro, a former Trump official, to prison for refusing to testify before their partisan committee. That was and is an extraordinary abuse of power.

Mayorkas, unlike Navarro, is a sitting government official. Impeachment, as Alexander Hamilton wrote in the Federalist Papers, involves those “offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust.

Impeachable offenses “relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself,” he wrote.

It’s hard to think of a better example than allowing millions of illegal aliens to invade the country, and doing everything possible to wilfully impede the efforts of states trying to slow that invasion.

As the internet meme goes, Homeland Security had one job. Is our homeland secure?

Entire cities have been overloaded and are groaning under the weight of an invasion that has no precedent in American history. Major cities are swarmed, police officers are being assaulted in broad daylight and stores are being cleaned out by massive mobs of illegal migrant invaders.

There were 2.5 million encounters at the border in the last fiscal year alone. And that does not count the millions more who were never ‘encountered’. The same House Committee on Homeland Security moving to impeach Secretary Mayorkas had released statistics showing that there were 269,735 encounters in just the last month of the fiscal year.

Nearly 7 million illegal alien invaders have shown up on Mayorkas’ and Biden’s watch. They include tens of thousands of gang members and criminals, hundreds of terrorists and enough fentanyl to kill every American ten times over… and those are just the ones that we caught.

Is 7 million illegal invaders a policy dispute or a war?

Biden, Mayorkas and other officials claim that they’re helpless to act and that they’re doing the best that they can, and that House Republicans can fix the problem with a “border deal.”

All of that is a lie.

The Biden administration calculatedly set out to dismantle every border security policy. It ended construction of the border wall and sued Arizona and Texas for trying to fortify their own borders.  It fought in court to end Title 42 authority by claiming that the pandemic was over even as Biden tried to justify his massive student loan bailout plan because of the pandemic. It went to court to be able to not only release illegal alien invaders into America, but to do so without court dates.

When a court blocked the release of illegal aliens without court dates, Secretary Mayorkas denounced it as a “very harmful ruling.” During the negotiations for a ‘border deal’, the Biden administration insisted that preventing it from releasing illegal aliens into the country was a ‘red line’ that it could not compromise on. That’s because releasing them is the whole point.

You can file this under “treason” or “high crimes and misdemeanors”, but it is at its most elemental, a profound breach of the public trust with massively catastrophic consequences.

It is a “policy dispute” in the same sense that announcing China can freely invade California or that anyone born before 1959 can be freely killed without fear of prosecution is a policy dispute. In theory every policy position, no matter how horrifying, is a policy dispute. Public officials should not be casually impeached over policy disagreements, they should however be impeached when their malicious actions violate their duties and cause tremendous harm.

Of all the impeachments over the years, impeaching Mayorkas may be the most justified.

Past impeachments have often been partisan exercises or like the impeachment of Judge Alcee Hastings for bribery (who then became a long serving Democrat congressman) a matter of personal corruption where the overall public harm was either intangible or negligible.

The impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas is not a matter of personal misconduct. There is no evidence that he is stealing, conducting an affair, taking or soliciting bribes or corrupting the government for his own personal agendas. His only actual crime is following orders.

And that’s the only argument against impeaching Mayorkas. He’s not acting on his own.

Enabling the mass invasion of the United States is not the action of one man, but of an administration, which has used every federal agency at its disposal, including the EPA, to enable that invasion, which has dispensed a fortune to the invaders to encourage them to invade, and another fortune to the refugee resettlers to make sure that they never leave.

And it’s not just the policy of one man or one administration, but of a party that has spent decades conniving, scheming and maneuvering, since the Kennedy administration, to fundamentally transform immigration law in order to shift the national demographics and the political culture through laws, UN treaties, economic incentives and the neglect of existing laws.

Elected officials can advocate for laws, no matter how destructive, and they can even lie about the consequences of those laws, as JFK and Ted Kennedy did about the shift toward third world immigration, as LBJ did about the disastrous UN refugee treaty that is at the heart of our asylum problem today, and as Senate Democrats did about their amnesty in 1986. But that amnesty, part of another in a series of “border deals” became part of the trend of not only advocating, but ignoring and refusing to enforce immigration laws. And then creating anti-immigration laws, such as sanctuary cities and states, and a federal crackdown on state immigration enforcement.

Beyond a refusal to enforce laws, Obama initiated a unilateral amnesty for some illegal aliens as part of what was deemed “selective enforcement” and “discretion”. That already illegal policy evolved under Biden into virtually no enforcement for anyone except the worst of the worst.

