The Real Un-American Act: Why Can’t the Left Celebrate American Victory?

In a nation that claims to love sports, we seem to have forgotten one of the most fundamental joys of being a fan: celebrating when our team wins. We just witnessed a moment that should have united the country. At the Winter Olympics, the U.S. Men’s Hockey team delivered a stunning, historic victory against Canada, clinching our first gold medal in the event in nearly half a century. It was a gritty, against-the-odds triumph—a true “Miracle on Ice” sequel.

Yet, instead of a collective roar of approval, a segment of the American media and political left spent the following days in a state of fury. Their target? FBI Director Kash Patel, who visited the team in the locker room to celebrate and drink with them.

The reaction to Patel’s celebration is a textbook case of a sickness that has poisoned American politics: a derangement so severe that it prevents people from recognizing a moment of national pride. The hypocrisy on display is staggering, and it reveals a deep-seated problem with how the left views patriotism today.

Let’s look at the two sides of this coin.

On one hand, you have Kash Patel, an American of Indian origin, beaming with pride and excitement in a locker room full of American Men Hockey National Team. He wasn’t giving a political speech; he was sharing in their joy. He was an American citizen, celebrating an American victory. For this, he was met with scorn. The message from the left is clear: if you are associated with this administration, you are not allowed to display patriotism. Your joy in your country’s success is somehow offensive.

On the other hand, look at the recent Super Bowl halftime show. The performance was celebrated by the very same media voices now condemning Director Kash Patel. The set featured a sea of flags from other nations, and the performance was predominantly in a foreign language. It was, by design, a celebration of inclusiveness, of how immigrants are part of American success story, which is fine. But the contrast is jarring. When a performer flies the flag of another country, it’s called “inclusive” and “groundbreaking.” When an American patriot, specifically one who works for Donald Trump, celebrates an American win, he is called a partisan hack who doesn’t belong there.

This is the double standard that defines the modern left. They have become so blinded by their hatred for President Trump that they can no longer distinguish between a political rally and a moment of national celebration. They have conflated “America” with “the administration,” and in doing so, they have alienated themselves from the very concept of the homeland.

This isn’t about politics; it’s about humanity. In Country Nigeria, when the Super Eagles (Men National Soccer Team) take the field, the nation unites. Politicians from warring parties stand side-by-side to congratulate the team. The win transcends the bitter divisions of the day. That is the power of sports. It is a unifier.

What we are seeing from the left is the opposite of that. It is a refusal to be unified. It is a refusal to acknowledge that a win for the U.S. Hockey Team is a win for every American, regardless of who sits in the Oval Office. By attacking Patel for his joy, they are essentially saying they would rather America lose than see a Trump official smile about a win.

This behavior is not just “liberal”; it is deeply cynical and, frankly, un-American. There is nothing wrong with loving your country. There is nothing wrong with being happy when the United States defeats a rival on the world stage. It is not a crime. It is not a scandal. It is called patriotism.

Director Patel had every right to be there. He had every right to be proud. The only shameful behavior here belongs to those who, sitting behind their keyboards, tried to turn a moment of American triumph into yet another culture war battlefield.

These people need to get over their hatred. They need to realize that rooting for America’s success—on the ice, on the field, or in the world—does not make you a villain. It makes you an American. And under this administration’s leadership, we are going to keep winning. It’s time they either get on board or get out of the way.

FBI Agrees To Hunt Fugitive Dems Fleeing Texas Redistricting Vote

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agreed to help locate Texas Democratic lawmakers who left the state to block a vote on a redistricting plan, Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn announced Thursday.

Cornyn said the FBI agreed to his request to help track down dozens of lawmakers who fled Texas in an attempt to block the vote, according to a New York Times (NYT) report.

Cornyn requested the FBI’s assistance in a letter Tuesday, claiming the Democratic lawmakers may have broken state bribery laws in backing efforts to block a vote on Texas’ redistricting plan by allegedly accepting funds from outside groups.

