‘Common Sense’: GOP Lawmakers Override Governor’s Veto Of Anti-Sanctuary Bill In Swing State

North Carolina lawmakers overwhelmingly voted for legislation that will require law enforcement across the state to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

The GOP-dominated state legislature on Wednesday completed its override of Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto against HB 10, a bill that effectively bans sanctuary city policies across the state. The new law requires sheriffs to honor Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers on non-citizens that have been arrested for serious crimes and are suspected of living in the country unlawfully.

“The bill itself is purely common sense,” Senate leader Phil Berger said after the upper chamber voted for the override in a 30-19 vote, according to ABC11. “I question why anyone in law enforcement — these elected sheriffs — would deny a community the safety that is allowed by taking the process in this way.”

The bill specifically mandates law enforcement to hold onto a non-citizen who is subject to an ICE detainer for 48 hours, according to the text of the legislation. It will officially go into effect on Dec. 1.

The wide-ranging legislation also pertains to school vouchers, something that Cooper largely focused on when his office published his veto message in September. However, the Democrat governor has also been opposed to anti-sanctuary legislation in the past, and he reiterated this opposition when asked about his veto of HB 10.

“I’ve vetoed the sheriff’s [portion of the bill] a number of times. Obviously, I’m still opposed to that,” Cooper said during a press conference about the veto, according to ABC11.

While there are some localities in the state that do not honor ICE detainer requests, such as in Wake and Mecklenburg Counties, law enforcement officials appear largely supportive of the bill. The North Carolina Sheriff’s Association came out in support of the legislation earlier this year.

Other GOP lawmakers pointed out that the new law will not affect non-citizens who have been stopped by police for minor offenses.

“This would not impact folks who are stopped for minor traffic offenses, this is not something those people would be facing deportation over,” Senator Danny Britt stated days before the veto was overridden, according to Queen City News.

The Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C.,-based organization that advocates for stricter immigration enforcement laws, has labeled at least nine different counties in the state as sanctuary havens for illegal migrants, citing various policies that restrict cooperation with ICE agents. The new law will force sheriffs in these counties and across the state to adhere to ICE detainers moving forward.

‘A Devastating Impact’: Harris’s Silence On Key Biden Policy Leaves American Farmers In The Lurch

American farmers are still waiting for answers from Vice President Kamala Harris on a Biden administration policy that could have detrimental effects to their livelihood.

President Joe Biden’s administration was set to ban menthol cigarettes just before April 2024, until concerns arose that such a move could have negative political implications. The administration has since paused progress on the ban, though the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) top tobacco official has indicated that they are still planning to implement the rule. While Harris has not clarified where she stands on the issue, tobacco farmers in North Carolina, who the Daily Caller spoke to, are worried about what could happen to their farms if the vice president goes through with the ban.

“It would destroy one of North Carolina’s biggest industries and destroy thousands of American jobs and businesses. It would have a devastating impact on many hard-working families not only in North Carolina but in other states too,” Linwood Vick, a tobacco farmer in North Carolina told the Caller.

“President Biden and VP Harris have put us in limbo for years with this proposed ban, and now, as the Democratic presidential candidate, she hasn’t said a word about it. I’m frustrated by the political games, and I’m worried about our family’s business, the many people this industry employs, and what the future of North Carolina would look like if a menthol ban was put in place,” Vick continued.

Though Harris has not clarified her position on a menthol ban since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, the vice president has previously shown support for one. As California Attorney General in 2013, Harris signed onto a letter to the FDA pressing them to ban e-cigarettes. In 2018, while a U.S. senator, Harris co-signed a letter urging the FDA director to move forward with a ban on flavored tobacco products and menthol.

“A lot of farmers are worried that [a Harris] administration will try and push something like this, and if it does, if it is passed, a lot of farmers have said that they would just quit farming altogether, because tobacco is really the only thing that keeps them alive when in our area,” Archie Griffin, a third-generation tobacco farmer in North Carolina, told the Caller.

Aside from losing their jobs completely, Ray Sterling, general counsel of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, told the Caller that such a ban, or lack of clarity on one, is on farmers’ minds as they prepare for the next crop season.

“[A farmer] has to make planting decisions and reserve fertilizer and buy supplies many times in December prior to the next crop year. And so as we’re entering fall, many farmers are starting to think about what they’re going to grow next year. This could have a massive impact on demand, if nothing else, it could be disruptive. It could make everybody play wait and see,” Sterling explained.

“Farmers are no different than any other business owner. They crave reliability and certainty and  predictability. That’s missing here,” he added.

Within North Carolina, 822 tobacco farms produce $36 billion of output and add $31 billion to state GDP, according to the John Locke Foundation. Those farms employ around 5,000 workers for about $370 million.

Produce wholesale in North Carolina provides $15.3 billion in revenue, contributes $9 billion to the state GDP and keeps 4,500 people employed, the John Locke Foundation reported.

As the numbers show, and as Griffin explained to the Caller, the impact of tobacco farms in the state goes beyond the industry.

“It goes into affecting an economic impact on taxes, farmers, the tobacco industry and a manufacturing impact. Just a quick idea, it’s estimated that the menthol industry, data shows, is valued at 39 billion each year. If a menthol ban was placed on those products, those consumers aren’t going to just stop smoking altogether or stop consuming those products there,” Griffin explained.

“They’re going to switch to alternatives or start putting menthol in themselves. If they can’t get that menthol product, the consumers are going to go to illicit trade products that are either smuggled in here, and when they go to that product, the government’s looking at a loss of of revenue,” he added.

Former President Donald Trump and Harris are locked in a tight race in North Carolina. According to a Washington Post poll, 50% of the state’s voters support Trump and 48% back Harris. The poll has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points and surveyed 1,001 North Carolinians.

And with 16 electoral votes on the line in North Carolina, the farmers told the Caller that the impacts of a potential menthol ban are being considered by voters.

“I will tell you people are paying attention, and I think there’s reason for that,” Sterling told the Caller. “I could just tell you, ‘yes this is going to matter,’ but let me tell you why. Particularly in the agriculture community today, they really have their backs up against the wall for all that we’ve seen with regard to inflation, particularly of food prices. None of that increase has made its way down to the farm.”

When the administration was considering the rule in October 2023, retired law enforcement professionals and GOP strategists told the Caller that it could cost Biden big with black voters.

Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock said in 2021 that such a rule would “address health disparities experienced by communities of color, low-income populations and LGBTQ+ individuals, all of whom are far more likely to use these tobacco products.” Health experts contend that a ban is needed because menthol cigarettes disproportionately harm black Americans, and a ban could save a significant number of lives.

The Biden-Harris administration’s proposal of the rule used euphemisms to indicate it was aimed at leveling health outcomes between racial groups, noting that the rule would “reduce tobacco-related health disparities and advance health equity.”

