Dems Do Not Stand For Kid With Cancer Becoming Honorary Secret Service Agent During Trump Speech To Congress

Democrats attending President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night speech to a joint session of Congress refused to stand when Trump honored a 13-year-old boy with cancer.

Trump addressed the joint session for over an hour and a half, during which he announced that D.J. Daniel, who has been sworn in by over 900 police departments across the county, would be an honorary Secret Service agent. Trump said that Daniel had survived for six years despite being told he had less than five months to live.

WATCH:

“Since that time, D.J. and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true. And D.J. has been sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer actually a number of times. The police love him. The police departments love him,” Trump said during the speech. “And tonight, D.J., we are going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service Director Sean Curran to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”

Video showed that Democrats remained seated while Republicans stood up and applauded, with some of them chanting, “D.J.” as Curran presented Daniel with credentials and received a hug from the 13-year-old.

“WOW. Welcome to the Secret Service, Agent DJ,” Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina posted on X. “Who’s cutting onions?”

The address was marred earlier by Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas being ejected from the House Chamber in the Capitol building after heckling Trump during the speech.

Secret Service’s ‘Inexcusable’ J6 Failures Stem From Much Deeper Problems, Former Agents Say

Leadership that completely ignores field agent concerns, combined with inconsistent communication protocols and a lack of preparation, lead to outcomes like the Secret Service’s failures on Jan. 6, 2021, former agents told the Daily Caller.

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released a report July 31 detailing the agency’s performance on the day of the Capitol riot. A fundamental breakdown in inter-agency correspondence led to disparities in intelligence gathering and coordination between the agency and the United States Capitol Police (USCP), the former agents said.

“The bottom line that caused it all is, whether it’s a combination of the Capitol Police and the Secret Service or ultimately, the entity responsible for protection, were not prepared, or did not anticipate accurately, the necessary manpower,” former Secret Service agent Dean Peterson told the Caller. “Because of it, they were kind of caught off guard, and that led to some poor, in-the-moment decisions.”

The potential for chaos was obvious, however, according to Peterson, which render the mishaps “inexcusable.”

“I’m shocked, I guess, by what the intelligence community may or may not be communicating. I would think … you don’t need to be a part of these things and have intimate knowledge to have this perspective of like, ‘Wow, this is an unusual election circumstance,’” Peterson said.

The Secret Service said they fully cooperated with the OIG and have “taken steps to implement the majority of the recommendations” in the report, according to a statement they provided to the Daily Caller.

“The United States Secret Service (USSS) has a no-fail mission to protect our nation’s leaders. The actions taken by our agents on January 6, 2021 demonstrated their dedication to preventing harm to Secret Service protectees and assisting the U.S. Capitol Police,” the agency said. “We are continually improving protectee operations and benefit from oversight and investigations”

One example of the agency’s shortcomings was allowing Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to come within 20 feet of a pipe bomb at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) building in Washington, D.C, the OIG report notes.

The agency assigned two separate canine teams to sweep the DNC building where Capitol Police found the bomb the morning of Jan. 6 but did not assign an Explosives Ordnance Disposal team (EOD), which surprised agents on the ground, according to the report.

The Secret Service’s Operations Unit claimed that they didn’t request an EOD team because of a Department of Defense (DoD) rule that requires 72-hour advance notice for an EOD. The OIG, however, found seven occasions where EOD support was requested and approved despite being submitted less than 72 hours before a protectee’s visit.

“Regardless if it’s 72 hours or not, the job still needs to get done. If we’ve got a protectee that’s traveling to a location, the whole 72-hour thing, to me doesn’t make sense,” Michael Matranga told the Daily Caller.

The agency’s excuse was strange, Matranga says, and policy shouldn’t get in the way of safety.

A suspect allegedly planted two pipe bombs, one at the DNC and one at the RNC, the evening of Jan. 5, according to the FBI.

USCP received reporters of an “explosive device” at the RNC around 12:42 p.m. on Jan. 6, according to Republican Georgia Rep. Barry Loudermilk. Approximately 20 minutes later, officials discovered there was another “device” at the DNC while Harris was inside.

The violence at the Capitol had begun around 1 p.m., according to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol’s report.

A group of young students appeared to walk in the vicinity of the alleged bomb at the DNC after officials had apparently discovered it was there, footage Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie provided to Revolver News’ Darren Beattie appears to show.

Law enforcement have not identified the suspect who allegedly planted the bombs, offering a $500,000 reward for any leading information.

The disarray is largely due to a lack of leadership, Matranga told the Caller.

“The problem is the 8th floor, which is headquarters. They’re just not listening,” Matranga said. “There needs to be some serious procedural and policy changes in order for them to adapt to the current threat landscape.”

The July 31 OIG report says intelligence agencies compiled an information packet that “contained some information indicating a potential threat against the Capitol” but that the Secret Service did not receive it.

