Trump Ties With Biden In Longtime Blue State A Week After Bragg Guilty Verdict, Poll Shows

Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in Virginia just one week after he was convicted, a new poll reveals.

Last week, Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the case brought forth by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Despite this, Trump maintains his lead in FloridaArizona and Nevada, and ties with Biden with 48% in historically blue Virginia, according to a recent Fox News poll that surveyed voters following Trump’s conviction on May 31.

The last time Virginia voted for a Republican presidential candidate was for former President George W. Bush in 2004. Trump lost in Virginia in 2016 and in 2020 against former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Biden respectively.

Following his guilty verdict, Trump’s campaign donation page crashed within minutes of reaching the guilty verdict. Within a day, the Trump campaign announced a record breaking $34.8 million from small dollar donors. Along with his record breaking cash flow, Trump managed to maintain his lead in crucial states.

In Florida, Trump is leading Biden in a two-way race by four points, polling at 50.6% while Biden trails behind at 42%, according to a RealClear Polling (RCP) average. In a five-way race with Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr and Cornel West, Trump’s lead grows to 10 points at 48% while Biden polls at 37.5%.

Trump won Florida in both 2016 and 2020, but by a slim margin. In 2016, Trump won the sunshine state by a little over 1%, and in 2020 he kept the state red by a little over 3.3%. His lead in the upcoming election gives Trump a slightly larger advantage.

Trump continues polling ahead of Biden by roughly four points in Arizona, leading with 48.3% compared to Biden at 44.1%, the RCP average shows. In a five-way race, Trump has a roughly five point advantage with 43.8% and Biden at 38.2%, marking a significant advantage for the former president compared to Biden’s razor thin margin in the 2020 election.

In 2016, Trump narrowly won Arizona but lost Nevada to Clinton. In the following 2020 cycle, Trump lost both Arizona and Nevada to Biden. Going into 2024, Trump’s leads.

Trump is also ahead of Biden by roughly five points in Nevada, where he is polling at 48.3% while Biden polls at 43%, according to RCP. In 2020, Biden won Nevada by less than three percentage points, while Trump has consistently led the state in 2024. Taking into account third-party candidates, Trump maintains a 6 point lead at 42.5% with Biden at 35.7%.

The Fox Virginia poll surveyed 1,107 registered voters and had a three point margin of error.

Michael Cohen Admits On Witness Stand He Stole From Trump Organization

Michael Cohen admitted on the witness stand Monday that he stole from the Trump Organization, according to multiple reports.

Cohen testified Monday that he lied to former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg in 2017 about how much he needed to be reimbursed for a payment to the tech company RedFinch. While he asked for $50,000, Cohen testified that he only gave the company $20,000.

“You stole from the Trump Organization, correct?” Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche asked, according to ABC News.

“Yes, sir,” Cohen replied.

Cohen asked for reimbursement for the tech company payment alongside the $130,000 payment he made ahead of the 2016 election for a nondisclosure agreement with Stormy Daniels, which is at the heart of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump.

Trump was charged with 34 counts for allegedly falsifying business records to reimburse Cohen for the Daniels’ payment through monthly installments of $35,000, labeled as payment for “legal services.”

Cohen is the only witness who has testified to Trump’s direct involvement in the payments. He testified last week that Trump approved of the plan to reimburse him, affirming that Weisselberg stated it in front of Trump and said Cohen would receive a total of $420,000 over 12 months.

Defense attorneys accused Cohen of lying at a key point of his testimony Thursday, presenting text messages that showed a call he placed to Trump’s bodyguard Keith Schiller had a different purpose that Cohen claimed. Cohen stated he made the Oct. 24, 2016 call to discuss the Stormy Daniels matter with Trump, but Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche argued the messages Cohen actually talked to Schiller about handling harrassing calls he was receiving from a 14-year-old.

George Washington Law professor Jonathan Turley wrote on X that Blanche’s hits were “below the waterline for Cohen but also the prosecutors” who allowed Cohen to keep the “stolen money.”

“They had a man admitting to a major larceny but never charged Cohen,” Turley said.

One Of Trump-World’s Favorite Lawyers Hatched Playbook With House GOP On Ending Biden Lawfare Against Trump

One of former President Donald Trump’s biggest legal defenders and advisers, Mike Davis, held a meeting last Wednesday with a select group of House Republicans to discuss ways to fight back against President Joe Biden’s lawfare against Trump, the Daily Caller has learned.

Davis, founder and president of the Article III Project, met with lawmakers from the House Conservative Opportunity Society, which is chaired by Republican South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman. The group does not share how many members it has or when it holds meetings, which are off the record with no staff or media present.

Davis was asked to speak to the group about Trump’s ongoing legal battles and ways House Republicans can help the former President from Congress. Davis told the Caller that there were over a dozen members present for the meeting, which took place the morning of May 1 at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington D.C.