“The black community and the Latino community, I think [the Biden-Harris campaign] runs the risk of losing votes from there because I think primarily what it is, is a similar scenario to the 1980s crime bill, and just not paying attention to what can potentially happen,” Maj. Neill Franklin, a retired law enforcement veteran of the Maryland State Police and Baltimore Police Department, told the Caller in 2023.

“These are adults, black adults, that are not happy with this policy. Why are you taking their ability away from them to use menthol cigarettes? It’s clear that this is focused upon the black community and these are adults who know the dangers of smoking, but yet, why is the government trying to be their parent?” he added.

With the race neck-and-neck, Harris has faced questions about her policy proposals and flip-flopping. On some topics, the Harris campaign is completely silent on where the vice president stands.

The Harris campaign did not respond to the Daily Caller’s inquiry on where the vice president stands on a menthol ban and if she would propose one if elected in November. The vice president did recently say that she could not think of anything that she would do differently from President Biden’s past four years.

“I think it affects the tobacco states because you’re going right at the heartland,” Rich Marianos, former Assistant Director of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, told the Caller. “You’re going at an industry that makes money for the states, especially you bring in Kentucky, you bring in Virginia, you bring in North Carolina. Tobacco farmers since the history of this country have been a big part of the fabric of community. Taking away a large percentage of that product and taking away their ability to farm that is going to have domino effects.”

Helene Death Toll Rises in NC and TN, Military Finally Given Orders to Help

“Evil beyond belief.  I just can’t get over how vile these people are!  I can’t get my mind around the situation and understand why G-d hasn’t smote them.  Calling and working toward the death of 4 billion “useless eaters” with orchestrated “disasters,” adulterating and destroying the food supply, using biological and chemical weapons, destroying life-saving energy supplies, encouraging lawlessness, engaging in nonsensical and deadly wars.” — PURPOSELY HURTING human beings made in G-d’s image.

“The Helene, East Palestine, Lahaina tragedies have brought this into such sharp relief.  They are so NOT like us and can execute their plans minus any burden of guilt. It’s beyond my understanding.” — Janet Levy Ross

North Carolina is in total chaos. Americans are stranded in the mountains. It appears as though our government has waited until people are lost and dying before they’ve ordered military help.  Ft. Bragg has medical helicopters that could have been there in 3 hours on the first day.

Civilian helicopters have been helping, but were turned back in many instances by sheriffs or FEMA.

Listen to this woman from Tennessee telling what is happening in the North Carolina mountains.  It’s only five minutes.

Click this link, it’s on X.com.  Musk allows even non-members.

Eight days into this nightmare, the US Army North is beginning to respond to the horrors in Northeast Tennessee and Northwest North Carolina.  How many are dead who may have been saved because of the despicable delayed response by our Stalinist run government?

Finally, at the request of FEMA, and in support of North Carolina and NC’s National Guard, the U.S. Army North is mobilizing active-duty Title 10 troops to assist with the Helene response and recovery.

Soldiers, equipment and resources, we don’t know just what, are being sent via the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, the 82nd Airborne Division and the 20th Engineer Brigade of the XVIII Airborne Corps.  They are headed to Asheville, NC.  They are also sending rotary wing air support and various engineering equipment for emergency route clearance.  Bet me when they see what they’re dealing with, they’ll radio back that they will need far more.

They are supposedly going to partner with FEMA, but we haven’t seen squat from FEMA, and neither has Glenn Beck who has been there.  The federal government has absolutely no right to stop neighbors from helping neighbors.

The Joint Force Land Component Commander, through USNORTHCOM, is the primary DoD organization coordinating defense support of civil authorities to assist federal partners in natural or man-made disasters.

Sorry folks, but where were they over a week ago when all hell broke loose in these mountains!

Here is Glenn Beck’s response.  It will both horrify you and make you proud of our fellow Americans.

The Devastating Reality

Last evening I spoke with our former county sheriff, Tim Hutchison.  You may know of him because almost 18 years ago, he was instrumental in capturing the four black men and one black woman who murdered the young college couple, Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom, Jr.

Sheriff Hutchison has already been to NC with a Huey packed with supplies.

Hutchison’s helicopter crew was in Katrina rescuing and saving people and animals.  He said that on day two there were 20 helicopters in Louisiana, day three there were 15 more and by day four, 200 more.  Big difference with the Helene catastrophe.  We’re over 10 days out and the rescue missions are just now getting their orders to help.

General Mike Flynn has been on this from the beginning.  He lives in Florida and has seen damage from previous hurricanes.  He was interviewed by Benny Johnson who asked the General, “Where is the American military?”  The video is 35 minutes long, but General Flynn speaks nearly the entire time and clearly lays out the horrific devastation of Helene, especially in Asheville and the North Carolina mountains.

Since I know that many of you don’t have the time to listen when this is so very important, I’ll give you some of the highlights.  If you read my previous article on Helene and the damages, the General validates some of the rumors I listed.

Mike Flynn tells us there are over 150 counties from Apalachicola, Florida all the way up to the western mountains of Appalachia, North Carolina who are in a complete disaster zone. “It is a federal emergency of epic proportions, of Biblical proportions, and the federal government has totally been absent. In NC, there are over 1,000 dead who have been confirmed to me with just the body bags that have been filled. There are insufficient numbers of body bags.”

He says there are bodies laying aside that have not been bagged and he expects that they’ll have over 2,000 dead when this is over, if not more.  Katrina was responsible for 1,392 deaths.

Mike tells us that the terrain and weather are what first must be considered in rescues, but the weather in the mountains at night is in the 30s now.  How can people survive without food, water and shelter?  And by the end of this month, nights will be below freezing.

“The federal government has done nothing.”

The Irish in Flynn rises up when he tells Benny Johnson that the money the government has is our money and he is speaking directly to Speaker Mike Johnson who as the head of the House can reallocate funds from one line item to another line item, with one simple vote, especially for disaster recovery in the United States.  The President, who doesn’t even know what storm we’re talking about, can actually send funds immediately with the stroke of a pen or orders to subordinates.  The president also has the authority to federalize and call out the National Guard with Army divisions capabilities.

There is plenty of FEMA money, but Open the Books tells us that because FEMA failed to follow correct procedures and bookkeeping, the agency has $8.3 billion in “unliquidated obligations” set aside to help victims of storms from before 2012! That’s according to a Homeland Security Office of Inspector General report titled “FEMA’s Inadequate Oversight Led to Delays in Closing Out Declared Disasters.”

This is money that FEMA has promised to spend, but it’s unclear when or if it will actually help American families. That’s a dozen years ago!

Meanwhile, the money can’t be used to help victims of Helene, previous hurricanes, or looming storms like Milton.

This is total insanity!

