Gun Charges Against Hunter Biden Are Meant To Protect The President, Legal Experts Say

The Department of Justice’s (DOJ) decision to bring felony gun charges against Hunter Biden protects both him and his father, legal experts argued.

Hunter Biden was indicted on three counts Thursday for making false statements and possessing a gun while addicted to drugs, charges stemming from his purchase of a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018. Legal experts said the gun charge, which is based on a statute that may soon be found unconstitutional, protects the Bidens, as it is the only charge that does not implicate the President.

“It’s the one charge that will not lead to President Biden,” Mike Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, told the Daily Caller News Foundation, describing the charges as a “cover-up” in a separate tweet. “Tax fraud, wire fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and Foreign Agent Registration Act—all those charges could have led to President Biden. But the Biden Justice Department declined to pursue those charges and instead pursued a gun charge that is in serious constitutional doubt.”

Former Assistant United States Attorney Andy McCarthy similarly said on Fox News Thursday that it was “the only charge that this prosecutor could’ve brought against Hunter in which Hunter’s father is not implicated.”

An appeals court ruled in August that the statute Hunter was charged with violating, which bars gun possession for anyone who is an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance, violates the Second Amendment.

“In short, our history and tradition may support some limits on an intoxicated person’s right to carry a weapon, but it does not justify disarming a sober citizen based exclusively on his past drug usage,” the ruling written by Circuit Judge Jerry Smith, a Reagan appointee, states. “Nor do more generalized traditions of disarming dangerous persons support this restriction on nonviolent drug users.”

Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell already pointed to the ruling to argue the case will “be dismissed before trial.”

“The only change that has occurred between when they investigated [this alleged crime] and today is that the law changed,” Hunter’s attorney Abbe Lowell told ABC News Friday. “But the law didn’t change in favor of the prosecution. The law changed against it.”

Lawyer and former federal prosecutor Bill Shipley said on Twitter the charge is “on shaky legal ground with the trend in 2nd Amendment jurisprudence.”

“Doesn’t matter if it is Hunter or someone else, the DOJ should not be filing these counts until there is further clarity in the appeals courts that some kind of effort under this statute going forward is going to survive a Second Amendment challenge,” Shipley said.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years and $750,000 in fines, according to court documents.

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said on his podcast Friday that the charge was brought “by design, to insulate Joe Biden.”

“The reason this matters is because there’s considerable evidence that Hunter Biden solicited and received tens of millions of dollars from corrupt foreign players in exchange for official favors from his dad, Joe Biden, now the president of the United States,” he said.

“The Biden DOJ was prepared to give him [Hunter] complete and total immunity for any and all criminal conduct, especially, the criminal conduct that implicated his father, and that really, I believe, was the entire objective of this whole thing,” Cruz continued.

However, Politico reported in 2021 that Secret Service agents asked the owner of the store where Hunter purchased the gun to hand over paperwork from the sale in 2018, which the owner refused to do, though he later provided it to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Neither Joe Biden nor Hunter Biden were under the protection of the Secret Service at the time.

Special counsel David Weiss requested to dismiss tax charges filed against Hunter Biden in August in order to refile in another venue, a motion District Judge Maryellen Noreika approved. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel in August.

Biden’s initial plea deal, which would have had him plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion agreement allowing him to avoid jail time for the felony gun charge, fell apart under Noreika’s questioning during a July 26 hearing after she highlighted a section of the diversion agreement promising broad immunity for future charges.

Weiss and the White House did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Hunter Biden Indicted On Three Gun Charges

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has been indicted on felony gun charges in Delaware, according to a partially redacted court filing by Department of Justice (DOJ) special counsel David Weiss.

Biden was indicted Thursday on three counts for providing false statements and knowingly possessing the gun while he was addicted to drugs, in connection with the acquisition of a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018, the indictment states. He faces a maximum prison sentence of ten years for the first and third offenses, with the second offense holding a maximum of five years, according to a defendant information sheet.

“Robert Hunter Biden, provided a written statement on Form 4473 certifying that he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to, any stimulant narcotic drug, and any other controlled substance, when in fact, as he knew, the statement was false and fictitious,” the indictment reads.

READ THE FULL INDICTMENT:

The DOJ said in a Sept. 6 status report that it was seeking an indictment for Biden’s felony gun charge by the end of the month. Biden’s legal team responded by arguing the pretrial diversion agreement proposed by the DOJ is legally valid, a notion the DOJ has disputed.

Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty in July to two tax misdemeanors and sign a pretrial diversion agreement to avoid jail times for a felony gun charge. His plea agreement collapsed when Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika scrutinized an immunity provision tucked into the diversion agreement, resulting in a dispute between Biden’s defense counsel and DOJ special attorney Leo Wise.

Biden’s defense counsel Christopher J. Clark withdrew from the case in August because of his role in the failed guilty plea negotiations. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss special counsel in August and Weiss immediately requested to withdraw Biden’s two tax offenses to potentially charge him in a different jurisdiction. Noreika granted Weiss’ request and dismissed the tax charge without prejudice.

