Kash Patel Seeks $250 Million From Outlet That Reported On His Alleged ‘Excessive Drinking’

FBI Director Kash Patel filed a lawsuit against The Atlantic on Monday, describing the outlet’s article on his tenure at the agency as “a sweeping, malicious, and defamatory hit piece” in court documents.

The Atlantic published an article Friday detailing alleged “alarm” among Patel’s colleagues over his drinking, and reporting that the FBI Director is concerned that his job is “in jeopardy.” Patel denies the reporting and has filed suit seeking $250 million in damages. The lawsuit names both the publication and reporter Sarah Fitzpatrick, accusing them of publishing “false and obviously fabricated allegations designed to destroy Director Patel’s reputation and drive him from office.”

“Fitzpatrick could not get a single person to go on the record in defense of these outrageous allegations, instead relying entirely on anonymous sources she knew to be both highly partisan with an ax to grind and also not in a position to know the facts,” reads the lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

“Defendants published the Article with actual malice, despite being expressly warned, hours before publication, that the central allegations were categorically false; despite having abundant publicly available information contradicting those allegations; despite obvious and fatal defects in their own sourcing; despite The Atlantic’s well-documented, long-running editorial animus toward Director Patel,” it says.

The article maintains that Patel’s alleged drinking forced FBI personnel to reschedule briefings and meetings. The Atlantic also maintained that his security detail requested breaching equipment normally used by SWAT teams due to their inability to get to the FBI director when doors were locked

“Prior to publication, the FBI expressly informed Defendants that each of these allegations was ‘totally false,’” the lawsuit argues. “The FBI further warned Defendants that these allegations echoed a similar fabrication previously aired by MSNBC’s Frank Figliuzzi on Morning Joe—anonymously sourced reporting that was later retracted by MSNBC and that is the subject of pending defamation litigation—yet Defendants published it anyway.”

Patel previously sued Figliuzzi, a former FBI official and analyst for the left-leaning cable network now known as MSNOW, in June 2025 over a May 2, 2025 comment Figliuzzi made during “Morning Joe” claiming Patel frequented nightclubs in Las Vegas.

The Atlantic issued a defiant statement on X Monday after Patel filed the lawsuit.

“We stand by our reporting on Kash Patel, and we will vigorously defend The Atlantic and our journalists against this meritless lawsuit,” the outlet’s PR team posted on Monday.

Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief expressed similar sentiments when reached for comment by the Daily Caller News Foundation about Patel’s appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“We stand by our reporting on Kash Patel,” Goldberg said in a statement provided by a spokesperson.

The FBI declined to comment when reached for comment by the DCNF, while the Atlantic repeated the statement posted on X when reached for comment.

Patel, an avid hockey fan, came under partisan fire for celebrating with the U.S. Olympic Men’s Hockey Team after they won the gold medal against Team Canada during the Winter Olympics in February. Patel, who was seen drinking a beer during the locker-room celebration, was in Italy for meetings with Italian law enforcement officials.

EXCLUSIVE: Mike Benz Says Trump Admin Has ‘Once-In-Generation’ Chance To Put Deep State On Defense Post-Epstein Files

Former State Department official and investigative journalist Mike Benz warned time is running out for the Trump administration to expose government corruption before November’s midterm elections possibly hand Democrats congressional majorities.

Benz, who served in President Donald Trump’s first administration and is now the executive director of the Foundation of Freedom Online, told the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) there needs to be “a much heavier transparency drive” in order for much of Trump’s MAGA base to turn out to back Republicans in the midterms.

“I think that there have been a lot of amazing things this admin has done, certainly the first five months when Elon [Musk] was here,” Benz told the DCNF in a recent interview. “Things were moving at lighting pace. I think there’s been some frustration in the base when it comes to handling things like the Epstein files and the like.”

“I don’t think that the base would even flirt with voting for Democrats. The question is, ‘Is their disenchantment enough to sit home?’” he continued. “And that’s the thing the admin really has to solve. And I think the only way forward is by doubling down on the energy it had in the first four months of the admin rather than the last four months.”

Benz also specified Trump’s base is “looking for something transformative in these four years, rather than something that’s pure economic.”

“Those would include everything from major transparency drives around USAID, the State Department, the CIA and the FBI, things like continued Russiagate disclosures … things like Fast and Furious, things like the malfeasance of the John Brennan CIA, the Bill Burns CIA,” he continued, referring to the intelligence agency’s directors under former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, respectively.

Benz highlighted the importance of the Epstein files, the release of which authorized by a bipartisan bill Trump signed uncovered several stunning revelations. He also told the DCNF, however, the “collective fixation” with the files “is because there are not other disclosures of considerable consequence.”

“We should be having five million CIA files. We should be having five million State Department files. We should be having five million USAID files,” Benz emphasized. “The fact that it’s only the Epstein files — and even that at the barrel of a gun by congressional bill — is not as much as we could do.”

“I think those things— something that shows that … it’s okay to trust these institutions again,” he continued. “I think right now, a lot of people feel they’re being asked to trust without the reforms and accountability that a lot of people expected to be the antecedent.”

Benz named the CIA, FBI, State Department, Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security, and the now-effectively-dismantled USAID as agencies that should be investigated.

“I think we need a full historiography complete for the record. The admin has these records to disclose, and I think being able to show that would make people chew on those files. In the absence of that, fixations on things like the Epstein files, which are important, though they don’t change people’s day to day life as much as something like a major reveal of things that ended up in mass arrests, imprisonments, persecution of millions of people under the Biden admin,” Benz said.

