Vance Takes Center Stage In White House Push To Protect GOP Majority

Vice President JD Vance flew to Bangor, Maine, on May 14 for what was billed as an Anti-Fraud Task Force rally, but the trip quickly revealed its true purpose.

Vance shouted out former GOP Gov. Paul LePage, who is mounting a congressional bid, and extended an olive branch to Republican Sen. Susan Collins, a frequent thorn in the administration’s side who faces reelection in 2026. As rallygoers waved “Protecting Taxpayer Dollars” signs, Vance made his closing argument: keep the Trump administration in power so the fraud-fighting can continue.

Maine was just the latest example of a pattern that has defined his vice presidency.

In the last five months, Vance has traveled to eight states for 11 campaign-type events. This excludes a trip like Maine, where the vice president was there technically on official business. Since taking over as finance chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Vance has headlined 25 fundraisers, an RNC official told the Daily Caller.

Outside of the president, Vance owns 2026. He’s the GOP’s top surrogate, its best closer and most valuable weapon on the trail.

“He has a star power that, outside of the president, is unmatched,” RNC Chairman Joe Gruters told the Caller. “People love him, they love what he has to say. He’s a very good campaigner, a very good speaker and motivator. He just has the ability to move people.”

The White House political team has mapped out competitive districts and is deploying Vance accordingly, an official told the Caller. His team has been coordinating with the White House for months, and Vance has made clear he’ll go wherever he’s needed.

Those stops are expected to multiply as Labor Day approaches, though his travel will pause briefly when Usha Vance gives birth to their fourth child in the coming weeks.

“There’s a realization that he’s a younger face who articulates domestic issues in a way that resonates and complements the president’s style,” one source close to the administration told the Caller.

Vance isn’t alone on the trail. Cabinet officials have fanned out across the same battleground states, often far more frequently than the VP himself.

In Georgia, where former Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s seat is up for grabs, Vance has visited once; Cabinet officials have made 14 trips since January.

In North Carolina, where former RNC Chairman Michael Whatley is running for Senate, Vance has stopped once to the Cabinet’s 11. In Vance’s home state of Ohio, where Vivek Ramaswamy is running for governor, and a tight Senate race between former Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican Sen. Jon Husted is taking shape, Cabinet officials have shown up 19 times to his two. The pattern holds across Iowa (8-1), Wisconsin (11-1), and Michigan (15-1).

The numbers reflect a deliberate division of labor. The White House political team told Vance they needed him to make a push for Rep. Zach Nunn in Iowa, a source close to the political operation told the Caller, and the VP agreed. He goes where the ask is sharpest.

New York illustrates the scale: Cabinet officials have visited 27 times, Vance twice. In Texas, where Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton faces Democrat state Sen. James Talarico, Cabinet has been there 49 times, the president once, Vance twice.

And joining the Cabinet officials and the VP on the campaign trail will be Trump, who will be making some stops as Labor Day approaches, a White House official told the Caller.

On the fundraising side, Vance has been just as formidable. He has helped raise more than $60 million for the RNC since taking over as finance chair, according to The New York Times. The RNC ended May with $125.5 million cash on hand, raising $14.8 million in the month alone.

Gruters credits Vance’s personal touch.

“People that we’ve had come to some of our events have told me that they’ve been some of the best political events they’ve ever had, the best opportunity they’ve ever had to spend quality time with the VP,” he told the Caller. “It’s really opened up the opportunity for us to break out and raise these record-setting amounts.”

None of this can happen, however, without whispers of 2028. Trump loves to poll those around him on the question of his successor: Vance or Rubio. Every trail stop the VP makes adds more to the conversation.

Sources close to Vance insist the midterm push is not a calculated audition, and the VP has gone out of his way to signal as much. Earlier this year, he turned down political trips to Iowa specifically because he didn’t want them perceived as 2028 groundwork.

For Vance’s part, he has repeatedly said he is not thinking about 2028, but the job ahead.

“I have no doubt that the president of the United States is going to be very supportive of anything that I ultimately decide to do,” Vance told CBS News. “But we really just haven’t talked about what that thing will be.”

He added that he is not “sitting around figuring out whether I’m going to run for president.