The House Ways and Means, Oversight and Judiciary Committees continue to investigate IRS whistleblower testimony accusing the DOJ of giving Hunter Biden special treatment in the tax case against him. House Oversight is also investigating Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and the role Joe Biden played in his son’s affairs.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday the House Ways and Means, Oversight and Judiciary Committees will be spearheading the House’s impeachment inquiry into Hunter Biden.

This is a breaking news story and it will be updated.

Kevin McCarthy Announces House GOP To Launch Impeachment Inquiry Into President Biden

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced Tuesday that the Republican Party will move forward with an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and other House Republicans have continued to pressure McCarthy to move forward with an impeachment inquiry. The speaker said he now believes there is enough evidence stemming from the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into the president.

He made the announcement outside the Speaker’s office in the U.S. Capitol.

“Today, I am directing our House Committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” McCarthy said. “This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. That’s exactly what we want to know: the answers.”

The House GOP was expected to vote on an impeachment inquiry; however, McCarthy did not mention holding a vote to move forward with the inquiry during Tuesday’s statement.

WATCH:

Citing the testimony of two Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers, McCarthy said in July that an impeachment inquiry would help Republicans better access documents detailing alleged misconduct from government officials benefiting Hunter Biden. Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik has endorsed McCarthy’s’ position, which Democrats adopted in 2019 during former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment.

In May, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced articles of impeachment against Biden during a press conference.

White House spokesperson Ian Sams said Tuesday morning that “[t]he House GOP investigations have turned up no evidence of wrongdoing by POTUS [President Biden]. In fact, their own witnesses have testified to that, and their own documents have showed no link to POTUS.”

REPORT: White House War Room Prepares To Fight McCarthy Impeachment Inquiry

The White House has set up a war room of two dozen lawyers, legislative aides and communications staffers to prepare a response to a potential GOP impeachment effort against President Joe Biden, a White House aide familiar with the strategy told NBC News.

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy said Sunday that an impeachment inquiry into Biden is a “natural step forward,” adding that he plans to bring the inquiry to Congress when it returns in September. Since McCarthy’s comments, White House aides have used the August recess to research GOP’s statements and to polish their response to a possible impeachment inquiry, a source familiar with the strategy told NBC News.

“Comparing this to past impeachments isn’t apples to apples or even apples to oranges; it’s apples to elephants,” the White House aide told the outlet. “Never in modern history has an impeachment been based on no evidence whatsoever.”

The White House’s preparation for an impeachment inquiry began once the House flipped to a Republican majority earlier in 2023, NBC News reported.

McCarthy began discussing moving forward with impeachment inquiries if the Department of Justice (DOJ) used David Weiss’s position as special counsel to prevent the House Oversight Committee from investigating Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden pled not guilty to two tax misdemeanors after his plea deal and diversion agreement collapsed because scrutiny from U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika led to a disagreement between the DOJ and Hunter Biden’s legal team.

The DOJ alerted the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that it would not cooperate with subpoenas for two FBI agents as part of the committee’s investigation into IRS whistleblower testimony allegedly showing the DOJ gave Hunter Biden special treatment in its investigation for alleged tax and gun crimes.

As a model for their response, Biden’s aides have studied the time the House attempted to impeach President Bill Clinton in 1998, a source familiar with the strategy told NBC News. The aides believe the current possibility of a GOP impeachment inquiry is “not an evidence-based effort; it’s an election-focused effort,” a person familiar with the Biden campaign’s thinking told the outlet.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: From One Unapologetic Media Hoax To The Next

Joe Biden lied repeatedly when he claimed he knew nothing of his son Hunter’s influence-peddling businesses.

The president further prevaricated that he had no involvement in Hunter’s various shake down schemes.

Yet, the media continued to misinform by serially ignoring these facts.

Had journalists just been honest and independent, then-candidate Joe Biden might have lost a presidential debate and even the 2020 election. The public would have learned that Hunter’s business associates and his laptop proved Joe was deeply involved in his son’s illicit businesses.

Later, as the evidence from IRS whistleblowers mounted, the White House stonewalled subpoenaed efforts and sought to craft an outrageous plea deal reduction in Hunter’s legal exposure.

Reporters ignored the Ukrainians who claimed Joe Biden himself talked to them about quid pro quo arrangements.

They again discounted Hunter’s laptop that explicitly demonstrated that Hunter was whining that he had handed over large percentages of his income to his father Joe — variously referred to as the Big Guy and a “ten percent” recipient on many deals.

They played dumb about Joe Biden’s use of pseudonyms and alias email accounts to hide thousands of his communications to Hunter and associates.

They attacked the former Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who now claims Biden was likely bribed by Ukrainians.

Yet the media can no longer hide the reality that the president of the United States likely took bribes to influence or alter U.S. policy to suit his payers. Those two crimes — bribery and treason — are specifically delineated in the Constitution as impeachable offenses.

In denial, the media has instead pivoted with hysterical glee over various weaponized prosecutions of former President Donald Trump.

But now, to use a progressive catchphrase, the proverbial “walls are closing in” on Joe Biden.

So will we at last expect the media finally to confront the truth?

