Pelosi: Florida Farmers Need Illegal Immigrants ‘To Pick The Crops’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Floridian farmers need illegal immigrants in their state to “pick the crops” during a press conference Friday.

“Right now the best thing we can do for our economy is to have comprehensive immigration reform. We have a shortage of workers in our country and you see even in Florida, some of the farmers and the growers saying why are you shipping these immigrants up north, we need them to pick the crops down here,” Pelosi said.

“But that doesn’t mean that we don’t recognize our moral responsibility to as well,” she added.

Pelosi’s comments come weeks after Florida governor Ron DeSantis sent two flights of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. DeSantis’s office claimed the immigrants went to the area willingly. DeSantis joined Governors Greg Abbott and Doug Ducey of Texas and Arizona in sending illegal immigrants to liberal sanctuary cities.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public health emergency in early September over the toll on the city’s resources caused by the influx of thousands of migrants.

Massachusetts Activates 125 National Guardsmen To Support 50 Illegal Migrants In Martha’s Vineyard

Migrants Say They Weren’t Tricked Into Coming To DC

Massachusetts is activating 125 national guardsmen to help transport the 50 illegal immigrants who recently arrived at the island of Martha’s Vineyard late Wednesday off the island, Republican Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced Friday.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent the migrants to Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday as part of the state’s program transporting illegal migrants to sanctuary cities. Massachusetts is now activating its national guard and offering to transport the migrants to Joint Base Cape Cod, Baker announced.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is coordinating with state and local officials to provide food and shelter, according to CBS. Baker said locals had provided temporary shelter to the migrants but were unable to help them long-term.

“The island communities are not equipped to provide sustainable accommodation, and state officials developed a plan to deliver a comprehensive humanitarian response,” he said, according to CBS.

The move to the military base will be voluntary, according to Baker, who noted that Joint Base Cape Cod has previously housed people fleeing Hurricane Katrina and served as a medical site during for COVID-19. It will now offer food and shelter, healthcare and legal services to the 50 migrants, according to Baker.

The rate of illegal immigration through the southern border has shattered records throughout the Biden administration, with nearly 2 million individuals encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) between October 2021 and July 2022.

Soros-Backed Immigration Group Suing DeSantis Over Martha’s Vineyard Flights Called To ‘Defund’ Border Patrol, ICE

A George Soros-backed immigration nonprofit that’s suing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other officials after the state flew illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, has repeatedly called to “defund” two agencies responsible for protecting the U.S. border.

The group, Alianza Americas, has supported defunding Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The nonprofit, which Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) network donated almost $1.4 million to between 2016 and 2020, notably launched a “Freedom for All” campaign in February that urged the U.S. government to “abolish immigration detention & defund private prisons that hold the majority of detained migrants.”

“@ALIANZAAMERICAS is out on the Capitol with #DefundHate @UNITEDWEDREAM & others to call for cuts in funding for CBP’s massive border enforcement operations, including Border Patrol agents, invasive border surveillance technologies, and physical walls & barriers,” Alianza Americas tweeted Sept. 12. “#FreedomForAll.”

Alianza Americas and the advocacy law firm Lawyers for Civil Rights filed a lawsuit Tuesday on behalf of “Vineyard migrants and all similarly situated people who are fraudulently induced to travel across state lines by DeSantis and the State of Florida.”

Last Wednesday, DeSantis sent two flights with illegals to Martha’s Vineyard. Democrats as well as liberal activists have called the move “inhumane,” and Alianza Americas’ lawsuit on behalf of the illegal migrants alleges officials in Florida “intentionally targeted only individuals who are non-white and born outside the United States.”

“It is opportunistic that activists would use illegal immigrants for political theater,” a spokeswoman for DeSantis told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

As part of its Freedom for All campaign, Alianza Americas in September met with the office of Democratic Illinois Rep. Dick Durbin “to share about the urgency of defunding” both CBP and ICE, according to Twitter posts.

In 2018, Alianza joined over 200 groups to demand Congress reject additional funding for ICE. The groups sharply criticized the Trump administration for its border wall construction.

Mark Morgan, the former acting CBP commissioner under former President Donald Trump, said “it’s absolutely absurd” that groups such as Alianza Americas want to defund federal agencies responsible for safeguarding the U.S. border from violent crime and drugs.

“It’s pure politics and it’s pure ideology,” he told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The only thing they do is focus on illegal immigration. What these advocacy groups won’t be honest with the American people about is that when you facilitate and you encourage illegal immigration, that drives our borders to be insecure.”

Alianza America in 2019 called on Congress in a roughly two-minute video to “defund ICE and CBP, two agencies who are directly complicit in the abuse and death of thousands.” It criticized the policy of deportations in the video and pointed out examples of individuals dying in ICE detention facilities.

Alianza Americas did not respond to a request for comment nor did OSF.

