I became a voracious reader on the subjects of U.S. and Constitutional history after joining a southeast Wisconsin based citizens rights activist group in the late 80's Called WSEC -WI Society for Educated Citizens, which was a precursor and more or less original template for the later national Tea Party movement, which coalesced in 2009.
During my time as an active member of WSEC our group was well acquainted with our individual rights as guaranteed by the law. Several members of our group posed challenges to federal authority on the basis of breach of individual rights.
At one time during a public protest I was handcuffed by a Federal agent and taken to the Milwaukee Federal Building lockup by a federal agent who I had demanded identification from after a confrontation. While behind bars, I demanded to present a writ of Habeas Corpus to a judge for unlawful detainment and later in the day I was released without charges.
In 2009, I as well as a handful of other Wisconsin citizens took it upon ourselves to launch a recall effort against Governor Jim Doyle, under the banner of Wisconsinites Interests Now-WIN. Doyle was spending WI into the ground and we knew he had to go in order for Scott Walker to move forward as the next Governor. It was approximately an 6 month organizing effort and although we were short of the 12,000 volunteers needed to mount a successful recall drive, we did in fact stir enough grass roots ground swell against Doyle with our list of 7,400 volunteers, that he decided not to run in the next election cycle anyway, which was a win for all Wisconsinites.
I maintain my activism to this date as a prolific FB poster.