Groups connected to billionaire donor George Soros and failed Texas candidate Beto O’Rourke are allegedly covering expenses for Democrats who fled the state to oppose the Republican redistricting effort, The Texas Tribune reported.

“I am proud to announce that Director Kash Patel has approved my request for the FBI to assist state and local law enforcement in locating runaway Texas House Democrats,” Cornyn said in a statement.

“I thank President Trump and Director Patel for supporting and swiftly acting on my call for the federal government to hold these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing Texas.”

The deployment of federal agents could spark a conflict between the Trump administration and Illinois officials, where many of the missing Democrats are staying.

The Texas lawmakers have been staying at a hotel in St. Charles, Illinois, outside Chicago, the NYT reported.

While their location is no secret, the Democrats apparently believed they were safe from arrest since they were outside the reach of Texas law enforcement.

As of publication, it is uncertain whether federal agents will take any action, or what role they might ultimately play in locating the lawmakers, the NYT noted.

Democrat Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker responded to the idea that federal agents could be deployed against the Texas lawmakers present in his state.

“There literally is no federal law applicable to this situation, none they can say that they’re sending FBI,” Pritzker said Wednesday, according to the NYT.

He implied that federal law enforcement might be deployed to pressure or intimidate the lawmakers, even without grounds for arrest, the outlet reported.

“The FBI agents might show up just to, I don’t know, again, to put a show on,” he said.

Cornyn stated Thursday the FBI will help state law enforcement find the individuals who defied the law by crossing state lines.

“The FBI has tools to aid state law enforcement when parties cross state lines, including to avoid testifying or fleeing a scene of a crime,” he wrote in his letter to Patel. “Specifically, I am concerned that legislators who solicited or accepted funds to aid in their efforts to avoid their legislative duties may be guilty of bribery or other public corruption offenses.”

A total of 51 Texas lawmakers traveled to Illinois to prevent the state House from reaching a quorum, aiming to block a vote on the proposed redistricting map.

Since Sunday, many Democrats have remained in Illinois to keep Republicans from securing the necessary votes for the congressional map.

The new Texas redistricting map would reshape five Democratic-held districts to favor Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections.

The FBI declined to comment to the Daily Caller.

Most Voters Want Accountability For Russiagate, New Rasmussen Poll Shows

More than two-thirds of U.S. voters say officials behind Russiagate should be held accountable, according to a new Rasmussen poll.

The poll, conducted July 29-31 among 1,172 participants, found that 65% of likely voters have been following recent revelations about national security investigations under the Obama administration — including explosive claims that intelligence was manipulated to frame President Donald Trump.

Among the developments drawing voter attention is a 2020 congressional probe that former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe and current DNI Tulsi Gabbard have described as evidence of a “years-long coup”; the alleged discovery by FBI Director Kash Patel of a classified “Durham annex” stashed in burn bags at FBI headquarters; and other claims pointing to politically motivated intelligence manipulation.

When asked about a report stating that former President Barack Obama’s national security team “manipulated and manufactured intelligence to promote a false narrative about Russia and Donald Trump,” 54% of respondents said they believe those officials committed serious crimes.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents said it is “critical to the survival of our country” that those responsible for allegedly manipulating intelligence are held accountable, according to the poll.

The survey was released the same day reports surfaced that the Department of Justice had opened a grand jury investigation into Obama-era officials referred for their alleged role in promoting false intelligence.

“The truth always wins out. This is great news. God bless America!” Trump wrote, responding to the news on Truth Social.

Patel said Saturday the FBI may release additional documents from its headquarters in response to media outlets accusing him of lying.

“Maybe this FBI will release more docs directly, from FBI HQ… so we can see who is lying- wouldn’t want to deprive the fake news of more bogus Pulitzers,” he said.

The push for accountability appears to cut across party lines: 56% of Democrats and 75% of Republicans said they’re following the investigation closely. While 83% of Republicans believe Obama-era officials committed serious crimes, nearly a third of Democrats — 32% — said the same.