“I want to maintain the privacy of the discussions the members of COS had with Mr. Davis, but I can say it was a productive meeting,” Norman told the Caller. “On the matter of why House Republicans are rallying around President Trump, I see it as a very simple choice. This race is between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, that’s an easy decision for me and many of my colleagues. It’s a decision between how we’ve been living under the Biden admin the past 3 years versus the freedoms we had under the Trump admin.”

“Between the inflated prices we’ve seen recently versus four years ago. Between crime-riddled cities and illegal immigrants running rampant versus a secure border and safer cities. Republicans can see the stark difference between what these two administrations provided for the American people and are choosing to side with President Trump,” he added.

Davis would not divulge which members attended the meeting, but said that the group is eager to fight for Trump.

“There were quite a few House Republicans and I briefed them in detail about the Biden Democrats’ lawfare and election interference. [I] equipped them with information and motivation to fight back. I called them the ‘tip of the spear in the House’ for the counter offensive in Biden’s lawfare against Trump,” Davis said.

Davis added there were more than a dozen Republican House members present.

Republican Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett confirmed to the Caller he attended the meeting, and said Davis did a great job explaining how one-sided the cases are against Trump.

“Mike is a smart guy with solid conservative values. When he spoke to us about these lawfare issues, he laid out a very clear and concise argument for why the justice system is against President Trump and how the cards are stacked against him,” Burchett told the Caller.

Illinois Republican Rep. Mary Miller was also in the room, the Caller confirmed. She claimed the Biden DOJ is silencing political opponents that Davis is key to fighting back.

“Mike Davis’s passion to fight and to hold corrupt left-wing judges accountable for their unconstitutional actions comes at a critical time when Joe Biden’s Department of Justice is attempting to silence Biden’s political opponents,” Miller said. “The Left is weaponizing the judicial system, and Mike is fighting to preserve the freedoms our Constitutional Republic guarantees the American taxpayer.”

Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs also confirmed he was in the meeting, saying he is grateful for Norman and the Conservative Opportunity Society for hosting Davis and slamming the prosecution of Trump.

“The hyperpolitical lawfare being waged against President Trump stands opposed to everything that America was founded on. House Republicans should not remain silent in the face of such blatant partisan prosecution. We ought to use the tools the Constitution has given us to check the Biden regime’s attack on President Trump and conservatives across the country. I am thankful to Chairman Norman and the Conservative Opportunity Society for hosting Mr. Davis to discuss such a crucial topic,” Biggs told the Caller.

Davis went on to say that the main goal was to help pressure House leadership to do everything in their power to defend Trump.

“Their goal was to help steel the spines of the House Republican leadership, the House judiciary leadership, and the rest of the House Republican Conference.”

“There is a leadership void in the House on this Biden lawfare and election interference against Trump and that leadership void was supposed to be filled by the the House Judiciary Committee, including the weaponization subcommittee, and so far it hasn’t been,” Davis said. “The point of this meeting with the Conservative Opportunity Society was to get these most bold and fearless House members, to get the House Judiciary Committee, including the weaponization Committee, to step up and do their jobs,” Davis added.

Here Is What We Know About The Twelve Jurors Selected For Trump Trial

All twelve jurors have been selected for former President Donald Trump’s trial relating to Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s allegations he falsified business records to hide a payment to pornstar Stormy Daniels.

The jurors include an investment banker, a security engineer with three children, a retired man from Lebanon who enjoys fly fishing, a speech therapist, a worker at an eyewear company, a woman from California who works in product development and a physical therapist, according to Politico. The panel is comprised of seven men and five women, according to NBC News.

The seven jurors sworn in Thursday join five who were selected on Tuesday, completing the panel that will weigh Bragg’s 34 count indictment against the former president. Six additional jurors are needed to serve as alternates, and Judge Juan Merchan said he is “hopeful” that selection will finish tomorrow, according to NBC News.

One alternate has already been selected, according to multiple reports. The alternate is a female asset manager who “likes to run, hang out with her friends and eat,” according to NBC News.

The jury’s foreperson, selected Tuesday, works in sales and is originally from Ireland, according to Politico. He’s married, likes “anything outdoorsy,” lives in West Harlem and reads The New York Times, Fox News and MSNBC, according to NBC News.

The second juror is a married investment banker who says he follows Trump’s posts on Truth Social, according to NBC News.

The third juror is a young corporate law attorney from Oregon who lives in Chelsea. He’s unmarried and says he gets news from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Google, according to CNN.

The fourth juror has three children and likes woodworking and metalworking, according to NBC. He’s a security engineer without any social media accounts, according to CNN.

The fifth juror is a young, female English teacher who lives with her boyfriend in Harlem, according to NBC News.

The sixth juror is a recent college graduate who works as a software engineer. She lives in Chelsea with three roommates and does not have strong feelings about Trump, according to CNN.

The seventh juror is a civil litigation attorney from North Carolina who lives on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. He has two kids and is married, according to CNN.

The eighth juror has two kids and used to be a wealth manager. He’s retired now and enjoys hobbies that include skiing, fly fishing and yoga, according to NBC News.

