Tim Walz Suggests ICE Is ‘Trump’s Modern-Day Gestapo’ In Commencement Speech

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz compared the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel executing the Trump administration’s immigration agenda to the Gestapo in a Saturday commencement address at the University of Minnesota law school.

President Donald Trump issued several executive orders to address illegal immigration and border security, including designating Mexican drug cartels and South and Central American gangs as foreign terrorist organizations, and the president has also invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to speed up the deportation of gang members. Walz, the failed Democratic nominee for vice president in 2024, suggested during the speech that Trump is using ICE to implement his immigration agenda in similar fashion to how Nazi German dictator Adolf Hitler used the Gestapo secret police to target opponents, according to RealClearPolitics.

“Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets,” Walz claimed. “They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons—no chance to mount a defense, not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye, just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans, and disappeared.”

WATCH:

“To be clear, there’s no way for us to know whether they were actually criminals or not, because they refused to give them a trial,” Walz continued. “We’re supposed to just take their word for it.”

Democrats initially rallied around Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an adjudicated member of MS-13 deported to El Salvador in March, as a symbol of resistance to Trump’s immigration policies, and several members of Congress — including Democratic Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen — traveled to El Salvador to visit Abrego Garcia. The Trump administration released a 13-page dossier detailing the evidence suggesting that Abrego Garcia is a MS-13 gang member in April, which included rulings from immigration courts that found he was a member of the El Salvadoran prison gang.

Recent polling indicates that 48.3% of Americans approve Trump’s approach to immigration so far, and that 48.9% disapprove, according to RealClearPolling. A White House fact sheet released in late April showed that border crossings, migrant encounters and “gotaways” were all down by 93% or more through the first 100 days of the Trump administration.

Walz also claimed Trump was trying to intimidate members of Congress, referencing a chaotic May 9 incident involving Democratic New Jersey Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, LaMonica McIver and Rob Menendez Jr. outside an ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey. The Democratic lawmakers denied wrongdoing in a May 11 appearance on CNN.

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy toured the ICE facility in Newark and describer her observations during a Monday appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“ICE has nothing to hide,” Campos-Duffy said. “They have nothing to be ashamed of. This facility is so clean. It has, you know, all kind of recreation facilities, outdoor soccer field, weight equipment, domino tables. It has telephones everywhere with signs next to them of how they can, phone numbers to reach their consulate and also legal facilities, computer web cams.”

“There are doors on the bedrooms and they aren’t even locked,” Campos-Duffy continued. “The facility actually looks like a high school.”

Walz is considered a possible Democratic candidate for president in the 2028 election cycle.

Tim Walz Gloats About Tesla Stock Dip While Ignoring His State’s 1.6 Million Shares In Its Retirement Fund

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz recently mocked Tesla and CEO Elon Musk over the company’s stock dropping while seemingly ignoring the fact that Minnesota’s state pension fund contained sizable shares of Tesla stock.

WATCH: Tim Walz Gloats About Tesla Stock Dip Ignoring His State’s 1.6 Million Shares in state Retirement Fund

During a Tuesday town hall in Wisconsin, Walz said that he checks the value of Tesla’s stock when he needs “a little boost.” Walz’s state, however, had 1.6 million shares of Tesla stock in its retirement fund as of June 2024, directly impacting public workers such as teachers and first responders.

“Some of you know this, on the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app,” Walz said Tuesday. “I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping. And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off.”

“I’m not a vindictive person or anything but I take great pleasure in the fact that this guy’s life is going to get very, very difficult,” Walz added about Musk.

Musk recently told employees to hang on to their Tesla stock after the company’s shares dropped more than 50% in just three months, Bloomberg reported Friday. Shortly after Walz’s diss about Tesla stocks, Musk took to social media to jab at Walz over his failed 2024 vice presidential campaign.

“Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord,” Musk wrote in a March 19 post on X.

Investor Kevin O’Leary criticized Walz during a Thursday appearance on CNN over the governor’s recent comments about Tesla’s stock, calling it “beyond stupid.”

“That poor guy [Walz] didn’t check his portfolio and his own pension plan for the state,” O’Leary said. “It’s beyond stupid what he did.”

“What’s the matter with that guy?” O’Leary added. “He doesn’t check the well-being of his own constituents.”

Tesla dealerships and chargers across the U.S. have been hit with a wave of vandalism in recent weeks amid ongoing backlash against Musk due to his close ties to the White House and his efforts to eliminate wasteful spending across the federal government as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Notably, other blue states have previously invested in Tesla stocks alongside Minnesota, including Oregon, which has roughly $135.3 million in Tesla stocks in its state pension fund, which equates to 0.7% of the fund’s total public equity holdings, according to OregonLive. New York’s pension fund also possessed roughly $1.42 billion worth of Tesla stock as of December 2024, according to Pensions & Investments.

Still, many Democratic lawmakers have continued publicly criticizing Musk and Tesla, including Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who claimed in March that Musk “is a billionaire con man with a lot of money,” as well as Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who wrote in a Thursday post on X that President Donald Trump and Musk “turned the White House into a Tesla dealership. Is that where you want your taxpayer dollars going? Nope.”

Walz is currently embarking on a town hall tour of red districts across the U.S. The Minnesota governor could run for reelection in 2026, though he told The New Yorker in a March 2 interview that he would potentially consider launching a 2028 presidential bid if the conditions and his “skill set” were right.

Walz’s office did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Walz woos Islamic voters, promises Muslims would ‘serve side by side’ in a Harris White House

Democrats are dedicated to advancing the red-green axis. Tim Walz “sought to appeal to Muslim American voters on Thursday during a virtual meeting with Emgage Action” — exactly as Joe Biden did in 2020 when he sold out America for votes. In early 2020, the same organization, Emgage, launched its Million Muslim Votes campaign in order to galvanize a million Muslim Americans to vote for Biden.

Read all about it here: Biden’s pact with Muslim Brotherhood-linked group Emgage, and his conundrum over Hamas’ war on Israel.

Both America and Israel have been betrayed enough during the Biden administration. The pattern will continue, and get much worse, during a Harris-Walz administration.

Walz declares Muslims would ‘serve side by side’ in a Harris administration

Washington Examiner, October 5, 2024:

Democratic vice presidential hopeful Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) sought to appeal to Muslim American voters on Thursday during a virtual meeting with Emgage Action.

While speaking during the online meeting hosted by the Muslim American advocacy organization, Walz vowed to give Muslim Americans a voice in a Harris-Walz administration should they win the presidential election, Reuters reported. The Minnesota governor announced to viewers in attendance that Muslim Americans would be actively engaged and “serve side by side.”

Emgage Action announced its endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris last week. Walz’s participation in Thursday’s event coincided with the debut of Arab Americans for Harris-Walz, NBC News reported.

“Vice President Harris and I are committed that this White House… will continue to condemn in all forms anti-Islam, anti-Arab sentiments being led by Donald Trump, but more importantly, a commitment that Muslims will be engaged in this administration and serve side by side,” Walz declared….