Among those who agree the officials must be held accountable, the numbers rise to 59% of Democrats and 86% of Republicans.

The poll carries a margin of error of ±3 percentage points with 95% confidence, according to Rasmussen.

FBI’s New HQ Is A Total Slap In The Face To Democrats

The FBI will relocate its moth-eaten headquarters from the Hoover Building to the Ronald Reagan Building downtown after USAID vacated the complex, officials announced Tuesday.

The shuffle caps nearly 20 years of bureaucratic waffling over where to park the nation’s premier law enforcement agency. By opting for a ready-made federal property — freshly emptied when the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) officially shuttered operations Tuesday — the Trump administration says it will save taxpayers billions while giving agents a secure, modern workplace.

“We are ushering FBI Headquarters into a new era and providing our agents of justice a safer place to work,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a press release. “Moving to the Ronald Reagan Building is the most cost effective and resource efficient way to carry out our mission to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution.”

General Services Administration (GSA) Acting Administrator Stephen Ehikian, whose agency manages the federal real estate portfolio, said the Hoover Building “has accumulated years of deferred maintenance, suffering from an aging water system to concrete following off the structure.”

USAID’s exit made the move possible. The development agency had been headquartered in the Reagan complex since 1998 but was stripped of its lease in February, according to multiple reports. Rubio confirmed the broader shutdown Tuesday, writing that USAID “will officially cease to implement foreign assistance” as its functions fold into the State Department.

The era of government-sanctioned inefficiency is OVER.

The Reagan Building already houses U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) and several private tenants. GSA says it will “work with CBP and their agency partners to fulfill their mission while the transition of the FBI to the Reagan Building commences.”

Officials have not released a firm timetable for the relocation.

What happens to the hulking brutalist Hoover block remains unclear. GSA has yet to announce whether it will pursue demolition, redevelopment or sale. Neither the GSA nor the FBI immediately responded to requests for comment.

100 Days In, Here’s How Trump Has Already Dismantled The Deep State

President Donald Trump celebrated day 100 of his administration Tuesday, and he’s already dealt several blows to the deep state — from declassifying assassination files to revoking security clearances.

Since assuming her role as head of the intelligence community (IC), Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has attempted to root out politicization. She announced the Director’s Initiatives Group (DIG), a task force aimed at promoting transparency, in early April.

Gabbard also declassified the Biden administration’s “Strategic Implementation Plan For Countering Domestic Terrorism.” The strategy targeted gun rights, hate crimes and “misinformation.”

Trump directed Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi to work with Gabbard to declassify the assassination files of President John F. Kennedy (JFK), Senator Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK).

Gabbard declassified over 10,000 pages of RFK documents in April, following the release of nearly 80,000 pages of JFK files in March.

The MLK files have yet to be released, but Gabbard previously said they will be declassified.

At Trump’s directive, Gabbard also revoked the security clearances of various officials, including the 51 former national security officials who signed the letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop emails.

The infamous letter claimed the emails the New York Post reported had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

Democratic New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken also had their security clearances revoked.

Former President Biden also no longer receives the President’s Daily Brief (PBD).

Moreover, Trump removed the security details of retired Gen. Mark Milley, John Bolton and Anthony Fauci.

While left-wing judges have attempted to thwart Trump’s agenda, particularly on immigration, the FBI recently arrested a Wisconsin judge for allegedly obstructing an immigration arrest.

“Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a since-deleted tweet.

An agency that has long abused its power, especially under the Biden administration, appears to be rolling back some firearms regulations.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) repealed Biden’s “Zero Tolerance Policy” and announced a review of two other gun regulations in April at the direction of AG Pam Bondi and then-Acting Director Kash Patel.

Trump also issued pardons to many prosecuted under the Biden administration, including around 1,500 January 6 defendants and 23 pro-life activists.

“Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government” was one of Trump’s first executive orders.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) requested information from the FBI regarding their investigations into January 6. The bureau handed over the names of employees involved in investigating January 6 to the DOJ in February, according to an email.