Elected officials and appointees have certain responsibilities, regardless of their partisan agendas, and there are consequences for failing to uphold them. As a partisan political appointee, Secretary Mayorkas would inevitably work toward open borders, as has every Democrat before him, but that did not change his responsibility to his official duties.

Overseeing and implementing an invasion is incompatible with those duties.

Elected officials can have policy disputes, but appointed officials are managing the machinery of the state which must continue to run despite their partisan leanings. An anti-war secretary of defense cannot simply drive all the tanks into the ocean and announce that the United States will no longer defend itself against enemy invasions. And, contrariwise, a conservative EPA head cannot reject the concept of pollution and refuse to fulfill the responsibilities of his office.

That is what Secretary Mayorkas has done. He was following orders, but that’s no excuse. Cabinet members may be chosen by presidents, but they answer to two branches of the government. That second branch of the government is preparing to impeach Mayorkas for actions that have wrecked entire cities, trashed much of the country and cost countless lives.

No one died because of anything that Clinton or Trump faced impeachment for, but people have died in sizable numbers because of the action and inaction of Secretary Mayorkas and Biden. The murders, fentanyl overdoses and diseases spreading across the nation are a crime. They are a high crime whose origin lies with the policies of Mayorkas and the Biden administration.

If a political official willfully refusing to do his duty leading to an invasion of millions and the deaths of over a hundred people doesn’t justify impeachment, what possibly does?

House GOP Drafts Articles Of Impeachment Against Mayorkas

The House Homeland Security Committee released draft articles of impeachment Sunday against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The first article of impeachment against Mayorkas is for “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” and the second is for “breach of the public trust,” according to a copy obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The committee held two hearings recently on impeachment proceedings against Mayorkas that centered around his handling of the southern border and heard the testimonies of Republican attorneys general, legal experts and mothers who’ve lost their kids to fentanyl and an MS-13 gang member.

The first article surrounds the record levels of migrants coming illegally and getting released into the country that has happened under Mayorkas’ watch. One of the ways the committee believes Mayorkas played a role in the issue is through a September 2021 memo in which he directed his agency to limit immigration enforcement.

“The fact an individual is a removable noncitizen therefore should not alone be the basis of an enforcement action against them,” Mayorkas wrote in the previous memo.

Border Patrol recorded more than 2.2 million encounters of migrants crossing the southern border illegally in fiscal year 2022 and more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023, according to federal data. Between October and December, there have been more than 629,000 illegal encounters at the southern border.

The second article asserts that Mayorkas lied to Congress when he said the southern border is “secure,” “no less secure than it was previously,” that it’s “closed,” and that DHS has “operational control” of the area. One section of the article points to Mayorkas’ previous statements supporting a false narrative accusing Border Patrol agents of “whipping” illegal migrants in September 2021.

A federal investigation later found that the agents didn’t engage in any whipping.

“These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment. He has willfully and systemically refused to comply with immigration laws enacted by Congress. He has breached the public trust by knowingly making false statements to Congress and the American people, and obstructing congressional oversight of his department,” the committee’s chairman, Mark Green, said in a statement to the DCNF.

“These facts are beyond dispute, and the results of his lawless behavior have been disastrous for our country. Empowered and enriched cartels, mass fentanyl poisonings, surges of terror watchlist suspects, more criminal illegal aliens causing harm in our communities, and traumatized and exploited migrants will be Secretary Mayorkas’ open-borders legacy,” Green said.

DHS believes the committee’s actions are “unconstitutional and evidence-free,” according to an agency memo obtained by the DCNF.

“This markup is just more of the same political games from House Homeland Security Committee (CHS) Republicans. They don’t want to fix the problem; they want to campaign on it. That’s why they have undermined efforts to achieve bipartisan solutions and ignored the facts, legal scholars and experts, and even the Constitution itself in their quest to baselessly impeach Secretary Mayorkas,” the memo states.

“This farce of an impeachment is a distraction from other vital national security priorities and the work Congress should be doing to actually fix our broken immigration laws,” the memo states.

The committee will hold a markup of the impeachment articles on Tuesday.

