The Mob Goes After Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln’s statues dot the landscape for a reason that is well-understood: He is a symbol of wisdom, decency, sacrifice, and perseverance in defeating slavery and liberating millions of black Americans.

Antifa rioters knocked down his statue in Portland during a self-proclaimed “Day of Rage” on the eve of Columbus Day.

They also trashed the Oregon Historical Society, which preserves treasures of the past so that people of succeeding generations may understand their culture and history.

Citizen journalist Andy Ngo quoted one rioter as the mob pulled down a statue of Theodore Roosevelt: “F— all you colonizers! … Everyone of you that’s against Black Lives Matter can f— the f— off.”

Such ugly and hateful scenes continue, month after month. Local officials continue to enjoy fame, power, and money without having to meet their most basic responsibility of protecting the public.

The Portland public seems indifferent to this, and even the federal government—which in the past has enforced Americans’ civil rights when local authorities refused to do so—seems like a flabby and impotent giant.

When Antifa and its radical associate Black Lives Matter began their campaign of hatred and violence months ago, the news media helped sell the movement as “mostly peaceful” and devoted to ending endemic racism in law enforcement, an object virtually all Americans could support.

But, of course, it soon became clear the movement was divorced from peace and reason. The details of altercations between police and the public that might tend to exonerate officers, or at least put their actions in context, were not promulgated. The movement advanced violence, rather than the peaceful means we have, under our rule of law, of holding police accountable.

Burning black businesses and killing black Americans, as anyone with an ounce of common sense could discern, did nothing to advance the professed cause. The movement promoted defunding the police, a means of subjecting citizens to the violence and terror of the mob.

Many good and caring people have marched for racial justice. But the movement—at its core—was not about holding police accountable.

It was about tearing down America, its freedoms, and the foundational rule of law that protects people’s civil rights. It was about assaulting America’s founding and the statues that honor those who created and sustained this country. A country that, as Lincoln put it, is the last, best hope of mankind.

George Orwell wrote about this approach in his brilliant and chilling analysis of totalitarianism, the novel “1984”:

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday morning, “The FBI and Law Enforcement must focus their energy on ANTIFA and the Radical Left, those who have spent the summer trying to burn down poorly run Democrat Cities throughout the USA!”

But he has mouthed such words for months, and the violence and destruction proceed apace, no doubt fueling outrage in many voters.

Perhaps the most unsettling thing about this year of COVID-19 and rioting is the way the Constitution and the rule of law have been laid aside, at the encouragement of many politicians and with the willing acceptance of the public.

Lincoln, a lifelong advocate of the rule of law, waged a gruesome war to preserve this nation. It makes a powerful symbolic statement of our country’s demise when his statue is facedown in the mud—and no one pays any consequences for such violent destruction.

A Note for our Readers:

Democratic Socialists say, “America should be more like socialist countries such as Sweden and Denmark.” And millions of young people believe them…

For years, “Democratic Socialists” have been growing a crop of followers that include students and young professionals. America’s future will be in their hands.

How are socialists deluding a whole generation? One of their most effective arguments is that “democratic socialism” is working in Scandinavian countries like Sweden and Norway. They claim these countries are “proof” that socialism will work for America. But they’re wrong. And it’s easy to explain why.

Our friends at The Heritage Foundation just published a new guide that provides three irrefutable facts that debunks these myths. For a limited time, they’re offering it to readers of The Daily Signal for free.

Black Democrat Lawmaker Bernadine Kennedy Kent Endorses President Trump

President Trump will obtain significant support from the Black community on November 3rd. And Trump (unlike the vile racist Joe Biden) deserves it. Black Trump supporters will have a huge role in sinking the racist Joe Biden on November 3rd. Read Rep Kent’s statement here.

Democrat Ohio Lawmaker Bernadine Kennedy Kent Endorses President Trump

By The Village Reporter, September 29, 2020

As President Donald J. Trump gears up to debate Joe Biden tonight in Cleveland, life-long Democrat and Ohio lawmaker Bernadine Kennedy Kent announced her endorsement of President Trump’s re-election. Joe Biden has spent nearly half a century in Washington and his actions have only resulted in further divisiveness and mass incarceration for Black Americans. Only President Trump has taken historic action to empower the Black community through economic opportunity and access to quality education, resulting in the lowest poverty rate for Black Americans in U.S. history.

The letter from Bernadine Kennedy Kent, Ohio State Representative (D) – District 25 reads:

“No matter what my feelings are towards the Democrat Party, one thing is crystal clear: my values truly align with President Donald J. Trump’s willingness to work with those of differing opinions and perspectives more so than with Joe Biden’s divisive rhetoric, promotion of mass incarceration, and disrespectful, insensitive ideologies that substantiates his infamous comment ‘…if you’re still deciding between me and Trump, then you ain’t Black…’ during an interview on a popular African American radio program earlier this year.

“Not only am I Black, I am a proud American and delighted to endorse President Trump for re-election.  Furthermore, I am honored to share with people my intent to vote for him and spread the word on the value of his leadership and his dedication to the American people.”

Swing Voters In Michigan Focus Group Say They Are Voting For Trump, Call Biden A ‘Puppet’: Axios Report

Former Vice President Joe Biden is not mentally fit for the presidency, and he would likely become a “puppet” for the “deep state,” several Michigan of swing voters said during an Axios focus group session released Monday.

The focus group included nine people who voted for former President Barack Obama in 2012 but voted for President Donald Trump in 2016. Seven of the nine swing voters said would vote for Trump in November’s election, Axios noted in a report Monday on the group.

The focus group, part of Axios’s monthly Engagious/Schlesinger swing-voter series, is not a scientific poll, but it does provide a snapshot into how a select number of voters in the battleground state are thinking ahead of the election, according to Axios. The session was conducted last week, Axios said.