The president has appointed critics of the surveillance state to key positions, including Gabbard at DNI and Patel as FBI director. He’s also nominated people who have been critical of endless wars, including Elbridge Colby for Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.

Trump has also taken a hammer to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) with his executive orders. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and several intelligence agencies have targeted DEI programs in compliance with Trump’s directives.

However, there are still areas that conservatives are pushing the Trump admin to address — including the Jeffrey Epstein files.

The DOJ gave right-wing influencers binders with the first tranche of “Epstein Files,” although they reportedly contained few revelations.

Others are pressing Trump’s intelligence agencies to clean house, specifically at the FBI.

Steven Jensen, a key FBI official in the January 6 investigations, was recently promoted to assistant director in charge (ADIC) at the Washington Field Office.

Gabbard said her office would revoke the security clearances of more than 100 staffers in February over sexually explicit chat messages on a National Security Agency (NSA) platform.

EXCLUSIVE: The First Photos Of The FBI’s Arrest Of Major MS-13 Leader

The Daily Caller exclusively obtained the first photos of the FBI’s raid Thursday that resulted in the arrest of a major MS-13 leader.

Law enforcement arrested top MS-13 leader, Henry Josue Villatoro-Santos, in an early morning raid in Northern Virginia.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Virginia GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin and FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest at a press conference March 27. Villatoro-Santos, who was allegedly one of the top three leaders of the gang in the U.S., was caught just miles outside of Washington, D.C.

The FBI shared with the Caller the first photos of the raid, offering a behind the scenes look at the operation.

MS-13 is an international criminal syndicate that has been tied to countless murders, rapes and other heinous crimes across the country. The gang originated in Los Angeles, but is now largely associated with Salvadoran nationals.

“He was the leader for the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country, right here in Virginia, living half an hour outside of Washington, D.C.,” Bondi said at a joint press conference. “He is an illegal alien from El Salvador and he will not be living in our country much longer.”

“America is safer today because one of the top domestic terrorists in MS-13 is off the streets,” Bondi continued.

In two photos obtained by the Caller, FBI Director Kash Patel is seen thanking agents for their work the day of the raid.

To capture Villatoro-Santos, an FBI SWAT team breached the front and rear door of his mother’s home, the New York Post reported. After agents spotted Villatoro-Santos trying to hide and refusing to surrender, agents lobbed a stun grenade and pulled him out of the house, according to the outlet.

Bondi said on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” that Villatoro-Santos had been recruited to join the gang in middle school. According to officials, he had a stash of weapons, ammunition, and silencers in his garage when they found him.

Villatoro-Santos’ mother denied to WUSA9 News, a local outlet, that her son was a part of the gang.

Daily Caller Senior Editor Amber Duke asked Patel during Thursday’s press conference how long the gang member had been living in the United States.

“The bottom line is — for FAR too long … If you’re here for a minute, a day, a month, or a year you’ve been here far too long,” Patel answered.

How Senate Sherpa JD Vance Helped Guide MAGA’s Favorite Cabinet Picks To Confirmation

The MAGA coalition had been holding its breath for nearly two months, anxious to see if Trump’s embattled cabinet picks, Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr., could make it through confirmation.

Then, in the span of a few hours on the first Tuesday of February, both picks’ confirmation chances went from possible to almost certain as two Republican hold-outs announced they would vote in favor.

The MAGA coalition could breathe again.

Republican senators Todd Young and Bill Cassidy announced their support of Gabbard and Kennedy, respectively, at the eleventh hour after weeks of hesitancy. It seemed something drastic had happened to change their minds. As observers sorted through clues as to what caused the sudden shift, one key factor emerged: Vice President JD Vance.

Young hinted that Vance had helped him through “extensive conversations” about confirming Gabbard to the director of national intelligence post. Cassidy thanked the vice president for his “honest counsel” as he mulled whether to support Kennedy for Health and Human Services secretary.