But the overlap is hard to ignore.

“It also serves the heir apparent well to hit hotly contested areas of the country ahead of his own run,” one source close to the administration told the Caller. “In many ways, it’s a win-win.”

The House Oversight Committee’s subpanel on government efficiency held a hearing Tuesday exposing billions of taxpayer dollars wasted annually on outdated federal buildings.

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who leads the Subcommittee on Delivering Government Efficiency (DOGE), opened the hearing by slamming federal agencies for maintaining a bloated real estate footprint. She pledged to continue pushing to “right-size” the federal government’s real estate portfolio.

“Here in D.C., [the Government Accountability Office] found in 2023 that the vast majority of federal agency headquarters buildings were less than 25% occupied — some much less,” Greene said. “Meanwhile, from 2022 to 2024, the backlog of deferred maintenance on the aging buildings the government owns grew from $216 billion to $370 billion. That’s more than one-third of a trillion dollars it will cost to restore them — if we don’t sell them.”

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has flagged federal property management as a “high-risk” area since 2003. Yet despite two decades of warnings, the Biden administration allowed billions to be spent not only to maintain vacant offices but also on lavish furniture purchases, according to the subcommittee’s review.

Greene highlighted early Trump administration moves, including canceling nearly 700 federal leases totaling 7.9 million square feet of space — moves she said saved taxpayers around $400 million. One such canceled lease was a 15-year, quarter-billion-dollar agreement for luxury office space on Pennsylvania Avenue, signed by the Biden administration to house Voice of America and the U.S. Agency for Global Media. The building, Greene said, had zero broadcasting capabilities, and taxpayers would have been on the hook for another $130 million in renovations.

John Hart, CEO of the watchdog group OpenTheBooks, framed the issue in visceral terms.

“Today’s expansive, excessive and sometimes opulent federal real estate portfolio is both a monument to the administrative state and a mausoleum of lost dreams, opportunity and freedom for American taxpayers,” Hart said in his opening statement. “Do federal employees need seven figures worth of abstract modern art to make the government run?”

Hart testified that agencies spent $4.6 billion on furniture since FY 2021, including $284,000 on FEMA conference rooms and nearly $120,000 on leather recliners for the U.S. embassy in Islamabad. Hart also cited the $238,000 the CDC spent on solar-powered picnic tables which, by the agency’s own social distancing rules, “should have sat unoccupied,” he said.

David Marroni of the GAO echoed the concern over dysfunction and inertia inside the federal property apparatus.

“The pandemic shined a spotlight on these long-standing problems,” Marroni told lawmakers. “The federal government has held on to too much space and has been too slow in shedding underused properties … Progress has been slow. Agencies were in a wait-and-see mode for too long.”

Marroni said that, for the first time, agencies are being forced to begin tracking actual building utilization data starting this summer.

Democrats on the panel said the Trump administration’s rapid disposal plan was ideologically driven and economically reckless.

“I think it’s very clear that part of the agenda here is really about dismantling the administrative state and using real assets of the federal government to do that,” Democratic New Mexico Rep. Melanie Stansbury, the ranking member of the subcommittee, said in the hearing. “The point here is that things are not always as they appear in Washington, D.C., and I think it’s very clear that this is not about the federal taxpayers and the American people. This is about disposing of federal property and a fire sale to make the wealthy more wealthy. Thanks.”

Republicans fired back. Texas Rep. Pat Fallon cited GAO findings that 17 of the 24 largest federal agencies used less than 25% of their office capacity. Republican South Carolina Rep. William Timmons said the goal was to offload waste and inject new life into dead office space. They cited reforms under the Federal Property Management Act and the Federal Assets Sale and Transfer Act of 2016 as a roadmap for future consolidation.

“I guarantee you that a developer — a big bad developer — is going to come in,” Timmons said. “They’ll build this massive building, put housing in it and pay taxes. That’s the highest and best use.”

Greene said the DOGE subcommittee intends to introduce legislation aimed at streamlining the disposal process for surplus federal property and imposing stricter accountability measures for future real estate acquisitions. She also said the subcommittee would work closely with the White House and the GAO to accelerate selloffs and lease terminations.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Reveals Plan To Oust Speaker Mike Johnson

Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on Wednesday that she will call for a vote to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson next week.