EXCLUSIVE: Immigrants Travel To Schools With Warning: Socialism Is Deadly

Immigrants who have fled socialist countries are travelling to schools across the U.S. for free under a new program to teach students about the dangers of socialism.

The Dissident Project launched Monday with speakers set to “travel to high schools across the U.S. to speak to students about authoritarian socialism” at no cost to the schools, Dissident Project founder and Venezuelan-born economist Daniel Di Martino told the Daily Caller.

The speakers include activists from Venezuela, Cuba, Hong Kong and North Korea who have immigrated to the U.S. and are dedicated to speaking about how socialism has destroyed their countries.

Grace Jo, a speaker from North Korea, came to the U.S. after almost starving “to death as a child” under the country’s socialist regime. Two of her brothers and her father died from starvation, according to the Dissident Project’s website.

“All of us Dissident Project speakers came to America for freedom, and it is our duty to preserve that love for freedom among the youngest generation. That’s why we’re stepping up and doing our part so Americans never forget that this is an exceptional nation, that free enterprise and the rule of law made it great and that socialism can destroy it all like it did in our native countries,” Di Martino said.

The project was inspired by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ legislation recognizing a statewide “Victims of Communism Day” annually on Nov. 7 and requiring Florida schools to teach students about “the evils of communism.”

“Honoring the people that have fallen victim to communist regimes and teaching our students about those atrocities is the best way to ensure that history does not repeat itself,” DeSantis said in a statement about the bill in May.

Starting in the 2023-2024 school year, students in Florida will be mandated to receive at least 45 minutes of instruction in their required U.S. Government class about the evils of communism. Potential topics to cover include “Mao Zedong and the Cultural Revolution, Joseph Stalin and the Soviet System, Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution, Vladimir Lenin and the Russian Revolution, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, and Nicolás Maduro and the Chavismo movement,” according to the bill.

Di Martino began the Dissident Project “after learning about Florida’s new curriculum.”

“I thought we needed a unified platform where schools could find immigrants from socialist countries to speak there at no cost to them so we could reach every single American,” he said.

The Dissident Project will focus its efforts in speaking to school districts in Florida, given DeSantis’ legislation, but will also advertise the opportunity to teachers across the country, Di Martino concluded. Teachers who wish to host a speaker can do so for free by filling out a form.

Governor DeSantis Blocks Biden Admin’s International Child-Trafficking Scheme In Florida

DeSantis steps up again to battle the party of evil.

DeSantis Blocks Biden Admin’s International Child-Trafficking Scheme In Florida

By: Jordan Boyd

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is seeking to block federally funded housing organizations from incentivizing child trafficking promoted by President Joe Biden’s border crisis by stripping their licenses to operate.

The Republican first directed the Florida Department of Children and Families to look into the situation in September, followed by an emergency rule in December that halted issuing and renewing the licenses of organizations that accepted federal money to house unaccompanied migrant children. In September 2021 alone, border officials encountered 14,358 alien minors along the Southern U.S. border.

It wasn’t until last week that the DCF released a permanent rule proposal solidifying the state’s intent to cut off licensing for organizations harboring unaccompanied alien children at the request of the federal government. While the state will continue to participate in refugee resettlement programs with federal agencies, DCF Secretary Shevaun Harris confirmed that Florida “will no longer be complicit” in Biden’s border crisis which funnels more than $66 million to childcare and child-placing agencies in the Sunshine State.

As border apprehensions reach record-breaking highs nearly every month, the Biden administration has been conducting covert “ghost” flights to ship and resettle illegal aliens including minors across the country with little to no transparency or vetting. As a result, federal officials have lost track of almost 40 percent of migrant children who were released from border officials’ custody between January and May of last year.

DeSantis, however, made it clear that he doesn’t want Florida involved with the federal government’s attempts to incentivize illicit practices at the Southern border, including human smuggling, which is often facilitated by drug traffickers and criminal gangs.

“The current [unaccompanied alien children] process smuggles in illegal immigrants from many different countries with no vetting, no transparency, and no consideration for child and public safety,” DeSantis explained last week.

During an event with Cuban Americans who were ushered into Florida under Operation Pedro Pan, a pre-planned mission in the early 1960s designed to rescue unaccompanied minors from the communist regime in Cuba and bring them to the U.S., DeSantis explained that the Biden administration is endangering migrant children by spreading them across the country.

“I just think there’s a lot of bad analogies that get made in modern political discourse. But to equate what’s going on with the Southern border with mass trafficking of humans, illegal entry, drugs, all this other stuff — with operation Pedro Pan, quite frankly, is disgusting. It’s wrong. It is not even close to the same thing,” DeSantis said.

Like many times before, corporate media and leftist activists quickly attacked the Republican based on lies. Among those opposed to the new rule is Catholic Archbishop Thomas Wenski of the Archdiocese of Miami, who accused DeSantis of participating in political theater and lied about the governor’s comments.