Mayorkas Enabled Huge ‘Waste And Abuse’ Of Taxpayer Dollars In Handling Of Border Crisis, GOP Probe Finds

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is directly responsible for massive “waste and abuse” of taxpayer dollars in his handling of the crisis at the southern border, according to a new report by the House Homeland Security Committee first obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Under Mayorkas’ leadership, the use of hotel rooms to house illegal migrants instead of taxpayer-funded beds in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, along with the cancellation of former President Donald Trump’s border wall construction, have resulted in massive overspending and waste on the American taxpayers’ dime, according to the report. The report marks the final portion of Committee Chairman Mark Green’s investigation into Mayorkas that kicked off in June.

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, a move that Democrats killed. The Homeland Security Committee is set to take up the proceedings early into 2024, a committee staffer told the DCNF.

“In keeping with the House of Representatives’ vote last month to refer articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas to our Committee, we will be moving swiftly into impeachment proceedings in the new year,” the committee staffer said.

ICE projected that each bed costs $142.44 or less in its fiscal year 2024 budget request to Congress, according to the report. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has contracted companies to help house illegal migrants in hotels, a much more costly decision.

“From halting construction on a bought-and-paid-for border wall to leaving detention beds empty and empowering anti-enforcement officials at ICE, Secretary Mayorkas’ reckless decision-making and open-borders policies have led to the waste and abuse of billions of taxpayer dollars,” Green said in a statement to the DCNF.

The administration awarded a roughly $86 million contract to house illegal migrant families at hotels for the cost of $392 per night. An April 2022 inspector general’s report found that “ICE did not adequately justify the need for the sole source contract to house migrant families and spent approximately $17 million for hotel space and services at six hotels that went largely unused between April and June 2021.”

“ICE’s sole source contract with Endeavors resulted in millions of dollars being spent on unused hotel space,” the inspector general reported.

Additionally, the committee’s report found that states are having to bear the brunt of the costs of housing illegal migrants that DHS is “purposefully passing.” Each day, it costs New York city roughly $339 to house each family and $184 for single adults.

“Our most recent report showed how cities and states across this country are paying the financial price of those policies. What this evidence shows is that the federal government is also wasting taxpayer resources on a massive scale. This latest report provides much-needed transparency for the American people, who should not be forced to pay the cost of Mayorkas’ refusal to enforce the law any longer,” Green said.

Top GOP Reps Probe Mayorkas Over DHS Board With Ex-Intel Officials Who Signed Hunter Biden Laptop Letter

Top Republican lawmakers requested information from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding an agency group that will include former intelligence officials who signed a letter suggesting the Hunter Biden laptop was a “Russian information operation,” according to a copy of a Thursday letter first obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

DHS tapped former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and former CIA Operations Officer Paul Kolbe, all of whom signed an October 2020 letter casting doubt on the legitimacy of the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation, to join the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group. In response, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green and Republican Texas Rep. August Pfluger are demanding to know DHS’ selection process for the group’s members, according to a copy of the letter.

The Hunter Biden laptop contents were authenticated by the Daily Caller News FoundationThe New York TimesThe Washington PostCBS News and other media outlets. No evidence currently exists to suggest the laptop was a Russian disinformation operation.

“Multiple members of this Homeland Intelligence Expert Group have shown an utter disregard for the truth, not to mention brazen political bias. Does Secretary Mayorkas really think appointing leading Russian-collusion hoaxers will increase trust in his department? Clearly, he doesn’t care,” Green said in a statement to the DCNF.

Both Clapper and Brennan have been previously criticized for misleading the American public. On multiple occasions, Clapper gave incorrect information to Congress.

Clapper gave “inconsistent testimony” about contacts he had with the media while in office, Republicans charged. Additionally, Brennan denied that CIA officials had hacked the computers of Senate Intelligence Committee staffers, a statement that was later proven false.

“James Clapper and John Brennan have no place in positions of power—much less on a board of so-called experts where they will surely continue to serve as partisan Democrat operatives disguised as national security officials. The Department of Homeland Security must dispense with its disinformation boards and expert groups and focus on the real national security issues facing our country—such as the thousands of illegal migrants crossing our southern border on a daily basis,” Pfluger, who serves as the chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence, said in a statement to the DCNF.

The group will meet four times per year to advise DHS on intelligence and national security efforts regarding issues such as “terrorism, fentanyl, transborder issues, and emerging technology,” DHS said.