Greene initially filed a motion to vacate in late March over disagreements with Johnson’s latest appropriations plan. The Georgia Republican detailed her plan to advance her efforts to remove Johnson during a press conference following the House’s passage of Ukraine aid.

“I think every member of Congress needs to take that vote and let the chips fall where they may. And so next week, I am going to be calling this motion to vacate,” Green said. “We are not going to have a House majority if we keep Mike Johnson.” 

Johnson released a statement following Greene’s announcement, arguing that “this motion is wrong for the Republican Conference, wrong for the institution, and wrong for the country.”

Politico reported Wednesday that Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley had attempted to dissuade Greene from going through with the vote.

“He said, one, this is not helpful, and two, we want to expand and grow the majority in the House,” said a person familiar with Whatley’s message to Greene, per Politico. “He was clear that any disruption to the conference on these efforts — including filing this [motion to vacate], does not help the case for party unity.”

House Democratic leadership announced on Tuesday they’d help save Johnson if Greene moved forward with her motion to vacate after he helped advance the national security supplemental.

“At this moment, upon completion of our national security work, the time has come to turn the page on this chapter of Pro-Putin Republican obstruction,” the Democrats said. “We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed.”

Rep. MTG Files Motion To Remove Mike Johnson As Speaker Of The House

Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a motion Friday morning for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to vacate the chair.

Greene called on Johnson to not bring the $1.2 trillion spending bill to the floor for a vote, calling it “a Chuck Schumer, Democrat-controlled bill coming from the ‘Republican-controlled’ House.” She would have to be recognized to try to vacate the speakership, and the House would have to take action within two legislative days. Having not noticed the privilege, the motion cannot be considered until after the recess.

“Speaker Johnson always listens to the concerns of members, but is focused on governing. He will continue to push conservative legislation that secures our border, strengthens our national defense and demonstrates how we’ll grow our majority,” Johnson’s spokesperson Raj Shah said in a statement.

The House ended up on Friday passing the $1.2 trillion consolidated spending bill, which included millions of dollars in earmarks, to fund the remainder of the U.S. government for the 2024 fiscal year. The bill passed with 286 yeas to 134 nays, meeting the two-thirds majority requirement to suspend the rules and pass expeditiously.

Devon Archer told House Oversight Joe and Hunter Biden spoke ‘more than 20 times’ about business, rep says

President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden spoke “more than 20 times about their business deals,” Hunter Biden’s former business associate Devon Archer said Monday before the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told the Daily Caller.

“The biggest significant thing that has come out so far is that we now have proof that Joe Biden lied. He’s been telling everyone for years now that he knows nothing about Hunter Biden’s business deals, that he’s never talked to his son about it. Well, this morning Devon Archer confirmed for all of us that that is not true,” Greene said in an interview with the Caller.

“He told us in his transcribed interview that he heard Hunter Biden speak to Joe Biden more than 20 times about their business deals. Not about anything else, but about the business deals,” the House Oversight member added.

The president famously said in 2019 that he had never spoken to his son about business.

Archer met with the lawmakers behind closed doors on Monday and the transcripts have yet to be released. The former business associate worked with Hunter Biden at Rosemont Seneca Partners, LLC, and was subpoenaed by Republicans to testify as a part of their investigation into the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.

Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman told reporters during the testimony’s break that Archer said, “Hunter would put his father on speakerphone with whomever was at dinner and there wasn’t any indication that he had any idea who was at dinner.”

Greene rebuked Goldman’s account of the interview.

“Dan Goldman came out during the break and tried to put a big spin on it. Physically sweating while he’s talking about, ‘Oh, they talked about weather — that’s not what Devon Archer said. Devon Archer said he heard them talk more than 20 times about Hunter’s business deals,” Greene said.

Archer did say that the “Bidens were in the business of influence peddling. And while influence peddling is not necessarily a crime… it is definitely very bad when it’s influence peddling involving the vice president of the United States,” Greene added.

The White House and Goldman did not immediately respond to an inquiry from the Caller.