“At Governor DeSantis’ Monday meeting with a few former Pedro Pan kids in Miami’s Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, he described any comparison of unaccompanied minors from Cuba in the early 60’s with those from Central America today as ‘disgusting,’” Wenski falsely claimed. “This was a new low in the zero-sum politics of our divisive times. Children are children — and no child should be deemed ‘disgusting’ — especially by a public servant.”

DeSantis, a father to three kids, never said children are “disgusting” but Wenski’s comments fit the Democrat narrative too well for pro-illegal immigration activists to pass up.

The American Business Immigration Coalition Action quickly sprung to action and released a “six-figure buy” radio advertisement using Wenski’s false claims to smear DeSantis.

“‘Disgusting’ is that Gov. DeSantis is trying to benefit himself politically by attacking innocent immigrant children who are only seeking refuge and to top it off, he did it in Miami, Florida’s own Ellis Island,” an English translation of the ad script states.

One thing the archbishop didn’t mention in his now-prolific falsehood about DeSantis was that the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, which he presides over, received millions of dollars from the Biden administration to harbor child migrants.

Financial documents obtained by The Federalist via an open records request indicate that in 2021 alone, CCAM raked in $10,048,439 from the federal government to serve 352 unaccompanied alien children in the state of Florida — more than $28,500 per child.

Governor Ron DeSantis on Opposing Critical Race Theory: We Must Stop Teaching Kids to Hate Our Country

At a roundtable discussion in Miami on the border crisis, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) explained briefly why he adamantly opposes the racist ideological indoctrination of Critical Race Theory (CRT), stating that his goal is to have every child in the state know that they are a “Floridian and an American.”

“One of the reasons we’re opposing CRT in schools: We want all the kids treated as individuals. We want them judged on the content of their character, on their talents,” he explained. “We don’t want them separated into racial groups and pitted against each other. Every single kid is a Floridian and an American. and that’s what we want to make sure.”

“And we’ve got to stop dividing people. We’ve got to stop teaching our kids to hate our country, so that’s our mission, and we’re going to make sure we get that done this legislative session,” he vowed.

DeSantis spoke about Florida’s stance against CRT during his State of the State address earlier this year, touting the Parents’ Bill of Rights, which “provides parental rights relating to a minor child’s education, upbringing, & health care.”

“We reject the notion that parents shouldn’t have a say in what their kids learn in school. Indeed, Florida law should provide parents with the right to review the curriculum used in their children’s schools,” he asserted. “We should provide parents with recourse so that state standards are enforced, such as Florida’s prohibition on infusing subjects with critical race theory in our classrooms… Our tax dollars should not be used to teach our kids to hate our country or to hate each other.”

Critical Race Theory

8 Known Connections

Critical race theory (CRT) holds that because racism is so deeply ingrained in the American character, classical liberal ideals such as meritocracy, equal opportunity, and colorblind justice are essentially nothing more than empty slogans that fail to properly combat—or to even acknowledge the existence of—the immense structural inequities that pervade American society and work against black people. Thus, according to critical race theorists, racial preferences (favoring blacks) in employment and higher education are not only permissible but necessary as a means of countering the permanent bigotry of white people who, as CRT’s founder Derrick Bell put it, seek to “achieve a measure of social stability through their unspoken pact to keep blacks on the bottom.”

Florida Public Universities Expected to Reject BDS, Governor DeSantis Says

By Algemeiner, December 26, 2021

The office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said on Wednesday that it expects Florida State University to prevent the Middle East Studies Association (MESA), with which it is an institutional partner, from operating a boycott of Israel on its campus.

Earlier this month, MESA members voted during their annual meeting to hold a referendum next year on a resolution endorsing the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

Responding Wednesday to questions about the proposed MESA boycott posed by Legal Insurrection, DeSantis’ office shared a statement rejecting “discrimination against the State of Israel or the Israeli people, including boycotts and divestments targeting Israel (the BDS movement).”

“It is our expectation that Florida State University will not permit MESA to operate a boycott of Israel through a public institution, will not accept the academic boycott of Israel, and will not allow university funds to be paid indirectly or directly to any organization that endorses BDS,” the statement continued. “The same goes for any other institution that receives state funding.”

Several other MESA institutional partners, including California State University, University of Arizona, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and University of Michigan, are also in states that have adopted measures against using public funds to support BDS.

The Academic Engagement Network, which opposes efforts to delegitimize Israel on campus, said this month that a MESA boycott “will inevitably and inequitably — discriminate against, exclude, and isolate Israeli scholars by singling out the Israeli academy for boycott.”

The proposed boycott was also lambasted as a threat to academic freedom by a group of progressive academics earlier this week.

