EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Clyde Says ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ Prevents Dems From Fixing D.C. Crime Crisis

Republican Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde said Friday that “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is “so strong” among Democrats that they will continue to resist President Donald Trump’s efforts to reduce violent crime in Washington, D.C., regardless of how it impacts their voters.

Clyde told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview that while Trump and Republicans want to “restore law and order” to the nation’s capital, the Democratic Party has been prioritizing “cheering on” those who commit crimes. The Georgia Republican added that Democrats are “supporting criminals” while the GOP and Trump are moving to help “law-abiding citizens.”

“It goes to show you how vastly different the two sides are,” Clyde told the DCNF. “Here you have President Trump and the Republicans wanting to restore law and order, wanting to make the city safe for the American people and for the residents of D.C. and you have the Democrats, who are there cheering on the criminals. And that is baffling to me, you know, I guess either Trump Derangement Syndrome is so strong for the Democrats that anything President Trump does, whether it helps them, you know, and helps their constituency or not, they’re going to oppose [it].”

“Here, his intent is to reduce violent crime, to make the city more safe. I mean, how many people were murdered on average in a week in the city every week in the city of Washington, D.C.? Anywhere from one to three? And we had a couple of weeks there where no one was murdered, so how many lies were actually saved during those two weeks?” Clyde continued. “You know, it’s pretty evident that the Democrats here are supporting the criminals and the Republicans and the president are supporting law-abiding citizens and so I think the country really needs to see that. And I think the country will side with Republicans and the president.”

Trump has been spearheading an effort to stamp out violent crime in Washington, D.C., including moving in August to deploy National Guard troops to the nation’s capital in an effort to help reduce violent crime. Many Democrats have opposed the president’s efforts to tackle crime in the capital city, with some even claiming that the move is a “political liability” for the Republican Party.

Despite Trump’s ongoing crime crackdown facing opposition from many Democrats, some recent polling has indicated that many voters approve of his approach to handling crime.

On Wednesday, Clyde introduced the Commonsense Law Enforcement and Accountability Now in D.C. (CLEAN D.C.) Act, which would repeal the D.C. City Council’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Emergency Amendment Act of 2022. Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz introduced companion legislation in the Senate on Wednesday.

The D.C. Council’s 2022 law notably prohibits the use of some neck restraints by law enforcement officers and requires additional procedures related to body-worn cameras.

In 2023, Clyde and Republican New York Andrew Rep. Garbarino introduced a joint resolution of disapproval, H.J.Res. 42, to block the D.C. Council’s crime law, which he had referred to as an “anti-police measure,” the Daily Caller first reported in March 2023. Then-Sen. JD Vance introduced the companion bill in the Senate in May 2023.

Although the legislation passed both the House of Representatives and Senate with bipartisan support in 2023, former President Joe Biden vetoed the resolution in May 2023.

“Well, back in 2020, the D.C. City Council with the riots across the land, et cetera. The D.C. City Council passed an ordinance that was basically an anti-police ordinance,” Clyde explained to the DCNF. “Actually, they passed two of them. One was the revised criminal code act of D.C., which eliminated all mandatory minimum sentences for violent crime. Other than, you know, everything second degree murder and down.”

“And that would have simply increased the crime that we are already seeing in the city, and it made no sense whatsoever,” he added. “It was a radically left-wing piece of legislation, and so we led a congressional review act to take it down and to eliminate it and it was successful.”

Clyde told the DCNF that the D.C. Council’s police law is “very much an anti-police act.”

“The D.C. Police Union was very much against it [the D.C. Council’s police law] because they knew that their officers would be hurt by it,” the congressman said. “So we led a Congressional Review Act to eliminate that as well back in 2023.”

Clyde noted that the 2023 bill “passed in a bipartisan way, with 14 Democrat votes on the House side and then … in the Senate as well, with eight Democrat Senators voting for it. Then it went to President  Biden’s desk and he vetoed it.”