ROOKE: Four Horsemen Of Harris’s Campaign Apocalypse Have Arrived

Vice President Kamala Harris is experiencing what could be the end of her campaign as four major issues converge simultaneously.

It’s not hyperbole that Harris needs an easy October politically if she wants to win the White House. The race between her and former President Donald Trump is so close that any disruption could result in a last-minute vote surge. Unfortunately for Harris, she is staring down four issues that will be a disaster for her campaign as Nov. 5 approaches.

The least discussed but most important problem facing Harris (and the rest of the country) is the longshoreman port strike that started Oct. 1. It’s likely Americans are just realizing that negotiations that have been going on for months between United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) are at an impasse. The promised strike started Tuesday, and workers have vowed to hold out until their wage and automation protection demands are met.

Already, parking lots at major retailers are filled with cars as Americans prepare for massive disruptions to supply chains and a rapid increase in inflationary prices. While Harris can count on the media to demonize these workers as selfish, greedy people looking for a payout, what they aren’t willing to tell the American people is that none of this would be an issue if the Biden-Harris administration had protected American manufacturing so that we didn’t have to rely on foreign countries (who control our docks) to make the products we use every day and longshoremen to unload these products from the docks.

Harris is now stuck between a rock and a hard place. If the Biden-Harris administration does not weigh in on the strike, she might win political points with union workers, but she will have lost the vote of the American family. Should the Biden-Harris administration force port workers back to work as they did with the rail strike, it may negate some economic damage. The harm will still be done, however: Americans should still brace for a pretty hefty economic impact, and Harris should expect blue-collar workers not to show up to vote for her in November.

Either way, the American taxpayer will bear the cost of this fight after four years of Democrat policies causing almost unrelenting inflation that erased the purchasing power of our dollar.

Harris also faces a humanitarian tragedy in the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and parts of Georgia as the effects of Hurricane Helene continue to unfold. The optics here are terrible. President Joe Biden told Americans that the federal government and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had no more support to give the affected areas because they pre-planned a package. Biden and Harris, however, were slow to acknowledge the damage being done by Helene, and neither of them have visited the areas to appear at least a little bit concerned.

Staged photo ops of Harris sitting at command centers in DC aren’t going to be enough. The people on the ground are complaining about the lack of state and federal support. Thousands of people are stuck in their homes with no running water, food, medicine or way out of the disaster — that’s if the flooding and mudslides didn’t annihilate their homes. The death toll will continue to rise, and it seems like this disaster didn’t become an issue for Harris until Trump mentioned it in his campaign speech. Whether this is true or not doesn’t really matter. What matters is that people on the ground feel this way, and Trump is the only candidate to fly to Georgia with supplies and meet with emergency crews for an update on the devastation.

For these voters, the question will be: Where was Harris when we needed her? The answer is that Harris was at a California fundraiser securing cash for her campaign. Harris can only hope the media will help Americans memory-hole her lack of action. Without this safety net, the appearance of callous indifference will turn voters off.

Additionally, immigration continues to be a thorn in Harris’s side. It’s a product of her own making, so she shouldn’t be shocked that it’s looming over her campaign. Still, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) letter sent to Republican Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales in late September states that as of July 21, 662,566 illegal immigrants with criminal histories were on ICE’s national docket, with 425,431 convicted criminals not detained. This list includes 13,099 criminally convicted murderers, 2,521 kidnappers, 9,461 sex offenders (not involving assault or commercialized sex), 15,811 sexual assault offenders and 2,200 sex traffickers.

The ICE letter is merely a glimpse of the people who come across the southern border and makes Trump’s campaign statements about foreign countries opening their prisons and mental institutions and sending these people to America ring true. Harris can’t escape from the fact that Biden put her in charge of the “root causes of migration” or that she was dubbed the “Border Czar.” She is now synonymous with open border policies that are wreaking havoc in our country.

And all of this is coming at the worst time for her. Not only does she have just over a month until the Nov. 5 election, but her vice presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is set to debate Trump’s pick, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Tuesday night. Walz will have to answer for all of these issues. I expect Vance to bring up the longshoremen strike, the Biden-Harris disastrous response to Hurricane Helene and Harris’s open border policies.

While the VP debate has done little to move the needle for presidential campaigns in the past, this year could be different. The two assassination attempts on Trump’s life give new meaning to the duties of the vice president should something happen to the president. Vance and Walz are not just interviewing with the American people for the supporting role. They are trying to prove that should anything happen to Trump or Harris, they are more than capable of taking charge of the country.

Harris can’t afford for this debate to go badly for Walz; in the same way, it would be a disaster should the longshoremen strike implode, the victims of Hurricane Helene speak out against her and the effects of illegal immigration continue to be a problem. Her campaign needs an easy October, but it’s looking like she’s riding into Revelation.

‘Nervous As Hell’: Bewildered Walz Emerges From Media Quarantine Only To Get Shelled By Vance

After hardly speaking to the media since becoming Democrats’ Vice Presidential nominee, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz stumbled and gaffed through his highly anticipated debate against Senator JD Vance.

Vance and Walz faced off Monday on CBS News in what appears to be the last debate of the 2024 election cycle. Vance, who has done about seven times more media appearances than the Harris-Walz ticket combined, was noticeably confident next to Walz, who tripped through his defense of past lies.

“I think the lack of interviews he has done with local media, with national media, it shows. He needed more practice,” CNN’s Dana Bash said on the network’s post-debate show.

Walz’s nerves were on display from the moment he took the debate stage and stumbled through an answer on how his administration would support Israel in retaliation against Iran.

After Walz blamed Trump for the crisis in the Middle East, Vance pivoted to point out that the former president wasn’t the one in charge when the war broke out.

“I think that something Gov. Walz just said is quite extraordinary. You, yourself just said Iran is as close to a nuclear weapon today as they have ever been. And Gov. Walz blamed President Trump. Who has been the vice president for the last three-and-a-half years? And the answer is your running mate, not mine,” Vance said.

“Walz is nervous as hell,” Saagar Enjeti, co-host of Breaking Points and former Daily Caller White House correspondent, tweeted four minutes into the debate.

Walz’s first major stumble came about forty minutes into the debate when he was asked about a CNN report stating that he had falsely claimed to have been in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre.

“Now look, my community knows who I am.  They saw where I was at. I will be the first to tell you, I poured my heart into my community. I’ve tried to do the best I can, but I’ve not been perfect, and I’m a knucklehead at times, but it’s always been about them. Those same people elected me to Congress for 12 years and in Congress, I was one of the most bipartisan people working on things like farm bills that we got done and working on veterans’ benefit,” Walz said, adding that sometimes he gets caught up in the rhetoric.

After he failed to explain the discrepancy, the CBS moderators asked Walz again. The governor then said he misspoke, before repeating the lie that he was in Hong Kong during the massacre.

“All I said on this was I got there that summer and misspoke on this. So I, I will, just, that is what I said. So I was in Hong Kong and China during the Democracy protests [inaudible] and from that I learned a lot about what needed to be in governance,” Walz said.

His most consequential gaffe of the night came when Walz claimed he was friends with school shooters while trying to answer a question on gun control.