Flynn says we need a full division, an active division who has all the materials and facilities to help every situation in this crisis.  “NC Forestry helicopters at Hickory Airfield in NC, were sitting idle for five days, and the pilots who know that part of the country like the back of their hands, were so frustrated because they were directed, ‘Don’t do anything.’  One phone call was made to Lt. Governor Robinson, and I’m going to give him a lot of cred right now because in that phone call, he told me that nobody was answering the phones in the governor’s office of NC, nobody was answering his calls to the DHS or in the White House. So, Mark went to the airfield and under his authority, directed those helicopters to go.”

There are a number of federal organizations who should have been put under a military unit immediately.  The incompetence with FEMA and these organizations, not to mention the hierarchy in the federal government reaching to Biden and Harris, is as ineffectual and unskilled as the Secret Service at the first Trump rally in Butler, PA.

Once again, the purposeful disregard for human life is overt, not to mention the entire federal government being weaponized by former President Obama and his minions, Valerie Jarrett, John Brennan, James Clapper and Eric Holder.

Low level soldiers in Ft. Bragg are taking leave for a couple days to a week to go home to these mountains and help their people.

Mike tells Benny that there are gun shots being fired, looting going on, the people fighting back.  And there are children they are finding with ropes on their arms and legs where they were tied to trees by their parents (to save them from washing away) and their parents are now dead and the children were able to get recovered.

“There are reports of illegals, of allegations of these illegals, raping some of these children.  This is brutal, and this is a war zone, and when you have a war zone like that, you’re going to have all sorts of nefarious people and actors.  The only way for a well-done, legitimate execution of recovery operation to take place, is if the United States government commits at least a brigade sized task force with about 7 or 8,000 soldiers with all the requisite capabilities for an operation this size.”

There is money and there are people in the government who can allocate all that is needed, but they’ve been purposely silent.

The General says, “Joe Biden is not there, Joe Biden needs to be 25th Amendment ed out.  Kamala Harris, has no concept of what the military has and their ability to help.”

Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense, knows the capabilities of our military and is doing nothing.

Flynn said there are top men who do search and rescue who have helicopters and FEMA always calls them.  This time, nothing.  So, they’re up there on their own.  They’re getting fuel half price, and if we continue trying to do this by private citizens, they will need money for fuel.

Mike tells Benny, “We have people, American people, American citizens, that are at risk, that have died, that have lost every single thing that they owned.  We have the full ability in this country to take care of them right now for an immediate period of time and I’m talking about certainly for the next 90 days, maybe longer.  We can put them up like we put illegals up in hotels.  We can bring them in.  These are all things I know we’re capable of doing.

“And the military can get in there immediately and start to put people in at least tents, on a fairground and line it up like we’ve always done in places like overseas combat zones.  We get in there with Seabees and build plywood homes, we can bring in complements of trailers.  So much can be done, and our government is on its rearend doing nothing.  You know what they’re hoping?  They’re hoping it affects the outcome of the election particularly in places like Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina who are affected so much.”

Certainly, this is not the end of this horror for these states, it will be years before the ravaged areas in NC and TN can be rebuilt.

General Flynn has a list of organizations that need donations who are helping the areas devastated by Helene.  I’ll send them out as soon as I receive them.

Conclusion

Helene’s destruction from Florida to North Carolina has wreaked havoc on the lives of the people and their communities.  So many lives have been lost, and the destruction is horrendous.  There aren’t adjectives to even describe the photos of the horrific damage.  There are important businesses also in these communities, mining of materials used world over.  We’ll look at them in the next article.

Election officials now admit that voting will be a real challenge in 25 North Carolina counties devastated by Hurricane Helene

The vast majority of those most affected will be Republican and independent voters, and now a second hurricane is bearing down on conservative counties in Florida, expected to make landfall Wednesday.

Elections officials in North Carolina are now openly warning that voting in some parts of this key battleground state might be impacted due to Hurricane Helene’s devastation. And the impact, according to the numbers, is going to be strongest in overwhelmingly Republican counties where voters are likely going to struggle to get ballots mailed in on time due to their lives being upended by the hurricane.

The Epoch Times reports that during Helene, critical infrastructure in large swaths of western North Carolina and especially parts of the Appalachian Mountain areas were damaged or totally wiped out.

Without power, voting machines don’t work.

And the U.S. Postal Service may not be able to pick up or deliver mail from the hardest hit areas where mailing in a ballot might be the only option.

Walking or driving to a polling place on Election Day may also be a no go.

Karen Brinson Bell, the executive director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections, told NPR on Tuesday:

There may be polling places impacted by mudslides, there may be polling places inaccessible because of damaged roads, and there may be polling places with trees that have fallen on them.”

The Epoch Times reports that according to the North Carolina elections board website, five county boards of elections remained closed as of the end of last week. Those counties include Avery, Buncombe, Mitchell, Watauga, and Yancey. With the exception of Buncome County, home to the liberal mecca of Asheville, these are all overwhelmingly conservative Republican counties.

In Avery, Buncombe, and Watauga counties, elections staff are working or taking calls. The status of Mitchell and Yancey counties is not clear as the elections website lists them as “closed” with no other details.

The North Carolina elections website also includes a breakdown by party among registered voters in the 25 counties designated as disaster zones. Some 480,000 voters are registered as Republican and 292,000 as Democratic.

Another 500,000 are independent voters either not affiliated with either major party or members of small third-parties. This is a group that Trump was expected to do well with in this year’s election. Now, it’s not so certain.

Many would-be Trump voters may not even get registered to vote on time, thanks to the storm having upended their lives.

North Carolina’s voter registration deadline for the election is Oct. 11, or 25 days before the Nov. 5 election.

For mail-in voters, a county board of elections has to receive a completed voter registration application no later than 20 days before the general or primary election, the election board says.

North Carolina is expected to be a key swing state in the 2024 election.

The Cook Political Report has classified North Carolina as a “toss-up” in the 2024 election between Trump and Kamala Harris. Recent polls in the state have shown the two candidates are running neck-in-neck.

On Tuesday, Brinson Bell, the state election director, described the storm as causing a “daunting” level of uncertainty, with early in-person voting scheduled to start in just over two weeks on Oct. 17.

And this is just one of the swing states likely to be affected by the hurricane.

There are Republican counties in the mountainous upstate South Carolina area facing the same challenges. The same goes for rural areas of Southeast Georgia that have been devastated.

And now we have another hurricane, Hurricane Milton, bearing down on central Florida. Forecasts are calling for Milton to provide the first direct hit on the Tampa area of Florida in over 100 years, then tear a path up through central and parts of northern Florida, an area that is, again, heavily populated with Republican voters.

It’s looking more and more like Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, and the deep-state’s exploitation of these weather events by refusing to respond with adequate aid, was the October Surprise of 2024. The only question remaining is this: Will these events be the only October surprise, or just the opening salvos in a series of October surprises?

Harris Honeymoon Fizzles Out As Trump Leads In Sun Belt Battlegrounds

Former President Donald Trump has gained ground and is leading Vice President Kamala Harris in key Sun Belt states, according to a New York Times/Siena poll from Monday.

