Crime scene tape blocks off the intersection on Pearl Street as law enforcement officials investigate after an attack on the pedestrian mall Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado.
The family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman is being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement today following his arrest in connection with the firebomb attack that injured 12 people on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall Sunday. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the family’s detention in a post to X Tuesday afternoon.
“Today the Department of Homeland Security and ICE are taking the family of suspected Boulder, Colorado terrorist, and illegal alien Soliman into ICE custody,” Noem said. “Mohamed’s despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack if they had any knowledge of it or provided any support to it.”
Federal and state authorities were continuing to investigate but had said Monday that Soliman’s wife and children were cooperative during a search of his home, and no criminal charges are pending against anyone other than Mohamed Soliman. His wife voluntarily turned in a mobile phone Soliman had left behind on Sunday, containing messages for his family. Soliman told police his family was not involved in his actions.
Soliman faces multiple counts of attempted murder and assault, and a federal hate crime count, with more charges likely to follow. He is being held in the Boulder County Jail in lieu of a $10 million bond.

An 88-year-old Holocaust survivor who is described by her rabbi as “a very lovely woman” came face-to-face with a man wielding a “makeshift flamethrower” this weekend.
Forty-five-year-old Egyptian national Mohamed Sabry Soliman allegedly shouted “free Palestine” as he torched her and seven other attendees of a weekly “Run for their Lives”event in Boulder. The event is aimed at raising awareness for Israeli hostages of Hamas.
Luckily, she and the other victims appear to be on their way to recovering.
The man came to the US in 2022 on a non-immigrant visa, which he then overstayed when it expired in 2023, according to reports. Soliman did what many illegals do in such a case, nestled himself up with the libs and their “sanctuaries.”
Exactly a month earlier, Colorado liberals in the statehouse voted unanimously to bar their law enforcement from communicating with federal immigration officials. Further, any Colorado official who does aid ICE in apprehending illegal aliens could be subject to a $50,000 fine, which would go to Colorado’s “Immigrant Defense Fund.”
Democrats who supported the bill used the same phrase we’ve seen hundreds of times in the first half of this year: A “right” to “due process.”
What about the rights of the victims?
Is the Democrat electoral strategy of importing and defending illegal immigrants worth sacrificing the rights, the safety and prosperity even, of people like the 88-year-old refugee who found herself in the sights of a snarling maniac this weekend?
Imagine surviving an evil empire hellbent on industrializing the slaughter of your entire family, then an apocalyptic world war, then immigrating to a new country on the other side of the earth, only to be torched by a terrorist sympathizer in a state that sympathizes with the “rights” of terrorists first and foremost?
I’m sure we’ll hear more about these two immigrants. I’d be shocked if there weren’t warning signs with Soliman. There always are.
Until then, Soliman will be up to his ears in well deserved “due process.”

The incident comes roughly 10 days after a 31-year-old man was arrested for shooting and killing two Israeli diplomats outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
On Sunday in Boulder, Colorado, a man identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, attacked a crowd at a memorial for Israeli hostages by throwing incendiary devices while shouting “Free Palestine.” He used a makeshift flamethrower, injuring six people aged 67 to 88, some seriously. Eyewitnesses described chaos, with victims suffering burns and bystanders scrambling to help. The event, organized by the group ‘Run For Their Lives’ to call for hostage releases in Gaza, was disrupted as Soliman also yelled slogans like “End Zionists” and “They are killers.” Authorities evacuated nearby blocks and deployed K-9 units during the response. The FBI and local law enforcement are investigating, with no charges announced yet, though officials pledged full accountability. Colorado Governor Jared Polis condemned the act, calling it unacceptable hate-fueled violence. The incident comes amid a broader surge in antisemitic attacks in the U.S., including a recent fatal shooting of Israeli embassy staff.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman is a 45-year-old Egyptian national, he remains in the United States illegally after overstaying his visa. He landed in U.S. on August 27, 2022 with a non-immigrant visa and was allowed to stay until February 2, 2023, but allegedly never left. The eyewitnesses have claimed that Soliman was yelling ‘Free Palestine’ while attacking the victims.
An anonymous Denver man on X, formerly Twitter, posted what appear to be videos from the scene that show a shirtless man in sunglasses holding two carafes of liquid yelling at participants at the event while at least one woman is collapsed on the ground nearby.
The user said that the man was lighting people on fire with gasoline from a gardening tool and throwing Molotov cocktails while shouting, “You f— Zionists kill my people so I kill you!”
“One elderly woman was so severely burned that her hair was charred and she wasn’t moving while others cared for her,” the user, whose account is called BHflyer5, wrote. “Others were sitting/lying down in shock, some with their pants burned off, skin melted up their legs with their skin even split open and bleeding in some areas.”
Tonight, as the Holy Days of Shavuot begin, the people of this nation should remember how the law given on Mount Sinai has been disregarded for years. The criminal laws protecting American Jews have likewise been unenforced for years.

A man attacked and burned six people with Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower during a rally in Boulder, Colorado, calling for the release of hostages in Gaza in what the FBI called “a targeted terror attack.”
A crowd associated with Run for Their Lives, a weekly vigil calling for the release of captives still held by Hamas, was gathered near the courthouse in downtown Boulder around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when police began receiving reports that “there was a man with a weapon and people were being set on fire,” Boulder Police Chief Steven Redfearn said during an evening press conference.
“When we arrived, we encountered multiple victims injured with injuries consistent with burns,” Redfearn said. He added that at least one of the injuries may be life-threatening. The victims ranged in age from 67 to 88, according to Mark Michalek, director of the FBI’s Denver field office.
Michalek said at a press briefing Sunday night that police had arrested Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, who was pointed out to law enforcement officers by witnesses.
Brandon Rattiner, director of the Jewish Community Relations Council in Denver, said that the reaction among local Jews was “sadness and disappointment.”
But he said it was not entirely shocking. Boulder has been a hot spot of protests against Israel, some of which have taken an alarmingly aggressive posture. Rattiner said he attended a previous Run for Their Lives event in Boulder, which usually draw 10 to 20 people, where a protester heckled the crowd with a sign that said “Arm Hamas.”
“It’s not surprising that Boulder would be the community where this sort of thing takes place,” he said in a phone interview.
