Charlie Kirk Revealed As Top Trending Google Search Of 2025

Google revealed that assassinated Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk was the top trending search on its engine for 2025.

Google announced that Kirk beat out other search queries such as Democratic mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani of New York City, the Netflix film “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” the iPhone 17 and the 43-day fall government shutdown. Authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, early in the morning of Sept. 12, accusing him of fatally shooting Kirk during a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University two days earlier.

Kirk’s assassination was the third-most searched item for when it came to news, according to Google’s Year in Search 2025 report. It drew more searches than the wildfires that tore through the Los Angeles area in January, the selection of the new pope by the Roman Catholic Church, the Jeffey Epstein files, President Donald Trump’s inauguration for his second term, and the tariffs Trump imposed in April.

Kirk was also the top search when it came to those who passed away, ranking ahead of notable people like actors Michelle Trachtenberg, Val Kilmer, Gene Hackman and Diane Keaton, wrestler Hulk Hogan, Pope Francis and Food Network host Anne Burrell.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, who succeeded her late husband as CEO of the conservative student group, ranked fourth in trends for people, beating out Pope Leo XIV, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and ABC late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Robinson, the TPUSA founder’s alleged assassin, ranked second among trending people on Google in 2025.

TPUSA has reportedly received over 100,000 inquiries about starting chapters since the Sept. 10 assassination of Kirk.

Radical Left-Wing Nonprofits Out Themselves Following Trump’s Executive Crackdown

Hundreds of far-left nonprofits signed an open letter condemning President Donald Trump’s September memo cracking down on domestic terrorism and organized political violence.

“Political violence is unacceptable. But efforts by the president of the United States to defund, discredit, and dismantle nonprofit groups he simply disagrees with are reprehensible and dangerous,” the letter stated.

Trump’s Sept. 25 National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-7) establishes a “national strategy to investigate and disrupt networks, entities, and organizations that foment political violence.”

The memo empowers the National Joint Terrorism Task Force to “investigate potential federal crimes relating to acts of recruiting or radicalizing persons for the purpose of: political violence, terrorism, or conspiracy against rights; or the violent deprivation of any citizen’s rights.”

A “pattern of violent and terroristic activities” is hidden under the self-described commitment to “anti-fascism,” and that such language is used to “portray foundational American principles as ‘fascist’ to justify and encourage acts of violent revolution,” the memo asserted.

The directive specifically pointed to “organized campaigns,” and the alleged networks behind political violence and domestic terrorism.

“Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality,” the memo continued.

Trump designated Antifa as a terrorist organization in September.

While the memo sparked backlash on the left, the directive does not create new laws and states it will be “implemented consistent with applicable law.”

Some of the groups that signed the letter opposing Trump’s directive promoted anti-Israel causes, supported riots across the country or advocated for the mutilation of children through “gender affirming care.”

Several chapters with the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) signed the letter slamming Trump’s memo. CAIR’s Executive Director, Nihad Awad, reportedly said he was “happy to see” Hamas attack Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) signed the letter, and its co-founder Hatem Bazian also founded Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) and is a professor at UC Berkeley.

AMP allegedly admitted to funding the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace, according to a report from the Institute for the Study of Global Anti-Semitism and Policy. Jewish Voice for Peace was involved in the occupation of the U.S. Capitol building in 2023.

AMP was held in civil contempt Monday by the Richmond City Circuit Court for allegedly refusing to comply with investigations into accusations “that the organization may have used solicited funds for impermissible purposes.”

The Daily Caller reached out to AMP but has not heard back as of publication.

The Non-Government Organization (NGO) Monitor found that the Arab Resource & Organizing Center (AROC), another signatory of the letter, features a quote on its website from the former spokesperson of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine — a U.S. designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) — and spread similar propaganda to the youth arm of the organization.

Other organizations listed are focused on domestic issues, specifically opposing law enforcement.

The Center for Policing Equity co-signed another letter condemning systemic “state-sanctioned violence” of “brutality and fatality upon Black people since our nation’s founding” during the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests of 2020.

The Sunrise Movement, another signatory of the letter opposing Trump, is a youth movement whose “demands” include “[abolishing] the police,” according to its website. The group also supported the Antifa-tied Stop Cop City/Defend the Atlanta Forest coalition, according to a Capital Research Center report.

statement from the Black Alliance for Just Immigration condemned Trump’s mass deportation operation targeting illegal aliens as “violent ICE raids terrorizing communities” across the country. It also said U.S. Customs and Border Protection has a “history of using racist law enforcement methods.”

Trump’s memo cited recent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, California, and Portland, Oregon, as justification for the directive, stating there has been over a “1,000 percent increase in attacks on [ICE] officers” since the beginning of Trump’s second administration.