Florida State University did not return The Algemeiner‘s request for comment.

FLORIDA: Governor DeSantis Activates Florida State Guard

“We want to be able to have a quick response capability and re-establishing the Florida State Guard will allow civilians from all over the state to be trained in the best emergency response techniques and have the ability to mobilize very, very quickly.” – Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), December 3rd, 2021

The Florida State Guard (FSG) is trained and funded by the state and therefore cannot be federalized and is available to the governor of Florida whenever needed. Florida law allows the governor of Florida to create and maintain a Florida state defense force should he decide to do so.

Florida Governor DeSantis Activates the Florida State Guard

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that he is activating the Florida State Guard.

NorthEscambia.com reported:

In Escambia County Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced more than $100 million in funding proposals to support Florida’s National Guard and establish the Florida State Guard, a civilian volunteer force that will assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies

The Governor’s budget proposal includes:

  • $87.5 million to expand the existing readiness center in Miramar and to establish three new armories in Homestead, Gainesville and Malabar;
  • $8.9 million for existing armory maintenance;
  • $2.2 million for a new headquarters for the National Guard Counter Drug Program;
  • $5.1 million to support Florida National Guardsmen seeking higher-education degrees; and
  • $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard.

[ … ]

The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques. By establishing the Florida State Guard, Florida will become the 23rd state with a state guard recognized by the federal government.

Watch Governor Ron DeSantis’ remarks about the Florida State Guard.

Bottom Line

It appears that Governor DeSantis has activated the Florida State Guard to protect Floridians from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Foreign enemies may include illegal aliens shipped to Florida by Biden. Domestic enemies might be Biden, his administration and members of Congress who support Biden and his draconian policies.

Just some thoughts upon hearing this news after seeing the sign at Governor DeSantis’ news conference stating, “Florida State Guard, Leave Us Alone.”

PODCAST: Conservatives Fleeing to Florida to Be Free

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s (R) leadership throughout the pandemic has brought “pro-freedom conservatives” to the Sunshine State in droves as they flee “tyrannical blue states” in search of freedom, Florida Republican Party Vice Chairman Christian Ziegler said during an interview on Breitbart News Saturday.

From 2008 to the end of Obama’s presidency in 2016, Democrats went from nearly 700,000 more voters than Republicans to a little over 300,000, election data shows. By 2020, Democrats held slightly less than a 100,000-voter lead. Republicans are now roughly 4,000 votes ahead of Democrats — 5,118,357 to 5,114,039, according to data from the Florida Division of Elections.

Ziegler told host Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News’s Washington bureau chief, that the secret to the Florida GOP’s success was leaning into the “Trump/DeSantis wing of the party” and investing “a record amount of money” toward voter registration with the help of the governor.

“We’re excited in Florida, and a lot of that has to do with obviously Donald Trump coming in, people seeing that and starting to switch parties. He brought in a lot of southern Democrats, a lot of moderates, independents over to the Republican Party. And Ron DeSantis keeping businesses and schools open has really accelerated that,” Ziegler said. “His record plus his resources have now really paid off, and now we are a Republican state officially.”

When talking to homebuilders on the ground in South Florida, Ziegler said they mostly report that most people moving to Florida are from California, New York, and Illinois — “deep blue states.”

“You know, the initial worry, which I agree with people, is I do not want people coming from California and New York and Illinois with their voting records, with their voting history and preferences. I do not want blue voters coming to Florida and shaping our state,” Ziegler said. “But, when you take a step back and you really dive into the numbers and you dive into the feedback from the people moving here, what we’re seeing is people are fleeing these tyrannical blue states that have overextended government. They’re shutting down businesses, they’re shutting down schools, and they’re looking around the country and trying to figure out where to relocate.”

Ziegler specifically credited DeSantis’s leadership with bringing in new Florida residents, touting his pandemic policy of following the science, keeping businesses and schools open, and fighting against mask and vaccine mandates.

“So I think that we’re getting the movers, and the movers coming here are actually pro-freedom conservatives that were locked down in blue states, and now they are fleeing to Florida to be free,” he said.

DeSantis, who has championed involvement in local school board elections, is specifically drawing “20,30, 40-year-old females, moms, dads, that have never been involved in politics,” Ziegler said.

“But now they’re waking up and seeing what the school boards are doing locally to their kids. They’re getting frustrated, and they’re realizing that the Republican Party is standing with them in support of freedom,” he continued.

Keeping up that enthusiasm on the ground will be key to driving up further support for the party going into the 2022 midterm elections, in addition to continuing to prioritize voter registration, which Ziegler called “one of their greatest tools.” While Democrats are already rumored to view DeSantis as “unbeatable,” Ziegler said the Florida GOP is planning on giving his campaign “150 percent.” He noted that a Democrat like Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried or party flipper and former Gov. Charlie Crist would “change our state for the worst” overnight.