Answer — only if Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical health continues to deteriorate geometrically to the point that he can no longer finish his term or run for reelection — and thus becomes expendable.

Such a cynical view of the media is justified given their record of both incompetence and unapologetic deceit.

From 2015 to 2019, we were suffocated 24/7 with lies like “Russian collusion,” “Putin’s puppet,” “election rigging” and the “Steele dossier.”

When all such “evidence” was proven to be a complete fraud cooked up through Hillary Clinton’s stealthy hiring of and collusion with a discredited ex-British spy, a Russian fabulist at the Brookings Institution and a Clinton toady in Moscow, did the media apologize for their untruth?

Was there any media confessional that perhaps Robert Mueller and his left wing legal team (the giddy media-dubbed “all-stars,” “dream team” and “hunter killers”) proved a colossal waste of time?

Not at all.

Instead, the media went next right on to “the phone call” and “impeachment.”

The country then wasted another year.

The same biased reporters now claimed that the heroic Alexander Vindman had caught Trump fabricating lies about the Bidens — given Joe Biden was a possible 2020 opponent — to force Ukraine to investigate them or lose American foreign aid.

On that accusation Trump was impeached.

Then the truth emerged that unlike Joe Biden, Trump never threatened to cancel aid, but merely to delay it.

Trump was right that the Bidens were knee deep in Ukrainian bribes and influence peddling.

And that the whistleblower had no first-hand knowledge of the Trump call but was spoon fed a script cooked up by the gadfly Vindman and California Rep. Adam Schiff.

The result was journalistic glee that we impeached a president for crimes that he did not commit but exempted another president, Biden, who had likely committed them.

Then came the next hoax of the Russian fabricated facsimile of Hunter’s laptop.

The 2020 Biden campaign along with an ex-CIA head rounded up “51 intelligence authorities” to mislead the country into believing that Russian gremlins in the Kremlin had fabricated a fake laptop.

Ponder that absurd fantasy: Moscow supposedly had created fake nude pictures, fake photos of Hunter’s drug use and fake email and text messages from Hunter to the other Bidens.

The media preposterously convinced the country that the Russians and by extension Trump had once again sandbagged the Biden campaign.

No apologies followed when the FBI later admitted it had kept the laptop under wraps for more than a year, knew it was authentic and yet said nothing as the media and former spooks misled the country and warped an election.

Now we are enmeshed in at least four court trials on cooked-up charges that could as easily apply to a host of Democrats as to Trump.

For the last eight years, a discredited media has never expressed remorse for any of the damage they did to the country. And they will not again, when their latest mythological indictments are eventually exposed.

Biden’s Terror Funding Just Killed an Israeli Preschool Teacher

Terror deaths fell every year under Trump and rose every year under Biden.

Last year, Biden met with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas and boasted that, “I reversed the policies of my predecessor and resumed aid to the Palestinians — more than a half a billion dollars in 2021.”

Batsheva Nigri, a preschool teacher, was riding in a car with her six-year-old daughter when Islamic terrorists from the Palestinian Authority’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade cut them off and riddled the car with 22 bullets. Batsheva’s six-year-old daughter watched her mother die.

The Palestinian Authority’s terror group hailed the murder of a 42-year-old preschool teacher as a “natural response to the crimes of the occupation” and as revenge for Denis Michael Rohan, a non-Jewish Australian tourist, starting a fire in the Al Aqsa occupation mosque in 1969.

Those who knew the preschool teacher described her as a woman with a “heart of gold” to whom “all the children were like her children.” Hamas and Islamic Jihad however claimed that her murder glorifies Allah.

Monday’s murder comes after an Israeli father and son were shot to death on the Sabbath. They’re among a growing list of terror victims this year ranging in age from a 6-year-old boy run down on a Jerusalem street to an 82-year-old woman who was killed while trying to get her disabled husband to safety when a rocket hit their building.

The twenty-six terror victims are a sharp increase from the only 3 deaths in 2020 when the Trump administration’s cutoff of aid to the terrorists occupying parts of Israel took effect.

The number of terror victims fell every year Trump was in office, from 15 in 2017, to 12 in 2018, 10 in 2019 and then only 3 in 2020. And the number of terror victims shot up every year Biden was in office from 17 in 2021, to 31 in 2022, and there is every sign that 2023 will top that.

Twice as many Israelis were killed in one month of Biden than in one year of Trump.

It’s only August and already 26 Israelis have been killed by Islamic terrorists. Last year at this time 18 Israelis had been killed by terrorists making for a 40% increase in 2023.

What made all the difference? As Rep. Ilhan Omar once said, “It’s all about the ‘benjamins’”.

In 2018, Congress passed the Taylor Force Act, named after an Iraq War veteran who was stabbed to death by a terrorist in Jerusalem, which cut off most aid to the Palestinian Authority. In 2019, President Trump went even further with a nearly total cutoff of aid to the Palestinian Authority. Biden not only restored aid, he sharply increased the flow of cash to the terrorists.

Biden’s half a billion dollars helped fuel a massive surge in Islamic terrorism. While the money is officially listed as humanitarian aid, injecting money into terror zones funds terrorism.