Other signatories are advocating for sex changes for minors amid Trump’s federal crackdown on those procedures.

The President of the Funders for LGBTQ Issues, which has an “Out in the South” initiative, co-wrote a 2024 article lamenting legislation “targeting health care access” in Grant Makers in Health.

The article pointed to the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Trans Youth Emergency Project (TYEP) as a positive example, noting they provide “personalized support and emergency grants to transgender youth and their families” to support “clinic visits and travel costs.”

Another group, the Alliance for TransYouth Rights, states on its website that it is “fighting for our children’s right to equal access and equal treatment.” The group co-sponsored a California state bill they called “Affirming a Minor’s Gender Identity,” according to the website.

The alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, has a boyfriend who identifies as a transgender woman. Trump’s national security memo specifically pointed to Kirk’s murder, and how his alleged killer wrote phrasings like “hey fascist! CATCH!” on bullet casings, according to Utah officials.

Other organizations included in the signatures are CodePink, which reportedly has links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and ClimateVoice, a project of Tides Center.

The Tides Center has funded far-left organizations across the country, including CodePink and Jewish Voice for Peace.

“The United States requires a national strategy to investigate and disrupt networks, entities, and organizations that foment political violence so that law enforcement can intervene in criminal conspiracies before they result in violent political acts,” Trump’s September memo stated.

Left-Wing Militias Are Hiding Right Under Our Noses

Several far-left groups — from socialists to anarchists — are uniting right in the heart of Utah, one of the nation’s most conservative states.

President Donald Trump designated Antifa a “major terrorist organization” Wednesday following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. There are a litany of other leftist, anarchist groups throughout the country — some of which are armed.

Less than an hour away in Salt Lake City, Utah, various radical left-wing groups have established a presence, including the Armed Queers Salt Lake City (SLC).

The organization, which apparently took down its Instagram account following Kirk’s assassination, was investigated for possible connections to his murder, a law enforcement source confirmed to the New York Post.

A student organizer with the group, Ermiya Fanaeian, told The Daily Utah Chronicle in 2024 that threatening power requires “disruption.”

“We have seen many great examples of peaceful protest, throughout history,” she said. “And it’s not to discredit any of that. But I think in order for us to pose a threat to power … there needs to be some form of disruption.”

Another far-left organization in Salt Lake City that encourages the use of firearms is the Utah chapter of the Socialist Rifle Association (SRA).

The national group boasts 10,000 members, and its members have ties to at least four crimes — including the alleged firebombing of Tesla dealerships, according to a report from the Daily Wire.

The Utah SRA spent the summer raising money for “Artruro Gamboa, an anti-racist accused of murder,” according to a social media post.

Police alleged that Gamboa refused to drop a rifle at the request of an armed safety volunteer at a Salt Lake City “No Kings” rally, according to The Guardian.

Gamboa allegedly ran into a crowd of demonstrators before the safety volunteer fired his weapon and accidentally killed a protester, according to the outlet, citing police. Officers arrested Gamboa after he allegedly fled the scene, and he was accused of creating the situation that resulted in the death an attendee, the report stated.

A post shared by SRA – Utah Chapter (@utahsra)

Although the national SRA claims it has no affiliation with its subreddit, the forum serves as a place where members can discuss political issues with members across the country. SRA also contends that it is not a militia.

Following Kirk’s assassination, one reddit discussion responded to Cox’s call to “disagree better” by claiming they are “at war.”

Comments from members of the subreddit shared now-debunked claims that the alleged shooter was right-wing.

One commenter stated, “we literally can’t coexist with fascists,” while another shared articles from left-wing news outlets claiming “toxic rhetoric” and “anger” was spiking among the right.

“Train as often as possible. Because make no mistake, right-wing violence will be skyrocketing over the next few months and years,” the user said.

The Salt Lake chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (SLDSA) is another prominent local left-wing group.

The chapter’s bylaws state that its purpose is to “facilitate the transition to a truly democratic and socialist society.”

Its bylaws also condemn “violence that defends the status quo” and violence “against another member.” However, it appears to not display a stance on condemning violence toward nonmembers or as a form of resistance against “an economic order based on private profit, alienated labor, gross inequalities of wealth and power, racial and sexual discrimination.”

“When we fight, you say we win,” SLDSA co-chair Matty Jackson chanted with a crowd at a Labor Day protest.

“We must to ask ourselves constantly, what would it take for us to fight back? What will make the whole [working class] fight back? What will convince someone to put something real at risk?” Jackson said.

“[Employers] are part of a whole capitalist class that fights us in the courts, in the state, in the government, who own the homes we live in,” he added.