Two Task Force officers from the Secret Service did report hearing “general information” about potential protests, but “nothing out of the ordinary or uncommon.” These officers, however, later discovered they were not included on an email list set up to monitor pre-inauguration threats, according to the OIG report.

Secret Service relies on intelligence agencies like the CIA, FBI and NSA to provide intelligence to them, but the process is far from streamlined, the former agents said.

People assume these agencies play nice, but Matranga told the Caller this isn’t always the case. Sometimes the agencies provide information that’s “very good,” while other times the intel is sorely lacking.

Matranga and Peterson spoke of a need for significantly more efficient communication between the agency and the intelligence organizations.

“The Secret Service, now, because of what they do, has to have a seat at the table … a more prominent seat at the table with the intelligence community,” Peterson said. “Far too many pieces of information do not get appropriately and timely communication, and that’s a huge issue.”

“At the end of the day, this is that breakdown in communication that has been going on for a very long time. It’s jurisdictional,” Matranga said.

Once the chaos began and protesters broke into the rotunda, the Secret Service’s Uniformed Division Chief offered to assist the United States Capitol Police (USCP) with extra officers. The chief then delegated that responsibility to the Assistant Chief, who told the OIG, “[He] thought the Chief requested another USSS official to assist with sending support to the USCP but did not know who.”

Ultimately, it took the Secret Service nearly an hour and a half to deploy additional officers to assist USCP after they initially offered their help, according to the report. The number of officers sent “may not have been the magnitude of assistance leadership anticipated.”

An email the Secret Service’s Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division (PID) sent to the Secret Service director at approximately 3:47 p.m. said they had sent 100 officers to the Capitol and would be deploying an additional 100 “within the next hour.”

The OIG found that the 100 number “far exceeded the actual number of officers that we could verify as present on the scene.” The report also says “Secret Service leadership provided inconsistent recollections of where these estimated numbers originated … ”

“What I have to believe is just either a lie about the available manpower or an egregious oversight of how manpower is allocated as a whole,” Peterson said of the response.

Some officers indicated they could have been better utilized to respond to rioters rather than securing the Dirksen Senate building due to their training and equipment, according to the report. Peterson concurred with their assessment.

“There was a very good group of available officers who could have immediately responded, because they are all trained to do that,” Peterson told the Caller.

Everyone is required to be prepared for civil disobedience, Peterson says, and the lack of additional support left him “a little confused.”

Matranga expressed an agency-wide lack of support in leadership. Peterson echoed that sentiment, noting that the agency may be better off if they cull some of their career bureaucrats.

The OIG made six recommendations to the Secret Service in their report, four of which the agency concurred with. The OIG suggested a reassessment of the Secret Service’s agreement with UCSP, improved policy guidance on requesting Technical Security Division (TSD) personnel, improved policy guidelines on requesting EOD personnel and an adequate procedure for ensuring the agency conducts after-incident reviews, all of which the Secret Service concurred with.

The Secret Service, however, did not concur with two of the OIG’s recommendations. The agency split from the OIG on their recommendations that they develop protocols for providing Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) support to law enforcement and implement training for site agents on directing canine sweeps if there was no TSD on hand.

The agency said it was “opposed to developing and implementing protocols for providing CDU assistance to support law enforcement partners in the National Capital Region, even in the event of emergencies such as those that occurred during January 6, 2021,” according to the report.

“The Secret Service stated its primary mission limits its ability to provide emergency support to other law enforcement partners,” the OIG report notes.

An April 2022 update to the Secret Service’s operational procedures addressed “the need for site agents to be trained on directing canine sweeps” and requested the OIG close the recommendation.

Instead of addressing agents’ concerns, leadership encourages them to try to stretch their current resources, Matranga said.

“We got lucky on July 13. We absolutely got lucky.”

ELECTION INTERFERENCE: Secret Service Threatens Trump Campaign, Demands He Stop Holding Rallies Outdoors

The Secret Service has reportedly told the Trump campaign to stop holding rallies and events outdoors, almost two weeks after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Three people close to the matter, who spoke to the Washington Post “on the condition of anonymity,” said the Secret Service had spoken to campaign advisers about not holding events outdoors with large crowds.

Now we have Secret Service saying they can’t protect Trump.

Tens of thousands of patriots would wait hours for these rallies while the Democrats can barely fill a room. The regime doesn’t want Trump’s outdoor rallies because they show how popular he is.

The USSS is more like the USSR.

Secret Service Threatens Trump: Stop Your Massive Rallies, Or Else

The Federalist: The same agency that failed to protect former President Donald Trump from a would-be assassin’s bullet is now asking the GOP’s presidential candidate to stop holding large outdoor campaign rallies. The request from the grossly incompetent (at best) federal agency stinks of election interference and sounds a lot like a threat.

As The Washington Post first reported Tuesday evening, the U.S. Secret Service is “encouraging” the Trump campaign to halt the large-scale events his supporters have grown accustomed to.