“And the reason he [Biden] gave was that he wanted the D.C. City Council to be able to determine their own destiny for the city of Washington, D.C. Well, there’s a problem with that. In the Constitution, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 says that Congress has the exclusive legislative authority over the city of Washington, D.C.,” Clyde told the DCNF. “He [Biden] actually wants the city council to be in charge of a city that is supposed to be for all Americans.”

“The city of Washington, D.C. was designed through our Constitution, not to be just a city for the residents, but it was to be a city for all of America,” the lawmaker added.

Clyde went on to say that the main goal of his CLEAN D.C. Act is to keep Washington, D.C. “safe” and ensure that the city council will “respect the job” that local law enforcement officers do.

“I’m pretty excited, actually, and I like the fact that the prior co-sponsor of that in the Senate is now our vice president, you know? So it’s pretty cool,” Clyde said. “I believe he’s gonna see a bill that he sponsored in the Senate, come to be made law by the president under which he serves now.”

“I think that’s a pretty cool aspect of it, but the entire point of the bill is to make the city of Washington, D.C. more safe,” he added. “That’s it, and for the city council to respect the job that the law enforcement officer does because it is a very difficult job.”

“And with this act you know, still in place, it shows that they don’t,” Clyde said. “It shows that the city council does not have or will not back law enforcement as they should be.”

What did the leftists and jihadis who ratcheted up the anti-Israel hysteria to unprecedented levels think would be the outcome? This. This is exactly what they wanted to happen, and there will be more of it.

“Report: Shooter of Embassy Workers in Washington Wore Keffiyeh, Shouted ‘Free Palestine,’” Ynet News, May 21, 2025:

The news site ‘Jewish Insider’ reported that the shooter who attacked two embassy employees outside the Jewish museum in Washington was wearing a keffiyeh and shouted ‘Free Palestine’ before striking them.

“Israeli embassy staff among two killed in shooting outside Jewish Museum in Washington,” by Sarah Moskowitz, Jerusalem Post, May 22, 2025:

A man and a woman were shot and killed in front of the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington on Wednesday night, NBC News reported. At least one of those killed was a staff member at the Israeli embassy.

Two Israeli embassy staff were shot at close range, Axios reporter Barak Ravid said on X, citing an Israeli embassy spokesperson.

The shooting occurred in front of the museum where an event was being held by the American Jewish Committee.

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force is currently investigating the incident, ABC News reported.

At least one of the people shot is believed to be a member of the Israeli embassy staff, according to reports from US media.

Law enforcement sources said that police are questioning a person of interest.

ABC added that US Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting took place.

“Praying for the victims of this violence as we work to learn more,” Bondi shared on X/Twitter.

‘Act of antisemitic terror’
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon reacted to the incident on X, calling it an “act of antisemitic terror.”

D.C. Mayor Hid ‘In-Kind Donation’ from Islamic Terror State

Qatar paid more than $61,000 for Mayor Bowser’s trip to Doha.

During the pandemic, we already found out that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser likes the nightlife, but her travel took her to an Islamic terror state as part of an ‘in-kind donation’.

7News has discovered that the nation of Qatar paid $61,930 for Mayor Bowser and four staff members to fly to the Middle East in 2023.

But not before Bowser tried covering it up.

As far as 7News has been able to discover during our ongoing investigation, Mayor Bowser doesn’t turn in any travel expense records at all.

First, Susana Castillo, the Mayor’s Director of Communications, told 7News in a July 9, 2024, email that the trip was paid for by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce.

That wasn’t true. Neither was this.

Days later, Castillo told 7News over the phone that the U.S. Conference of Mayors picked up the tab. The Conference of Mayors had no comment and told us to talk to the mayor’s office.

And then it gets worse.

Then comes a letter, 7News obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated March of this year from the nation of Qatar to the mayor’s office.

It shows the nation of Qatar paid more than $61,000 for Mayor Bowser’s trip to Doha in 2023, which included travel expenses for four staff members.

Qatar called it an “in-kind donation”.

Followed by yet another retroactive cover-up.

Now comes this letter, from February, sent to officials in Qatar amid our investigation. In the letter, the mayor’s office asks for a breakdown of the mayor’s 2023 trip expenses and the total tab covered by the Middle Eastern country.