But sources familiar with the situation told the Daily Caller that getting Young and Cassidy’s support was actually months in the making, as Vance worked tirelessly behind the scenes whipping votes for President Donald Trump’s nominees.

Ahead of taking office, Trump and others on his transition team planned for Vance to play a role in helping nominees through the confirmation process because of his strong relationships in the Senate, a source familiar with the situation told the Caller.

In the months leading up to his swearing in as vice president, Vance was busy battling with legacy media hosts and casting votes against Biden’s judicial nominations. But he also spent his time making sure his Senate colleagues were warming up to his boss’s cabinet nominations.

Vance’s work began well before Inauguration Day, including several conversations with Senator Young regarding the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard, sources familiar with the situation told the Caller. It was in the days before the confirmation vote that the vice president’s work intensified, one source added.

For some holding out on supporting Gabbard until the very end of the process, including Republican Maine Sen. Susan Collins, there were concerns about Gabbard’s stances on National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden and Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Act, which she previously opposed.

Vance was able to patiently work through these issues with his former colleagues, Young suggested.

“He was respectful, he listened a lot more than he talked, and he, frankly, he seemed to be effective on his end in getting from me the sort of concessions that were required to get to a yes,” Young told reporters. The senator’s vote was the final ‘yes’ needed for the administration to have confidence in Gabbard’s nomination.

“So that’s it. I mean, he came through. He delivered for me, and I’m grateful for that,” Young added about the concessions Vance was able to secure for him.

A source familiar with the situation contested that Sen. Young got any “concessions” from Gabbard, pointing to the letter he posted on Twitter and arguing that everything she had written in the letter, Gabbard had already spoken about.

During the confirmation process, the source added that Vance was helpful in persuading Senators who were on the fence about Gabbard. The source was confident that the vice president was key in getting Young the letter from Gabbard, which ultimately helped move his vote to a yes.

Young also provided a window into Trump’s apparent thinking when he tasked Vance with seeing his cabinet nominees through confirmation.

“I think he’s been tasked with this role because of his pre-existing relationship with us,” Young told reporters.

Vance has a pull that everyone on the Hill appears to be noticing, and it’s not limited to cabinet picks.

“Whether you’re there two years or 12 years, there is connective tissue — like, I sat in your chair,” one senior Republican aide previously told Politico of the weight Vance carries with the Republican caucus in the Senate.

Though Cassidy, who was key in helping Kennedy get confirmed, said the concessions he received were from the “administration,” the senator admitted that he had spoken to Vance honestly about the nomination. The two especially discussed RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine views. Cassidy’s office referred the Caller to his tweet and floor speech on the matter in which he said the administration sought to reassure him “regarding their commitment to protecting the public health benefit of vaccination.”

In his floor speech ahead of Kennedy’s vote, Cassidy added that Kennedy, alongside the administration, pledged to maintain a key federal advisory board and to allow the Senator input on hiring decisions for the Department of Health and Human Services. This week, the first meeting of the CDC’s vaccine advisory committee was postponed after Kennedy took office.

“All I know is that Vance definitely made the difference. Don’t know specifics about the conversations. But after his visits, Bobby had the votes,” an RFK Jr. ally told the Caller, adding that the cabinet secretary also spent a lot of time in talks with Cassidy to help secure his vote.

Kash Patel, confirmed as FBI Director on Thursday by a 51-49 vote, with Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voting against, at first was the target of the bulk of Democrat complaints. As the minority party shifted their ire to Gabbard and Kennedy, Patel’s confirmation process started to fly under the radar. As such, Vance’s hand in getting Patel in as FBI director has gone relatively unnoticed.

After Patel’s nomination, one former government official told CBS News that he was ‘by far the most dangerous pick.” Slate decried Patel’s “enemies list.” NBC News wrote that he previously helped host a show for “a conspiracy-filled, far-right media organization,” referring to the Epoch Times.