The Palestinian Authority maintains a ‘pay-to-slay’ program which pays salaries to terrorists based on the lengths of their prison sentences. That means successful killers can earn $3,000 a month in a part of the world where the average salary is around $700 a month. It’s five times more profitable to be a terrorist than a teacher.

That’s the price of Batsheva’s life and that is what the Biden administration has been paying for.

The Biden administration is well aware that the Palestinian Authority funds terrorism. While Biden and Secretary of State Blinken refused to raise the issue with terror leader Mahmoud Abbas, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf claimed, “we are working to bring pay-to-slay to an end.” Instead the United States is funding pay-to-slay.

And worse.

Recent documents reveal that the State Department applied for an OFAC license which exempts it from Global Terrorist Sanctions Regulations in order to provide foreign aid.

A government sanctions exemption document warned that, “we assess there is a high risk Hamas could potentially derive indirect, unintentional benefit from U.S. assistance to Gaza. There is less but still some risk U.S. assistance would benefit other designated groups.”

The Biden administration knows that it’s funding terrorism. It is not only aware of it but it actually applied for an exemption in order to be able to continue funding terrorists… including Hamas.

Batsheva’s murder, like that of the 74 terror victims killed under Biden, was paid for directly and indirectly through foreign aid to terrorists and sanctions relief on Iran’s terror regime. These policies were not undertaken in ignorance, the OFAC documents provide clear evidence that the Biden administration had been warned that it was funding terrorism and that people would die.

That’s why the number of Israelis continues to climb every year that Biden has been in office.

After 7 Israelis, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in a Sabbath terrorist attack outside a synagogue in January 2023, Secretary of State Blinken met with Mahmoud Abbas and promised another $50 million to UNRWA which acts as the employment agency for Hamas. Earlier that same month, the Biden administration warned Israel to turn over $39 million in tax revenues to terrorists rather than providing that money to help terror victims rebuild their lives.

In August, with 4 Israelis already murdered, the Biden administration demanded that Republicans stop blocking $75 million in “humanitarian aid” to the UN agency. Sen. Jim Risch and Rep. Michael McCaul are determined to block that aid until Secretary of State Blinken certifies that UNRWA “is not affiliated with U.S. designated foreign terrorist organizations”. And yet the Biden administration can’t seem to even manage to clear that lowest of legal bars.

In Batsheva’s hometown of Efrat, which the Biden administration considers an “illegal settlement” despite being referenced numerous times in the bible, the children have lost a teacher and a friend.

The murdered preschool teacher had been on the way to “prepare the kindergarten for the start of the year.” A woman who worked with her described how “every time I entered the kindergarten, she welcomed me with a beaming smile that always accompanied her. The children were everything to her, she always hugged them and gave what she could to the children, the staff, the parents.”

Batsheva did not have to die. None of the 26 already killed this year did. The 3 dead in 2020 show what’s possible. The Biden administration is knowingly funding the murder of the innocent.

Biden Regime is Doing Everything Possible to Open Up the Border

The invasion is coming from inside the White House.

The Biden administration and its media allies keep acting as if the massive southern border invasion is something out of their control. In reality, the administration has done everything possible to keep the border open.

The Biden administration has fought any state efforts at securing the border. Its EPA sued Arizona to dismantle a wall of shipping containers being used to keep out some of the alien invaders. Its DOJ sued Texas over floating barriers on the Rio Grande.

The common theme was to not only open the border as wide as possible to accommodate the invaders, but to suppress any efforts by states to secure their borders on their own.

Now it’s actively selling off parts of the border wall so they can never be used again.

The Biden administration is quietly auctioning off millions of dollars’ worth of unused parts from former President Trump’s border wall for peanuts – in an apparent end-run around pending legislation in Congress.

Since April, GovPlanet, an online auction house specializing in military surplus, has sold 81 lots of steel “square structural tubes” — intended for use as vertical bollards in the border barrier’s 30-foot-tall panels — hauling in about $2 million.

On Tuesday, GovPlanet netted $154,200 for 729 of the 28-foot-tall hollow beams, sold in five separate lots for an average $212 apiece.

Thirteen more lots are set to be auctioned on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30.

Up to $300 million worth of taxpayer-funded wall components have been left to rust since Biden came to office, Republicans have said.

The Finish It Act will make the feds use those materials on new wall construction — or hand the remaining stock over to states like Texas for use in their own border defense projects.

Now, the Biden administration is rushing to get rid of the wall leftovers before the GOP-led House can pass a matching version of the bill and make it law, critics told The Post.

None of this is accidental. Not the invasion or the concerted effort to eliminate all forms of border security.

All of this is deliberate.

The invasion is coming from inside the White House.

Biden Gets Drowned Out By Boos As He Tries To Speak With Reporters During Lake Tahoe Vacation

President Joe Biden was drowned out by loud booing from a crowd in Lake Tahoe as he spoke with reporters Friday, video shows.

The onlookers booed Biden as he left a pilates class and spoke to reporters during his family vacation in Lake Tahoe. The Bidens, including first son Hunter Biden, are currently on a weeklong vacation to Lake Tahoe, staying at the home of billionaire climate activist and Democratic megadonor Tom Steyer.