“Governor, you previously opposed an assault weapons ban, but only later in your political career did you change your position. Why?” moderator Norah O’Donnell asked.

“Yeah, I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I’ve become friends with school shooters. I’ve seen it,” Walz began. “Look the NRA, I was an NRA guy for a long time. They used to teach gun safety. I’m of the age where my shotgun was in my car so I could pheasant hunt after football practice. That is not where we live today.”

My daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting. It’s absolutely abhorrent that Tim Walz has befriended school shooters. Disqualifying. https://t.co/Q0tkhmHFAi

— Andrew Pollack (@AndrewPollackFL) October 2, 2024

Vance’s confidence and assertiveness towards moderators O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan was also a theme.

Twenty minutes into the debate, Brennan attempted to fact-check Vance on the migration in Springfield, Ohio, after the network agreed to not do any fact-checking beforehand. Vance expressed concern about how 20,000 Haitian migrants have flooded into Springfield, Ohio, over the past three years and overwhelmed the town.

Brennan attempted to move onto another question after, adding that the Haitian migrants had “legal status.” Vance, while trying to challenge the assertion, had his mic cut.

“Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio, does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status, temporary protected status,” Brennan said.

“But Margaret … The rules were that you guys weren‘t going to fact-check, and since you‘re fact-checking me, I think it‘s important to say what‘s actually going on,” Vance responded. “So there‘s an application called the CBP One app — where you can go on as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for parole and be granted legal status at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand. That is not a person coming in applying for a green card and waiting for 10 years — ” Vance started to reply before Brennan told the senator they needed to move on and his mic was cut.

Polling has shown Americans have found Walz to be a more attractive running mate than Vance. Early on after being tapped, Vance faced a barrage of Democratic attacks that branded him as “weird” for past statements. Yet Vance, to Republicans’ satisfaction, began to find his footing as Walz was forced to defend his close ties to China and false claims about his military record.

Despite Walz’s favorability advantage, Democrats began to pivot mid-debate and argue that the vice presidential debate has little to no impact on the state of the presidential race.
“Bottom line on this is that I don’t think this changes the race at all,” former Obama advisor David Axelrod said on the CNN post show.

Here’s the thing:

VPs don’t make policy. Presidents do.

Who talks about the Pence years?!?

— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) October 2, 2024

“I actually think most Americans fundamentally understand that the VP is not the President,” former Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill tweeted.

Whether the vice president pick affects the race or not, nearly an hour into the debate, Politico admitted Vance had the upper hand.

“Vibe check: JD Vance is doing really well tonight,” their headline read.

EXCLUSIVE: Walz Administration To Hold Racially Segregated Retreat For ‘BIPOC’ Librarians

Minnesota State Library Services, part of Democratic Gov. Tim Walz’s administration, plans to use public funds to pay for a retreat intended exclusively for “BIPOC” librarians, according to documents obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Walz administration describes the event, which will take place in October, as “a day of professional development and network-building designed specifically for BIPOC library workers of Minnesota,” according to a registration page. Minnesota will use public funds to cover hotel lodging, meals and other fees for those attending the program, state documents show.

“BIPOC” stands for “black, indigenous and people of color.”

A sign-up form for the event allows those seeking to attend the program to select from an assortment of races and sexualities to describe themselves but “heterosexual” and “white” are notably missing from the options available.

Nicole Cooke, a professor of library and information science at the University of South Carolina, is booked as a keynote speaker for the event, according to an agenda obtained by the DCNF.

Cooke has argued that it is “tantamount to malpractice” to allow students to enter the workforce without first being educated on diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. In 2017, she received a grant to study “racial microaggressions in libraries,” according to a press release.

The professor has a long history of giving presentations on the importance of center racial justice and diversity when managing libraries, according to her personal website. In 2020, she created an “anti-racism resources for all ages” project which includes a number of materials intended to introduce children to the topic.

“Anti-racism” is part of a framework first coined by left-wing academic Ibram X. Kendi that holds anyone not actively resisting what he defines to be racism is a racist. It is impossible to be neutral on the issue of racism, according to Kendi.

Minnesota State Library Services is directed by Tamara Lee who, according to her LinkedIn profile, is “passionate about early literacy and racial equity in libraries” and has expressed support for Kendi’s idea of anti-racism.

Lee co-authored a 2021 piece in Information Today where she argued that “niceness” is a “tool of white supremacy” because she believes it can be used by racists to absolve themselves of wrongdoing. She argued that librarians must take an active role in educating children on racial activism.

“Children are often aware of race long before we think they are,” Lee wrote. “Starting open and honest conversations with them about race early on can prepare them to be anti-racism practitioners their whole lives.”

The state librarian also wrote a paper in 2016 that advocated for making children’s story time “racially diverse, equitable and inclusive.”

Lee is listed as one of the primary points of contact on documents sharing details about the BIPOC exclusive librarian program. She was also involved in planning the event.

Walz is no stranger to using public resources to hold racially segregated events. His Department of Education held “restorative justice” teacher trainings in 2022 that white educators were explicitly barred from attending. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs also held trainings intended to alleviate homelessness among veterans but only invited white people to participate if they were willing to serve as a “stakeholder or ally” to non-white and LGBT veterans.

Lee, the Harris campaign, the Minnesota governor’s office and the Minnesota State Library Service did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

EXCLUSIVE: Tim Walz Appointed Member Of Political Party ‘loyal’ To Chinese Communists To State Board

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, appointed a member of a political faction that has pledged loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to a state board that advises the government on Asian-American affairs, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.

Walz first appointed Chang Wang, a Minnesota-based attorney, to the Council On Asian Pacific Minnesotans in May 2020. Wang now serves as the “interim chair” of the Council On Asian Pacific Minnesotans, which advises the governor, legislature and other state agencies by promoting the “economic, social, legal and political equality of Asian Pacific Minnesotans,” according to its website. Wang’s term is up in January 2025.

The council spent more than half a million dollars of taxpayer funding in 2023, according to its annual report.

But for over a decade, Wang has also been affiliated with the China Association For Promoting Democracy (CAPD), the DCNF found through a review of Chinese government announcements, archived University of Minnesota records and Chinese-language publications written by Wang himself.

CAPD is one of the handful of alternative Chinese political parties allowed to operate in the communist nation. Like China’s other minor parties, CAPD is “loyal” to the CCP and continues “to function within the structure of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC),” which is the country’s top political advisory body, according to the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress.

CAPD is allowed to operate in China based upon their organization’s stated promise to “rally closely around” the CCP’s Central Committee and play a role as advisors and assistants to the CCP, according to Xinhua, China’s official news agency.

Since joining the Minnesota state council, records show that Wang has been recognized by the Chinese government on multiple occasions, including granting him a title and even accepting a policy research proposal he submitted.

“My elderly parents are my only ties to China,” Wang told the DCNF by email, when asked about his relationship with CAPD. Wang’s profile on the University of Minnesota’s website does not currently mention his CAPD affiliation, though an archived version does.