Biden is “showing signs of dementia” and would likely become a “puppet … controlled by a lot of people in the deep state,” one member of the focus group calling himself Matt T said. He used the term “deep state” to describe “the lobbyists, the people that have influence on a lot of the politicians,” he said.

WATCH:

Another panelist echoed that position.

“I don’t think that Biden is going to be running our country. Whoever his vice president is, is going to be running the country. The vice president or whoever the puppet people are telling him what to say,” a woman calling herself Shelly D said.

Vicki S, another member of the panel of nine, said she is voting for Biden because of the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in China before spreading to the United States, where it has reportedly killed nearly 146,000 people, according to John Hopkins University’s tracking system.

“I don’t want either of them. It’s the lesser of two evils in my book,” Vicki S told the other panelists.

Biden is leading Trump by significant margins in battleground states, including in Michigan.

The former vice president opened up a 13-point lead on the incumbent in the state of Florida, according to a Quinnipiac poll published on July 23. He now leads Trump 51-38 in that state, the poll showed. Trump is behind Biden in five other battleground states the president won in 2016, and is trailing Biden by nine points in Michigan, according to July 24 Fox News poll.

Biden led the presidential race by seven points in Arizona, nine points in North Carolina, and 10 points in Pennsylvania, according to a New York Times poll conducted in late June. Trump’s poor numbers coincide with a surging pandemic and civil unrest following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in May after a police officer kneeled on his neck for nearly 9-minutes, video shows.

What Is The New Normal?

A good friend of mine recently told me he has given up on sports for the foreseeable future. This was a bit startling as I knew him to be an ardent fan of Major League Baseball, the NFL, the National Hockey League, and various college sports for many years (however, he gave up on the NBA years ago). He contends the interest in sports was beaten out of him by the news media, COVID-19, and the politicizing of sports. He is so disgusted with it, he won’t even read the sports section in the local newspaper anymore, it is that bad. Frankly, I couldn’t argue with him as there are many such changes happening all around us which is commonly referred to as the “new normal.”

To take this further, on the highways there is no cooperation or courtesy, just individualism leading to angst and hostilities on the road. Instead of paying attention to the road, people are more concerned with texting and talking on their smart phones. Consequently, people clog the express lane (the left lane) and weave in and out of traffic or ride the bumper of the car in front of them; anything to get ahead, not wait your turn. This is the “new normal” on our roadways.

Customer Service is a fallacious concept. There is no longer any sense of keeping the customer happy in order to retain the customer’s business which may lead to additional sales. Nobody cares. It is now a matter of processing the sale as fast as possible and let the customer fight afterwards with “voice mail jail” and the Internet. In stores, we now look like hooded thugs; no smiles, no pleasantries, no nothing. The “new normal” for customer service is “Look out for number 1” (the company), leaving the customer to avoid stepping in number 2.

News is depressing. Many have stopped watching it on television or reading it through official news sources. Not only is a lot of it repetitive, it is predictable as to how it will be interpreted (spun). Consequently, it has lost its integrity and legitimacy. The fact we no longer trust the news is another “new normal” by which we live by.

In our urban areas, gun violence is on the rise as is thuggish behavior, arson and looting. In the nation’s capitol, the rhetoric in Congress is much more visceral and gridlock is commonplace. This too is the “new normal.”

Basic courtesy is from a bygone era, such as holding a door open for someone, saying please and thank you, extending a helping hand and basic charity; all are rapidly fading into the past as evidenced by a dwindling number of places of worship and nonprofit charities. This will only grow worse as schools are closing in observance of CORONA-19 and the politics of teachers unions. Without schools, children will grow more dependent on technology and their socialization skills will further deteriorate. This too is part of the “new normal.”

The CORONA-19 virus is causing people to become somewhat introverted. They hide in houses and avoid human contact of any kind. In addition, companies are no longer allowed to conduct business as usual. Not only does this hurt sales but it also hinders teamwork as people are now asked to work from home. All of this, of course, affects our socialization skills.

In addition to CORONA-19, the cause of the “new normal” is actually based on a combination of several things, such as declining moral values, an irresponsible media, politics (e.g., “The Summer of Hate”), and a reliance on technology to do the thinking for us. Unfortunately, it showcases the negative side of the human spirit, such as hate, jealousy, spite, greed, and a disregard for cooperation, courtesy and respect.

The “new normal” is “abnormal” to those of us who remember the go-go years of the 20th century. In fact, it is rather depressing. Interestingly, cases of anxiety and depression have been steadily increasing prior to 2020, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it spike in this election year.

The “new normal” is not about something as banal as tattoos, body piercings, orange hair, or vernacular. It is about our ability to socialize effectively, something that is radically declining as we are asked to choose sides in political ideology. It is a callous attitude regarding our fellow human-beings, and an egocentric view of our perceived individual importance. No, the “new normal” does not include cooperation, sacrifice, teamwork, or friendliness, but rather it involves confrontation, combativeness, ridicule, selfishness, and a sense of entitlement.

So, where did this come from? Look no further than the Baby Boomers who failed at raising their children responsibly, along with the media and far-Left who have been trying to change our moral values for years.

I would like to believe our attitudes will change following the November 3rd election, that we will somehow snap out of it, but I know this simply will not happen. Everything is drifting on the wind. Our choice is rather simple; we either accept the “new normal” and allow the country to chart a new course or reject it by saying, “Enough is enough!,” and take on the task of correcting it. Understand this, it is not so much what the older generation wants to do, it is ultimately up to the younger generation. All the elders can do is offer advice (and vote).

Keep the Faith!

P.S. – Also, I have a NEW book, “Before You Vote: Know How Your Government Works”, What American youth should know about government, available in Printed, PDF and eBook form. This is the perfect gift for youth!