When asked specifically to list what he would like to see exposed, Benz named former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Arctic Frost investigation — during which the FBI obtained phone records of Republican members of Congress — as well as “the censorship-industrial complex, issues around Russiagate, I would argue issues around Ukraine as well.”

“I think that issues around the attempt to overthrow governments like in Poland, Brazil, Hungary, what happened in Romania, what happened in France, what’s happening right now in Spain,” he added. “I think all of this needs to be made public. You have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do so.”

“And I think the time is now or else the mother will be lost,” Benz concluded.

In Wake Of ‘Russiagate’ Revelations, Americans Are Demanding Indictments — Who Could Be First?

Americans have called for officials to face consequences after the July declassification of documents regarding the intelligence community’s (IC) role in the false narrative that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election, but the Trump administration could face legal hurdles.

A recent poll found that more than two-thirds of Americans want someone held accountable for what is now deemed “Russiagate” — and with JD Vance’s Sunday claim that “a lot of people [are going to] get indicted,” people are curious to see who will be held accountable by the grand jury investigation.

Former President Barack Obama’s Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey could be high on a list of potential indictments.

Comey headed the agency during the initiation and primary phase of the investigations into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 election and accusations of potential connections between members of the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

Comey was directly involved in the investigation. He told Congress the FBI had not verified the now-debunked Steele dossier before using it to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant on Trump’s former campaign adviser Carter Page.

This FISA warrant allowed the FBI to conduct surveillance activities on Page, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) ultimately ruled the two final FISA directives against Page were invalid — including one Comey authorized in 2017.

In a July interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, law professor and author Jonathan Turley questioned whether the remarks made by both Comey and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan in their testimonies amounted to perjury.

Turley said both men are “sophisticated players” who are “very careful in how they word” their testimonies. They claimed in their testimonies there was no “malicious intent” in including the Steele dossier in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), but that mistakes may have been made, Turley told Ingraham.

“Comey portrayed himself as ignorant of all these countervailing sources,” Turley concluded.

Brennan might find himself in the same boat as Comey, especially given whistleblower accusations alleging Brennan played a key role in pushing for the dossier’s inclusion in the ICA.

Trump’s FBI launched a criminal investigation into Brennan and Comey in July, DOJ sources told Fox Digital. Two sources told the outlet the FBI viewed Comey and Brennan’s interactions as a “conspiracy,” but did not reveal specific details of what is being investigated.

President of Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, told the Daily Caller in an interview that investigating a conspiracy could open the door to related crimes, including perjury and the deprivation of civil rights under color of law.

Perjury is relatively easy to indict over, but not necessarily easy to convict, according to Fitton.

Even if any officials are indicted, there are still hurdles that need to be cleared, namely the statute of limitations, Fitton told the Caller. The standard statute of limitations (or the maximum amount of time to start the legal process) is five years, but the beginning of the Russian interference investigations was nearly 10 years ago.

To bypass the statute of limitations — which is necessary for turning indictments into convictions -— the accusers must prove the involved parties were participating in a conspiracy, not just “a series of desperate acts that don’t have any link” potentially woven together by the opposition party in political animus, Fitton told the Caller.

Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper wrote a July 30 op-ed in the New York Times (NYT) in an attempt to set the record straight. They claimed the Steele dossier was not used as a source or accounted for in the ICA’s analysis or conclusions, acknowledging the dossier was largely discredited.

However, a press release published by ODNI that same day claimed accompanying records show “Clapper and other senior Obama administration officials privately denounced the Steele dossier, despite simultaneously ensuring that the January 2017 ICA included it.”

These documents, like some of the other records declassified by the IC, are based on the testimony of a single, unnamed whistleblower — which could prove difficult in demonstrating malicious intent beyond a reasonable doubt.

A separate anonymous career intelligence officer who worked with House Intelligence Committee (HPSCI) Democrats told the FBI in 2017 that then-Democrat California Rep. Adam Schiff allegedly approved leaking classified information with the goal of indicting Trump, according to a memo released Monday.

Schiff’s Senate office previously told the Caller the accusation was a “baseless [smear]” and questioned the credibility of the whistleblower.

Former FBI Special Agent in Charge Jody Weis told NBC 15 on Tuesday that leaking information is a crime.

“Leaking information is a crime, no doubt about it,” Weis stated. “Leaking information with the intent to smear a president, with the intent to perhaps indict a president, that should terrify every American in this country, regardless of party.”

When the whistleblower’s accusation was initially brought before the DOJ, officials allegedly dismissed the allegation of the leaking, claiming, “congressmen have immunity to all speech and actions made on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives,” according to the FBI memos. The DOJ was referencing the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause.

Former intelligence officials are not the only ones who may face indictments. The recently declassified documents from the John Durham 2023 Special Counsel report annex may open the door for criminal charges against Clinton campaign staff and other individuals in the Obama administration.

Information recently released to the public suggested former President Barack Obama planned to snuff out the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information and her use of a private email server. Simultaneously, the records revealed the FBI failed to investigate information alleging the Democratic Party was planning to connect Trump to the “Russian mafia.”

But challenges can still arise in obtaining convictions, even though analysts assessed the declassified emails were authentic, according to documents.

The plaintiff still needs to overcome the statute of limitations and would have to show the courts, beyond a reasonable doubt, the defendant’s alleged actions met the high legal standard for criminal intent.