Wang previously told the outlet China Insight his parents were “senior scientists” at “Academia Sinica,” which is the historic name for the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). CAS reports directly to China’s State Council, with “much of its work contributing to products for military use,” according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

CAS is a “privileged institution” that’s “tightly monitored” by the CCP, said Steve Yates, China Policy Initiative chair at the America First Policy Institute and former Chinese language analyst for the National Security Agency.

“For someone to have two parents in that entity, it basically is the equivalent of being not just a made man, but a made family,” Yates told the DCNF.

Wang has also previously said he works as a senior associate professor of law at the Beijing-based China University of Political Science and Law, whose website still lists him as faculty.

Neither Walz’s office nor the Harris-Walz campaign responded to multiple requests for comment.

Walz’s close relationship with China and its political mechanisms have come under intense scrutiny from Republican lawmakers, like Kentucky Rep. James Comer, who recently sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting information pertaining to “any Chinese entity or individual with whom Mr. Walz may have engaged or partnered.”

Walz has traveled to China approximately 30 times and even worked for Macau Polytechnic University while serving in Congress, Comer’s letter says. Media reports have also dug up past comments from Walz where he appears to lavish praise on Chinese communism — for instance, Walz reportedly told high school students in 1991 that communism “means that everyone is the same and everyone shares.”

More recently, the DCNF reported that Walz has attended numerous events organized by members of a Minnesota nonprofit affiliated with a CCP influence and intelligence agency. Among other examples, members of the nonprofit and related organizations held a fundraiser for Walz’s gubernatorial reelection in 2022, the DCNF found.

“You would think that there would be some screening,” Yates said of Walz’s appointment of Wang.

“Of what possible value-add is someone with ties to that entity in China to the citizens of the United States or to Minnesota, and why would a governor with a generation of experience coming and going to the People’s Republic of China want someone from that world having privileged access to advise leaders in Minnesota on any issue?” Yates told the DCNF.

‘Not Really About Democracy’

While the word “democracy” appears in its name, CAPD describes itself as “a political party that accepts the leadership of the CCP and cooperates with the CCP as a participant in socialism with Chinese characteristics.” CAPD also says its members are mainly intellectuals working in academia, science, media and related fields.

“When you are engaging entities from communist countries that have the word ‘democracy’ in them, you have a near 100% chance that they’re not really about democracy,” Yates told the DCNF. “You’re talking about organizations that are meant to interact with people and groups in the Free World on behalf of the ultimate authority in the PRC: the CCP.”

John Dotson, deputy director of the Global Taiwan Institute, told the DCNF that CAPD is “one of what the CCP calls the ‘eight democratic parties’ that operate alongside the ruling CCP, in the effort to provide a veneer of pluralism to the [Chinese] system.”

“Anyone who is a member of one of the ‘eight democratic parties’ should be understood as a CCP member, subject to Party directives, etcetera,” said Dotson, a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer.

The DCNF determined Wang’s CAPD membership through a review of multiple archived English and Chinese-language profiles.

For instance, an archived version of Wang’s 2022 bio on the University of Minnesota’s China Center website identified him as “one of the twenty-five members serving on the Central Civil and Judiciary Committee of China Association For Promoting Democracy, the third largest political party in mainland China.”

At some point between January and July 2023, Wang’s membership in the Chinese political party was removed from his China Center bio.

The China Center did not respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment.

CAPD’s Chinese-language website still names Wang as a member of its Central Civil and Judiciary Committee, and also identifies Wang as a professor of the Institute of Comparative Law at China University of Political Science and Law.

Wang is currently listed as faculty on the website of China University of Political Science and Law and his position at the school is noted in several online bios, including his Barnes & Noble author bio, as well as in a 2019 interview on his law firm’s website.

Wang also taught at São Paulo Law School in Brazil, where his online bio says “[s]ince 2007, he has been a member of Central Civil and Judiciary Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), the fourth largest political party in China.” Wang’s affiliation with the Brazilian law school are noted in social media posts from China University of Political Science and Law.

Indeed, Wang’s current bio on the University of Minnesota’s website states he “holds adjunct and visiting professorships at law schools and business schools in the U.S., China, Austria, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, and Brazil.” The bio, however, does not specify any particular schools with which he is associated.

‘National Advanced Information Worker’

The Chinese government has recognized Wang’s contributions on at least two occasions, the DCNF found.

CAPD awarded Wang the title “National Advanced Information Worker For Reflecting Societal Sentiments And The People’s Opinion” in November 2021 — more than a year after Walz first appointed Wang to the state Asian American affairs council in May 2020.

The list of award recipients appears to have been drafted in December 2020, but officially announced in 2021, according to a review of CAPD’s website.

CAPD created the award in order to commend “outstanding achievements and contributions” related to a 2021 CCP Central Committee memo directing China’s eight “democratic parties” to expand their implementation of “Xi Jinping Thought On Socialism With Chinese Characteristics For A New Era.”

The U.S. Department of Defense describes “Xi Jinping Thought” as the Chinese dictator’s “namesake ideology.”

In July 2021, the Chinese government’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate announced the selection of Wang’s legal research proposal on international cybercrime as a research project to underwrite. The announcement lists Wang by his CAPD membership and his faculty position at China University Of Political Science And Law.

The Supreme People’s Procuratorate offers selected research projects an approximately $7,000 Chinese government subsidy, the department’s website states.

The Procuratorate is responsible for legal supervision and prosecution in China, according to the Chinese government.

“What this entity in China does has some functions that touch upon the prosecution of people inside the Chinese system, and oversight of what would be rule-of-law type issues generally,” Yates told the DCNF.

Wang did not respond to the DCNF’s questions about the Procuratorate accepting his research proposal or the apparent award that went along with it.

‘Adjuncts Of The CCP’

In addition to cooperating with the CCP, CAPD also has several other Chinese government affiliations, such as serving as a “member of the patriotic United Front,” according to its website.

The United Front is a “unique blend of engagement, influence activities, and intelligence operations” that the CCP uses to “shape its political environment, including to influence other countries’ policy toward [China] and to gain access to advanced foreign technology,” according to the House Select Committee on the CCP.

CAPD members also serve as delegates to another Chinese government United Front agency called the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), according to the CPPCC’s website. The CPPCC’s English-language charter states its delegates must “uphold the leadership” of the CCP “and the socialist cause,” “take advantage of the CPPCC as a United Front organization,” and “keep state secrets.”

“In reality, these eight nominal political parties are simply adjuncts of the CCP, and serve as window dressing in fora such as the CPPCC,” Dotson said.

China expert and author Gordon Chang told the DCNF that Walz’s travels through China and his history associating with CCP-tied individuals raises the question of why the governor appointed a member of a CCP-approved political party to serve in Minnesota’s executive branch.

“Walz appointing a Chinese Communist stooge doesn’t automatically make him a Chinese Communist supporter,” Chang said, “but who other than a Chinese Communist supporter would do that?”

EXCLUSIVE: Don Jr., Trump Campaign Thrilled With How Much Better They Think Vance Has Been Than Walz

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign and his eldest son, Don Jr., say they are thrilled with Sen. J.D. Vance’s performance on the campaign trail in comparison to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, in exclusive conversations with the Daily Caller.