“Look, Ron DeSantis in my mind — we’re going to make the assumption that he’s ten points down. We’re going to work our tails off and make sure he gets elected. We’ll let the Democrat Party put money in here and decide if they want to waste it. The good thing is, if they waste it in Florida, they don’t have that money in other states that they might actually have a chance in,” he said. “I can guarantee you, there are going to be a lot of liberal dollars that come from liberal blue states from people that may not have ever been to Florida, and they’re going to try to beat Ron DeSantis because they look at him as a potential 2024 candidate or 2028, no matter how that shapes up. As a guy that could be president in the future, they are going to try to take him out early.”

DeSantis blasts Biden, calls inflation a ‘huge problem,’ pledges gas tax relief

Nobody is fighting harder for the American people than Governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis is taking on the Biden Administration at every turn, as he prepares for a possible run at the presidency in 2024. If President Trump can’t run for POTUS in 2024, than Governor DeSantis is unquestionably our candidate. And the Democrats should be very concerned about Joe Biden sharing a debate stage with the great governor. #DeSantis2024!

DeSantis calls inflation a ‘huge problem,’ pledges gas tax relief

By Local10.com, November 22, 2021

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday that the state legislature will pursue gas tax relief for Florida residents, calling inflation a “huge problem.”

At a news conference Monday morning in Daytona Beach, accompanied by the state’s Department of Transportation Secretary Kevin J. Thibault, DeSantis placed the blame on “inflationary policies out of Washington.”

“The price of a Thanksgiving dinner is up over 20% just over last year,” DeSantis said. “I think what’s most dramatic, because it affects most people in their daily lives, is gas prices going up.”

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state jumped 10 cents in the middle of last week to $3.36, according to the American Automobile Association, the highest price at any point since September 2014. It sat at $3.35 on Monday morning, six cents below the national average of $3.41.

Florida OKs School CHOICE Vouchers For Parents In Districts Requiring Masks, FREED From Public School Tyranny

Finally school choice. Parents won’t go back to pubic schools. Watch.

Silver linings playbook.

Texas A.G. Ken Paxton said this is an excellent idea for Texas.

Florida OKs school vouchers in districts requiring masks

Florida’s Board of Education has approved an emergency rule to allow private school vouchers to parents who say their school district’s mask-wearing mandates amount to child harassment

August 6, 2021:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida’s Board of Education decided Friday to provide private school vouchers to parents who say a public school district’s mask-wearing requirements amount to harassment of their children.

The move to take private tuition costs from public school funding created yet another flashpoint in the fight between local school boards and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis over coronavirus safety measures in schools. DeSantis has long supported efforts to expand school privatization and says parents should be able to decide how to provide for their children’s health and education.

DeSantis had ordered the state education department to come up with ways to pressure school districts against creating mask mandates and punish them if they do. He said the rules could include withholding money from school districts or other actions allowed under Florida law.

The board then invoked an existing law to clarify eligibility for the Hope Scholarship, which is meant to protect children against bullying, adding “COVID-19 harassment” as a prohibited form of discrimination. It defined this as “any threatening, discriminatory, insulting, or dehumanizing verbal, written or physical conduct” students suffer as a result of COVID-19 protocols such as mask or testing requirements and isolation measures that “have the effect of substantially interfering with a student’s educational performance.”

“We’re not going to hurt kids. We’re not going to pull money that’s going to hurt kids in any way,” said board member Ben Gibson.

But he said the rule the board approved has the effect of law, and that if school districts don’t comply, the board could hold up the transfer of state money.

“If a parent wants their child to wear a mask at school, they should have that right. If a parent doesn’t want their child to wear a mask at school, they should have that right,” Gibson said.

In response to the governor’s order, the Department of Health approved a rule saying students can wear masks, but school districts must allow parents to opt their children out of any local mandates.

So far, three Florida school districts have decided to follow recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and require masks when they restart classes next week, citing Florida’s dramatic rise in coronavirus infections.

More than a dozen Florida parents filed a lawsuit Friday in Miami federal court against DeSantis, the state Department of Education and some of the largest school districts, alleging that the ban on mask mandates violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. They say their disabled children will be unable to attend public schools with unmasked classmates because they are at high risk of COVID-19 infection.

Florida leads the nation in COVID-19 related hospitalizations, rising from 12,516 on Thursday to 12,864, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Hospital data shows 2,680 of those patients required intensive care, using about 42% of the ICU beds in the state, compared with less than 20% they were using two weeks ago.

The Florida Department of Health published its weekly statistics showing a rise of seven-day average cases from 15,817 last Friday to 19,250, the highest average in the pandemic for the third time this week. The state tallied 616 deaths in one week, raising the total COVID-19 death toll to 39,695.