DHS didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

House Committee Says Mayorkas ‘Enriched The Cartels’ After Second Phase Of Republican-Led Investigation

The House Homeland Security Committee released the findings of the second part of their probe Thursday into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, finding he “enriched the cartels,” according to a copy of the report obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Under Mayorkas’ leadership as DHS secretary, cartels have gained more control over the southern border and smuggled more individuals and contraband across it, according to the report. The first phase of House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green’s probe focused on Mayorkas’ alleged “dereliction” of his duty as secretary of DHS.

Cartel smuggling of illegal migrants has become a billion-dollar industry as illegal immigration has surged, The New York Times reported in 2022. Border Patrol recorded a record of more than 2.2 million illegal migrant encounters along the southern border in fiscal year 2022, according to federal data.

“Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ open-borders policies have empowered and emboldened some of the most vicious, ruthless, and savage individuals and groups in the world. Whether it is transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) like the cartels and human smuggling organizations in the Western Hemisphere, potential national security threats from countries who sponsor terrorism, or those coming from major state adversaries like China and Russia, the wide-open Southwest border has given America’s enemies all over the globe an opportunity to infiltrate the homeland—an opportunity too good to pass up,” the report stated.

Several House Republicans, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Pat Fallon of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona, have already filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas. There is, however, a faction of House Republicans who are going to wait for the conclusion of Green’s investigation before backing impeachment, according to congressional staffers who previously spoke with the DCNF.

Green has also yet to call for Mayorkas’ impeachment.

“We’ve got some people that are sharing some information with us that there’s potential fraud, so we’re going to look very hard at all of these things, prepare a packet, show it to the American people, and then if it warrants impeachment, we’ll hand it off to Chairman Jordan. I think it will, based on the information I know,” Green previously told the DCNF.

DHS believes that the blame lies on Congress, which it urges to pass immigration reform legislation.

“Secretary Mayorkas is proud to advance the noble mission of the Department, support its extraordinary workforce, and serve the American people. The Department will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border, protect the United States from terrorism, and improve our cybersecurity, all while building a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system. Instead of pointing fingers and pursuing baseless attacks, Congress should work with the Department and pass comprehensive legislation to fix our broken immigration system, which has not been updated in decades,” a DHS spokesperson previously told the DCNF regarding Green’s probe.

The Number of Migrants with Suspected Terror Ties Entering U.S. Increased 15% in One Month

What could possibly go wrong? It’s a religion of peace!

Border encounters of migrants with suspected terror ties jumped 15% last month

by Nicholas Ballasy, Just The News, August 22, 2023:

The number of migrants with suspected terror ties encountered at U.S. “land border ports of entry” increased 15% in one month, according to the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.

A total amount of individuals who appear on the terrorist watchlist caught at ports of entry jumped from 382 to 442 after CBP publicly released its July 2023 operational data. So far into fiscal year 2023, 70 have been caught at the southwest border and 372 have been caught at the northern border.

This represents the highest amount for this category, formally referred to as Terrorist Screening Dataset (TSDS), since fiscal year 2020.

The number of individuals on the terrorist watchlist encountered “between ports of entry” rose from 143 to 149 so far into fiscal year 2023, according to the latest data. Of the 149 total, 146 have been encountered at the southwest border and 3 have been encountered at the northern border, which is the highest amount for this category of encounters since at least fiscal year 2017, the earliest year on the CBP data chart.

California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa pressed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the status of the suspected terrorists encountered at the U.S. border during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in July.

Issa asked Mayorkas how many suspected terrorists have been deported, put in jail or released but Mayorkas didn’t answer. Instead, he vowed to provide the information to Issa at a later date. When reached by Just the News, Issa’s office said it had not received that information yet, almost 1 month since the hearing took place….

Legal Group Sues Biden Admin For Allegedly Concealing FBI Background Investigation Into Mayorkas

America First Legal Foundation sued the Biden administration Wednesday for allegedly concealing information regarding an FBI investigation into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, according to a copy of the complaint first obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The lawsuit against both the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) asks that the agencies release the documents related to the Mayorkas probe, according to the complaint. The conservative group was previously denied a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the records regarding the FBI’s investigation into Mayorkas’ background.

“The American people deserve to have access to the files we requested to understand the extent to which Secretary Mayorkas disclosed his foreign ties and contacts, among other things. Disclosing these records is consistent with what the FBI did during the Trump Administration when it released portions of the SF-86 for then Attorney General Jeff Sessions, so there is simply no reason why they should not provide the same information for Secretary Mayorkas,” Gene Hamilton, America First Legal Vice President and General Counsel, said in a statement to the DCNF.