Trump gained in Arizona and is now leading Harris by five points with the two candidates polling at 50% and 45% among likely voters respectively, according to the poll. At the same time, Trump has also held onto his lead over Harris in Georgia by four points and in North Carolina by two points.

While the Republican candidate is leading, a significant portion of likely voters across all three states are independents, according to the poll. On average, 31% of likely voters in the Sun Belt consider themselves Democrats, 33% identify as Republicans and 31% say they are independents.

The top issues for Sun Belt likely voters are the economy and immigration, polling at 26% and 16% ,respectively, according to the poll. When it comes to handling these top issues, 50% of likely voters trust Trump while just 46% prefer Harris.

Under Harris’ purview, who has previously been dubbed the Border Czar, there have been over 10 million nationwide migrant encounters, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. During the Biden-Harris administration, there have been over 8 million migrant encounters on the Southern Border alone.

Inflation and economic struggles have also been a recurring theme over the last four years, with the national debt skyrocketing to $35 trillion for the first time in American history in July.

Several Biden-Harris initiatives, like the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, have hiked up the federal deficit. The American Rescue Plan, which passed in March 2021, approved $1.9 trillion in spending, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed in August 2022, authorized an additional $750 billion in spending.

While Trump is leading, both candidates are viewed unfavorably across the Sun Belt, according to the poll. On average, Trump is polling at 47% favorability and 50% unfavourability across likely voters, while Harris is polling at 46% favorability and 51% unfavourability.

In Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina, only 30%, 24% and 28% of likely voters think the country is on the right track and roughly two-thirds say the country is headed in the wrong direction, according to the poll. This trend remains the same across groups irrespective of age and gender.

Although Trump won North Carolina in 2020, President Joe Biden won both Arizona and Georgia in 2020.

The NYT/Siena poll surveyed 2,077 likely voters in Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina from Sept. 17 to Sept. 21 with a margin of error of +/- 2.5%.

Ballots in These 8 States Include Citizen-Only Voting Amendments

A measure requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections remains stuck in the Senate, but similar efforts will be  on the ballot this November in eight states.

States set to vote on whether to amend their constitutions to prevent noncitizens from voting are Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

In previous election cycles, such amendments to state constitutions passed overwhelmingly.

The House last month passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act, which would require that states obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship from someone before he or she may register to vote. The bill would amend the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, known as the “motor voter law.”

The Democrat-controlled Senate, however, is unlikely to take up the House bill.

In the states, the proposed constitutional amendments in effect would prevent local governments from expanding voting rights to noncitizens, as has occurred in California, Maryland, and Vermont.

“States can take action constitutionally to protect citizen voters,” Kerri Toloczko, executive director of the Election Integrity Network, told The Daily Signal.

“Opponents [of banning noncitizen voting] say it’s already illegal for foreign nationals to vote. It’s also illegal to steal a car,” Toloczko said. “There are so many loopholes in the National Voter Registration Act.”

As noted in my book “The Myth of Voter Suppression,” there have been numerous adjudicated cases of foreign nationals registering to vote and voting in past elections.

1996 federal law specifically prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections for president or members of Congress. However, the law doesn’t dictate what local governments can do.

In addition, the 1993 National Voter Registration Act requires voter registration at states’ motor vehicle departments and social services agencies.

In a case involving an Arizona law, the Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that states can’t require proof of citizenship for federal elections, but may do so for state elections. Currently, Arizona keeps separate voter registration lists for state and federal elections.

“It’s not quite the SAVE Act in these states, but it is a marker to overcome bad law at the federal level,” Jason Snead, executive director of the Honest Elections Project, told The Daily Signal, referring to ballot initiatives to amend state constitutions.

“Most state constitutions say that ‘every citizen can vote,’” Snead added. “Activist groups say that doesn’t mean only citizens can vote. So this language clarifies that.”

In 2022, constitutional amendments requiring citizenship to vote were approved by 73% of voters in Louisiana and 77% in Ohio, according to Ballotpedia. In 2020, similar constitutional amendments were approved by 79% of voters in Florida; 77% in Alabama; and 62% in Colorado, a blue state. In 2018, 65% of voters in North Dakota approved such an amendment.

The Brennan Center for Justice, a liberal think tank affiliated with New York University that opposes voter ID and similar reforms, argued in an April analysis that laws targeting noncitizen voting are unnecessary.

“Every legitimate study ever done on the question shows that voting by noncitizens in state and federal elections is vanishingly rare,” wrote Sean Morales-Doyle, director of the Brennan Center’s voting rights program.

“That includes the Brennan Center’s own study of 42 jurisdictions in the 2016 general election,” Morales-Doyle added. “We found that election officials in those places, who oversaw the tabulation of 23.5 million votes, referred only an estimated 30 incidents of suspected noncitizen voting for further investigation or prosecution. In other words, even suspected— not proven—noncitizen votes accounted for just 0.0001 percent of the votes cast.”

Census data shows that 21.7 million potential noncitizens live in the United States as of 2022, while 18 states and the District of Columbia issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, according to the Only Citizens Vote Coalition. Also, every noncitizen who is legally authorized to work in the U.S. is eligible to get a Social Security number.

“With a driver’s license and a Social Security number, any noncitizen can register to vote in any state UNLESS the state takes additional steps to verify U.S. citizenship,” the coalition’s website says.

When advocating passage of the SAVE Act, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., noted that Virginia last year removed about 1,500 registrants from the voter rolls who were noncitizens, and 22% of them had cast ballots.

Massachusetts and Ohio both removed noncitizens from voter rolls in recent years. Georgia found that 1,600 noncitizens attempted to vote. In 2017, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes resigned after the state admitted to registering illegal immigrants for several years.

No state constitutions explicitly allow foreign nationals to vote. By law, the District of Columbia and local jurisdictions in the states of California, Illinois, Maryland, and Vermont allow non-U.S. citizens to vote in local elections, but not in state or federal elections. This approach, however, requires election officials to keep separate lists of registered voters.

Advocates of election integrity argue that keeping separate lists can be difficult, and that noncitizen voters could slip through the cracks for state and federal elections.

New York City’s law allowing noncitizen voting in municipal elections was struck down in February by a federal appeals court.

In California, the cities of Oakland and San Francisco allow voting by noncitizens in local school board elections.

The District of Columbia allowed noncitizens to vote in all local elections, but faced bipartisan opposition as 42 House Democrats joined Republicans in attempting to block the city’s law. But the Senate took no action on the bill. The liberal editorial board of The Washington Post called the D.C. law “radical.”

Chicago has allowed noncitizens to vote in school board elections since 1989.

In Maryland, municipalities allowing foreign nationals to vote in local elections include Barnesville, Cheverly, Chevy Chase, Garrett Park, Glen Echo, Hyattsville, Martin’s Additions, Mount Rainier, Riverdale Park, Somerset, and Takoma Park.