The number of people getting vaccinated is also rising, with more than 380,000 people getting them in the last seven-day period, compared with 334,000 the previous week.

At a news conference Friday, DeSantis reiterated his general opposition to restrictions, such as lockdowns, business closures and mask mandates.

“In terms of imposing any restrictions, that’s not happening in Florida. It’s harmful. It’s destructive. It does not work,” he said, noting that Los Angeles County had a winter surge despite all its restrictions. “We really believe that individuals know how to best assess their risks. We trust them to be able to make those decisions. We just want to make sure everybody has information.”

For years, Republicans have pushed to expand the school voucher programs, which include vouchers for low-income families and students with disabilities. The board said it was appropriate to expand the vouchers to protect children from bullying to include COVID-19 protocols. Voucher opponents say money is diverted from public to private schools once the child transfers.

School boards in Orange County, home to Orlando; Duval County, home to Jacksonville; and Alachua County, home to Gainesville, decided this week to require mask-wearing indoors.

The Duval and Orange boards are allowing parents to submit paperwork if they want their children not to wear masks. The Alachua board said it had voted to require masks for the first two weeks of school, a decision that will be reevaluated in two weeks. Students in all three districts go back to school Tuesday.

South Florida districts remained undecided Friday on their mask directives.

The Broward County School Board, which covers Fort Lauderdale and suburbs, had voted to require masks after hours of contentious debate that included a screaming match from angry anti-mask parents who set fire to masks and held picket signs outside. The board reversed course Monday over fear of losing funding, but on Wednesday said on Twitter that they are “waiting for guidance” in light of the governor’s orders.

The Miami-Dade school district hasn’t said whether masks will continue to be optional, as they were, or required.

Separately, late Thursday, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced that weekly COVID-19 testing will be required for all 29,000 non-school county employees unless they show proof of vaccination amid a surge of infections from the delta variant of the coronavirus. The policy takes effect Aug. 16.

“We’ve endured too much and seen too many families hurting. We have the power to avoid what is truly preventable,” the mayor said in a tweet on Thursday urging people to get the vaccine,” Cava said.

DeSantis Is The New Great Right Hope

Governor DeSantis’ performance as Florida governor has been extraordinary. He has made Florida the envy of the nation. If President Trump does not run in 2024, than DeSantis is our candidate. Nobody else comes even close.

Deroy Murdock: DeSantis is the new Great Right Hope

By Fox News, July 10, 2021

Democrat governors Andrew Cuomo of New York, Gavin Newsom of California, and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan shatter virtually everything they touch. Ron DeSantis, conversely, seems to get everything right. The Florida Republican has emerged as America’s governor.

“We’re standing with our folks. We’re going to do the right thing. We leaned into it, and we stood strong,” DeSantis told Fox News host Tucker Carlson last month.

Rather than snip a tax, kill a regulation, and then doze off—as too many Republicans have done—DeSantis is a tireless, full-spectrum conservative. He has authorized a host of economic, cultural, and law-enforcement initiatives that are buoying Florida and transforming him into the Great Right Hope.

In his first two months, DeSantis cut taxes by $335 million and led a Florida Deregathon that cut red tape, especially occupational-license requirements.

DeSantis’s nominees replaced three state Supreme Court justices who reached 75—mandatory retirement age. The Court shifted from four liberals and three conservatives to one liberal and six conservatives.

DeSantis’ COVID-19 response enraged the Lockdown Left and cheered pro-freedom conservatives. He shunned mask mandates, was among the first governors to re-open for business, continued in-person learning, shielded seniors from COVID carriers (Cuomo did the reverse; 15,000 elderly New Yorkers died), and delivered below-average infection and fatality rates.

DeSantis signed legislation that requires prison for rioters. He also penalized cities that defund their police.

Florida tabulated 11.4 million ballots and reported reliable results on Election Night 2020. DeSantis subsequently signed a new election-integrity law.

DeSantis approved legislation to protect girl power in government-school sports: Among female competitors, penises are verboten.

In May, DeSantis dramatically expanded school choice.

In June, he urged Florida’s state school board to kill Critical Race Theory (CRT) on government campuses. They did—unanimously.

“There’s no room in our classrooms for things like Critical Race Theory,” DeSantis declared, leaping intrepidly into America’s most incendiary controversy. “Teaching kids to hate our country and to hate themselves is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.”

DeSantis is a tireless, full-spectrum conservative.

While DeSantis battles this rattlesnake venom that un-American teachers unions, school boards, and other cultural Marxists are pumping into government classrooms, he also supplies the antidote.

“I put in a civics requirement for high schools in 2019,” DeSantis said.
And rather than tear America down, as does far-Left CRT, DeSantis expanded Florida’s curriculum to include “instruction on the evils of Communism and totalitarian ideology.”