The lawsuit’s timing coincides with increasing calls from Republicans in Congress to impeach Mayorkas, mainly for his handling of the security of the southern border.

One of the issues the group cites is an inspector general’s report from 2015 that found that Mayorkas, while serving as the director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), had personally intervened “outside the normal adjudicatory process” to help foreign investors in the EB-5 visa program who were connected to top Democrats.

“Secretary Mayorkas’s abysmal performance has led to the introduction of several impeachment resolutions in Congress,” America First Legal said in a statement shared with the DCNF. The Secretary’s dereliction of duty regarding our immigration system has turned America into a borderless nation, and every state is feeling the consequences of allowing millions of illegal immigrants to flood into the United States. While Americans are dying at the hands of illegal aliens that should never have been allowed to enter America, the Biden Administration and Secretary Mayorkas have turned a blind eye.”

America First Legal submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the FBI on January 6 for “the FBI background investigation, Form SF-86, and any supporting security clearance documentation, including waiver forms [completed] by Alejandro Mayorkas or his designees for the purpose of allowing the FBI to conduct a background investigation as part of his nomination[s].”

The FBI responded on January 13, denying it the request. America First Legal appealed the denial for the reason that the records were submitted to Congress, but the FBI reiterated its denial.

House GOP Is About To Drop A Massive Report Alleging That Biden’s DHS Chief Broke The Law

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green is set to release a lengthy report detailing his initial findings of his probe into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that details ways he believes he broke the law, he told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview.

Green launched a probe into Mayorkas on June 14 with the initial phase focusing on the DHS secretary’s alleged “dereliction of duty.” Green says the more than 100 pages of findings from the first phase of his ongoing probe will be released within the next couple of weeks.

“The list of everything that we’ve learned so far in phase one, the dereliction of duty phase will be published here very shortly. In fact, I’m proofing the final document, which is like 111 pages, but laws that have been violated. In some cases, we believe that Mayorkas has broken the law himself,” Green told the DCNF.

Green cited several instances where he believes Mayorkas has committed “intentional” and “willful dereliction of duty,” he said, referring to DHS’ use of the CBP One phone application to allow tens of thousands of migrants to enter the country each month through ports of entry at the southern border. He also believes Mayorkas lied to Congress when he asserted that DHS had “operational control” of the U.S.-Mexico border.

“There’s the lying to Congress, there’s the CBP One app, which is just this big shell game to produce automatic mass parole in violation of the laws passed by Congress. It is a wanton disregard for the separation of powers and the Constitution of the United States,” Green said.

“There’s also sort of negligent dereliction of duty. He admitted in the Senate that he didn’t understand the cartel strategy despite the fact that Merrick Garland very clearly understood it when he testified. If you’re the guy who’s in charge of homeland security and protecting the borders and going against the cartels, you probably ought to understand the major strategies of the drug cartels,” Green said, referring to Mayorkas seemingly not knowing about cartel wristbands used to track migrants crossing the southern border when previously pressed by Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

WATCH:

Despite some House Republicans already having filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, Green stopped short of calling for such action until his investigation concludes.

Green said the final phase of the probe will include information from anonymous U.S. officials who have been speaking with the committee that he hopes will become whistleblowers and testify publicly. He told the DCNF in May that he was speaking with the officials and that they had shared evidence of “potential fraud” Mayorkas committed.

“Ideally, they would become whistleblowers, get protection and testify. They have reluctance to do so because of what’s happened at the DOJ with the guys who came clean there and then got bullied by the leadership,” Green said.

“So they’re obviously very concerned. I mean this administration has no concept of law and order and so these people are very concerned. We just have to figure out a way to make sure we can guarantee the protection because some of these people they have their retirements on the line,” Green added.

The second phase of Green’s investigation into Mayorkas will begin with a subcommittee hearing entitled “Biden and Mayorkas’ Open Border: Advancing Cartel Crime in America” Wednesday that will spotlight the fentanyl crisis, the DCNF first reported. It will be followed by a full committee hearing on July 19 “to examine how this administration’s reckless open-border policies have empowered cartels in Mexico to seize operational control of the Southwest border,” a committee spokesperson told the DCNF.