But the complaints quickly subsided as Patel took to Capitol Hill to meet with Senators.

One source previously told the Caller that Patel’s path to an easy confirmation can in part be attributed to his commitment to advancing the MAGA agenda and how that drove him to continue cultivating relationships with senate Republicans, even while Trump was out of office. That work led to Patel garnering early support from Republicans without facing any publicly voiced opposition. Additional lobbying from Vance was not as necessary as other Trump picks, a source familiar with the situation told the Caller.

Still, Vance did play a role in helping Patel get nominated in the first place. The vice president, a source familiar with the situation said, helped lay the groundwork among Senate colleagues ahead of Inauguration Day to get them comfortable with Patel’s eventual nomination.

“Our members trust him, which is really important,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously told reporters about Vance.

‘Completely Unhinged’: Victor Davis Hanson Says Dems’ Fury Against Trump Nominees During Hearings Is Political Misstep

Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson explained on Friday how Democratic senators’ attacks on President Donald Trump’s nominees during confirmation hearings are backfiring politically because of conservatives’ current ability to push their messages more effectively online.

Many Democratic senators have taken adversarial approaches to Trump’s cabinet nominees, including screaming at them, interrupting them and hurling accusations against them. Hanson, on “Victor Davis Hanson Show,” said that Trump’s nominees have all excelled at their hearings as they have come under fire from Democrats.

WATCH:

“The funny thing about all these nominees that some of the RINOs [Republicans in name only] in the party deprecated: Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, man when they go before those people— Sean Duffy — they have all of the answers,” Hanson said. “They’re really impressive people and they go head-to-head. It’s kind of they have a wink and a nod, and I think their logic, I’m just suggesting this, I don’t have any confirmation, but their attitude — they go in very confident.”

“So, their attitude is basically, ‘I have 53 senator votes and you have none to stop me. You can’t stop me. Now you think you’re going to get [Republican senators Lisa] Murkowski and [Susan] Collins and maybe Mitch [McConnel]? I can still get confirmed,’” he continued. “‘So, I’m not going to kiss up to you in any way possible. In fact, the only thing I worry about is not getting 50 senators. And the only way I would not get 50 senators is to sell out Donald Trump, and I’m not going to do that. I’m not stupid, and I don’t want to anyway.’ And that gives them a lot of confidence.”

McConnell, Murkowski and Collins all voted against Hegseth’s confirmation to be secretary of defense, but Vice President J.D. Vance broke the tie to confirm him on Jan. 24. His confirmation followed a hearing that included Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine accusing him of infidelity and Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand lecturing him for eight minutes about women serving in the military.

“And then you get these people frustrated, like [Democratic Massachusetts Sen.] Elizabeth Warren. She’s come off as completely unhinged. And then they don’t understand the media that the left — polling right now — 37% — and I guess it was the latest Emerson poll, 37% said they approve of the Democratic Party,” Hanson added. “Do they understand how they drive that down when somebody like Elizabeth Warren just cuts off [Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.] RFK, won’t let him answer a question, screams and yells.”

Hanson referenced how Warren pressed Kennedy to “commit” to not accepting compensation for any lawsuits against drug companies during his potential tenure at HHS and for four years after, which prompted a heated exchange. He asserted that immediately after the clash, “the right-wing blogosphere” noted that Warren and Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders were the two senators who raised the most money in pharmaceutical contributions.

Senators on both sides of the aisle who critically questioned Kennedy at his Wednesday and Thursday hearings found their contributions from the healthcare industry and their personal investments in the pharmaceutical industry and companies that make highly processed food being highlighted on X, receiving millions of views.

The Democratic Party’s approval rating plunged to 31% among registered voters, according to Quinnipiac polling released Wednesday.

Sanders exploded at Kennedy during his Thursday confirmation hearing after the nominee accused him of corruption for accepting pharmaceutical industry donations. Hanson suggested Warren and Sanders are examples of “hypocrites that are defending big pharma against RFK,” saying “that doesn’t work” because of conservatives’ ability to push their agenda in part because of how billionaire Elon Musk has run social media platform X.

