Where Do Dem Presidential Favorites Stand on Israel?

Prominent Democrats considering a 2028 presidential run face a new litmus test: telling the public where they stand on America’s relationship with Israel.

As they check the boxes for 2028 by publishing books, visiting crucial primary states, and booking podcast interviews, here’s where some potential presidential contenders stand on Israel.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York

This week, Ocasio-Cortez told members of the Democratic Socialists of America that she would oppose all aid for Israel, including for defense, as confirmed by her chief of staff.

“I believe the Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement afterward.

“Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law.”

Kamala Harris

The former vice president and Democrat presidential nominee had to deal with the issue of providing aid to Israel in 2024. Harris attempted to distance herself from then-President Joe Biden’s policies while avoiding pressure from the party’s left flank to support an embargo on arms shipments to Israel.

Should Harris once again seek the presidency, she would likely face further questions about the U.S.-Israeli relationship.

Asked in an October 2025 interview whether she believed Israel had committed genocide, she did not directly answer the question.

“Listen, it is a term of law that a court will decide,” Harris said of the “genocide” label.

“But I will tell you that when you look at the number of children that have been killed, the number of innocent civilians that have been killed, the refusal to give aid and support, we should all step back and ask this question and be honest about it, yeah.”

Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois

Pritzker, who is Jewish, has denounced the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, an organization that advocates American support for the state of Israel.

“It became an organization that was supporting [President] Donald Trump and people who follow Donald Trump,” Pritzker recently said. “AIPAC really is not an organization that I think today I would want any part of.”

Several Illinois Democrat candidates for the U.S. House criticized AIPAC by name in recent primaries.

Pritzker has also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing Trump of “simply following Netanyahu into” the conflict in Iran.

Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky

This week, Beshear, governor of the Bluegrass State since 2019, declined to label Israel’s military actions in Gaza “genocide” in an interview with Politico.

“That’s becoming one of those new litmus tests that we said we would never do as a party again,” Beshear told Politico of the genocide question.

“It’s trying to throw out a word and, ‘Are you going to raise your hand or are you not going to?’”

Beshear attempted to draw a fine line on the issue, arguing Israel’s defense of itself after Oct. 7, “could have been done without a lot of the suffering.”

The governor also advocated for “a future with an ally in Israel,” adding, “we need decision-makers there that are not acting the way [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is.”

Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania

Shapiro, who is Jewish, has pushed for a similarly pro-Israel, anti-Netanyahu stance.

“For those who begin by suggesting Israel doesn’t have the right to exist as a Jewish state, I think that is a recipe for permanent war,” he said in a recent appearance on Pod Save America.

Nevertheless, he has defended those who criticize Israel.

“I fundamentally disagree with your viewpoint, but I don’t think you’re an antisemite,” Shapiro said on the “Higher Learning” podcast of those who accuse Israel of “apartheid.”

He added, “I think that you are learning and struggling and grappling with issues that are really, really tough, and you formed an opinion, one that I disagree with, that you seemingly hold very honestly.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California

In a recent interview with Politico, Newsom attempted to stake out a position as a pro-Israel candidate but with qualifications.

Asked if he is a Zionist, Newsom replied, “I revere the state of Israel. I’m proud to support the state of Israel.”

He qualified, “I deeply, deeply oppose Bibi Netanyahu’s leadership [and] his opposition to the two-state solution and deeply oppose how he is indulging the far right as it relates to what’s going on in the West Bank.”

In a February interview, Newsom said he has never accepted money from AIPAC and “never will.”

AOC Moves to Strip Israel’s Defense: Opposes Defensive Aid (Iron Dome) as Missiles Rain Down

AOC has never been a fan of Israel, but until recently, she hasn’t explicitly said that she wants Israelis to die. The deaths of innocents are now just a price Israelis have to pay.

Times of Israel: US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the country’s most prominent progressive lawmakers, reportedly told members of the Democratic Socialists of America on Tuesday night that she would oppose all US aid to Israel, including for defensive weapons such as the Iron Dome missile defense system. The reported comments marked a shift for the progressive New York City congresswoman, who had previously opposed aid that would support offensive weapons for Israel but had not come out against defensive aid. In 2021, Ocasio-Cortez voted “present” during a vote to fund Iron Dome, rather than opposing. Last year, she voted against an amendment that would have cut defensive funding. “I have long stated that I do not believe that adding to the death count of innocent victims to this war is constructive to its end,” she posted on X after voting against the amendment, while also decrying what she called the “genocide in Gaza.” The DSA meeting took place as Iran has continued to shoot missiles, including cluster bombs, at Israel, causing injuries and damage. More than 500 ballistic missiles have been launched from Iran at Israel since the start of the war, with the military reporting an interception rate of 92 percent of attacks heading for populated areas and key infrastructure.

Report: AOC reverses course, will oppose every form of U.S. aid to Israel

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly tells Democratic Socialists of America members she will oppose all US aid to Israel, including defensive weapons like the Iron Dome.