“We want all students to understand the difference,” DeSantis told journalists on June 22. “Why would somebody flee across shark-infested waters?” DeSantis asked. “Why would people leave these countries and risk their lives to be able to come here? It’s important that students understand that.”

HB 5, the relevant legislation that DeSantis signed, also creates a “Portraits in Patriotism” library that showcases, as he explained, “real patriots who came to this country after seeing the horrors of these Communist regimes.”

Racist Democrat Gov. Candidate Nikki Fried: Ron DeSantis Seeks ‘Race War’ With Critical Race Theory Ban

This is what desperation looks like. Nikki Fried knows that she can’t defeat Governor DeSantis on the issues. That is why she is playing the race card. A very typical tactic from the Left. When they can’t win an argument, they will more often then not accuse their opponent of racism. Here is the good news. It’s not going to work. Nikki Fried will get trounced by Governor DeSantis in Florida’s upcoming gubernatorial election. No matter how much favorable news coverage she gets from the mainstream media. That’s assuming she even wins her party’s nomination.

Nikki Fried: Ron DeSantis seeks ‘race war’ with critical race theory ban

By Florida Politics, June 14, 2021

Fried made the comments on Jacksonville radio Monday.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried contended Monday that Gov. Ron DeSantis seeks a “race war and a cultural war.”

Fried, appearing on WJCT-FM’s “First Coast Connect,” was answering a listener question about the recently instituted Board of Education ban on teaching critical race theory and the 1619 Project, when she made the comment critical of the rule change.

“This is another opportunity for the Governor to create a race war and cultural war, inside of our state,” Fried told host Melissa Ross.

“I want everybody to rest assured. First of all, critical race theory is the new bogeyman of the Republican Party. It’s not something that’s taught in the state of Florida,” Fried noted. “But we need to let our teachers do their jobs and that’s teach.”

“This Governor and this Board of Education who is, again, appointed solely by Republican Governors like Ron DeSantis and the previous Governor as well, it is not their job to tell our teachers how to — sure, there’s parameters (and) policies, but this is a time when they have overstepped once again, government stepping into the job of educating, and not the teachers.”

“This is, again, a bogeyman the Governor is pushing out there to put fear into the people’s minds,” Fried continued.

“He did it intentionally, not because there’s a worry about something like this, but to create a culture war in our state. I know people in our state are smarter than this and aren’t going to fall for this political rhetoric spewed by Ron DeSantis and the Republican Party,” Fried said.

Fried’s criticism of DeSantis drew a response Tuesday morning from the Republican Governors’ Association.

“Nikki Fried’s accusations against the Governor aren’t just desperate, they’re dangerous,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Fried has shown repeatedly that she’s incapable of being truthful about pretty much anything. Her resorting to lies and malicious manipulations on her own liberal biography and views on critical race theory are just more of the same.”

Fried’s direct criticisms of the Board of Education’s ban on teaching critical race theory and like concepts comes after DeSantis, in the wake of the board’s decision, contended some teachers would rather teach critical race theory than reading.

“Some of the nonsense that you see in some of these places around the country, I mean, they will attack cops with this type of ideology in schools, and meanwhile, they have like 87% of the kids that aren’t even literate in some of these schools. So it shows you they’re not trying to educate; they’re trying to indoctrinate,” DeSantis said.

“We’re not going to let that come to Florida. And so I’m glad that they acted. I think it’s the right thing to do. We’re going to make sure that we’re providing access to education, but solid education, free of some of this ideology that people are trying to shove down everybody’s throats.”

Even as Democrats such as Fried object to the DeSantis agenda, donors flock to him.

DeSantis, who reported nearly $40 million cash on hand in his Friends of Ron DeSantis political committee as of the end of May, has been fundraising off the critical race theory ban for days.

“I will NOT allow this Cultural Marxism to Gain a Foothold in Florida Schools,” an email solicitation sent Thursday reads.

The new guidance for teachers certainly offers content guardrails.

American history is to be defined “largely on universal principles stated in the Declaration of Independence.” Teachers’ apparent efforts “to indoctrinate or persuade students to a particular point of view” will also be banned, as is “fiction or theory masquerading as facts.”

Florida Gov. DeSantis Signs Foreign Influence Bills, Blasts ‘Communist Party of China’

No one is fighting harder for the American people than Governor DeSantis. As POTUS, DeSantis will take the fight to China. CCP officials will not push DeSantis around as they do President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken.

Gov. DeSantis signs foreign influence bills, blasts ‘Communist Party of China’

By Florida Politics, June 7, 2021

‘We’ve got to start fighting back.’

With the phrase “Stop CCP Influence” displayed in bold letters across his podium, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed two bills Friday to thwart foreign meddling in Florida’s government and education system.

The bills (HB 1523) and (HB 7017) mark the Republican Governor’s latest jab against China, which he described Monday as an “adversary,” and other communist countries.