House Homeland Security Committee To Spotlight Cartel Violence In Next Phase Of Mayorkas Probe

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green will begin the second phase of his investigation into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas next week to focus on the role of cartels in the border crisis ensuing under his leadership, a committee spokesperson exclusively told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The first hearing will be from a House Homeland subcommittee July 12 on the cartels’ smuggling of fentanyl across the southern border and its effects on the American people, the committee spokesperson told the DCNF. The first phase of Green’s probe focused on Mayorkas’ alleged “dereliction” of his duty as secretary of DHS.

“For over two years, President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas’ refusal to enforce our nation’s laws and their cancellation of effective border security policies have become an integral part of the drug cartels’ business model,” Green said in a statement to the DCNF.

The committee spokesperson also pointed to previous statements Mayorkas has made, including his apparent ignorance to the fact that Mexican cartels use wristbands to track their illegal migrant smuggling enterprises.

Mayorkas also testified to Congress that DHS has “operational control” of the southern border, which his then-Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz subsequently contradicted.

Between October 2022 and May, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehended 20,923 foreigners with criminal histories and 442 gang members, according to nationwide federal data. Of additional concern to the committee, illicit fentanyl that’s largely smuggled across the southern border is part of the reason for the spike in drug overdose deaths in the U.S., including the more than 100,000 that occurred in 2021.

“Consequently, a record number of families across this country have had to mourn the loss of sons and daughters, fathers and mothers to fentanyl poisonings. Also devastating is the horrendous violence and intimidation those making the journey to the border and law enforcement personnel responding to the crisis face at the hands of cartels,” Green said.

Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Pat Fallon of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona have already filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas. There is, however, a faction of House Republicans who are going to wait for the conclusion of Green’s investigation before backing impeachment, according to congressional staffers who recently spoke with the DCNF.

“Homeland Republicans will not stop in our investigation of Mayorkas’ failure to uphold the duties of his office and our efforts to ensure this administration is held accountable for ceding operational control of our border to these violent organizations,” Green said in his statement to the DCNF.

Sen. Rick Scott Grills Mayorkas On All The Times The Biden Admin Spread ‘Disinformation’

Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott held Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ feet to the fire about “disinformation” spread by President Joe Biden’s administration during a Tuesday Senate hearing.

Scott paired his questioning of Mayorkas with a large poster board that listed several topics he alleges the Biden administration has lied about including border security, Hunter Biden’s laptop, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Chinese spy balloon that traversed across the country in February, according to video from the hearing.

“There’s a whole bunch of people in the Biden administration who put out false narratives. They’ve said the border’s secure, they’ve said Hunter Biden’s laptop is not real. They’ve said the Afghanistan withdrawal was successful. They’ve said the Chinese spy balloon over the United States is not a threat,” Scott listed. “All that, as we all have found out, is untrue. Now we’ve learned from the Twitter Files is that government is working with and funds NGOs to censor millions of Americans via Big Tech in direct violation of our First Amendment rights.”

Scott also pressed Mayorkas about the DHS’ involvement with digital censorship, pointing several times to the Twitter Files saga that revealed how the U.S. government worked with social media companies to censor and monitor accounts

Mayorkas pushed back that the DHS does not “censor speech” and that he wanted “to nip that misimpression in the bud,” according to the video.

“We don’t do that and, I should say, that the personnel of the Department of Homeland Security … not only have unflinching dedication to missions, but also have unflinching dedication to the law that they enforce,” he said.

“Let’s just go to the facts,” Scott said. “The Biden administration has said all those things, and now Elon Musk has been clear that the Biden administration has had access to private messages … Twitter messages.”

Scott then grilled Mayorkas about whether or not he believed the Biden administration’s claims about the several national security examples, according to the video. Mayorkas did not immediately answer the question, but denied that DHS has access to monitor private Twitter messages unless it is vital to a criminal investigation.

“I can assure you that it is not our job, nor do we do it, to censor speech. What we do is we assess the threat landscape that this country confronts so that we can secure the homeland and protect the American people,” he said. “That’s what we do, and our Office of Intelligence and Analysis has a responsibility which it fulfills to understand that threat landscape, to understand what the threats are that we face.”

Mayorkas “would be concerned” with DHS employees reading private Twitter messages outside of a criminal investigation, he told Scott while clarifying that his opinion “is not informed by the law.” Any employee who violates the law is held accountable and “do not represent the workforce of the Department of Homeland Security,” he said.

Tuesday’s hearing was held by the Committee on Homeland Security & National Affairs about the DHS’ Fiscal Year 2024 budget, according to the committee website.