In Vermont, three cities allow foreign nationals to vote:  Burlington, Montpelier, and Winooski.

Trump Attends NASCAR Race In Key Swing State

Former President Donald Trump attended NASCAR’s Coca Cola 500 on Sunday in North Carolina.

Trump last attended a NASCAR event in 2020 and was the fourth sitting president to become the Grand Marshall of the Daytona 500, according to USA Today. Sunday marks the first time a former or sitting president has attended a race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, the outlet reported.

A video of the former president’s plane, dubbed Trump Force One, doing a flyover at the race garnered hundreds of thousands of views after being posted on Twitter. In another video posted by Charlotte Motor Speedway, a crowd erupts in “USA” chants when greeting Trump.

The former president is leading hypothetical matchups against President Joe Biden in key swing states such as North Carolina. According to the RealClearPolitics average, Trump is leading Biden in North Carolina by five points. The former president won the state in the 2020 election with 50.1% of the vote, USA Today reported.

Before attending the Sunday race, Trump spoke at the Libertarian Party Convention in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. At the convention, Trump promised the party a cabinet position if he is elected with the help of their vote.

The closing arguments of Trump’s Manhattan Court case, which has spanned since April 15, is set to begin Tuesday. Throughout the duration of the trial, which left Trump Wednesdays and weekends free, the former president has claimed it has interfered with his ability to campaign.

“I’m supposed to be in Georgia, I’m supposed to be in New Hampshire, I’m supposed to be in Ohio and lots of other places, and they have me sitting here,” Trump said on April 30.

Since April 15, when Trump’s court case in Manhattan began, only allowing him Wednesdays and weekends free, the former president has held just three rallies as of May 18, according to a Daily Caller analysis. Trump conducted 28 rallies through the same time period in 2016.

More broadly, Trump’s campaigning has been less in 2024 than 2016, according to a Daily Caller analysis. Trump held 132 rallies across 43 states spanning from Jan. 1 to May 7, 2016. The former president has held just 24 rallies in 11 states in the same time period in 2024.

“When President Trump is not in court eight hours per day for the Biden Trial, he has been hosting rallies and fundraisers, doing local and national media interviews, and even hosting foreign leaders at Trump Tower who have asked to meet with him because they know he will soon return to the White House,” a campaign official told the Daily Caller in response to criticism that Trump wasn’t utilizing his free Wednesdays.

North Carolina Student Sues School after Being Suspended for Saying ‘Illegal Aliens’

In early April, 16-year-old high school student Christian McGhee faced severe backlash at Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina for using the term “illegal aliens” in his English class. His comment resulted in a three-day suspension and was met with threats and bullying upon his return. On Tuesday, the Liberty Justice Center (LJC) filed a lawsuit against the Davidson County Board of Education.

McGhee’s mention of “illegal aliens” came in the form of a question. After his teacher assigned “alien” as a vocabulary word, the sophomore asked whether she was alluding to “space aliens or illegal aliens who need green cards?” According to LJC, while “there was no substantial disruption to the class,” the administration decided his question was racially motivated.

“I didn’t make a statement directed towards anyone; I asked a question,” McGhee told The Carolina Journal. “I wasn’t speaking of Hispanics, because everyone from other countries needs green cards, and the term ‘illegal alien’ is an actual term that I hear on the news and can find in the dictionary.”

According to The Daily Caller, McGhee’s question allegedly offended one of his classmates who then wanted to fight him, but later admitted he was only joking. In an interview, McGhee’s mother, Leah McGhee, said that she believes the administration were the ones who “insinuated racism,” not the students.

“When lunch was over, the assistant principal came and removed the Hispanic kid from class, took him to his office, and said, ‘Are you sure you didn’t take this as offensive?’” she reported. “That led us to believe that he is the one that insinuated racism.”

Educational Freedom Attorney for LJC, Dean McGee, agreed with Leah’s perspective, blaming the administration that “pushed the narrative” instead of Central Davidson students.

“[We] think we’ve got a strong case under the First Amendment for free speech,” McGee told The Daily Caller. “We’ve got a strong case under the 14th Amendment for due process. They wouldn’t even let him [Christian] appeal this suspension, the branding of racism. So we think we have a strong case. We think the court should actually clear Christian’s record and we’re going to ask for damages.”

The fallout from the controversy led McGhee’s parents to withdraw him from the public school and finish out his year through a homeschool program.

“I have raised our son to reject racism in all its forms, but it is the school, not Christian, that injected race into this incident,” Leah told the LJC. “It appears that this administration would rather destroy its own reputation and the reputation of my son rather than admit they made a mistake.”

In an exclusive interview Tuesday morning with The Center Square, McGee talked about the broader implications of Christian’s situation.

“It impacts every student in the country and their right to speak without fear of aggressive retaliation from their administration,” he said. “In this case, our client, in the context of the conversation, asked a question that on its face was racially neutral. It was earnest in the class discussion.”

Christian’s question comes at a relevant time, as the country’s current border situation heightens. In February, Pew Research Center recently published a poll that looked at how Americans view the current border crisis. Although, “Young adults are far less engaged with news about the U.S.-Mexico border than are older people,” the poll found that 29% of young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 call the large number of migrants seeking to enter the U.S. a “crisis.”

Swing-State Voters Overwhelmingly Trust Trump Over Biden On Pivotal Issues Ahead Of November Election: POLL

Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by large margins on key domestic issues across seven battleground states ahead of the November election, a poll released Tuesday evening found.

Trump is trouncing Biden by 20 points on handling of the economy, border security, inflation and the “mental and physical fitness needed to be President,” according to a Wall Street Journal survey among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Inflation and illegal immigration have surged since Biden took office in January 2021, and questions concerning the president’s mental fitness continue to mount.

Swing-state voters also said they trust Trump 14 and nine points more than Biden to handle the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, respectively, according to the poll.

The only issues polled that Biden led Trump on were abortion and “protecting democracy.” Biden was trusted by 12 points more on the issue of abortion, as well as one point on protecting democracy, the survey found.

Trump also led Biden in the poll for a general election matchup by one point in Georgia; three points in Michigan and Pennsylvania; four points in Nevada; five points in Arizona; and six points in North Carolina. The two were tied in Wisconsin at 46%.

When independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., “Justice for All Party” candidate Cornel West, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Lars Mapstead were included, Trump’s leads grew in North Carolina and Georgia, according to the poll.

The former president’s margins stayed the same in Arizona, Nevada and Pennsylvania with the third-party contenders on the ballot, while his lead dropped by one point in Michigan and Wisconsin fell to Biden.

Trump is currently leading Biden in the RealClearPolitics average for 2024 matchups in ArizonaNevadaWisconsinMichiganPennsylvaniaNorth Carolina and Georgia anywhere from 0.6 to 5.2 points.