As the head of a public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, Fitton offered advice on how the Trump administration could overcome many of these hurdles, potentially obtaining indictments or even convictions.

Fitton told the Caller that by focusing their attention on the accusations of criminal activity in 2016, the administration is missing the “low-hanging fruit” of more recent corruption targets.

“To get at what happened in 2016 is gonna be very complicated; to get out what happened last year, that’s easy,” Fitton told the Caller. “There’s no statute of limitations, so you don’t have to weave in a grand conspiracy claim.”

Fitton gave examples of places the administration should focus its attention, including former Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland’s unprosecuted referral for contempt and Comey’s Instagram post that Fitton claimed “basically threatened the president’s life.”

As for “Russiagate,” Fitton called for Trump to “appoint a special counsel that reports directly to him” to tackle the issue.

“The Justice Department is compromised because they’re going to have to investigate themselves in many of these issues, so is the FBI. So he’s got to have someone who’s free and clear of those bureaucracies, but with all the powers that come with the presidency and prosecuting cases, and that’s done through a presidential special counsel,” Fitton told the Caller.

“Because of the deep state actors that are still floating around … there has to be a more direct presidential intervention,” he added.

Defense Intelligence Agency Employee Charged With Trying To Send Classified Data To Foreign Government

FBI officials announced Thursday that a 28-year-old Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) employee was arrested for allegedly attempting to transmit national defense information to an officer or agent of a foreign government, according to a press release.

The suspect, identified as Nathan Vilas Laatsch, was arrested in northern Virginia following an investigation launched after a tip that someone had “offered to provide classified information to a friendly foreign government.” In a statement posted to X, FBI Director Kash Patel said the case highlights “the persistent risk of insider threats.”

“This case underscores the persistent risk of insider threats. The FBI remains steadfast in protecting our national security and [many] thanks [to] our law enforcement partners for their critical support,” Patel wrote.

According to officials, court documents show Laatsch had been employed by the DIA since 2019, working in its Insider Threat Division and holding a Top Secret security clearance.

In March, the FBI received a tip about a potential threat and discovered an email in which the sender said he did not “agree or align with the values of this administration” and was “willing to share classified information,” including “completed intelligence products, some unprocessed intelligence and other assorted classified documentation.”

Laatsch unknowingly began communicating with an undercover FBI agent, believing they were an official of the foreign government. The 28-year-old allegedly transcribed classified information onto a notepad at his desk and, over the course of approximately three days, repeatedly exfiltrated the information from his workspace.

By May, Laatsch was surveilled by the FBI at a drop location, handing off a thumb drive containing classified information, according to officials.

“Following Laatsch’s departure, the FBI retrieved the item, which was a thumb drive later found to contain a message from Laatsch and multiple typed documents, each containing information that was portion-marked up to the Secret or Top Secret levels,” the press release states. “The message from Laatsch indicated that he had chosen to include “a decent sample size” of classified information to “decently demonstrate the range of types of products” to which he had access.”

Between May 15 and May 27, Laatsch allegedly gathered more classified information, telling the undercover agent he would consider “citizenship for your country” or “other compensation.” As the 28-year-old prepared to deliver a second batch of materials on Thursday, FBI officials then arrested the former DIA employee.

Since President Donald Trump returned to office in January, several federal departments have faced internal leaks. In February, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem suggested that “corrupt” FBI agents were behind a leaked memo detailing a planned large-scale ICE raid in the Los Angeles area.

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Noem said DHS had identified “some” of the leakers and warned there would be consequences for those involved.

“We are continuing to get more. They will be fired. There will be consequences. And remember, when they leak information to the press in order to blow an op, they are putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy,” Noem said. “They are risking their lives and putting their families in the position where they have to live without those individuals any further.”

Trump 2.0 Takes Chainsaw To The Deep State With Historic Cuts Of Staff, Budgets

The intelligence community is quietly undergoing structural changes as agencies tackle government bloat, reorganize departments and dismantle the Biden administration’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

One of Trump’s first directives targeted weaponization in the federal government, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) — which oversees the IC — is focused on uprooting the politicization of the agency.

DNI Tulsi Gabbard launched the Director’s Initiatives Group (DIG) in April to end government weaponization and increase transparency, and she recently announced that the agency is now 25% leaner.

“The 25% reduction in the staff includes both permanent ODNI cadre officers and detailees from other IC elements, who will be returned to their home agencies as ODNI streamlines its mission space,” a source familiar told the Daily Caller.

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe is also eying politicization and potential waste in his agency.

“Director Ratcliffe has made it clear that the CIA will pursue President Trump’s national security priorities with laser-like focus,” CIA spokeswoman Liz Lyons told the Daily Caller. “The Agency is determined to provide the President with an unparalleled intelligence advantage and, under Director Ratcliffe, we are aggressively doing just that.”

Ratcliffe vowed to restructure the CIA to “eliminate” politicization during a recent cabinet meeting with the president.

Similarly, Deputy Director Michael Ellis warned against politicization in a February message to CIA staff, noting their work needs “to be free from politics, bias, or any other distraction.”

Conservatives have accused the IC of politicization for years.

The FBI relied on the since since-debunked Steele dossier to accuse former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page, of being a Russian agent. The bureau also reportedly surveilled school board parents and raided the homes of pro-life protesters.

Fifty-one former officials signed a letter casting doubt on the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s emails, falsely claiming it had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation, even though when Ratcliffe served as DNI during Trump’s first term, he determined there was no evidence Hunter Biden’s laptop was a “Russian disinformation campaign.”

