PRIMARY VOTING INFORMATION FROM KATHY DENT THE SARASOTA SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS

Early voting for the August 30 Primary begins Saturday, August 20 and continues through Saturday, August 27, Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent announced today.

Eligible Sarasota County voters may cast their ballots during the early voting period between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily at any one of the following four early voting sites:

  • Elections office, Sarasota County Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota
  • Elections office, R.L. Anderson Administration Building, 4000 Tamiami Trail South, Venice
  • Elections office, Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami Trail, North Port
  • Westfield Sarasota Square Mall, 8201 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Since Florida is a closed primary state, only voters who are registered members of a political party may vote for the respective party’s candidates in a primary.  All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, including those with no party affiliation, may vote in nonpartisan contests, such as school board races, and on ballot questions, such as Constitutional Amendments and local referenda.

Florida Law requires voters to present photo and signature ID upon entering the polling place and prior to voting. A voter who appears at a polling place without photo and signature ID will be allowed to vote a provisional ballot.

Voters who have questions may contact the supervisor of elections office at 861-8600 or visit www.SarasotaVotes.com.