The WSJ poll surveyed 4,200 registered voters across the swing states from March 17 to March 24 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

Neither the Trump nor Biden campaigns immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

NORTH CAROLINA: Biden’s Weaponized DOJ Prosecutes & Fines Printing Company $30,000 for Upholding Immigration Laws

A North Carolina printing company Printful, Inc. must pay more than $30,000 for violating installed Marxist President Joe Biden’s “protect illegal immigrants policy”

Biden’s weaponized U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sued the printing company when they asked to see an employees Green Card which authorizes work and legal status in the United States.

Biden’s DOJ stated the individual had already proved her permission to work by submitting a Social Security card and driver’s license.

Civil Rights Division’s Immigrant and Employee’s Rights poster poster reads “If you have the right to work, don’t let anyone take it away.”

It directs applicants to call 1-800-255-7688 if an employer:

  1. Does not hire you or fires you because of your national origin or citizenship status
  2. Treats you unfairly while checking your right to work in the U.S., including while completing the Form I-9 or using E-Verify
  3. Retaliates against you because you are speaking up for your right to work as protected by this law.

A social security number is only valid 90 days when entering the USA as a legal permanent resident.

It is only re-adjudicated as an indefinite social security number after the Department of Homeland Security approves and issues the Green Card and or EAD or Employment Authorization Document.

A social security number and a drivers license does not authorize an individual who is a new legal immigrant to work in the USA. Thus the company was following congressional law when they requested proof of legal residency.

Biden’s weaponized DOJ are violating congressional law and maliciously prosecuted this company as a warning to other companies not to ask for proof of legal permanent residency.

The DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division stated: “Companies cannot reject workers’ valid documents or require specific or unnecessary documents based on citizenship status when checking their permission to work.”

A Green Card is not an unnecessary document it’s a mandatory document to be presented by a new legal permanent resident for job applications including entering the military.

The company must now pay a civil penalty of $27,500 to the U.S. Treasury and an additional $6,200 in back pay and lost wages to the employee.

This printing company has endured a malicious prosecution designed to protect illegal immigrants by Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke.

Elon Musk was also sued by Biden’s weaponized DOJ when he refused to hire illegal immigrants at Space X. A job that requires US citizenship and a security clearance due to the sensitivity of the positions.

Trump must totally dismantle this Marxist DOJ immediately upon taking office as our President in January 2025. Kristen Clarke must be fired on day one.

Uh Oh: Trump Surges Past Biden In Swing State Polls

Former President Donald Trump appears to have an advantage against President Joe Biden in 2024 among key battleground states in the 2020 election, according to a Friday poll.

The states that had the narrowest margin of victory for either candidate last cycle were Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, with Biden winning all but North Carolina. Across those key swing states, Trump is ahead of Biden 41% to 35%, and 24% of voters remain undecided, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Among independent voters, the former president also held a slight advantage over Biden, according to the poll. Trump received 32% support among independents compared to Biden’s 30%, and 38% were undecided. Uncertain voters favored Biden over Trump at 49% to 38%.

Biden and Trump are tied at 39% for a hypothetical head-to-head matchup in 2024, according to the survey. Many voters said they were concerned over the president’s age, as well as the economy and crime.

An overwhelming majority of voters at 77%, including 65% of Democrats, think Biden is too old for another term, and only 39% believed he had enough mental acuity for the job, according to the poll. Nearly 90% of respondents said crime would be a large determining factor of who they vote for, and 73% said the economy is the same or worse now than it was prior to the pandemic.

The RealClearPolitics (RCP) average for a 2024 national Democratic and Republican primary, based on the most recent polling , indicates Biden and Trump are leading their respective fields with 67.8% and 56.6%, respectively.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll surveyed 4,413 adults nationwide between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2%.

Neither Trump nor Biden immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

‘They Will Try To Bully You’: NC Rep Details Why She Left Democratic Party

North Carolina Rep. Tricia Cotham officially joined the Republican Party April 5, telling reporters she made the switch because she perceived the current Democratic Party to be intolerant.

“The modern-day Democratic Party has become unrecognizable to me and to so many others throughout this state and this country,” Cotham stated during a Wednesday morning press conference. “The party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgement, has solutions and wants to get to work to better our state.”

“If you don’t do exactly what the Democrats want you to do, they will try to bully you. They will try to cast you aside,” she added.

Cotham told reporters that upon returning to the new legislative session in January, she was told by her fellow Democratic officials that she needed to vote in lockstep with other Democrats to support Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s agenda.

“I will not be controlled by anyone,” she told reporters. “I have always been a free thinker, a woman of faith, a person of independent judgement, and of common sense.”

Rather than being praised for her independence, Cotham claimed she was called a “traitor” or a “spy” anytime she sought to reach across the aisle and work on problems with her Republican colleagues. “That is a terrible mentality and [it’s] just wrong what is happening in politics,” she stated.

Cotham’s decision to leave the Democratic Party and join the Republicans will give the GOP a supermajority in the North Carolina legislature, granting them veto power over Gov. Cooper. Her switch, therefore, was met with disdain by her former Democratic colleagues in the House who demanded she resign her seat over the switch.

Cotham, however, gave no indication that she would support every Republican stance, telling reporters, “I am still the same person, and I am going to do what I believe is right and follow my conscience.”

Calling her decision to switch parties, “deceit of the highest order,” Democratic Chair Anderson Clayton lambasted Cotham for putting North Carolina’s “future as a state” on the line, according to ABC 11 News.

Republicans, meanwhile, welcomed the switch with House Speaker Tim Moore assuring Cotham at the press conference that her independence would be valued under the “big tent” of the Republican Party. Moore added that even though Republicans in the state do not always see eye to eye on issues and sometimes vote against the mainstream party line, they “move on” without attacking one another in the media.

“We are thrilled to have Rep. Cotham join the Republican Party to advance solutions for North Carolina families,” NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley stated, according to ABC 11 News. “This announcement continues to reflect that the Democratic Party is too radical for North Carolina. The values of the Republican Party align with voters, and the People of Mecklenburg County should be proud to have her representation in Raleigh.”

North Carolina: Anti-Israel ‘Progressive’ Muslim Congressional Candidate Hopes to Become New ‘Squad’ Member

In 2015, the semi-demented Craig Hicks shot three of his neighbors because he believed they were using parking spaces to which they were not entitled. All three were Muslims. But he had a history of berating non-Muslims, too, over both parking spaces and making noise. His wife of seven years testified that  he had never spoken ill of Muslims, never denounced them, never expressed hostility to the ideology of Islam, on social media or anywhere else. In fact, he was anti-Christian, and on his Facebook page wrote: “Knowing several dozen Muslims…I’d prefer them to most Christians.” The police said there was no evidence of a “hate crime.” The prosecutor could come up with no evidence of a “hate crime.” But none of that mattered, or matters, to North Carolina Congressional candidate Nida Allam.

Allam has been  milking this non-existent hate crime for all it’s worth. Her website Nida For Congress includes this: “After three of her dear friends were murdered in 2015 — a case that drew national attention and triggered calls for stronger hate crime legislation — Nida Allam took to politics.”