Trump Jr., who was one of the main forces behind Vance becoming his father’s running mate, explained to the Caller that people were “wrong” about Vance and said that he “understood the guy.” Trump Jr. and other campaign officials highlighted Vance’s media appearances, saying he is not scared to go against the liberal mainstream media, whereas Walz has continued to dodge questions from reporters on the campaign trail and has yet to sit down for a one-on-one interview since becoming the Democratic VP nominee.

“I’ve known him well and for a long time. I understand his talents. And I think every Sunday when I watch the Sunday shows or frankly, any other media, I am continually reaffirmed that me going all in for J.D. was 100% the right move,” Trump Jr. told the Caller. “But what’s also interesting is there’s plenty of people that were sort of, let’s just say, J.D. Vance, not necessarily fans or perhaps indifferent, who have since reached out to me knowing my push, knowing that they were probably pushing different directions who are straight up saying, ‘Don you are 100% right on that one. I got it wrong.’ And he’s absolutely kicking ass out on the campaign trail right now.”

Regarding other possible picks, Trump Jr. said that he believes the media would have treated whoever his father picked with disdain.

“I think the media would have done the attacks on everyone and anyone that Trump ever picked. That’s their job, as sort of the lapdog propagandists of the Democrat machine. I think they went particularly hard on J.D. But those hits just don’t fall well, because his backstory, his life story, as articulate as he is, the way he prosecutes the case,” he said. “J.D. does better in a hostile media territory than the very vast majority of Republicans do on even Fox News. And so the way he’s able to prosecute that case against the Democrats, the Harris-Biden regime, their failures, it’s just been incredible to watch.”

One of the main reasons Trump Jr. said he pushed for Vance was due to his support for the America First movement, which he said he thinks Vance can “keep going in an age beyond Trump.”

“So I think he’s just shown a level of commitment to the movement that’s amazing. I think you combine that with his other talents, his youth,” Trump Jr. told the Caller. “And my dad will be a part of this thing for hopefully a very long time. But we don’t have much of a bench on the conservative side, certainly not on the America First side that can actually play the game the way it needs to be played against the Democrats, who have just been steamrolling us for years. I think he’s one of those rare talents, on our side. So, I think I recognized that earlier than most, I think others are starting to finally get it now, and that’s great.”

“You can’t put Tim Walz and JD Vance in the same category for comparison. I mean it’s not even close,” Trump Jr. added.

Meanwhile, sources on the Trump campaign and National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt all echoed their support for Vance as Trump’s running mate and heavily criticized Walz, who has come under fire for signing legislation in favor of putting tampons in boys bathrooms, accusations of stolen valor and his history and relationship with China.

“Senator JD Vance honorably served our country in the US Marines and has truly lived the American Dream. He has proven to be a great asset to President Trump and our campaign as he barnstorms the country meeting with voters and owning the fake news media. Senator Vance certainly serves as a strong and sharp contrast to Weirdo Tim Walz, who has been one of the most radical liberal governors in the country and supports insane policies, like putting tampons in men’s bathrooms,” Leavitt told the Caller.

A senior Trump campaign official added that they are surprised Democrats have not found a way to replace Walz on their ticket, saying he is only hurting Democrats’ chance of defeating Trump.

“It’s shocking that the Democrats haven’t already done the rumored switcharoo on VP. Walz is terrible for their ticket. He came to the dance with a record of lies about his military resume, he can’t face the press without a babysitter, and despite being Governor of Minnesota, their ticket has actually lost ground in polling there since he was selected,” the senior Trump campaign official told the Caller.

Another Trump campaign official said Vance is “killing it” and has done a good job on the campaign trail.

“Besides President Trump himself, he’s the strongest advocate there is for President Trump’s policies. And unlike Kamala Harris, he’s willing to go into the lion’s den. He’ll go on Meet the Press, CNN, wherever, he’ll go do an interview, and he’ll take tough questions and he’ll come back with great answers and I think he’s been executing the case. and he’s been aggressively on the campaign trail. And we’re happy. He’s killing it,” the Trump campaign official said.

Longtime Republican strategist John Ashbrook told the Caller that Vance is “absolutely crushing it” and called Walz a phony.

“He refuses to let opposition dictate the terms of any debate and clearly delivers a message about fixing our economy and securing our border. It was very smart of President Trump to elevate the voice of a poor kid from Middletown, Ohio, who echoes the sentiments of the overlooked millions he fights for every day,” Ashbrook said. “And he offers a stark authenticity contrast with Tim Walz who’s spent his lengthy political career pretending to be something he’s not.”

‘Witness Protection’: Media-Friendly Tim Walz Has Disappeared From Airwaves Since Joining Harris Ticket

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz rose to prominence by making the rounds in mainstream media interviews, but since being named Kamala Harris’s running mate, the “folksy”, “midwestern dad” has been missing from the airwaves.

From July 22 to Aug. 6, about two weeks before he was added to the ticket, Walz appeared on MSNBC, PBS, CNN and Fox News a total of ten times, an analysis by Newsbusters’ Curtis Houck, shared with the Daily Caller, showed. Since Harris chose Walz as her running mate on Aug. 6, the governor has not appeared on the networks he flocked to during the vetting process, according to Houck’s analysis.

“It’s no surprise that Tim Walz has gone into the witness protection program first started by the Biden-Harris 2020 campaign after blanketing the liberal cable networks during the vetting process to show Kamala Harris his loyalty to her,” Houck told the Caller.

“Between July 23 and August 6, he appeared on CNN and MSNBC at least seven times, with an additional hit on taxpayer-funded PBS. Morning and evening, Walz made sure Harris and her team saw him at all hours of the day. Importantly, none came after July 30 as the vetting intensified and Harris conducted final round interviews,” he continued.

The shift is a jarring departure from Walz’s pre-nomination media blitz, which skyrocketed him into liberal stardom and separated him from the other contenders in the VP sweepstakes.

Walz has done one tv appearance since being named Harris’ running mate; his joint interview on CNN alongside the vice president. Over the first month of her presidential campaign, Harris faced scrutiny for a lack of unscripted moments. The pressure forced Harris to commit to setting up an interview by the end of August, though rather than doing a one-on-one sit-down, she brought Walz along.

Neither Harris nor Walz have held a press conference since beginning their run, only taking a few questions from reporters in gaggles when on the road.

While Harris and Walz have done one media appearance together, Senator J.D. Vance has done 94 interviews, press conferences and gaggles with the media since Trump named him his running mate on July 15, according to Axios. In the month of August, Vance did all five major Sunday shows, the outlet reported.

“Tim Walz is in hiding, just like Kamala Harris, because Harris is a San Francisco liberal desperately pretending not to be one, and no one trusts Walz to remember every part of the fictional record the campaign staff has created for both of them. They are both radical leftists, whose policies would only send the American economy into a deeper and faster spiral, and the last thing they want anyone to do is answer questions about anything,” Tim Murtaugh, senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told the Caller.

“Walz has lied about so much that they have no idea what piece of his embellished life story he’ll roll out next. Next thing you know he’ll claim to have quarterbacked the Minnesota Vikings to the Super Bowl while simultaneously serving in Afghanistan,” he added.