“Have you seen Donald Trump’s mugshot yet?” a reporter asked the president. Former President Donald Trump had his mug shot taken at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office after surrendering in Georgia on Thursday night. Trump and 18 others are facing charges for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state.

“I did see it on television,” Biden answered as he continued to receive loud booing from the crowd.

“What did you think?” the reporter asked.

“Handsome guy,” Biden said as the yelling continued.

As the Biden family vacations at Steyer’s multi-million dollar mansion in Nevada, the Department of Justice and House Republicans are continuing their investigations into the younger Biden. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty in July to two tax misdemeanors, while the diversion agreement for his felony gun charge dissolved under scrutiny from Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika.

Officials launched an investigation into Steyer over his alleged violation of Vacation Home Rental (VHR) policies regarding the rental of his home to the Biden family. A local resident reportedly filed a claim earlier in August, alleging Steyer did not have a VHR permit. The complaint was “being researched,” VHR Program Manager Ernie Strehlow told the Daily Caller on Aug. 21.

‘They Were Being Bribed’: Fired Ukrainian Prosecutor Blames Dismissal On Biden ‘Corruption’

The Ukrainian prosecutor fired following pressure from then-Vice President Joe Biden alleged his firing was due to “corruption” in the Biden family.

Biden boasted about forcing the Ukrainian government to fire Viktor Shokin, a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma, an energy company, during an event held by the Council on Foreign Relations. Biden’s son, Hunter, was appointed to the board of Burisma in 2014.

“I do not want to deal in unproven facts, but my firm personal conviction is that, yes, this was the case,” Shokin said in a clip from an interview that will air on Fox News Saturday. “They were being bribed. The fact that Joe Biden gave away $1 billion in U.S. money in exchange for my dismissal, my firing, isn’t that alone a case of corruption?”

Republican Sen. Charles Grassley released the FD-1023 form containing allegations that the Bidens received millions of dollars in bribes obtained from a whistleblower on July 20. The document, which recounted what a “confidential human source” (CHS) told the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in June 2020, says that a top Burisma executive felt he was “pushed to pay” the Bidens.

Shokin had been investigating Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma during his Hunter’s tenure at the company. Biden later bragged about forcing Shokin’s ouster.

“I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden said. “Well, son of a bitch. He got fired.”

Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, told investigators that then-Vice President Joe Biden spoke with his son, Hunter, “more than 20 times about their business deals,” according to Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

The New York Post reported on the contents of a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden at a Delaware computer repair shop on Oct. 14, 2020 that included emails related to business dealings by the Biden family.

The Daily Caller News Foundation confirmed the authenticity of one of the emails in October 2020. The Washington Post and New York Times confirmed the authenticity of the data in March 2022 in articles about investigations into Hunter Biden by the Department of Justice.

‘He Needs To Resign’: Gold Star Families Call On Biden To Admit Mistakes In Afghanistan Withdrawal

On the two-year anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal, Gold Star parents are calling for the Biden administration to admit its mistakes and to honor the fallen.

The Daily Caller spoke to the parents of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, Marine Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, Marine Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover and Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui — five of the service members who were killed in the Abbey Gate terror attack at the Kabul airport on Aug. 26 of 2021.

The Gold Star families called for President Joe Biden to resign and expressed frustration at the president’s lack of accountability for the chaotic withdrawal. They also requested for the 13 service members killed in the Abbey Gate terror bombing to be honored at the White House, and for Biden to finally say their names.

‘Biden Never Said The 13 Names’

The frustration at the lack of a sufficient response from Biden is greater on the second anniversary than the first, the parents told the Caller.

“This year is so different … I’m so frustrated, I’m so mad. I can’t believe that they did that to our kids,” said Carol Briseno, the mother of Cpl. Sanchez. Sanchez was 22 years old and had been reassigned to the Kabul airport after serving as an Embassy Guard in Jordan.

“Nobody’s paying for what they did. Nobody is saying ‘yes we messed up’ and ‘I’m sorry,’” Briseno added. “Biden never said the 13 names. He didn’t say the names because he knows that he failed. That he actually failed our kids and failed our families and messed up.”

Around the one year anniversary, Biden put out a statement with the 13 names. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she had “nothing to share” about what the president would do to commemorate the deadly withdrawal.

Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Staff Sgt. Hoover, said the two year anniversary of the withdrawal is especially frustrating given that Biden still hasn’t “acknowledged our kids.”

“Biden hasn’t said our kids’ names once. Not a single time,” he told the Caller. “These kids need to be celebrated. They need to be thanked … They need to have their names said, have them be remembered.”

Darin Taylor Hoover was on his third tour of Afghanistan and had served in the Marines for 11 years when he was killed.

Steven Nikoui, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Nikoui, said he was surprised at the lack of sympathy from the Biden administration over the loss of the 13 service members. His son Kareem was 20 years old and had joined JROTC before becoming a Marine.

“As far as any sympathy from the administration in the last two years, there has been none. That was very surprising to me,” Nikoui said. “I thought, you know, they would have reached out at some point … but that hasn’t happened. As far as learning more information about how everything had played out … we have an enormous amount of information, of steps  of just careless steps that were taken.”