She was spurred to run for office  because of the “hate crime” against “three of her dear friends.” Allam is not in the race to further her own wellbeing. Not at all. Personal aggrandizement, power and money and fame — these hold no attractions for the self-effacing Nida Allam. She has girded her loins and entered the political arena in answer to a higher call.  She wants to fight against the “hate crimes” that she insists took her friends’ lives.

She has a video at her Nida For Congress website, about her decision to run. Here’s a transcript of part of it:

I was 21 years old when three of my best friends were killed.

Deah, Yusor, and Razan, brutally murdered in a hate crime that shook our community to the core. My lie was shattered but I knew I couldn’t let their legacy die. I looked for ways to fight against the  hate that took my friends  to make sure that no one would have to experience the pain that we [Muslims] endured , to make sure that we [Muslims] could live with dignity and without fear.

I never set out to make history, but sometimes life has different plans [inshallah fatalism]..  It wasn’t just racism and hate that we faced….my service was born out of tragedy…I’m ready to take my passion and my experience [one year as County Commissioner] to the halls of Congress. I’ve been told that I don’t belong, that I ought to wait my turn, but North Carolina can’t wait….I’m Nida Allam, and I’m running for Congress because Congress can’t wait.

Goodness me. So Congress “can’t wait” for the appearance of Nida Allam, who is just like Mighty Mouse, “Here I come,  to save the day/That means that Mighty Mouse is on the way.” She does have a whole list of what she intends to accomplish. Most impressive. Nida Allam has a jobs program because  “everyone deserves a good paying job.” She wants to fight climate change, because “Black, brown, and working class communities are on the front lines of this crisis.” She has a health care platform: “Everyone deserves comprehensive high-quality healthcare coverage that includes primary care, vision, hearing, dental, mental health care, reproductive health care, and more.” Sounds good to me. She has a housing plan: “Housing is a human right, and all of our neighbors deserve a safe and stable place to live.” “Education? “Every child deserves a quality public school education.” And so on and so mindlessly forth. Foreign policy? “We need to end our ‘so-called war on terror.’”

She never mentions Israel in her “Nida Allam For Congress” website. A curious but understandable admission – Nida may be a fool, but she’s “no fool,” given that this past May, amid escalating violence between Israel and Hamas, Allam participated in a pro-Palestinian rally where protestors chanted slogans such as “Israel is an apartheid state” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” the latter of which is correctly understood to be a call to eliminate Israel. In a live video she posted to her Facebook page on May 22, Allam appears to have been chanting that line along with her fellow protestors.

A week earlier, Allam attended a May 15 demonstration in downtown Raleigh marking the annual date of the ‘Nakba’ when Palestinians mark the war of 1948.

Following the May 15 rally, the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary released a statement identifying alleged instances of “antisemitic rhetoric” used by some demonstrators, including “posters combining Israeli and Nazi imagery.” One poster, the statement said, featured then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Benjamin “wearing a Hitler moustache,” while another declared, “Israel, Hitler would be proud of you.”

For her part, Allam denounced what she described as “ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and murder of children” in comments to a local newspaper reporter at the event.

Near the beginning of the May conflict, Allam released a statement of her own calling for a wholesale cessation of U.S. military aid to Israel, which is guaranteed in annual installments of $3.8 billion through a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. “We must end this negligent spending that is being used to oppress the Palestinian people,” Allam wrote, echoing the sentiments of a handful of far-left lawmakers in the House who have argued in favor of conditioning or eliminating aid to the Jewish state.

“I condemn all violence in this conflict and urge the United States to acknowledge our complacency in the continuing Israel-Palestine conflict,” Allam argued at the time.

In June 2018, after reports that the U.S. had quietly frozen aid to the Palestinian Authority, Allam weighed in with an incendiary Twitter comment. “This is the United States of Israel.”

Peter Riezes has reported on Nida Allam’s candidacy here:

Nida Allam, a 27-year-old progressive activist and Durham, North Carolina County Commissioner, announced last week that she will run for the Congressional seat of retiring Rep. David Price (D-NC).

I first researched Allam during her 2019 campaign for County Commissioner, due to her anti-Israel positions. What I found was a history of abhorrent statements that extended far beyond Israel.

In 2018, Allam tweeted, “This is the United States of Israel,” which is consistent with centuries-old antisemitic propaganda that Jews seek to dominate the world.

In 2013, Allam tweeted, “F*** the police,” and she has made many offensive and hateful posts over the years.

I spoke with award-winning Durham columnist and Black minister, Carl W. Kenney II, who told me that Allam’s use of the N-word in a 2014 tweet is “appalling.”

When asked if it matters that Allam’s tweet is from 2014, Kenney responded:

I think it speaks to character issues. I think it speaks to a lack of sensitivity. We have a person who has a desire to run for US Congress at 27…What has she done in building relationships with the Black community to help soothe the pain connected to making that type of statement? … I’m not comfortable that she’s learned a lesson.

When asked about Allam’s “F*** the police” tweet, Kenney told me that while he understands the anger, “In Durham, we’re not one to say ‘f*** the police.’ We want to say we want to work with the police.”

Allam was at the time pressuring  the Durham police to end their training arrangement with the Israeli police, falsely claiming that such training “militarized” the Durham Police Force.

“I met with Kenney via Zoom and asked if it is acceptable that I — someone who is not Black — cite Allam’s N-word tweet in this column as a warning to the public. Kenney responded, “You have an obligation to do that. … For people to fully understand what we are talking about, they need to have it in its original form.”

Here’s Allam’s unseemly tweet: “Kid in front of me is in a group text called “United N*gga Network.’ Where do I apply?”

In 2019, Allam tweeted a picture of herself standing with a Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) sign. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) describes JVP as “a radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the state of Israel.”…

Allam has repeatedly promoted her close ties with noted antisemite Linda Sarsour, calling Sarsour “my shero, role-model, mentor, and so much more.”

Sarsour has been widely criticized for advocating for the destruction of Israel via the BDS movement and other means, saying “Nothing is creepier than Zionism,” and advising Muslims not to “humanize” Israelis.

Earlier this year, Black constituents and politicians strongly criticized Allam and two other Durham commissioners for what was viewed by many as racially divisive policies.

“There is a sense in the Black community that she [Allam] is among the politicians here who doesn’t really talk to Black people” Kenny [sic] told me. “They have an idea of what is best for Black people without actually engaging in the conversation. That’s a problem.”

On his widely read blog, Kenney warns: “If Allam has her way, the race for Congress will not be determined by local Black voters. It will be won by the support of the national media and progressive politicians desirous of an addition to The Squad — joining Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).”…

Just hours after Allam announced her run for Congress, Ilhan Omar tweeted, “Let’s go Nida!”; Keith Ellison tweeted, “Great Candidate”; and Linda Sarsour retweeted Allam’s campaign announcement….