MTG Lays Out How Committees Are Working Together On Biden Family Investigation

Three House committees are coordinating to investigate the Biden family’s alleged corruption, Republican Georgia Rep. and House Oversight Committee member Marjorie Taylor Greene told the Daily Caller.

The staffs of the Oversight Committee, Ways and Means Committee and Judiciary Committee are “talking” about the evidence on the Biden family, and beginning to “draw lines and connect our investigations,” Greene said.

Oversight has produced a report claiming that members of the Biden family received $10 million from foreign sources through a chain of LLCs while Joe Biden was vice president. The committee’s members also obtained access to a FD-1023 FBI informant report alleging that the president was directly involved in a “pay-to-play” scheme with a foreign national.

The Ways and Means Committee has released IRS whistleblower testimony accusing the Department of Justice (DOJ) of interfering in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes. The whistleblower also gave the committee a document that included transcript of an alleged text message in which Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese business associate by saying his father was in the room.

At the same time, the House Judiciary Committee is investigating how the FBI may have “impeded” investigations into the president’s son.

“What you’re seeing right now, is we’ve got three different committees investigating everything around Joe Biden … We can basically draw lines and connect our investigations at this point,” Greene told the Caller. “For example, with the IRS whistleblowers, bringing out all the information that Hunter Biden didn’t pay taxes on $2.2 million worth of revenue that came in from foreign countries and foreign nationals — that aligns with our work on Oversight because we produced through subpoenas — bank statements that show wire transfers to him from China, Romania, Ukraine into these fake LLCs — and then the payments get made to all these Biden family members. So we’re going to cross-reference those.”

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, Oversight Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan issued a statement Wednesday about their coordination efforts.

“Our committees are pursuing a thorough investigation into this misconduct to deliver the transparency and accountability that the American people demand and deserve,” the congressmen said.

The committees are specifically looking into the alleged 2017 WhatsApp message and its connection to a possible influence peddling scheme.

The timing of the WhatsApp message “cross-references some of those wire transfers from China. So there’s beginning to be some very serious overlap that is putting Joe Biden and Hunter Biden and probably more family members in the cross hairs of prosecution,” Greene said.

Oversight’s investigation is ongoing and the committee hopes to publish a report with information on Hunter Biden’s involvement with foreign prostitutes, Greene previously told the Caller.

The president has dismissed allegations about him as “malarkey,” and the White House Counsel’s office has maintained that the president “was not in business” with his son. Biden yelled “No!” on Wednesday in response to a reporter asking whether he was sitting next to Hunter Biden when he allegedly sent the message.

In addition, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has criticized Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell over a deal which paved the way for Congress to raise the debt ceiling.

“The House of Representatives is voting after midnight tonight because @LeaderMcConnell allowed Democrats to bi-pass the filibuster and ram through the debt ceiling increase to $31.5 TRILLION,” she tweeted. “Mitch is Biden’s b*tch.”

As of Wednesday morning, her tweet had been liked more than 11,000 times and retweeted nearly 4,000 times.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called out the “communists” in charge of House and the January 6th committee:

“We’ve heard a lot about text messages. I’d like the Democrats and the people on the January 6th committee to produce their text messages, Mr. Speaker, denouncing Antifa, BLM riots that raged across American cities for a year. I would love to read those.

But instead we saw Democrats encourage, incite, and continue to call these riots peaceful. And then when they got arrested and put in jail, they bailed them out so they could go out and riot some more.

I rise in opposition to this resolution to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress because it’s being held by nothing but a kangaroo court. Congress’ job is to make laws, not enforce them. That’s the role of the Executive and the Judicial Branch of this government.

But somehow the communists here in charge have forgotten – or no, not forgotten, are purposefully abusing the Constitution and what this body of Congress is supposed to do.

You see when we go to this level, to the point where we’re forgetting and abusing what our power is, then the American people will trust us no more. And that is exactly what the January 6th committee is doing.”

I love how MTG isn’t afraid to speak her mind and I’m more than certain the left will be outraged that she called them communists on the House floor. But if water is truly wet, you can bet Kevin McCarthy will join the chorus condemning MTG for calling Pelosi and her henchmen ‘communists’.