Bowser’s office explains that such “donations” must be properly recorded, and a donation agreement will have to be executed.

7News would like to know why the mayor’s office is asking to create a Donation Agreement in 2025 for a trip she took in 2023. A situation that directly violates Mayor Bowser’s memorandum on rules of conduct governing donations requires that each donation be submitted and approved by the Office of Partnerships and Grant Services before the city can enter into a Donation Agreement.

All of this is being done with Qatar, an Islamic terrorist state, the state sponsor of Hamas, with ties to other Islamic terrorist groups, and which harbored the 9/11 mastermind.

Qatar has been buying influence in the United States and clearly Mayor Bowser was happy to go along.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Thanksgiving posted a flashback of her reciting an Islamic prayer at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Washington, DC, as part of a service she attended in January.

Omar attended what was described as a “multi-faith” gathering which drew a number of high profile attendees like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Rep. Donna Shalala (D-FL), and many more:

On Thanksgiving, Omar posted a flashback video, featuring the freshman lawmaker reciting an Islamic prayer at the service.

“Alhamdullilah [praise be to Allah] for the opportunity to serve my constituents, to care for my children and have a wonderful love in my life,” Omar tweeted alongside the video.

“This is a prayer a read on the start of Congress and feel grounded in its blessings,” she continued. “Thank you all for standing with me and for our progressive movement!”:

“There is a prayer in Islam that says, ‘Allah, put courage into my heart, and take away all that might hinder serving you,’” Omar stated in the video. “Free my tongue to proclaim your goodness, that all may understand me.”

“Give me friends to advise and help me, that by working together our efforts may bear abundant fruit,” she continued. “And, above all, let me constantly remember that my actions are worthless, unless they are guided by your hand.”

“Allah, may everything that I do start well and finish well. Sustain me with your power,” she continued….

Obama Administration supports Radical Islam: State Department Hosts Pro-Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian Contingent

Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C., we had more evidence of the Administration’s policy of appeasing Muslim Brotherhood opponents of the Al-Sisi government in Cairo, the latter seeking to reform radical Islamic doctrine espousing Salafist Jihad.  Adam Kredo of the Washington Free Beacon reported this latest example of outreach to Radical Islamist groups in the Ummah, “Muslim Brotherhood-Aligned Leaders Hosted at State Department:”

One member of the delegation, a Brotherhood-aligned judge in Egypt, posed for a picture while at Foggy Bottom in which he held up the Islamic group’s notorious four-finger Rabia symbol, according to his Facebook page.

That delegation member, Waleed Sharaby, is a secretary-general of the Egyptian Revolutionary Council and a spokesman for Judges for Egypt, a group reported to have close ties to the Brotherhood.

The delegation also includes Gamal Heshmat, a leading member of the Brotherhood, and Abdel Mawgoud al-Dardery, a Brotherhood member who served as a parliamentarian from Luxor.

Sharaby, the Brotherhood-aligned judge, flashed the Islamist group’s popular symbol in his picture at the State Department and wrote in a caption: “Now in the U.S. State Department. Your steadfastness impresses everyone,” according to an independent translation of the Arabic.

Another member of the delegation, Maha Azzam, confirmed during an event hosted Tuesday by the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID)—another group accused of having close ties to the Brotherhood—that the delegation had “fruitful” talks with the State Department.

Note this comment of Eric Trager of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy:

“Maha Azzam confirms that ‘anti-coup’ delegation, which includes 2 top [Muslim Brothers], had ‘fruitful’ conversations at State Dept,” Egypt expert Eric Trager tweeted.

“The State Department continues to speak with Muslim Brothers on the assumption that Egyptian politics are unpredictable, and the Brotherhood still has some support in Egypt,” he said. “But when pro-Brotherhood delegations then post photos of themselves making pro-Brotherhood gestures in front of the State Department logo, it creates an embarrassment for the State Department.”