Nida Allam’s campaign received $115,000 in donations in just the first day it opened. Muslims from all over the country sent money, eager to add one more anti-Israel voice to Congress,  provide  another potential collaborator of Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, another member of the Squad. No doubt CAIR is out fundraising for her, raising money among Muslims across the country who are relentlessly focused on increasing Muslim power in Washington. This would-be squadette needs to be stopped in her tracks, or headed off at the pass, preferably by an African-American candidate who will make good use of Allam’s “United N*gga Network” tweet,  and of her palpable want of interest, according to the columnist and black minister Carl Kenney II, in African-Americans.

According to her website, the essence of Nida Allam is that she is “working for a brighter future.” What a fantastic idea. Really, who could disagree?

Trump Campaign Hands Out ‘Peaceful Protester’ Signs To Crowd At North Carolina Rally

President Donald Trump’s campaign handed out “peaceful protester” signs to rally-goers in Winston-Salem, North Carolina Tuesday evening, the campaign confirmed to the Daily Caller.

The president told the crowd that he has “decided to call our rallies peaceful protests,” The Guardian reported Tuesday. In addition to calling the rallies “peaceful protests,” the campaign handed out signs with the phrase.

Trump has been outspoken regarding rioting that has occurred in various parts of the country since the death of George Floyd in May. The president accused Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden of giving “moral aid and comfort to the vandals repeating the monstrous lie that these were peaceful protests” during a press briefing on Aug. 31.

Biden, amid unrest, condemned “violence no matter who it is” during an interview with WGAL News 8 released Sept. 7. He also noted towards the end of August that “protesting brutality is a right and absolutely necessary” but “burning down communities is not protest, it’s needless violence.”

Trump elaborated on his use of the phrase Tuesday and said that it is, in part, because of maximum capacity mandates in North Carolina. Protests have been largely exempt from maximum capacity rules set by each state due to COVID-19.

“Because they have rules in these Democrat-run states that if you campaign you cannot have more than five people,” Trump said according to The Guardian, which noted gatherings in North Carolina have a maximum of 50 people and masks are necessary.

“You can’t go to church, you can’t do anything outside,” Trump continued. “If you are willing to riot, running down the main street, if you want to riot and stand on top of each other’s face and do whatever the hell you want to do, you are allowed to do that because you are considered a peaceful protester.”

NORTH CAROLINA: First Muslim Woman to Win Elected Office in the State Flaunted Hijab as Campaign Logo

Nida Allam has been elected to office in North Carolina, and her campaign has prioritized the significance of her Democratic primary win in Durham county:

The campaign told CNN that officials looked back at previous North Carolina election data, county by county, and found no previous Muslim American women who had won elections to hold office in the state. “That’s when you realize — this hasn’t been done,” Allam told CNN.

Allam celebrates and promotes the hijab — an Islamic symbol of female oppression — and deems it bigotry to oppose it:

My silhouette on my campaign logo is of my hijab because I wanted to be very unapologetic about that. These little girls were so excited. They said, ‘That’s you? Is that really a hijab? Is that a hijab that you use?’ They were so excited to see that kind of representation,” Allam said. “And it really solidified for me how important it was to for me to be running for office.”

This is what Nida Allam beams with pride over and wants Americans to accept:

(Quran 24:31) And tell the believing women to reduce of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

If a woman does not cover, she is fair game to be assaulted:

(Quran 33:59) O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused.

Allam was a signatory to a Muslim Affairs Council petition entitled We stand with Rep. Ilhan Omar and subtitled Community leaders from all over the US are supporting Rep. Ilhan Omar against bigotry.

Allam wants to see “better” education in schools, since in her view, opposing the hijab is rooted in “hatred” and “bigotry”:

“Allam said she wanted to run for commissioner because of the significant role the board has in allocating funding for schools. ‘This type of hatred and bigotry that my friends were lost to, I feel like there’s a lack of education, that also leads to that type of environment,’ she said.”

CAIR, which has been increasingly influential in North Carolina, not surprisingly supported Allam’s candidacy. Back in September, CAIR called on North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest to “withdraw from headlining an event featuring several controversial anti-Islamic speakers.” According to North Carolina Policy Watch, the roster of speakers for the “private conservative Christian event” included:

  • A pastor who calls the notion of a separation between church and state “cowardice” and those in the movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality “militant homofascists” bent on turning the U.S. into Sodom.
  • An author who has railed against Muslims as would-be conquerors and rapists and LGBTQ rights as a first step to America living under Sharia law.
  • A pastor and Republican politician who has asserted anyone not committed to the U.S. as an explicitly Judeo-Christian nation should leave.

No names were given and no fair coverage was provided about what message these individuals have actually delivered.

CAIR’s national communications director, Ibrahim Hooper, stated that “such ‘comments’ once regarded as limited to the political fringe – have sadly become more mainstream in American politics.” Then Hooper proceeded to blame (who else?) Donald Trump:

“Unfortunately with the election of Donald Trump we’ve seen the empowerment of white supremacy, xenophobia, Islamophobia and anti-immigrant extremism around the country,” Hooper said. “That includes among lower level public officials who perhaps had these beliefs in the past but kept them private.”

North Carolina Policy Watch featured more “Muslim rights activists in North Carolina,” who stated that they were “pushing back….after the U.S. Education Department ordered the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies to revise its curriculum, saying it is advancing ‘ideological priorities’ and promoting ‘the positive aspects of Islam’ and is in danger of losing its federal grant funding.”

The alliance between Nida Allam, CAIR, and the Muslim Public Affairs Council, and her unwavering support for Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib should be matters of concern.

“North Carolina woman says she’s first Muslim American woman to win elected office in the state,” by Jessica Campisi, CNN, March 5, 2020:

(CNN)Nida Allam made history on Tuesday night when she became the first Muslim American woman to be elected to office in North Carolina, her campaign says.

Allam, who ran as a Democrat, was one of five women to win the party’s primary for the Durham County Board of Commissioners’ five seats, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections. She finished fourth with 39,523 votes.

Since there are no Republican candidates running in the general election, Allam and the four other candidates will presumptively take office in November.

“People of Durham you made history last night by electing me as the FIRST Muslim Woman to serve the state of North Carolina,” Allam tweeted Wednesday morning. “I can’t even express how grateful I am to have earned your trust and support.”

The campaign told CNN that officials looked back at previous North Carolina election data, county by county, and found no previous Muslim American women who had won elections to hold office in the state.

“That’s when you realize — this hasn’t been done,” Allam told CNN.

Muslim advocacy groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and Muslim Advocates, celebrated the win.
“She succeeded where others weren’t able to break through that glass ceiling,” Robert McCaw, the council’s Government Affairs Department director, told CNN.

Allam’s campaign priorities include a $15 minimum wage for county workers, boosting mental health services in schools and investing in businesses run by women and people of color, according to her website….