Before Walz was shielded from mainstream media appearances, the governor was going viral for his line of attack on Republicans. During his July 23 hit with MSNBC, Walz deemed Vance, Trump and other Republicans “weird,” a message that would prove to be a bit troublesome for Vance as he started to hit the campaign trail.

“Walz sat with incredibly friendly liberal journalists who saw no problem in helping Walz advance his case, including his astroturfed insult against former President Trump, Senator Vance and the Republican ticket as being ‘weird.’ The moniker kept Walz in the minds of liberal journalists like star-crossed lovers being unable to think of anything else after laying eyes on each other. Why? He said exactly how they feel about conservatives,” Houck told the Caller.

Scott Jenningsa longtime GOP adviser in Kentucky and veteran of numerous campaigns, told the Caller that the Harris campaign must have judged Walz as a risk to the operation and chose to sideline him as a result.

“They’ve obviously judged him to be a huge risk. His limited engagement on the CNN sit-down was ridiculously bad,” Jennings told the Caller.

After Harris named Walz her running mate, the Minnesota governor has been caught in several lies, including some about his service record.

The Harris campaign unknowingly began the unraveling of Walz’s military story after unearthing a 2018 video of the governor pushing for gun control, saying that “those weapons of war, that I carried in war” should stay only in combat. Social media users were quick to point out despite Walz’s statement, he never saw war.

Veterans in Walz’s unit previously accused him during his run for office in 2018 of retiring from the National Guard to run for Congress once it was revealed that he would be deployed to Iraq. Vance has lobbed attacks at Walz on the campaign trail, questioning why Americans should trust a guy who lied about his military record.

Veteran who knew Walz unloads on him on the @MegynKellyShow: “He’s not brave, I call him a coward because he is” pic.twitter.com/efGKk1fHjm

The Minnesota Governor is also the subject of a congressional investigation relating to his ties to the Chinese government. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray to request all documents relating to any Chinese entities that the now-governor may have interacted with while on his dozens of trips to China.

Lies aside, Jennings told the Caller that another reason for sidelining Walz could be because he would be pressed about a policy platform Harris is yet to define. More than a month into her campaign, Harris has only unveiled her economic policy and has yet to put a platform on her website. The Trump campaign, by contrast, features the Republican National Committee’s platform as its own.

“In his defense, she has no idea what her positions are so how could he be expected to know anything?” Jennings said.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Totally Silent’: Donald Trump Jr. Says Media Won’t Give Walz Family The Mary Trump Treatment

Donald Trump Jr. explained he does not believe the media will cover that several members of Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s family, including his own brother, are reportedly supporting his rival, former President Donald Trump, in an exclusive Wednesday interview with the Daily Caller.

A photo circulated the internet earlier in the day of eight people reportedly related to the Democratic Vice President nominee Walz, all wearing “Walz for Trump” shirts. They were all also standing in front of a “Trump 2024,  Take America Back” flag. The Caller asked Trump Jr. about the photo and if he thinks it will make a difference in the election, to which the former president’s eldest son said he believes the media will be “totally silent” on the issue. He compared it to his father’s niece, Mary Trump, who has been an outspoken critic of his father, but who Trump Jr. says he has seen once in 25 years for a brief period of time.

The photo was originally shared by a friend of the family, then posted by former Republican Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster, Newsweek reported.

“It’s interesting how the media is totally silent on that. They made Mary Trump into the biggest Trump family, like ‘knowledgeable person.’ This is someone I literally think I’ve seen her once in 25 years and that was at my aunt’s birthday party at the white House for like 90 minutes, maybe two hours. Somewhere in the middle of my father’s presidency. I hadn’t seen her since I was probably early teens prior to that. But they put her on TV as the most knowledgeable person on the Trump family. We’ve never even seen this person in years. It’s just part of the grift,” Trump Jr. told the Caller.

Mary Trump published a book about Trump calling him “the World’s Most Dangerous Man” and has continued to criticize him throughout his presidency. She has accused Trump of using racist slurs and more, something he has continued to deny. In September 2021, Trump filed a $100 million lawsuit against The New York Times and Mary Trump, alleging his confidential tax documents were shared improperly and that his niece was pressured into sharing the information.

Walz has come under fire for signing legislation in favor of putting tampons in boys bathrooms, accusations of stolen valor regarding him claiming to have served in combat and his history and relationship with China. These were just some of the issues Trump Jr. mentioned to the Caller regarding the VP nominee.

“So I hope the media gives them as much attention as they gave Trump family members that didn’t like my father or were willing to lie about him or whatever it may be. That won’t actually happen. But if by the media’s own rules, we should take everything that they say into great consideration,” he continued. “And frankly, based on the rest of Tim Walz’s policies, based on the way he let his home state burn to the ground, based on the prioritization of putting tampons in boys bathrooms, based on his stolen valor and continued lies about all of this, the guy doesn’t seem like a good guy.”

The former president’s son went after Walz and the coverage he and his campaign have been receiving.

“It doesn’t seem like someone you’d ever want in charge of anything, let alone potentially the presidency of the United States. But again, it’s easy to get away with being a liar and a scumbag if you’re a Democrat and you have the media propaganda machine doing all your boosting for you,” Trump Jr. added.

‘Putting In The Work’: Republicans View JD Vance As Invaluable Asset As Campaign Enters Home Stretch

Republicans believe former President Donald Trump made the right choice in picking Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance to be his running mate as the campaign enters the fourth quarter of the election season.

Through the final weeks of August, Vance has spent his time on the campaign trail, sparring with hostile media and drawing contrast to Vice President Kamala Harris as she dodges the media. Prior though, Vance was fighting a barrage of Democratic attacks that branded him as “weird” for past statements.

Republicans and campaign officials expressed satisfaction with Vance’s performance in conversations with the Daily Caller.

“J.D. Vance is doing what Vice President picks are supposed to do, which is aggressively make the case in the Earned Media, which is the press, the entire political world is saying, not Where’s Waldo, but where’s Walz. He’s not out there making the case in the press the way VP candidates are expected to do,” GOP strategist Mark R. Weaver told the Daily Caller.

After Trump chose Vance as his running mate, Democrats unearthed comments from a Fox News interview and a July 2021 speech about “childless cat ladies” and women who didn’t have children. Vance faced many questions about the comments, including in interviews with NBC and CNN.

Democrats used the comments alongside debunked rumors to brand Vance as “weird” — a line of attack CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said was hurting the vice presidential candidate’s favorability.

Amidst the rocky start, Trump downplayed the importance of the vice president — a comment that pundits and social media users believed indicated je wasn’t thrilled with his pick.

“Of course he is. I wouldn’t have chosen him for my ticket if I wasn’t certain he could assume the presidency in the event of a crisis,” Trump began.

“Historically, the vice president, in terms of the election, does not have any impact,” he continued. “I mean, virtually no impact.”

But since Vance’s battle with hostile media, Shermichael Singleton told the Daily Caller that the senator has found his footing.

