Defense Intelligence Agency Employee Charged With Trying To Send Classified Data To Foreign Government

FBI officials announced Thursday that a 28-year-old Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) employee was arrested for allegedly attempting to transmit national defense information to an officer or agent of a foreign government, according to a press release.

The suspect, identified as Nathan Vilas Laatsch, was arrested in northern Virginia following an investigation launched after a tip that someone had “offered to provide classified information to a friendly foreign government.” In a statement posted to X, FBI Director Kash Patel said the case highlights “the persistent risk of insider threats.”

“This case underscores the persistent risk of insider threats. The FBI remains steadfast in protecting our national security and [many] thanks [to] our law enforcement partners for their critical support,” Patel wrote.

According to officials, court documents show Laatsch had been employed by the DIA since 2019, working in its Insider Threat Division and holding a Top Secret security clearance.

In March, the FBI received a tip about a potential threat and discovered an email in which the sender said he did not “agree or align with the values of this administration” and was “willing to share classified information,” including “completed intelligence products, some unprocessed intelligence and other assorted classified documentation.”

Laatsch unknowingly began communicating with an undercover FBI agent, believing they were an official of the foreign government. The 28-year-old allegedly transcribed classified information onto a notepad at his desk and, over the course of approximately three days, repeatedly exfiltrated the information from his workspace.

By May, Laatsch was surveilled by the FBI at a drop location, handing off a thumb drive containing classified information, according to officials.

“Following Laatsch’s departure, the FBI retrieved the item, which was a thumb drive later found to contain a message from Laatsch and multiple typed documents, each containing information that was portion-marked up to the Secret or Top Secret levels,” the press release states. “The message from Laatsch indicated that he had chosen to include “a decent sample size” of classified information to “decently demonstrate the range of types of products” to which he had access.”

Between May 15 and May 27, Laatsch allegedly gathered more classified information, telling the undercover agent he would consider “citizenship for your country” or “other compensation.” As the 28-year-old prepared to deliver a second batch of materials on Thursday, FBI officials then arrested the former DIA employee.

Since President Donald Trump returned to office in January, several federal departments have faced internal leaks. In February, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem suggested that “corrupt” FBI agents were behind a leaked memo detailing a planned large-scale ICE raid in the Los Angeles area.

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Noem said DHS had identified “some” of the leakers and warned there would be consequences for those involved.

“We are continuing to get more. They will be fired. There will be consequences. And remember, when they leak information to the press in order to blow an op, they are putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy,” Noem said. “They are risking their lives and putting their families in the position where they have to live without those individuals any further.”

Germany says it will arrest Netanyahu as Israeli envoy appeals to Berlin to defy ICC

Israel’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ron Prosor, was rebuffed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government on Wednesday after the envoy made a dramatic appeal on X, formerly Twitter, to the Federal government to reject the ICC’s legitimacy fully.

Scholz’s spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit, was asked on Wednesday if the German government would execute an ICC arrest order against Prime Minister Netanyahu for alleged war crimes during Swords of Iron.

Hebestreit said, “Of course. Yes, we abide by the law.”

On Tuesday, before Hebestreit’s announcement, Prosor wrote on X in both German and English, “This is outrageous! The German ‘Staatsräson’ is now being put to the test—no ifs or buts. This contrasts with the weak statements we hear from some institutions and political actors. The public statement that Israel has the right to self-defense loses credibility if our hands are tied as soon as we defend ourselves.”

Staatsräson is the German word that refers to Germany’s pledge to ensure Israel’s security is part of its national security and interests. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared during her 2008 Knesset speech that Israel is part of Germany’s raison d’etre—or state of being.

Here Are The 17 Democrat Members Of Congress Who Were Arrested Outside The Supreme Court

At least 17 House Democrats were arrested Tuesday afternoon outside the Supreme Court.

The Democrats were attending an abortion rights rally to protest the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. In several videos posted on Twitter, Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar can be seen with their hands behind their back being held by police officers who appear to be escorting them away from the protest in front of the Supreme Court.

“Today, Rep. AOC was arrested along with other members of Congress outside the Supreme Court for protesting in support of abortion rights,” Ocasio-Cortez’s office tweeted from her account.

Democratic Missouri Rep. Cori Bush tweeted Tuesday that she and her colleagues “put” their “bodies on the line” amid the protest.

“I introduced legislation yesterday and today to protect reproductive freedom. Today my colleagues and I put our bodies on the line—because we will leave no stone unturned in our fight for justice. Bans off our bodies,” Bush said.

The Daily Caller contacted the U.S. Capitol Police about the videos to which Capitol Police said they would be releasing final arrest numbers later in the afternoon.