Now, the IC is dealing with “deep state actors” leaking classified information to the press. Sources leaked to the The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) in May about the IC’s plans to surveille Greenland.

Gabbard slammed the leakers as “deep state actors” who are “politicizing and leaking classified information” in a statement to WSJ.

The CIA is being revamped, but Ratcliffe has not made the “kind of broad cuts” required of other agencies, a Thursday report from CNN claimed.

Although Trump’s federal workforce directives can include national security exemptions, Lyons told the Caller that Ratcliffe is zeroing-in on ways the agency can be more efficient.

“Under Director Ratcliffe, the CIA is implementing President Trump’s Executive Orders to ensure that the workforce is responsive to the Trump Administration’s national security priorities,” she stated. “Even if exemptions are available for national security reasons, the Director believes that CIA can improve efficiency, which is why he invited Mr. Musk to headquarters earlier this year for his insight.”

Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), visited the CIA and met with Ratcliffe in April to discuss DOGE’s efforts to improve government efficiency.

While the agency’s operations are often shrouded in secrecy, Ratcliffe fired officers involved in DEI and dismissed a CIA official who played a key role in Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for members of the military.

The Trump administration plans to reduce the CIA’s workforce by about 1,200 people over multiple years, The Washington Post reported, citing a source familiar.

Ratcliffe emphasized “meritocracy” in an unclassified March 31 CIA memo obtained by the Caller.

“Moving forward, you will be part of a smaller, more elite and efficient workforce,” he wrote. “We will need everyone at CIA to prioritize efforts that add the greatest value and reduce those we can no longer afford to do.”

He added that “the years of growing budgets and resources are behind [CIA].”

The CIA is also reorienting its focus toward Latin America, specifically the drug cartels. This is a shift from the past two decades, where the CIA has been primarily concerned with Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, the New York Times (NYT) reported in 2021.

Trump designated the cartels “Foreign Terrorist Organizations” in one of his first executive orders.

The CIA merged the Western Hemisphere Mission Center (WHMC) and the Counternarcotics Center (CNC) into one unit — the Americas and Counternarcotics Mission Center (ACMC), according to an unclassified April 14 CIA memo obtained by the Caller.

Trump expects the agency to “play a prominent role” in targeting transnational cartels, the memo noted.

The CIA has reportedly been operating a covert drone program to identify fentanyl laboratories in Mexico, anonymous officials told the NYT.

The agency is considering using “lethal force” against Mexican drug cartels, a U.S. official and three people familiar told CNN in April. The CIA is reviewing its authorities and assessing the potential risks of targeting the cartels, according to the outlet.

The agency has also recently made efforts to improve intelligence collection on Russia and China.

The National Security Agency (NSA) is reportedly also facing cuts under Trump’s new vision for the IC. The agency has been ordered to slash “up to 2,000 civilian roles,” three people familiar told Recorded Future News.

The NSA is a signals intelligence (SIGNT) agency within the Department of Defense (DOD). Trump fired Biden-appointed NSA Director Timothy Haugh in April.

The NSA referred the Daily Caller to DOD for questions about restructuring.

“NSA is focused on carrying out the priorities of the President, Secretary of Defense, and Director of National Intelligence, which include evaluating and making strategic adjustments to its civilian workforce,” a DOD spokesperson told the Caller.

“As a combat support agency, NSA is working with the Department to meet [DOD’s] goals and ensure that workforce adjustments are conducted while we continue to execute NSA’s SIGINT and Cybersecurity missions,” the statement continued.

The DOD intends to target its “bloated headquarters,” Hegseth announced in early May.

He introduced the General and Flag Officer Reductions Policy, or the “Less Generals More GIs” directive in a video.

Hegseth ordered at least a 20% reduction of 4-star positions in the Active Component, 20% reduction of the National Guard’s general officers and a minimum 10% reduction in general and flag officers, according to a DOD memo.

“We’re going to shift resources from bloated headquarters’ elements to our warfighters,” Hegseth stated in the video.

He also directed $5.1 billion in “wasteful spending” cuts in accordance with DOGE’s findings in April.

However, the Trump administration has proposed a record $1 trillion defense budget — even though the Pentagon has yet to pass an audit.

The law enforcement arm of the IC is also not immune to restructuring.

Trump’s proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget includes a $545 million cut to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), citing a reduction in “DEI programs, pet projects of the [Biden] administration, and duplicative intelligence activities,” according to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

The proposal’s recommendations concern discretionary funding.

The Caller reached out to the FBI for comment on the budget proposal and examples of any waste, fraud or abuse the bureau has eliminated. The bureau referred the Caller to Patel’s comments during committee hearings.

FBI Director Kash Patel testified in May before the House Appropriations Committee and said the bureau was “trying to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.”

Patel is reorganizing the agency to “streamline operations,” according to his May 8 opening statement. The FBI is “ensuring that the Bureau is a good steward of taxpayer dollars,” his statement added.

However, Patel pushed back against the OMB’s proposal to slash funding during his hearing. He told congressmembers the budget cuts were not what the FBI had requested.

“The proposed budget that I put forward is to cover us for $11.1 billion which would not have us cut any positions … we need more than what has been proposed,” he told Democrat Connecticut Rep. Rose DeLauro.

Patel appeared to reverse his comments the following day, and he expressed support for OMB’s budget when testifying before the Senate Appropriations Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee.

“We will make and agree with this budget as it stands and make it work,” he told Democratic Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen during the senate hearing.