“This administration needs to honor them at the White House on the lawn. There needs to be 13 pictures of these service people on that lawn — and this president, this administration needs to honor it,” Nikoui added. “I think maybe he’s trying to hide, you know, like, out of sight out of mind when you’re a kid and you’re scared. You put your covers over your head. There’s no boogeyman in the closet, right? It’s kinda like this all happened, and by not acknowledging them, I will acknowledge that this bad never happened.”

Christy Shamblin, the mother of Marine Sgt. Gee, also called on the president to host the families at the White House to honor those fallen in the withdrawal. Nicole Gee had joined the Marines in 2017 and was 23 years old when she died.

“I would love to meet with President Biden and have him outline the successes because I don’t see them,” Shamblin told the Caller. “I know that there are successes and families that are vetted and the ones who are making lives here but you know to celebrate a few victories in the middle of a catastrophe is not really rational.”

‘And I Left Weeping’

Paula Knauss Selph, the mother of Army Staff Sgt. Knauss, said she was invited to meet Biden during a Memorial Day breakfast in 2022, but that she left weeping after the president refused to take a picture near the grave of her son. Ryan Knauss had joined the U.S. Army in 2016 and was 23 years old.

“He looked me directly in the eyes as I approached him, and he said, ‘I can understand if you’re angry,’” Knauss Selph said, describing walking up to Biden in the Oval Office.

“I looked him in the eye, and with grief in my face, I said, weeping, ‘It should have never happened. We should have never lost our children,’” Knauss Selph continued. “And I was weeping and I leaned into him thinking that he might hug me or say something, like ‘I’m so sorry. I feel awful about this’ or ‘I’m so sorry about the loss of your son.’ Or something — something in condolence or anything to justify that moment of time where you share your heart with somebody. He spoke a few words with me and then he looked at me and said… ‘Would you like to get a photo with me?’”

“And I said, ‘Sir, I tell you what — if you want me to go over to hear you speak at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then when you finish, I’d like you to walk down the hill with me, beside my son’s graveside, at his tombstone and take that photo,’” the mother said.

“He looked at me and said, ‘Oh, I can’t do that. Can’t do that. Secret Service won’t let me do that.’ And I said, ‘Well then, sir, I can’t take that photo.’ And I left weeping,” she continued.

“I’ve already met him in person and know his character. I personally know his character. So when I said to those who were interested in meeting with him, I said, ‘Well, when he decides he wants to meet with us, just let me know if he still wants to take that photo with Ryan,’” Knauss Selph said.

Biden Should Resign

Briseno and Hoover directly called on Biden to resign over his actions surrounding the Afghanistan withdrawal.

“I would say he needs to resign. Because something else is going to happen and he’s not there 100 percent to take decisions and he needs to resign. Two years ago it was the 13 kids. Maybe next month it’s going to be some other parents losing kids or any other stupid decision that he’s not capable to take,” Briseno said.

“There is General Milley. There’s Secretary Austin, there’s Secretary Blinken. McKenzie can be involved in that decision as well. Resign. The president needs to resign. Admit their faults,” Hoover said.

If Biden “can’t stand up and, in the words of our son Taylor, ‘be a grown-ass man and admit your problems,’ then absolutely resign. Absolutely, 100 percent resign. Leave it to somebody else that will step up. And take the place and become a leader,” Hoover added, noting that “our kids had more integrity in their little pinky toes than any one of those men combined.”

No Transparency

The Gold Star families also expressed frustration at the limited information the administration has provided about the terror attack, saying they receive a different account from those who were actually on the ground.

“We know the truth because … my kid’s friends told me exactly what happened. So I have the truth. I just want [Biden] to actually agree,” Briseno said, adding that the Department of Defense (DOD) report she received was heavily redacted.

In March, Marine Corps Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews testified before Congress that he had spotted who he believed to be suicide bomber from their sniper perch, but was denied permission to engage by battalion commander Lt. Col. Brad Whited.

“We asked if we could shoot. Our battalion commander said, ‘I don’t know,’” Vargas-Andrews told Congress at the time.

“I want full transparency. I want everything. Tell us. We talked to the guys that were there. I’ve talked to a couple of special ops people that were training for and had another plan in place. Before Biden came, his administration came in, they were executing it and training for it,” Hoover told the Caller.

“It’s disheartening. I mean it’s absolutely disheartening. They need to come out and say, ‘You know what? We screwed up and here’s where. We take responsibility for this and this is why.’ We’re not doing any of that. Now I understand if there’s some things that are national security, tell us that, but tell us the rest of it. Why? Why did you do it this way? Why were they put in harm’s way in a manner that they were and ultimately this is what happened?” Hoover added.

Call For Change

Even two years later, the administration can still make amends with the families and the fallen service members by being more transparent and honoring the 13 men and women, the Gold Star parents told the Caller.

“I want to see honesty and transparency. Again, I’m a very proud mother of service members. I understand national security and I understand information I don’t need, but the things we’re asking for are, you know, our kids’ pictures, their memories, their cell phones, their SIM cards. And again, I understood understand they were in, while it was called a peaceful evacuation, they were in a war zone … We would like that transparency,” Shamblin said.