VIDEO: Media Refuses To Cover George Floyd Body Cam Footage

The Daily Mail obtained leaked body cam footage from the police officers who arrested George Floyd, and the full video is not good for the Black Lives Matter narrative.

The footage shows that Floyd was resisting arrest, impossible to deal with, and was complaining about not being able to breathe well before he was put on the ground. Yet the media has hardly covered this new footage because of course it hurts the idea that this was an intentional murder of a man because he was black.

Man arrested for asking Muslim woman to ‘explain Brussels’

Arguably, Matthew Doyle was rude to confront a stranger, or even, in his later version, to ask her politely to explain something with which she had no involvement. He was clumsily expressing the frustration that many non-Muslims feel over the general failure of Muslim communities in the West to do much of anything to stop the jihad violence they say they condemn. Where, as I have asked hundreds of times, are their programs to prevent young Muslims from adhering to the Islamic State’s understanding of Islam? If they really reject that understanding, these should be everywhere.

One might call Doyle obnoxious, boorish, ham-fisted, whatever. But to arrest him for this is shocking, and demonstrates how much Britain has degenerated. Now being impertinent or unkind to a Muslim on the street is a crime? If so, then the UK is well on its way to adopting the rest of Sharia, and its days as a free nation are over. Also, how many Muslims have been arrested in Britain for asking non-Muslims rude questions?

“Croydon man arrested after confronting Muslim woman and telling her to ‘explain Brussels,’” by Adam Boult, Telegraph, March 23, 2016:

A man who tweeted about stopping a Muslim woman in the street yesterday, challenging her to “explain Brussels”, and lambasted on Twitter for his comments, has responded to the criticism today, insisting he is not some ‘far right merchant’.

Matthew Doyle, partner at a south London-based talent & PR agency, posted a tweet on Wednesday morning saying: “I confronted a Muslim woman in Croydon yesterday. I asked her to explain Brussels. She said ‘nothing to do with me’. A mealy mouthed reply.”

He was later arrested.

His tweet referred to yesterday’s bomb attacks on the Belgian capital’s main airport and Metro system that left at least 34 people dead and 198 injured. His comment went viral, being retweeted hundreds of times before he eventually deleted it.

Mr Doyle told the Telegraph he had no idea his tweet would be the “hand grenade” it has proven to be – and that Twitter’s 140 character limit made the encounter sound vastly different to how he thought it went.

“What everyone’s got wrong about this is I didn’t confront the woman,” he said. “I just said: ‘Excuse me, can I ask what you thought about the incident in Brussels?’”

“She was white, and British, wearing a hijab – and she told me it was nothing to do with her.

“I said ‘thank you for explaining that’ – and her little boy said goodbye to me as we went out separate ways.”

On Wednesday afternoon, he says, someone who’s been outraged by his comments “turned up at my door, gave me a load of abuse and tried to throw a punch at me.”

As for his more inflammatory tweets, Mr Doyle claims they’re intended as a joke, which people who know him would understand as “that’s absolutely not who I am.”

“I’m not some far-right merchant, I’m not a mouthpiece for any kind of racism or radicalism,” he says. “If I was xenophobic I wouldn’t live in London.

“I have a Muslim neighbour who got burgled, and I was one of the first people to go around to help.”

However, he says he does believe Muslims aren’t doing enough to speak out against terrorism.

“The horror that happened in Brussels could happen here,” he adds, “and your naive if you think London isn’t on some terror shortlist.”…

2 Middle East Refugees Arrested Terror-Related Charges

In November, when the debate about the U.S. taking in 10,000 Syrian Refugees heated up, 29 Republican Governors (including Florida Governor Rick Scott), the Republican Presidential Candidates, U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan, and even I took a lot of heat for being opposed to President Obama on this issue.

Conservative opposition focused on the belief that, due to the FBI’s warning that the Federal Government lacked the ability to properly vet refugees, this was simply too much of a national security risk to the United States.

At the time, the left (and the media) directly attacked Conservatives for being “insensitive”. Well….just minutes ago, CNN reported some very concerning news about two Middle East “refugee” terrorists. This story, posted below, validates the concern about the Federal Government’s inability to properly screen Middle East refugees.

Feds arrest two Middle East refugees on terror-related charges

U.S. federal authorities arrested two refugees on terror-related charges Thursday.

The arrests in Sacramento and Houston did not appear to be directly related, but the cases had several similarities.

Both men were Palestinians born in Iraq and living as refugees in the United States, according to the U.S. Justice Department. And both of them are accused of lying to immigration officials about their alleged ties to terrorist organizations.

Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan, 24, of Houston, is charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS.

Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, 23, of Sacramento, California, is charged with making a false statement involving international terrorism.

It was not immediately clear whether Hardan or Jayab had retained legal representation. They are both scheduled to appear in courts on Friday.