“I was simply asking for more funds because I can do more with more money,” Patel added.

Rep. DeLauro asked what positions would be cut due to the funding reduction, and Patel said he is not looking to cut positions.

“Ma’am, at this time, we have not looked at who to cut,” he answered. “We are focusing our energies on how not to have them cut.”

In addition to restructuring the intelligence community’s workforce, Trump has sought to eliminate DEI from federal agencies.

The CIA, ODNI, FBI and NSA have made efforts to comply with Trump’s executive orders, including by removing DEI language from government websites.

Notably, the FBI closed its DEI office in December 2024.

DNI Gabbard told Trump during a cabinet meeting that she closed the IC Human Capital Office, deeming it a “DEI slush fund.”

Additionally, Gabbard fired over 100 intelligence staffers who were in sexually explicit NSA chats.

Former President Biden’s CIA Director William J. Burns prioritized DEI, a CIA official told the Caller.

Under the Trump administration, however, the agency has scrapped its DEI office.

“Director Burns made it clear that strengthening diversity and inclusion at CIA was one of his highest priorities,” the official said. “Under Director Ratcliffe, there has been a significant change — the DEI office has been shut down and mission objectives are prioritized instead.”

100 Days In, Here’s How Trump Has Already Dismantled The Deep State

President Donald Trump celebrated day 100 of his administration Tuesday, and he’s already dealt several blows to the deep state — from declassifying assassination files to revoking security clearances.

Since assuming her role as head of the intelligence community (IC), Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has attempted to root out politicization. She announced the Director’s Initiatives Group (DIG), a task force aimed at promoting transparency, in early April.

Gabbard also declassified the Biden administration’s “Strategic Implementation Plan For Countering Domestic Terrorism.” The strategy targeted gun rights, hate crimes and “misinformation.”

Trump directed Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi to work with Gabbard to declassify the assassination files of President John F. Kennedy (JFK), Senator Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK).

Gabbard declassified over 10,000 pages of RFK documents in April, following the release of nearly 80,000 pages of JFK files in March.

The MLK files have yet to be released, but Gabbard previously said they will be declassified.

At Trump’s directive, Gabbard also revoked the security clearances of various officials, including the 51 former national security officials who signed the letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop emails.

The infamous letter claimed the emails the New York Post reported had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

Democratic New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken also had their security clearances revoked.

Former President Biden also no longer receives the President’s Daily Brief (PBD).

Moreover, Trump removed the security details of retired Gen. Mark Milley, John Bolton and Anthony Fauci.

While left-wing judges have attempted to thwart Trump’s agenda, particularly on immigration, the FBI recently arrested a Wisconsin judge for allegedly obstructing an immigration arrest.

“Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a since-deleted tweet.

An agency that has long abused its power, especially under the Biden administration, appears to be rolling back some firearms regulations.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) repealed Biden’s “Zero Tolerance Policy” and announced a review of two other gun regulations in April at the direction of AG Pam Bondi and then-Acting Director Kash Patel.

Trump also issued pardons to many prosecuted under the Biden administration, including around 1,500 January 6 defendants and 23 pro-life activists.

“Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government” was one of Trump’s first executive orders.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) requested information from the FBI regarding their investigations into January 6. The bureau handed over the names of employees involved in investigating January 6 to the DOJ in February, according to an email.

The president has appointed critics of the surveillance state to key positions, including Gabbard at DNI and Patel as FBI director. He’s also nominated people who have been critical of endless wars, including Elbridge Colby for Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.

Trump has also taken a hammer to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) with his executive orders. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and several intelligence agencies have targeted DEI programs in compliance with Trump’s directives.

However, there are still areas that conservatives are pushing the Trump admin to address — including the Jeffrey Epstein files.

The DOJ gave right-wing influencers binders with the first tranche of “Epstein Files,” although they reportedly contained few revelations.

Others are pressing Trump’s intelligence agencies to clean house, specifically at the FBI.

Steven Jensen, a key FBI official in the January 6 investigations, was recently promoted to assistant director in charge (ADIC) at the Washington Field Office.

Gabbard said her office would revoke the security clearances of more than 100 staffers in February over sexually explicit chat messages on a National Security Agency (NSA) platform.

EXCLUSIVE: The First Photos Of The FBI’s Arrest Of Major MS-13 Leader

The Daily Caller exclusively obtained the first photos of the FBI’s raid Thursday that resulted in the arrest of a major MS-13 leader.

Law enforcement arrested top MS-13 leader, Henry Josue Villatoro-Santos, in an early morning raid in Northern Virginia.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Virginia GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin and FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest at a press conference March 27. Villatoro-Santos, who was allegedly one of the top three leaders of the gang in the U.S., was caught just miles outside of Washington, D.C.

The FBI shared with the Caller the first photos of the raid, offering a behind the scenes look at the operation.

MS-13 is an international criminal syndicate that has been tied to countless murders, rapes and other heinous crimes across the country. The gang originated in Los Angeles, but is now largely associated with Salvadoran nationals.

“He was the leader for the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country, right here in Virginia, living half an hour outside of Washington, D.C.,” Bondi said at a joint press conference. “He is an illegal alien from El Salvador and he will not be living in our country much longer.”

“America is safer today because one of the top domestic terrorists in MS-13 is off the streets,” Bondi continued.

In two photos obtained by the Caller, FBI Director Kash Patel is seen thanking agents for their work the day of the raid.