“There is no single entity that exercises a more pervasive, nefarious influence across a wide range of American industries and institution than the Communist Party of China,” DeSantis said.

Sponsored by Republican Rep. Mike Beltran, one measure (HB 1523) creates the crime of “trafficking in trade secrets” and enhances criminal penalties if the secrets are stolen and provided to a foreign government.

The other (HB 7017), sponsored by Republican Rep. Erin Grall, aims to curb foreign influence in the state’s academic research institutions.

Among other provisions, the legislation prohibits agreements between a handful of mostly communist countries and requires “thorough screening” of foreign applicants for research positions.

It would also force state agencies, local governments and colleges and universities to disclose donations and grants from those countries worth $50,000 or more.

Some of the seven prohibited countries include China, Cuba, Russia, North Korea and Venezuela.

“Enough is enough,” DeSantis said while speaking at a National Guard armory with military vehicles in the background. “We’ve got to start fighting back.”

The Republican Governor also blasted Hollywood, the media, Big Tech and “woke corporations.” They are part of the problem, he argued.

“If you’re somebody that will light your hair on fire because Georgia is requiring voter ID but yet you’re lining your pocket with money from China and not a peep about the slave labor that’s going on over there, you my friend are a hypocrite,” DeSantis said.

While critics lambast the bill as a political stunt, proponents point to China’s history of meddling in state and local affairs.

In February, for example, federal authorities indicted a University of Florida researcher who created a company in China that would profit from his taxpayer-funded UF research.

The researcher and Chinese resident, Lin Yang, reportedly concealed support from the Chinese government.

Yang traveled to China in August 2019 and has yet to return to the United States, according to the Department of Justice.

In recent years, the University of Central Florida in Orlando and the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa have also fallen victim to foreign interference.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Rips the Left, Establishment: ‘I Have Only Begun to Fight’ in FIERY Campaign Speech

Governor Ron DeSantis is the future of the Republican Party. He clearly intends to make a run at the presidency in 2024. In his speech, DeSantis repudiated the Republican Party establishment’s failed policies of the past, as a statement of allegiance with President Trump and the Trump base.

DeSantis also outlines his vision for America. As POTUS, DeSantis would secure our Southern border, keep America out of unnecessary wars, and take the fight to China. DeSantis will also stand up to big tech, the mainstream media, and the Left. And rest assured, DeSantis will stand with Israel and Jewish Americans. #DeSantis2024

Gov. Ron DeSantis Rips the Left, Establishment: ‘I Have Only Begun to Fight’

By Newsbinding, May 22, 2021

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) made it clear this week that he has no plans to submit to the radical left and their fake news narratives, telling a group of Republicans at Allegheny County’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner that he has “only begun to fight” and warning the GOP cannot revert to “the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear.”

DeSantis, a rising star in the Republican Party, delivered a half-hour speech to hundreds of Republicans attending the event in Pittsburgh, speaking about the corporate media, big tech oligarchs, and Florida’s tried and true pro-freedom approach to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

“All I can say to any state that has not followed suit: Open your state, open your schools, end these mask mandates, let people live and thrive,” DeSantis said during the address. “When it came right down to it, we chose freedom over Fauci-ism.”

While the governor did not explicitly express any plans to run for president in the next election cycle, one of his lines has garnered a bit of attention from the establishment media.

“I can tell you this: in the state of Florida, with me as governor, I have only begun to fight,” DeSantis said, prompting many to ponder his future political plans beyond his intention to win reelection in the Sunshine State’s upcoming gubernatorial race.

He also warned Republicans against reverting back to the ways of the party establishment — a phenomenon that caught national attention with the ousting of now-former GOP conference chair Liz Cheney (R-WY).

“As we look forward to the fights ahead, we cannot, indeed we will not go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear,” DeSantis said. “We are not going to do that.”

The Republican governor also advised Republicans to steer from seeking approval from the establishment media and their allies — advice he has demonstratively followed himself, continuing to forge a pro-freedom path ahead in Florida in the face of constant criticisms and fake news narratives — one of which came to the national spotlight in April after 60 Minutes deceptively edited a segment making it look as though DeSantis failed to properly address accusations of pay-f0r-play in vaccine distribution.

“So what I would say to Republicans: Don’t seek approval from these people,” DeSantis cautioned. “They don’t like you. They will smear you. They will attack you. The way to win is to fight back and not take it anymore. Don’t let these people set the agenda for our party anymore.”

The 42-year-old governor urged Republicans to “stand your ground” and “hold the line.”

“Don’t back down,” he said, channeling the spirit of former President Donald Trump by vowing to fight on.

While former President Trump has dominated hypothetical 2024 primary polls, DeSantis has continued to round out the top choices, tying former Vice President Mike Pence for “second choice” in a hypothetical 2024 Republican matchup, according to a March survey.