Sam Tadros, Egypt expert at the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom in Washington, DC commented:

“I think the Muslim Brotherhood visit serves two goals,” Tadros said. “First, organizing the pro Muslim Brotherhood movement in the U.S. among the Egyptian and other Arab and Muslim communities.”

“Secondly, reaching out to administration and the policy community in D.C.,” Tadros said. “The delegation’s composition includes several non-official Muslim Brotherhood members to portray an image of a united Islamist and non-Islamist revolutionary camp against the regime.”

Counter terrorism expert, Patrick Poole said:

What this shows is that the widespread rejection of the Muslim Brotherhood across the Middle East, particularly the largest protests in recorded human history in Egypt on June 30, 2013, that led to Morsi’s ouster, is not recognized by the State Department and the Obama administration,” Poole said.

“This is a direct insult to our Egyptian allies, who are in an existential struggle against the Muslim Brotherhood, all in the pursuit of the mythical ‘moderate Islamists’ who the D.C. foreign policy elite still believe will bring democracy to the Middle East,” Poole said.

It is beyond time for the GOP-controlled Congress to investigate why the Administration deigns to provide auspices to invite Egyptian and other foreign Muslim Brotherhood leaders to meet publicly with White House National Security and State Department officials in Washington. This latest example continues the impression that the Obama Administration supports Radical Islamic doctrine.  It is a further example of how far the Administration has gone in fostering infiltration of Muslim Brotherhood domestic and foreign groups in the U.S. enabling their  “messaging”.  All while this Administration persists in deracinating the vestiges of Jihad threat doctrine training for our military, homeland security and national law enforcement agencies.

“Moral Idiots” from Code Pink Disrupt Israeli Ambassador’s Speech at CUFI Gala

Last night, Christians United for Israel (CUFI) held their ninth annual Night to Honor Israel gala. This was  the kickoff event for the Christian Zionist group’s Washington Summit held at the DC convention Center.  More than 5,000 were in the audience, composed of CUFI delegates, honored speakers and guests. Having attended andwritten about the first CUFI Washington Summit, held in the midst of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, interspersed with Israeli music, dancing in the aisles and waving of American and Israel flags. That inaugural CUFI event was held at the convention center of  the Washington Hilton.

This year I watched it on-line at GETV reminiscing mentally about the inaugural event I attended. The remarks conveyed by speakers at the CUFI gala were punctuated by references to the war raging in Gaza. A war with IDF ground forces pitted against the fortified terrorist army of Hamas supported by Turkey and Qatar with rockets and engineering experts provided by Iran’s Quds Force and proxy Hezbollah.

Last night, hecklers from Code Pink somehow entered the Convention Center heckling Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer’s stem winding speech near the close of the two hour event. They shouted  “war Criminal!” Dermer, not missing a beat, referred to the hecklers as “moral Idiots.” That led to loud cheers of “Israel, Israel” by the CUFI audience.

Code Pink has perennially protested both AIPAC Washington Policy Conferences and CUFI Summit events. Code Pink representatives were involved with the aborted Free Gaza flotillas. Most notorious of which occurred in 2010 involving the Israeli navy commando raid on the Turkish ferry, the Mavi Marmara owned by Turkish Islamist charity and Hamas backer, IHH.

The CUFI Night to honor Israel last was an emotional gathering keyed to uplifting spirits and girding for battle citizens lobbying on Capitol Hill the following day. The CUFI delegate audience at the DC Convention Center traveled from across the US to hear rousing speakers led off by Pastor Hagee. The speeches were directed at energizing the delegates to charge up Capitol Hill the next day buttonholing Congressional Representatives and Senators endeavoring to stop funding of the Palestinian Authority and support funds for Israel’s Iron Dome system that has spared mass casualties in Israeli population centers. When cameras panned the audience I noticed Erick Stakelbeck, CBN’s noted terrorism commentator. Rabbi Jonathan Hausman was also in the audience.