To capture Villatoro-Santos, an FBI SWAT team breached the front and rear door of his mother’s home, the New York Post reported. After agents spotted Villatoro-Santos trying to hide and refusing to surrender, agents lobbed a stun grenade and pulled him out of the house, according to the outlet.

Bondi said on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” that Villatoro-Santos had been recruited to join the gang in middle school. According to officials, he had a stash of weapons, ammunition, and silencers in his garage when they found him.

Villatoro-Santos’ mother denied to WUSA9 News, a local outlet, that her son was a part of the gang.

Daily Caller Senior Editor Amber Duke asked Patel during Thursday’s press conference how long the gang member had been living in the United States.

“The bottom line is — for FAR too long … If you’re here for a minute, a day, a month, or a year you’ve been here far too long,” Patel answered.

EXCLUSIVE: Man Arrested For Allegedly Plotting ‘Mass Casualty’ Event Was ‘Transitioning’ Genders, Police Confirm

A Texas man arrested for allegedly planning a “mass casualty event” against law enforcement was “transitioning” genders, a police source confirmed to the Caller.

The FBI’s Houston office announced Monday that it arrested Seth “Andrea” Gregori after he allegedly plotted an attack against police “similar to the 2016 Dallas ambush.” In that 2016 attack, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed police officers in Dallas, Texas, killing five and wounding nine more in a mass shooting. Johnson was reportedly angry over white police officers shooting black suspects.

Gregori was arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats against Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) officers, according to a CCPD press release.

Numerous law enforcement releases and news stories referred to Gregori by both the names “Seth” and “Andrea.” The Caller asked CCPD why it used both in its press release.

A CCPD officer said that, based on information they received from the FBI, “it’s our understanding that [Gregori is] transitioning.” Gregori’s driver’s license indicates he is male, but booking information from the Nueces County jail reportedly marks him as “female.”

Both the FBI national press office and Houston field office declined to comment on the matter, referring the Caller to the Nueces County District Attorney’s (DA) Office and “local/state public records.”

Speculation had circulated online that Gregori may be “transgender” because at least two different law enforcement agencies were using different first names when referencing the suspect.

Gregori also appears in pictures with long hair in a mugshot shared by CCPD.

A local news outlet used female pronouns when referring to Gregori. An officer on a joint task force with the FBI was investigating a tip from Feb. 6 according to CCPD, the outlet reported.

Gregori was reportedly friendly with multiple officers and took photos of them, the tipster asserted. Gregori had also recently bought an AR-style rifle, the outlet said.

He was arrested Monday with the rifle in his book bag, according to the outlet, which cited an affidavit.

KENS5 News reported that Gregori allegedly intended to target “white cops” in the CCPD but would leave “Black and Mexican cops alone,” according to the arrest affidavit.

The outlet noted that there “is confusion” over Gregori’s gender.

In 2018, a 14-year-old Seth Gregori and Jonathan Gregori were reported missing by the Corpus Christi Police Detectives. Both were located, according to a press release. Law enforcement said Seth “Andrea” Gregori is currently 21 years old.

pre-file case in the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office uses the name “Andrea Lozano Gregori.”

The name Andrea is also used in a probable cause statement obtained by the Caller.

According to a Nueces County, Texas public portal, an Andrea Lozano Gregori was charged with multiple misdemeanors in previous years.

The charges include fleeing a police officer in 2023 and criminal trespassing in 2024.

This is a developing story and may be updated with further details.

DOJ Inspector General’s Findings Reportedly Show FBI Surveilled Trump Nominee Kash Patel

A Department of Justice (DOJ) watchdog revealed Tuesday the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spied on President-elect Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, according to reports.

The DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) published a report on the DOJ seeking records through a “compulsory process” of members of Congress, the news media and congressional staffers, according to a press release.

While the report does not name the individuals whose records were surveilled, sources familiar told the New York Post and CNN that Kash Patel was among the individuals spied on.

The Daily Caller reached out to Patel’s spokeswoman, who has not yet responded, but who told the Post the OIG report “highlights exactly why Kash Patel is the perfect leader to reform and rebuild the FBI.”

At the time, Patel was a staffer on the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee, according to CNN. The outlet noted that sources familiar with the matter told CNN that Patel, in addition to Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, were targeted.

Patel sued Trump’s former key DOJ and FBI appointees in 2023, including then-FBI Director Christopher Wray, who resigned Wednesday. Patel filed a lawsuit over the FBI’s attempt to acquire a subpoena in 2017 for data from his personal email account.

Patel was the lead investigator on the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into how the DOJ and FBI handled the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. The FBI’s Operation Crossfire Hurricane relied on the debunked Steele Dossier to get a warrant for a wiretap on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

The DOJ also sought records from reporters at CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post, according to the OIG’s report.

In 2017, those outlets published articles that included classified information, the report said.

Multiple outlets reported in 2021 that in 2020, the DOJ tried to identify the sources who leaked the information by issuing compulsory process to acquire “non-content communications records” of CNN, The New York Times and Washington Post reporters, according to the OIG.

The FBI declined to comment to the Caller. The DOJ also declined to comment but pointed the Caller to its response in Appendix One of the report.

“As the Report sets out, the OIG found no indication in its review that the investigative steps of the career prosecutors in any of these cases were pursued for improper reasons or based on party affiliation or status,” the DOJ stated.

The DOJ also said it addressed two of the OIG’s recommendations and was evaluating the third.