“People forget this, J.D. Vance has only recently been elected to the United States Senate. This is not someone with multiple terms of political experience. And I don’t say that as a negative. I said that to say that a lot of people were saying, well, he’s floundering here, or he should be doing this, or he’s not doing that, or some of the comments, etc, you have to give someone an opportunity to kind of warm up to this,” Singleton, a GOP strategist, told the Caller.

But it wasn’t long before Vance hit a turning point when he used a question about his past comments to pivot to attack Harris.

“You’ve now asked me three questions about comments that I made three years ago,” Vance said. “I wonder what Kamala Harris thinks about the fact that she supported policies that open the American Southern border. I wonder what Kamala Harris thinks about Joe Biden’s mental faculty for the office.”

“I’m interviewing you,” Bash replied. “Not Kamala Harris.”

“You are interviewing me, Dana, because I respect the American people enough to sit down for an interview,” Vance quipped. “Kamala Harris has been the nominee for three weeks. She hasn’t sat down for a real interview.”

“I sort of always expected that the guy would eventually get into the zone, and he’s found his footing, and he appears to be more confident and more comfortable. I think one thing I would like to see more of as he has been making the case on the issues, which I think is strong,” Singleton told the Caller.

One week before, Vance had wooed Republicans after landing in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, just after Harris arrived on Air Force Two. The senator walked across the tarmac to the vice presidential plane where he spoke to reporters that Harris had ignored just moments before.

Vance used the moment to highlight how Harris was yet to do a sit-down interview, give a press conference or meaningfully interact with reporters.

“J.D. Vance is fearless and he clearly gets the better of his exchanges with the media, because they come at him aggressively and he knocks down their attacks with precision,” Tim Murtaugh, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told the Caller.  “He’s a great asset to the campaign and to President Trump. That’s exactly why the Democrats tried — and failed — to damage him with outrageous lies, because he’s so effective.”

Vance, the campaign officials told the Caller, draws stark contrast to Harris’ chosen running mate, Gov. Tim Walz.

Since joining Harris on the Democratic ticket, Walz has been caught in several lies, including some about his service record.

Walz’s military story unraveled after the Harris campaign itself unearthed a 2018 video of the governor pushing for gun control, saying that “those weapons of war, that I carried in war” should stay only in combat. Social media users were quick to point out that there was a problem with Walz’s statement — he never saw war.

Veterans part of Walz’s unit during his time in service had previously accused him in 2018 of retiring from the Guard to run for Congress once it was revealed that he would be deployed to Iraq. Vance has used the lie to hit Walz before he meets him on the debate stage, questioning why Americans should trust a guy who lied about his military record.

Walz also recently became the subject of a Congressional investigation into his ties to China. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting all documents relating to any Chinese entities that the now-governor may have interacted with while on his dozens of trips to China.

“J.D. Vance has proven to be a great asset to President Trump’s campaign,” Karoline Leavitt, Trump national press secretary, told the Caller.

“J.D. is authentic, relatable and unafraid to debate the issues as evidenced by his frequent sit-down interviews with hostile press. Meanwhile, Tampon Tim Walz is a radical liberal who lacks credibility and has turned out to be a huge liability for the Harris campaign as more and more of his egregious lies have come to light,” she continued.

Other Vance quips have gained traction in recent weeks as Harris and Walz have been repeatedly pushed to engage with the media and answer questions about policy.

During a recent rally, an audience member asked the potential vice president where his teleprompter was.

“Ma’am, I don’t need a teleprompter. I’ve actually got thoughts in my head, unlike Kamala Harris,” Vance replied.

Vance took another swipe at Harris after liberal media outlets criticized Trump for a wreath-laying ceremony honoring the 13 service members killed in the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, as a politicized event. Harris and President Joe Biden put out statements honoring the fallen soldiers, but neither had any public events scheduled to recognize the Gold Star families.

“Kamala Harris is disgraceful,” Vance said of Harris’s lack of recognition for the families. “We’re going to talk about a story out of those 13 brave, innocent Americans who lost their lives, it’s that Kamala Harris is so asleep at the wheel that she won’t even do an investigation into what happened, and she wants to yell at Donald Trump because he showed up. She can go to hell.”

Two months out from election day, Republicans have found Vance to be the perfect match for Trump on the campaign trail.

“Senator Vance is a natural complement to President Trump, and his American Dream story is resonating well with voters in the Rust Belt who feel left behind by the Biden-Harris administration,” Trump surrogate Harrison Fields told the Caller.

Dem Defending Walz’s Military Record Has His Own History Of Claiming Honor He Never Earned

Democratic Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland falsely claimed on an application to have been awarded a Bronze Star Medal for his Army service in Afghanistan in 2006, according to The New York Times.

Moore claimed to have received the honor on a White House fellowship application in 2006, and has failed to correct television hosts who have wrongly introduced him as a recipient of the award in the past, the New York Times reported. Moore, who has also defended Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz amid his accusations of stolen valor, called the discrepancy an “honest mistake” and expressed regret for not correcting his application, according to a statement from Thursday.

“I was encouraged to fill out an application for the White House Fellowship by my deputy brigade commander,” Moore said in a statement. “In fact, he helped me edit it before I sent it in. At the time, he had recommended me for the Bronze Star. He told me to include the Bronze Star award on my application after confirming with two other senior-level officers that they had also signed off on the commendation.”

“Still, I sincerely wish I had gone back to correct the note on my application,” Moore continued. “It was an honest mistake, and I regret not making that correction.”

Moore had not received either the Bronze Star or the Combat Army Badge at the time that he submitted his application in January of 2006, the New York Times confirmed. He was eventually awarded the Combat Army Badge in May 2006, but there is no record of him ever receiving a Bronze Star.

“Over the last few weeks, our country has grown used to seeing what it looks like when a veteran’s integrity is attacked for political gain,” Moore said in the statement. “But those who seek to cast doubt on our records misunderstand something fundamental about true patriots, who have put on the flag of our country and put everything on the line to be called Americans: We don’t get shaken. We put our heads down, and we do the work. And that is what I will continue to do.”

Moore also defended another prominent Democrat who had his military record questioned. Just days after Vice President Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, his statements about his military service in the National Guard were called into question.

Walz previously advocated for a ban on “weapons of war” that he said he “carried in war,” according to a video posted by Harris’ campaign on X. However, Walz never actually went into combat and reportedly retired from the Minnesota National Guard in 2005 shortly after he learned that his unit was being deployed to Iraq.

Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, former President Donald Trump’s running mate, called out this discrepancy and claimed that Walz “abandoned” his unit.

“Well I wonder, Tim Walz, when were you ever in war?” Vance said during a campaign event. “What was this weapon that you carried into war given that you abandoned your unit right before they went to Iraq and he has not spent a day in a combat zone? What bothers me about Tim Walz is the stolen valor garbage.”

Moore responded to Vance and defended Walz in an August MSNBC interview, saying that anyone who has served the country “deserves our utmost respect.”

“You don’t get to sergeant major just because,” Moore said in the interview. “You get to sergeant major because you’ve served this country.”