Hanson also said Democrats wrongly assumed attorney general nominee Pam Bondi was “just a blonde bimbo” and that they could “tear her apart.” He said that she instead “t[ore] them apart.” He similarly said they underestimated Hegseth.

“And then they see Pete Hegseth. And they go, ‘This guy is weird. He’s got the Jerusalem cross, you know, and he’s been married three times. And we’re just going to slice him up because I’m Senator Sanders and I’m Senator [Chuck] Schumer, I’m Senator Warren, I’m Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.’ And then he just destroys them,” Hanson said.

He also said Kennedy “destroyed” the Democratic senators while FBI Director nominee Kash Patel dealt with them “like carving a Christmas turkey.”

DOJ Inspector General’s Findings Reportedly Show FBI Surveilled Trump Nominee Kash Patel

A Department of Justice (DOJ) watchdog revealed Tuesday the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spied on President-elect Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, according to reports.

The DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) published a report on the DOJ seeking records through a “compulsory process” of members of Congress, the news media and congressional staffers, according to a press release.

While the report does not name the individuals whose records were surveilled, sources familiar told the New York Post and CNN that Kash Patel was among the individuals spied on.

The Daily Caller reached out to Patel’s spokeswoman, who has not yet responded, but who told the Post the OIG report “highlights exactly why Kash Patel is the perfect leader to reform and rebuild the FBI.”

At the time, Patel was a staffer on the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee, according to CNN. The outlet noted that sources familiar with the matter told CNN that Patel, in addition to Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, were targeted.

Patel sued Trump’s former key DOJ and FBI appointees in 2023, including then-FBI Director Christopher Wray, who resigned Wednesday. Patel filed a lawsuit over the FBI’s attempt to acquire a subpoena in 2017 for data from his personal email account.

Patel was the lead investigator on the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into how the DOJ and FBI handled the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. The FBI’s Operation Crossfire Hurricane relied on the debunked Steele Dossier to get a warrant for a wiretap on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

The DOJ also sought records from reporters at CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post, according to the OIG’s report.

In 2017, those outlets published articles that included classified information, the report said.

Multiple outlets reported in 2021 that in 2020, the DOJ tried to identify the sources who leaked the information by issuing compulsory process to acquire “non-content communications records” of CNN, The New York Times and Washington Post reporters, according to the OIG.

The FBI declined to comment to the Caller. The DOJ also declined to comment but pointed the Caller to its response in Appendix One of the report.

“As the Report sets out, the OIG found no indication in its review that the investigative steps of the career prosecutors in any of these cases were pursued for improper reasons or based on party affiliation or status,” the DOJ stated.

The DOJ also said it addressed two of the OIG’s recommendations and was evaluating the third.

While the report did acknowledge that it found no “evidence of retaliatory or political motivation” by the prosecutors involved in the compulsory process for the records the OIG reviewed, it added that the surveillance created “at a minimum, the appearance of inappropriate interference by the executive branch.”

The DOJ sought “non-content communications records” from individuals on both sides of the aisle from between September 2017 and March 2018 using the compulsory process, according to the report.

This included 21 Democratic congressional staffers, 20 Republican staffers, two nonpartisan staffers and two members of Congress, the OIG report detailed.

“[T]he decision to issue most of the compulsory process for their records was based on the close proximity in time between that access and the subsequent publication of the news articles,” the report stated.

“As a result, dozens of congressional staffers became part of the subject pool in a federal criminal investigation for doing nothing more than performing constitutionally authorized oversight of the executive branch.”

Andrew McCabe was acting director of the FBI from May to August 2017. He was fired as deputy director in 2018 after an inspector general’s report accused him of lying about media leaks. However, he settled a lawsuit with the DOJ and regained his full pension.

Kash Patel has previously stated that he would “shut down the Hoover FBI Building on day one and reopen it as a Deep State Museum.”