While the report did acknowledge that it found no “evidence of retaliatory or political motivation” by the prosecutors involved in the compulsory process for the records the OIG reviewed, it added that the surveillance created “at a minimum, the appearance of inappropriate interference by the executive branch.”

The DOJ sought “non-content communications records” from individuals on both sides of the aisle from between September 2017 and March 2018 using the compulsory process, according to the report.

This included 21 Democratic congressional staffers, 20 Republican staffers, two nonpartisan staffers and two members of Congress, the OIG report detailed.

“[T]he decision to issue most of the compulsory process for their records was based on the close proximity in time between that access and the subsequent publication of the news articles,” the report stated.

“As a result, dozens of congressional staffers became part of the subject pool in a federal criminal investigation for doing nothing more than performing constitutionally authorized oversight of the executive branch.”

Andrew McCabe was acting director of the FBI from May to August 2017. He was fired as deputy director in 2018 after an inspector general’s report accused him of lying about media leaks. However, he settled a lawsuit with the DOJ and regained his full pension.

Kash Patel has previously stated that he would “shut down the Hoover FBI Building on day one and reopen it as a Deep State Museum.”

An FBI Agent Refused To Go Along With The Biden Admin’s Anti-‘Extremism’ Agenda — It Cost Him His Career

When Zach Schoffstall, a former supervisory senior resident agent in the FBI’s Salt Lake City Division, heard his bosses wanted to focus more on “domestic terrorism” and “hate crimes,” he tried to work with them. He brought the U.S. Attorney in Idaho two hate crime cases.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) declined to prosecute both. Instead, Schoffstall told the Daily Caller, the Attorney for the District of Idaho, Josh Hurwit, said he was more interested in appeasing the Biden administration by hosting seminars to talk about hate crimes. Later on, when the FBI pushed Schoffstall to execute a search warrant against a “domestic extremist” group protesting LGBTQ activists, he refused. It eventually cost him his career.

“I had been told I brought embarrassment to the bureau because of all the pressure that DOJ placed on the bureau to get that warrant,” Schoffstall told the Caller.

In June of 2022, 31 Patriot Front members were arrested and charged with conspiracy to riot after they were found carrying poles and shields in a U-Haul at a Coeur d’Alene “Pride in the Park” event. Schoffstall said the group is known to protest BLM, LGBTQ, and anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) events.

Pride in the Park generated outrage after it was revealed that Idaho’s Satanic Temple chapter and sexualized drag queens would be present at the “family-friendly” event. Christian pastors, however, were removed for allegedly trespassing. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said that month that it was investigating whether a performer’s genitals were potentially exposed, according to the Idaho Dispatch.

At least one member of Antifa was also arrested at the pride event, Andy Ngo reported.

“It would appear from our investigation, [Patriot Font] went to great lengths to prevent anyone from committing an act of violence,” Schoffstall said. “They would suspend people for talking about it. They’d kick them out.”

While he said the group’s message was “pretty stupid,” Schoffstall emphasized that he never saw any calls for violence.

Still, the USAO and executive management at the FBI were determined to execute a federal search warrant, even pushing Schoffstall to give the warrant to an agent “with no knowledge of the investigation.”

After he refused, Schoffstall was removed and transferred to West Virginia to work in the Criminal Justice Information Services Division. Despite receiving feedback that he performed at an “exemplary level,” Schoffstall was dismissed in 2024 because of how he handled the 2022 investigation, he said.

The Patriot Front case was transferred to an LGBTQ FBI supervisor in Boise, according to Schoffstall. Additionally, Coeur d’Alene’s USAO branch manager had a child who was “transitioning” at the time of the Boise Pride event, Schoffstall said. He speculated there was a combination of “personal and political agendas.”

“You had obviously an [assistant U.S. attorney] with a personal interest in the LGBTQ movement,” Schoffstall said. “And you had a brand new U.S. attorney who stated he was looking to appease DOJ.”

Josh Hurwit was “looking to appear to be in the good graces of [DOJ],” Schoffstall told the Caller. Hurwit was nominated by President Joe Biden, and FEC filings show he donated to Biden and Harris’s presidential campaigns. He is also a supporter of the LGBTQ movement and attended a Boise Pride event in December 2022.

The Biden administration made advancing “racial equity,” a euphemism for discarding merit to judge individuals based on their race, a key tenet of its executive brand policy. At the DOJ, this manifested in the form of an annual “equity action plan.”

Hurwit reportedly told Schoffstall that one of his priorities as attorney for the District of Idaho would be combating hate crimes.

Schoffstall told the Caller he notified the USAO of two potential hate crimes. In one instance, a white male allegedly assaulted a black man with a knife and used racial slurs. In another, a Hispanic man was allegedly punched by a white man using racial slurs.

The USAO declined to prosecute both cases. Schoffstall later informed Hurwit about the potential hate crimes.

“He said, ‘Oh, I wasn’t aware, but I was more thinking we would do some conferences and so forth on the hate crime issues,’” Schoffstall stated.

“I think my takeaway from that was Mr. Hurwit, as the new U.S. Attorney, was very much just looking to appear to be in the good graces of main justice and parrot whatever they wanted him to parrot, but they weren’t necessarily looking for basic criminal prosecutions.”

The Caller reached out to Hurwit’s office for comment on the above but has not yet heard back.