VIDEO: Harris Fails To Explain Flip-Flops, Says She Has No Regrets About Biden In First Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris stepped out of the shadows for her first sit-down interview since launching her campaign Thursday, in which she failed to explain why her aides have reversed several of her policy stances and reflected on her time serving with President Joe Biden.

More than a month after becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee, Harris’ campaign finally agreed for her sit for an interview with CNN accompanied by her running mate Gov. Tim Walz. In an interview just under half an hour, Harris and Walz answered questions about the governor’s military service lies and Harris’s flip-flops since her last run for president.

CNN’s Dana Bash opened the interview by asking Harris what she would accomplish on day one should she win the presidential election. After Harris told Bash she would “strengthen the middle class” and kicked it to Walz to provide his insight, the CNN host doubled down.

“So you have been vice president for three and a half years, the steps that you’re talking about now, why haven’t you done them already?” Bash asked.

“Well, first of all, we had to recover as an economy, and we have done that. I’m very proud of the work that we have done that has brought inflation down to less than 3%, the work that we have done to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors. Donald Trump said he was going to do a number of things, including allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Never happened. We did it,” Harris said.

Bash moved on to ask Harris about a series of flip-flops her campaign aides had made on behalf of the vice president.

“When you were in Congress, you supported the green New Deal, and in 2019 you said, quote, ‘There is no question, I’m in favor of banning fracking.’ Fracking, as you know, is a pretty big issue, particularly in your must win state of Pennsylvania. Do you still want to ban fracking?” Bash asked.

Harris first told the CNN host that she no longer wanted to ban fracking and that she had made that clear in 2020. Bash pointed out that Harris had previously said in a 2019 town hall that she did in fact want to ban fracking. The CNN host proceeded to ask the vice president why she wanted to change her 2019 position during 2020.

Bash also hit Harris for her role overseeing the border crisis during her time as vice president. Harris was asked if she still believes border crossings should be decriminalized, a position she took during her 2019 campaign. She did not directly answer the question, simply stating that she believes in “consequence” and that “we have laws that have to be followed and enforced”

Amid the flip-flops within the interview, Bash asked the vice president how she expected the American people to interpret her policy platform — which still is not defined on her campaign website.

“Generally speaking, how should voters look at some of the changes that you’ve made that you explained some of here in your policy? Is it because you have more experience now and you’ve learned more about the information? Is it because you were running for president in a Democratic primary, and should they feel comfortable that what you’re saying now is going to be your policy moving forward?

“I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is that my values have not changed,” Harris began. “You mentioned the green New Deal. I have always believed, and I have worked on it, that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time. We did that with the inflation Reduction Act. We have set goals for the United States of America, and by extension, the globe around when we should meet certain standards for reducing house gas emissions, as an example, that value has not changed.”

CNN also dove into Biden’s disastrous debate performance which put in motion the effort to oust the president and replace him with Harris. After Biden stumbled through a June 27 debate performance against Trump, Democrats sounded the alarm on the 81-year-old’s fitness for office and ability to be president for a second term. Amid the post-debate hysteria, Harris took to CNN to defend the president’s health and mental acuity.

“Do you have any regrets about what you told the American people [about Biden’s health]?” Bash asked.

“Not at all,” Harris responded, explaining Biden’s loyalty towards the American people.

The interview did not entirely focus on Harris. After sitting quietly for the first half of the interview, Walz took questions about his series of lies, including about his military record.

Walz’s military record previously came under fire after the Harris campaign shared a 2018 video of the potential vice president pushing for gun control, saying that “those weapons of war, that I carried in war” should stay only in combat. The governor, however, never saw combat.

Bash pushed Walz to explain if he misspoke twice.

“I said we were talking about, in this case, this was after a school shooting. The ideas of carrying these weapons of war and my wife, the English teacher, tells me my grammar is not always correct, but again, if it’s not this, it’s an attack on my children for showing love for me, or it’s an attack on my dog, I’m not going to do that. And the one thing I’ll never do is I’ll never demean another member’s service in any way. I never have. I never will,” the governor said.

Walz was also caught lying about he and his wife using in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments to help start a family, as well as a past DUI.

“You had to clarify that you had said that you and your wife used IVF, but it turned out you used a different kind of fertility in order to have children. And then, when you ran for Congress in 2006 to campaign, you repeatedly made false statements about a 1995 arrest for drunken reckless driving. What do you say to voters who aren’t sure whether they can take you at your word?” Bash asked.

Walz began his answer telling Bash he had former students and veterans who served with him who can vouch for his character. The governor then pivoted to talk about he and Harris’s opponents.

“I certainly own my mistakes when I make them. The one thing I’ll tell you is I wished in this country we wouldn’t have to do this. I spoke about our infertility issues, because it’s hell, and families know this. And I spoke about the treatments that were available to us, that had beautiful children there. That’s quite a contrast in folks that are trying to take those rights away from us,” Walz began.

“And so I think people know who I am. They know that record. They’ve seen that I’ve taught thousands of students. I’ve been out there, and I won’t apologize for speaking passionately, whether it’s guns in schools or protecting reproductive rights, the contrast could not be clear between what we’re running against,” he continued.

Speaking for less than thirty minutes, Harris and Walz left more to be answered for on what their campaign stands for, but for some, it was at least somewhat satisfying.

“Maybe she didn’t score a touchdown tonight, but she moved the ball down the field,” Ashley Allison, former national coalitions director for Biden-Harris 2020 campaign, said afterwards on CNN.

EXCLUSIVE: Tim Walz Has A History Of Rubbing Elbows With Nonprofit Linked To Chinese Intel And Influence Agency

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, has a long history of attending events organized by members of a nonprofit with connections to a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influence and intelligence agency, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.

Since 2018, Walz has attended multiple events hosted by members of the Chinese American Association of Minnesota (CAAM) and related organizations, including one 2022 fundraiser for his gubernatorial campaign, according to a DCNF review of dozens of Chinese government announcements, Chinese-language news reports and social media posts.

Other media have detailed self-declared progressive Walz’s long-standing relationships with entities connected to Islamic extremism as well.

Since 2016, CAAM and another local nonprofit have been hosting the St. Paul branch of the “Overseas Chinese Service Center” (OCSC) program, which is a global network of institutions overseen by the Chinese government’s United Front Work Department (UFWD), the DCNF previously reported.

Among other things, the UFWD “collects intelligence, exerts control over overseas Chinese-language media outlets, seeks to influence Chinese diaspora groups, facilitates illicit technology transfer, and interferes in politics in other countries,” according to the House Select Committee on the CCP.

On at least one occasion, a member of the St. Paul, Minnesota OCSC also took part in meetings and training sessions organized by China’s national police authority, the DCNF found. The DCNF has reported on other Chinese government-linked operations, including a June 2024 investigation detailing how an online network run by a self-identified Chinese “cyber police” officer provides Chinese illegal immigrants with resources to get into the U.S. and evade border authorities.

CAAM did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee’s dozens of trips to China as an educator have come under intense scrutiny from China hawks and Republican lawmakers like Kentucky Rep. James Comer, who recently sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting information pertaining to “any Chinese entity or individual with whom Mr. Walz may have engaged or partnered.”