“It’s important to me that not only my daughter, but everybody that was celebrated and honored correctly and to do that it has to be honest and transparent,” she added. “It can’t be hidden behind ulterior motives.”

But more importantly, the parents asked that the memory of their children not be forgotten.

“The next thing. Don’t forget our kids. Please don’t forget our children,” Hoover said. “They ended this war and they ended it with their lives. Continue to say their names. Because if their names are not spoken, that’s when they are taken from us. And that’s the only thing the only two things I asked, being grateful, say their names. And never forget their sacrifices.”

The White House did not respond to an inquiry from the Daily Caller.

Biden Campaign Refuses To Commit To Debate With Trump

The Biden campaign refused to say whether the president would commit to debating former President Donald Trump.

“To be honest with you, we haven’t really had any substantive conversations about that yet,” the Biden campaign’s Communications Director, Michael Tyler, told reporters Tuesday, according to NBC.

Biden is unlikely to debate any Democrats in the 2024 election cycle. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is not hosting any debates given that Biden is the incumbent. His challengers, Robert F. Kennedy and Marianne Williamson, have called for the president to debate them, but his campaign has not announced any plans to do so.

Trump and Biden debated twice in the 2020 election.

Trump has also bowed out of at least the first Republican debate and posted that he would not be doing “debates” — using the plural.

“The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had, with Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, & much more. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!” Trump announced on Truth Social.

Eight Republican candidates will be taking the stage for the first debate Wednesday in Milwaukee, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Biden’s campaign said that Trump doesn’t have to be at the debate for his “extreme agenda” to be there.

“Whether he’s on the stage or not, his extreme agenda will be,” senior Biden campaign advisor Cedric Richmond told reporters, NBC reported. “And the only thing that will be missed is the chaos, the disruption, the bullying, the name-calling of former President Trump.”

The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to an inquiry from the Daily Caller.

Biden To Vacation With Hunter At Home Of Billionaire Climate Activist And Dem Megadonor

President Joe Biden will be joined by his son, Hunter, as he embarks on yet another lengthy vacation at a property belonging to billionaire climate activist and Democratic megadonor Tom Steyer at Lake Tahoe, Nevada, according to multiple reports.

Biden has faced criticism for remaining largely silent on the wildfire disaster in Maui, Hawaii, and vacationing on the beach in Delaware. The president is renting Steyer’s home at “fair market value” through the remainder of the week, with Hunter and multiple other family members in attendance, according to multiple reports.

Steyer ran against Biden for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, and withdrew from the race in February after placing third in South Carolina’s primary. The prominent climate activist threw his support behind Biden’s presidential bid months later.

The former candidate encouraged Biden to lean into more left-wing policies to combat climate change in his presidential bid and appeal to a younger electorate concerned with such issues, according to Politico. Steyer later met with Biden’s campaign to express interest about a role in his then-potential administration.

Biden and the First Lady arrived at the Lake Tahoe home late Friday evening, but are planning to visit the Hawaiian island devastated by wildfires on Monday. The president will then return to his vacation where he and his family will remain until next Saturday, according to Bloomberg.

The president drew backlash last week after appearing to respond with “no comment” when asked about the Maui disaster while relaxing on the beach in Delaware.

The Biden family vacation comes a week after U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed David Weiss as special counsel to continue investigating Hunter. Weiss received sharp criticism for a plea deal between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Hunter that included a pretrial diversion agreement, which would have immunized the president’s son from certain future prosecutions had it not collapsed.

Neither the White House nor Steyer immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

Biden Regime Tells Families of Victims that 9/11 Jihad Plotters Could be Spared Death Penalty

No surprise here. Biden’s handlers likely want this whole thing to go away, as does everyone else, which is why it has gone on so long without these jihadis being tried or sentenced. No one wants to deal with jihadis; they’d rather pretend they don’t exist.

Biden administration tells 9/11 families that attack mastermind, 4 others could be spared death penalty

by Victor Nava, New York Post, August 16, 2023:

The Pentagon and FBI have notified some of the families of victims of the 9/11 attacks that suspected terrorist mastermind Kalid [sic] Sheikh Mohammed and four other defendants could be spared the death penalty under plea agreements being considered by the Biden administration.

The notice came in the form of a letter, obtained by the Associated Press, that was sent to 9/11 families as the government explores how to resolve the more than decade-long prosecution of the alleged terrorists.

“The Office of the Chief Prosecutor has been negotiating and is considering entering into pre-trial agreements,” the letter informs families, adding that while no plea agreement “has been finalized, and may never be finalized, it is possible that a [pre-trial agreement] in this case would remove the possibility of the death penalty.”

The Associated Press reports that in the letter, dated Aug. 1, military prosecutors pledge to consider the views of the 9/11 families before accepting any plea deals, and the note asks recipients to respond to the FBI’s victim services division by Monday with any comments or questions about the potential agreements.