The ninth juror is an unmarried woman who lives alone, works as a speech therapist and said she likes reality TV podcasts, according to CNN.

The tenth juror, originally from Ohio, works in commerce and enjoys podcasts on behavioral psychology, according to CNN.

The eleventh juror, who Trump tried to remove after she said she did not like his “persona,” is a product development manager, according to CNN.

The twelfth juror is a female physical therapist who listens to sports and faith-based podcasts, according to NBC News.

Seven jurors were initially selected on Tuesday, though two were released earlier Thursday, according to reports. One said she did not believe she could be impartial after friends and colleagues asked her if she was a juror. Another was dismissed after prosecutors questioned the truthfulness of his answer on the jury selection questions.

Merchan directed the media Thursday not to report physical details about jurors or information about their employers.

Donald Trump Appeals New York Civil Fraud Trial Verdict

Former President Donald Trump has appealed a verdict by the New York Supreme Court that found him guilty of civil fraud and fined hundreds of millions of dollars.

Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, was ordered to pay the State of New York approximately $355 million on Feb. 16, a figure that was revised to $454 million, according to Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of New York, whose office sued Trump in the case. On Monday, Trump filed a notice of appeal with the New York Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, seeking to overturn the verdict.

“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT…Defendants President Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, Allen Weisselberg, Jeffrey McConney, the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, the Trump Organization, Inc….hereby appeal to the Appellate Division, First Department, from the Decision,” wrote Trump’s attorneys in the notice of appeal. The trial verdict was issued by Justice Arthur F. Engoron of the New York Supreme Court’s Trial Decision, who had been previously criticized by Trump while presiding over the case.

James later claimed that the actual amount Trump was required to pay was $464 million. Trump’s net worth is currently $2.6 billion, according to Forbes, with most of his wealth comprising the ownership of properties in New York City, such as Trump Tower.

The verdict in the case was handed down after a trial beginning on Oct. 2 that was attended several times by Trump. He later testified in the trial in a chaotic session that saw Engoron chide him multiple times to conform to the court’s rules, though was later allowed to deliver his testimony without interruption.

“The fraud is on the court, not on me,” Trump said, according to CNN. “This is not a political rally,” Engoron responded to Trump’s attacks while on the stand.

The verdict and subsequent appeal is one of many civil and criminal proceedings that implicate Trump. He is presently under indictment on dozens of state felony charges in New York City and Miami — regarding allegedly falsified business records and his possession of highly classified documents after leaving office — as well as in Washington, D.C., and Fulton County, Georgia, which concern his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Additionally, Trump is currently involved in litigation at the Supreme Court of the United States regarding the decisions of state authorities in Colorado and Maine to disqualify him from the ballot in the 2024 presidential election, based on Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment, and is petitioning the court for a writ of certiorari regarding his Washington, D.C. indictment to claim constitutional immunity from prosecution.

Furthermore, Trump was ordered to pay $83 million to E. Jean Carroll as damages for defamation following his criticism of her after she successfully sued him for an alleged sexual assault in the 1990s, where he was ordered to pay her $5 million.

The New York Attorney General’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

‘It Ruins Their Case’: Attorney Reveals Why New York Judge Tried To Hush Trump During Testimony

A legal spokesperson for former President Donald Trump said that the judge in Trump’s civil fraud trial was trying to hush the former president because Trump’s explanations wrecked the case against him.

Trump and attorney Alina Habba clashed with Judge Arthur F. Engoron during the former president’s testimony Monday, with the judge threatening to remove Trump from the courtroom. Engoron ruled that Trump was liable for fraud Sept. 26, and ordered that several business licenses Trump held were to be rescinded, but an appeals court ruling stayed the order Oct. 6.

“There was a fiery exchange with the judge,” Habba told Fox Business host Larry Kudlow. “Frankly, I can’t even say it was with the judge and I… I’m very polite, I’m very professional when I’m in the courtroom, but the judge did not like him finishing or explaining because it wasn’t good for his case. He is interfering. He made his decision, let’s not forget that, Larry. He made a decision on summary judgment. He found liability already.”

WATCH:

Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of New York sued Trump in September 2022, alleging he overstated the value of real estate holdings in order to obtain loans.

“We’re wasting all this time, and he won’t even let the president, who is the person they’re trying to get to, explain why he certified to certain values,” Habba said. “Why? Because the minute he starts to explain it, it ruins their case. He was worth more than his statement of financial conditions, and Miss James, her politics are not allowing to backtrack. She needs a PR team, I’m telling you.”

Real-estate experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Engoron’s ruling greatly undervalued Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate owned by Trump, which some considered to be worth more than $250,000,000.

“We are obviously going to move to completely dismiss this case. There should be a mistrial based on some of the things you mentioned today that I can’t talk about,” Habba added later. “There should be a mistrial here. Bias in general, I’ll say. There is a judicial code of ethics. Those ethics extend to the entire courtroom and when you violate the rules of judicial ethics there need to be certain things that hold you accountable.”