The Daily Caller asked the chapter if it condemned political violence, but has not heard back as of publication.

Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said the suspect in custody for the assassination of Kirk held strong left-leaning beliefs. The alleged gunman carved “Hey, fascist! Catch!” onto one of the bullet casings.

On Sunday, SLDSA announced the postponement of its Socialist Night School session on the “prison industrial complex” due to “recent events” and “public safety.”

A Sept. 1 blog post shared on the SLDSA site posed the question: “How, without taking up arms, can I truly call myself a revolutionary?”

“The question sits at the back of my mind, and no doubt, most likely yours,” the author wrote. The post ultimately concluded that the most revolutionary act is creating art, and it urged readers to be “relentless in your rebellion.”

Another group, the Palestinian Solidarity Forum of Utah, started the “Anti-Zionism Challenge” in July, where the forum aims to dismantle “Zionism” and “Nazi ideology”.” It advocates for “every restaurant, shop, bar and business should ban Zionism.”

“Apathy is no longer an excuse,” the social media post continued.

“Nazis aren’t allowed to unmask and exist in public. They aren’t welcome and need to be shamed out of existence,” the post added.

There are a variety of smaller left-wing groups in Utah.

Utah’s Pagans for Change and Witches for Change, for example, have protested Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee with signs calling him a “fascist liar” and a “little b*tch.”

Websites like “A Radical Guide” function as a map for left-wing groups around the world. The project asserts that its vision is for “interconnected communities” working together for “liberation, dismantling systems of oppression and creating lasting social transformation.”

One Salt Lake City group listed on the platform is the Salt Lake City Free Skool, which holds free classes on various subjects and describes itself as “a small community of mostly radical minded folx.”

Another organization listed on the website is Boing! Anarchist Collective.

The collective invites those who are “inspired by people who have acted outside of the legal system to achieve liberation” and “hesitant to resign yourself to a pacified and glorified form of dissidence” to join their program.

ABC Pulls Jimmy Kimmel Off Air Over Charlie Kirk Comments

Disney’s ABC announced Wednesday that it is indefinitely pulling Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show following his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

The move comes after one of the biggest owners of TV stations in the U.S., Nexstar Media Group, said Wednesday it had decided to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from its owned and partner ABC-affiliated stations. In a press release, Nexstar Broadcasting Division President Andrew Alford called Kimmel’s comments “offensive and insensitive” and said the decision was made to “let cooler heads prevail.”

“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Alford said.

“Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue,” Alford added.

According to CNBC, an ABC spokesman told the outlet that the show will be “pre-empted indefinitely.”

During his Monday evening monologue to the audience, Kimmel said the “MAGA gang” had hit “new lows,” as he claimed that Republicans had attempted to characterize Kirk’s alleged assassin as “anything other than one of them.”

“We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize  this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism. But on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”

Kimmel then played a clip of President Donald Trump discussing how he was “holding up” after the murder of Kirk, whom he had been close to. As the audience laughed, Kimmel mocked Trump’s reaction, saying it resembled how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.

Prior to the arrest of Kirk’s alleged assassin, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, officials revealed bullet casings from the rifle used to kill Kirk contained a series of phrases such as “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “If you read this you are gay LMAO.” A third bullet casing also had the engraving of  “bella ciao,” which matches an Italian song name that became a left-wing anthem during World War II.

Amid online speculation from Democrats that Robinson might have been a radical right-winger, the 22-year-old was officially arrested Friday. At a press conference, Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said Robinson “was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology” and had increasingly become political, viewing Kirk as “full of hate and spreading hate.”

Text messages released by officials on Tuesday as authorities had officially brought charges forward against Robinson, revealed an alleged conversation between him and his transgender roommate.

In one message to his roommate, Robinson allegedly told the roommate to look under his keyboard for a note that allegedly said, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

“I had enough of his hatred,” Robinson allegedly texted to the roommate. “Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

Kimmel has long criticized Trump and his administration, previously having to backtrack on comments about billionaire Elon Musk.

In March, during his monologue, the late-night host mocked Musk’s interview with Fox’s Sean Hannity, which addressed a rise in riots targeting Tesla vehicles following Department of Government Efficiency cuts.

Musk had suggested the incidents were linked to mental illness in the U.S., while Kimmel appeared to justify the unrest, saying people “get mad” when “you pull out a chainsaw to celebrate firing thousands of people.”

“My god, I mean, this poor guy. You do one, maybe two Nazi salutes, everybody gets all bent out of shape!” Kimmel added.

However, after facing online backlash, Kimmel later told his audience, “please don’t vandalize Tesla,” pausing with a sarcastic facial expression that some interpreted as subtly endorsing the idea.

ABC did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