The case involving Mohammed and the four others currently being held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has been mired in legal disputes and delays, particularly concerning the “enhanced interrogation techniques” used by CIA operatives after the men were apprehended….

No trial date has been set for the five suspected 9/11 conspirators.

The Trump administration had previously ruled out any plea bargains with the suspected terrorists, who have been held at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp since 2006….

Biden Regime Says Iran Won’t Able to Buy Weapons With $6,000,000,000 Ransom, Iran Says It Will

“Iran will have full and direct access to its released assets”

Tough question. Whom do you believe, the terrorists or their accomplices?

After announcing a $6 billion ransom for 5 hostages, the Biden administration is claiming that the money, stored in Qatar, an ally of Iran, will only be used for “humanitarian purposes”.

Iran is denying that.

White House spokesperson John Kirby told reporters that the United States would have “full visibility” into where any released Iranian funds are directed and used. An estimated $6 billion in Iranian assets are now held in South Korea.

“Essentially, the funds can only be accessed for food, medicine, medical equipment that would not have a dual military use,” he said. “And there will be a rigorous process of due diligence and standards applied with input from the U.S. Treasury Department.”

I’m old enough that I remember when Kirby and the administration were promising the same thing in Afghanistan. Then the State Department decided it wouldn’t cooperate with the Afghanistan watchdog or let employees talk to investigators without a lawyer present.

So I’m sure we can trust these fine folks who have never blatantly lied to us before and never will again.

“This is a dishonest claim manufactured by bitter people. Iran will have full and direct access to its released assets, there will be no Qatari companies involved, Iranian banks will have full control, and they can purchase goods and services without any limitation or restriction,” a top advisor to the Iranian negotiating team tweeted.

No need to worry. Humanitarian aid never funds terrorism. Never, ever.

Between January 2012 and March 2018, USAID provided $2.6 billion in funding to public international organizations and an additional $2 billion to NGOs operating in Iraq and Syria. A partial audit by USAID’s Office of the Inspector General of funds given to public international organizations revealed that the agency provided nearly $700 million in awards without an adequate system in place to ensure that members of terrorist groups would not be beneficiaries. As of January 2018, official investigations resulted in the blacklisting of several dozen individuals and organizations and the suspension of at least $239 million in program funds in the region.

Other recipients of American funding have run into difficulty identifying groups with ties to barred terrorist organizations. When such instances come to light — like World Vision’s payment of $125,000 to the Islamic Relief Agency in Sudan, a group with alleged ties to al-Qaeda — publicly available details are often murky.

In August 2016, Israeli prosecutors charged a manager of World Vision’s Gaza branch for allegedly funneling $43 million in funding over a period of six years to Hamas’s military wing.

In 2010, the United Nations investigated the World Food Programme’s operations in Somalia following reports of corruption, piracy, and the diversion of food aid to al-Shabaab. The United Nations identified a food aid fraud scheme in which approximately 30 percent of food aid was diverted to local personnel employed by the World Food Programme, 10 percent went to the contracted ground transporter, and 5 to 10 percent went to al-Shabaab.

I’m sure the same “rigorous process of due diligence” used to release terrorists into the U.S. will be applied when it comes to sending money to an Islamic terrorist state through another Islamic terror state.

65 Jihadis Identified as ‘National Security Risks’ were Granted Entry into the U.S. after the Fall of Afghanistan

Is the Biden regime really just catastrophically incompetent, or did this operation go according to plan? It does so much to weaken the United States, can it be said with any certainty that this wasn’t another such operation?

EXCLUSIVE – 65 Afghan terrorists were let into the U.S. after Biden’s chaotic withdrawal: Prisoner freed by the Taliban and men who planted IEDs got through dire vetting processes

by Wills Robinson, DailyMail.com, August 13, 2023

Militants who left fingerprints on IEDs meant to kill Americans in Afghanistan and a prisoner freed by the Taliban were among more than 65 terrorists allowed into the United States after the catastrophic withdrawal.

Most of them could still be roaming the country, and the government cannot track them down.

The damning revelations made in a new book add to the laundry list of blunders from the Biden administration during and after the disastrous evacuation of Kabul in August 2021.

It has been two years since the two weeks of carnage at Hamid Karzai International Airport that led to the deaths of 13 American service members, hundreds of Afghans, and thousands left behind.

Yet the evidence of the U.S. government’s disastrous handling of the departure of troops after 20 years and the evacuation of allies is still coming to light.

Sixty-five individuals identified as ‘national security risks’ were granted entry into the U.S. in the 12 months after the withdrawal, Jerry Dunleavy and James Hasson write in Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden’s Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End.

The book also reveals how the Biden administration missed two chances to prevent the Kabul suicide attack and the dire impact of putting the Taliban in charge of security.

The dangerous individuals let into the U.S. included multiple men whose DNA was found on explosives defused by American forces.

Another was a prisoner ‘liberated’ by the Taliban while they were running riot across the war-torn country on the way to Kabul.

Despite assurances the Taliban wouldn’t surge to power and the US-backed Afghan government would hold, the capital toppled as the Western military left.

An Afghan-American interpreter even identified many Taliban fighters on the tarmac, ready to board flights bound for the U.S….
