Death in Tehran
The leaders of most of Iran’s terror proxies showed up in Tehran on Tuesday to kiss the ring of the new president, IRGC officer Masoud Pezeshkian, making sure their terror stipends would not be reduced.
His inaugural address, full of pabulums about renewing relations with the West (i.e., getting rid of sanctions) was dutifully met with a Greek chorus that belted out the real message: “Death to Israel, Death to America.”
Just ten hours later, it was “Death in Tehran” for visiting Hamas political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, asleep in a government guest house.
You won’t see me shedding any tears. But you will see Iranian leaders shaking in their boots.
According to the New York Times, which cited Western security officials as well as government sources in Tehran, Haniyeh was killed by a bomb at had been smuggled into the building two months earlier! Once again, Israel has demonstrated the long-arm of its intelligence apparatus.
A precision airstrike took out the Hezbollah leader who had orchestrated the deadly mortar attack on Madjal Shams that killed 12 Israeli children playing soccer. That’s two top Iranian-financed and directed mass murderers in less than 24-hours. Not bad for a day’s work.
Now the Iranian regime Supreme Leader has vowed revenge. Many of his top advisors (who never seem to make it to the front lines of Iran’s proxy wars) agreed that Israel must pay a price for its actions.
Will the Iranians attempt another direct strike against Israel? I didn’t believe they would after the Damascus attack in April and I was wrong, because I found it inconceivable that the Biden White House would actually give the Iranians a green light, which it turned out they did.
So I will make no predictions this time. However, I do note that the Israelis were careful to target Iran’s terror proxies, not the Iranians themselves. (Yes, apparently an IRGC officer was killed in the Beirut attack that eliminated Hezbollah terror planner Fuad Shukr, but hey, be careful of the company you keep).
The message, if the Iranians chose to listen, is that we can strike our enemies anywhere, at any time. So far, we are not attacking you directly. Is that what you want?
I hear it’s open enrollment at the local Mossad recruitment office in Tehran, and the lines are blocks long.
That said, I am worried that Team Biden/Harris will stab Israel in the back, spouting support in public while secretly urging Iran to attack, with assurances that the US will keep Israel from responding.
I am not reassured by the latest probe by Republicans in Congress into Kamala Harris’s national security advisor, Philip Gordon, who has a solid pedigree of appeasing Tehran. Word on the street has it that should Harris defy the odds, common sense, and the laws of gravity and win in November, she will appoint Gordon as secretary of state. He will make Obama’s kowtowing to kings and dictators look like children’s gymnastics.
I discuss this, Turkish president Erdogan’s outrageous threats to sent military support to Hamas against Israel, and the lopsided US-Russia-German prisoner exchange (we get journalists and human rights activists, they get assassins and criminals) on this week’s Prophecy Today Weekend.
It’s a packed show. You can listen live at 1 PM on Saturday on 104.9 FM or 550 AM in the Jacksonville, FL, area or by using the Jacksonville Way Radio app. Later on, you can listen to the podcast here.
(My broadcast host, Rick DeYoung, tells me that this week he has found way to turn down the cicadas that sing in the background from my summer quarters in France).
Yours in freedom.