Hurwit did establish a COVID-19 Fraud Task Force in 2023 to prosecute individuals who exploited various pandemic-related programs for fraud purposes. (RELATED: Kamala’s Last-Ditch Pitch To Black Men Is A Dream For Scammers, Fraudsters)

The DOJ launched a “United Against Hate” (UAH) initiative under Biden in 2022 to combat hate crimes. The program partnered nonprofits and USAOs with the DOJ and FBI to “combat hate.”

“UAH shares resources to combat hate and encourages discussion between representatives from law enforcement, community organizations, and members of the public,” a DOJ press release stated.

Rather than prosecute hate crimes, Hurwit cosponsored a UAH event with Idaho State University in 2023 which included presentations about how to report them. He also participated in an event with the DOJ, FBI, and the Idaho nonprofit “Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations,” in 2022.

The City of Coeur d’Alene passed an anti-hate crime ordinance in July 2024. One of the city’s councilmembers, Christie Wood, is on the board of the Task Force involved in the DOJ’s UAH program.

“The new U.S. attorney, you know, told me that he was wanting to parrot the priorities of DOJ main, and that included having conferences and at least making the appearance they were trying to do something about hate crimes,” Schoffstall said.

Hurwit spoke at the Task Force’s banquet in 2024. The group is based in Coeur d’Alene and worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to bankrupt the white-nationalist Aryan Nations, according to The Spokesman Review. Idaho’s USAO also co-sponsored a 2023 UAH event at Boise State University with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of the Pacific Northwest.

“I think this goes back to the Patriot Front issue,” Schoffstall told the Caller.

“They quickly realized they couldn’t charge these guys with a federal crime, right? But I think the facts would indicate that they wanted to make the appearance that they were leaning heavily into this and they were going to do something about it.”

In the end, the Patriot Front case amounted to almost nothing — the group’s leader walked free, and a handful were convicted of “conspiracy to riot,” bringing jail sentences of a few days and modest fines. The others pled guilty and received even softer punishments.

FBI Tipped Off In 2019 About Suspected Trump Gunman Ryan Wesley Routh’s Firearm Possession, Agency Says

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed Monday that they received a tip in 2019 about the man who allegedly intended on shooting former President Donald Trump.

The FBI revealed that they have investigated Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old convicted felon, in 2019 following a tip about his possession of a firearm, as announced during a press conference by special agent in charge Jeffrey Veltri of the Miami FBI field office. The tip surfaced while Routh was residing in Hawaii, but the allegations could not be substantiated after the complainant denied providing the initial information and the FBI subsequently relayed these findings to local law enforcement in Honolulu.

“I can also share with you that he was the subject of a previously closed 2019 tip to the FBI where it was alleged he was a felon in possession of a firearm,” Veltri said. “And following up on the tip, the alleged complainant was interviewed and did not verify, I repeat, did not verify providing the initial information.”

WATCH

Veltri provided information regarding Routh’s extensive criminal history, confirming that he has faced charges in the past.

“The United States Attorney mentioned, the subject was charged and convicted in North Carolina for possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Law enforcement checks also revealed that from 1997 to 2010, the subject had numerous felony charges for stolen goods,” the special agent said.

The U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that they were investigating reported gunfire near Trump. Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, confirmed on X (previously Twitter) Sunday afternoon that the former president was “safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”

Authorities released bodycam footage on Monday showing the arrest of Routh, who police took into custody on Sunday for allegedly attempting to assassinate Trump. After noticing that Routh was armed with a semi-automatic rifle within 500 yards of the location, Secret Service agents evacuated Trump from the venue.

FBI Shows Up To Oklahoma Woman’s House, Questions Her About Social Media Posts: REPORT

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents reportedly launched an investigation in Oklahoma to look into social media posts, Fox News reported Saturday.

Rolla Abdeljawad reported an unexpected visit by FBI agents concerning her social media activity, according to Fox News. The agents reportedly visited her home and inquired about her posts following alerts from Facebook. Abdeljawad, who sought to confirm the agents’ identity by asking them to display their badges on camera, shared her experience through a video uploaded by her lawyer, Hassan Shibly, on the social media platform X.

“Facebook gave us a couple of screenshots of your account,” one agent said in the video. To which Abdeljawad replied with “So we no longer live in a free country, and we can’t say what we want?” “No, we totally do,” another agent wearing a red shirt said.

“We do this every day, all day long. It’s just an effort to keep everybody safe and make sure nobody has any ill will,” one agent then told the woman.

In a caption, Shibly advised the public on what to do in these situations. “What she did right: 1. Refuse to speak to them without a lawyer. 2. Refuse to let them in her house. 3. Record the interaction,” the lawyer wrote on X. “What she did wrong: 1. Exit her house. Do not let them in your house if they do not have a warrant but do not exit your house either.”

The specific posts that caught the FBI’s eye are unknown. Yet, Abdeljawad’s outspoken posts against the Gaza conflict, criticizing Israel and showing support for Palestine, are well-documented on her Facebook, according to Fox News.

“Israhelli terrorist filth,” she said in one post, Fox News reported. “They think Ramadan is a weakness for Muslims not, realizing Ramadan is the strength. #FreePalestine May Allah destroy every single despicable zionist, their supporters and backers. Ameen [sic].”

“Don’t fall for their games. Our community is being watched & they are just waiting for any reason to round us up,” Abdeljawad wrote on March 24, according to Fox News. “If you’re Muslim and/or pro-pal consider all your media accounts, Google searches, mail, messenger, local mosques & political events monitored. #NYC #usa #PoliceState #FreePalestine.”

The Daily Caller has reached out to the FBI for comments but has yet to receive a response.