“In the aftermath of the shooting, agents from the Secret Service communicated their concerns about large outdoor rallies going forward to Trump campaign advisers, three people familiar with the matter said,” the Post reported, not naming its sources.

Trump’s team, at least according to the Post story, is scouting larger indoor arenas to accommodate thousands of rallygoers. The campaign “is not currently planning any large outdoor events, a person close to Trump said.”

The Secret Service did not return an email from The Federalist requesting comment, nor did an official from the Trump campaign. So it’s not clear whether the agency has made the same requests of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democrat Party establishment’s anointed fill-in for President Joe Biden after the cognitively depleted executive’s X account posted a statement announcing he is dropping out of the campaign. If the Trump-hating Post asked that question, it didn’t report the answer in its story.

‘Direct Threat’

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., told Fox News that it “would be a shame” if the Secret Service shut down the outdoor rallies.

“I think people enjoy going to them and I think, you know, you can get more people outdoors than indoors,” Comer said. “He attracts a big crowd, obviously. I think the president will do what the president wants to do.”

Others were more pointed.

“If I saw this in The Babylon Bee it’d make far more sense,” Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, mocked the agency on his X account. “The idea that they’d tell Trump to stop holding rallies is embarrassing — for the Secret Service.”

“This is unreal,” Trump backer “End Wokeness” wrote on X. “Secret Service is now asking the Trump campaign to stop doing outdoor rallies. How about you do your f*ing jobs?”

“This is a direct threat from the regime to Trump: if he doesn’t stop trying to win, they’ll make sure the next attacker doesn’t miss. We all know what they’re doing,” tweeted Federalist CEO Sean Davis.

‘I’m Supposed To Be Dead’: Donald Trump Reflects After ‘Very Surreal’ Brush With Death

Presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump reflected Sunday on his “very surreal experience” being shot during a Saturday campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump was the target of an assassination attempt, during which he was grazed in the ear. Trump, reportedly wearing a large white bandage over his right ear remarked to the New York Post he was “supposed to be dead” in one of the first interviews since the near-death experience.

“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” Trump said, the New York Post reported.

“I’m not supposed to be here. I’m supposed to be dead,” the former president continued. “I’m supposed to be dead.”

Trump explained to the outlet his life was spared because he turned his head just in time to read a chart about illegal immigrants. Instead, a small part of his ear was reportedly blown off, leaving blood on his forehead and cheek.

Seconds after being shot, Trump asked United States Secret Service agents protecting his body to let him get his shoes. Trump told the New York Post that Secret Service “hit” him “so hard” that his “tight” shoes fell off. The Republican candidate praised the agents for neutralizing the attempted assassin, who shot at Trump from atop a nearby building.

“They took him out with one shot right between the eyes,” Trump told the outlet, pointing to bridge of his nose.

“They did a fantastic job,” he added. “It’s surreal for all of us.”

The gunman was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, according to the FBI. The 20-year-old would-be assassin was a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania — located roughly 35 miles south of the rally.

An AR-15 semiautomatic rifle was recovered from the scene beside the suspects body, two law enforcement officials told The New York Times. The gun was reportedly purchased by Crooks’s father and explosive devices were found in a vehicle driven by the suspect, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Trump also claimed his doctor at Butler Memorial Hospital never saw someone survive getting struck by an AR-15, the outlet reported.

“By luck or by God — many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here,” Trump said to the outlet.

Trump claimed he wanted to continue speaking despite being shot.

The former president also addressed the photo of himself raising his fist and shouting “Fight!” in front of an American flag, saying “usually you have to die to have an iconic picture.”

As Trump sat for the interview, he reportedly watched footage of the assassination attempt for the first time.

Former Buffalo volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore died as he used his body to shield his family from gunfire at the rally, according to a Facebook post by his family. Trump has thought about attending Comperatore’s funeral, the New York Post reported.

Trump thanked his crowd of 55,000 supporters for remaining calm, noting that shootings at large events often cause chaos and stampedes.

“A lot of places, especially soccer games, you hear a single shot, everybody runs. Here there were many shots and they stayed,” Trump told the outlet.

Trump said he “threw away” his prepared policy-based speech for the Republican National Convention after being shot, the Washington Examiner first reported. The presumptive GOP nominee explained he changed his planned remarks because he wants to “unite our country.”

President Joe Biden called Trump on Saturday evening after the assassination attempt, which the Republican candidate said was “fine” and “very nice.” Trump also claimed that “we hear” Biden will order the Department of Justice to drop its two prosecutions against him; however, there are not yet any public signs of that, the New York Post reported.

First lady Jill Biden also called Melania Trump, NBC News reported Sunday, citing White House officials.

The Republican National Convention begins Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. President Trump departed his Bedminster, New Jersey club for Milwaukee as scheduled Sunday afternoon.