The CUFI Night to Honor Israel began with an invocation by Rabbi Aryeh Scheinberg of orthodox Rodei Sholom Synagogue of San Antonio, Texas. That was followed by an introductory speech by his friend Pastor Hagee supportive of Israel’s Operation Protective Edge in Gaza. An Operation necessitated by Hamas’ rocket war covering 80 percent of Israel  and sending its citizens scrambling for shelter triggered by wailing red alert sirens or pings on their cell phones from a downloaded app. His message conveyed the hope that Israel’s ground incursion into Gaza world crush Hamas. Five days into ground operations, the IDF is faced with a daunting, tough slog with significant casualties deployed to destroy a network of tunnels crossing the frontier threatening Israeli Kibbutzim and towns in the western Negev. The creation of those expertly built tunnels with tons of concrete and steel appear to be taken from the playbook of Hezbollah, Iran’s proxy, who fortified Southern Lebanon after Israel left in 2000.

Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam were honored at last night’s CUFI event. They spoke of their appreciation for this flagship Christian Zionist organization founded by Pastor John Hagee of the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. US Sen. Lindsey Graham spoke about his first trip to Israel in 1996 with the Adelsons. He  drew attention to the threat of Iran’s nuclear weapons project and the necessity of picking up the cudgel of tougher sanctions given the extension this past weekend of P5+1 talks with Iran. CUFI’s Executive Director David Brog spoke of the rise of CUFI student chapters combating campus Israeli Apartheid Awareness Weeks and  BDS campaigns. He noted the disruption of former Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren’s speech in February 2010 at UCIrvine. Brog was followed by a speech by one of the 1,000 CUFI college chapter delegates from Mississippi   chronicling his path towards his campus leadership advocating  support Israel and Jews.

Near the close of the two hour CUFI gala came Amb. Dermer’s speech. He drew attention to the sobering loss of more than 27 fallen IDF soldiers in the ground incursion, among them two Americans, Max Steinberg of Woodland Hills, California, and Sean Carmeli from South Padre Island, Texas. 20,000 attended Carmeli’s funeral in Israel signifying solidarity and recognition of his commitment and those of his Golani Brigade mates to defeat Hamas. Dermer drew attention to Hamas’ strategy of purposefully placing human shields in front of launching sites and the extensive network of tunnels in Gaza, many with entrances in homes and apartment complexes. Tunnels designed to infiltrate suicide commandos inflicting casualties on IDF troops across the frontier and seeking to kill and kidnap Israel service personnel and civilians.

In response to hecklers from pro-Palestinian Jewish Voice for Peace and Code Pink, Amb. Dermer drew a comparison to the London blitz of WWII and the Nazi  V -1 and 2 flying bombs and rockets that took the lives of tens of thousands of brave British civilians. Jacob Kornbluh in his JP- Jewish Politics News and Updates report captured Dermer’s remarks:

During his speech, which was interrupted several times by code pink hecklers, Ambassador Dermer emphasized that no military in history has taken greater care than the IDF to protect the innocents of the other side.

“Does anyone believe that America would use less force? Does anyone believe that Britain would use less force?” he asked.

Dermer drew a distinction between the responses Israel has shown for rockets being fired at its cities to Churchill’s response when bombarded by missiles fired by the Nazis on Britain during WWII. “I won’t accept criticism of Israel for not exercising restraint that would not be shown by any nation on earth.” “Israeli Defense Forces should be given a Nobel Peace prize for fighting with unimaginable restraint,” Dermer proclaimed.

Dermer referenced the “evil” of Hamas placing Palestinian civilians as human shields. He said it was part of a deliberate strategy directed at cultivating leftist groups of Jewish fellow travelers like the hecklers of his speech and the media with graphic pictures of injured or dead children and women aimed squarely at placing the blame on Israel. He said “it is time for the UN and the world to find a moral compass and backbone.” He drew attention to the rise of radical Islam, whether Shia Iran and proxy Hezbollah, Sunni ISIS and Hamas denying rights for women and  no tolerance for Jews and Christian. He noted the 35,000 Assyrian Chaldean Christians who fled Mosul conquered by the Islamic State for the security of Kurdistan in Iraq.

What occurred at CUFI’s Washington Gala was “a night to remember.” A night that honored Israel.