By: Israel National News, Apr 2, 2026:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reportedly told members of the Democratic Socialists of America on Tuesday night that she would oppose all US aid to Israel, including for defensive weapons, JTA reports.

The comments marked a reversal for Ocasio-Cortez, also known by her initials AOC, who previously has opposed aid that would support offensive weapons but has backed allocations for defensive aid, such as to the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Peter Sterne, an editor at City and State NY, was the first to report Ocasio-Cortez’s comments at the meeting, which was streamed online for members only.

The meeting was a forum to determine whether the DSA will endorse Ocasio-Cortez’s reelection bid this fall.

Asked whether she would support an arms embargo on Israel, according to Sterne’s report, Ocasio-Cortez said, “I have not once ever voted to authorize funding to Israel, and I will never. The Israeli government should be able to finance their own weapons if they seek to arm themselves.”

A member then asked her to clarify: “If the moment presents itself in Congress, will you commit to voting ‘no’ for any spending on arms for Israel, including so-called ‘defensive capabilities?’”

Ocasio-Cortez answered, “Yes.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who is a member of the so-called “Squad” of progressive Democrats known for their anti-Israel stance, has a history of anti-Israel behavior, including accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinian Arabs.

She later defended her usage of the term “genocide”, saying in an interview that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has “crossed the threshold of intent.”

Before that, she said that cutting military and economic aid to Israel as a way to signal opposition to Israeli policies should be “on the table.” AOC has also called Israel an “apartheid state”.

Polymarket Releases First Look At 2028 Presidential Odds

The betting website Polymarket announced a “new Polymarket” focused on the 2028 presidential election Friday in a post to X.

As of publication, Vice President JD Vance leads the pack at 27 percent when not selecting for party, with Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom coming in second at 17 percent, according to Polymarket. The site describes itself as the largest prediction market in the world and allows users to “buy and sell shares representing future event outcomes,” its website reads.

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez places third at 10 percent, followed by former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Former Democratic 2024 presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris places ninth at four percent, just behind President Donald Trump, who will be ineligible to run for reelection in 2028 because he will have served two terms.

Among Democratic contenders, Newsom leads the field in betting with a 22 percent chance of winning, followed by Ocasio-Cortez, who has an 18 percent chance, according to Polymarket.

Behind the frontrunners are Buttigieg, with 12 percent, Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro with seven percent and Harris with six percent.

Vance has a clear lead in the betting for Republican contenders at 56 percent, far ahead of second-place Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is at 6%, according to Polymarket.

Vance assumed the post of RNC campaign finance chair in March — the first to hold the post while serving as vice president — setting him up to be one of the primary GOP fundraisers and ensuring he will play a key role in the 2026 midterms and further afield.

The vice president has engaged with mainstream television hosts in viral interviews. He also reportedly played a major role in pushing at least two Trump cabinet picks — Director of Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — through the Senate.

Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds labeled Vance “the leader in the clubhouse” in April, noting that he would be a difficult opponent in 2028.

Newsom has made himself regularly available on social media and in adversarial interviews with people leaning toward the right in what many pundits speculate is a primer for a 2028 run.

He’s also appears to have the backing of a prominent Democrat in South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn. the congressman said he “feels good about” Newsom’s chances at the White House while appearing next to him in an early July event in South Carolina.

Clyburn, who party insiders and media have referred to as the Democratic “kingmaker,” boosted former President Joe Biden’s presidential run in 2020 by endorsing him. The endorsement was a key factor for Biden winning the state’s primary, according to The Washington Post.

AOC compares Israel-Hamas war to Vietnam, says conflict has been ‘generationally radicalizing’

AOC also labeled the Israel-Hamas war a ‘genocide’ and argued that the Democratic Party needs to undermine Israel’s defense efforts if it aims to energize young voters and ‘reinstate an order around human rights.’

During an interview on left-wing internet talk show The Majority Report, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) agreed that the ongoing conflict in Gaza is comparable to the Vietnam War, arguing that America’s strident support of Israel has radicalized younger Americans.

While interviewing AOC, The Majority Report host Sam Seder argued that the Israel-Hamas war is “akin” to the Vietnam War.

Seder suggested that “alternative media” such as TikTok, YouTube, or podcasts, have presented a harshly critical view of Israel’s conduct in Gaza, resulting in a wide-scale radicalization of young people against the Jewish state.

“If you’re under the age of 40 what’s gone on in Israel is in Palestine and Gaza in particular obviously and the West Bank for that matter is very different from your perception if you’re over the age of 40 because of where you get your media,” Seder said.

AOC agreed, saying that she has “said this directly to Democratic leadership” and “ communicated this to the White House.”

“This is our Vietnam. This is our, not just like in terms of the party, but this is just our country’s Vietnam. And what I think a lot of people do not yet understand, is they think that some of these hemorrhages are maybe ideological. They think maybe it is like an ethnic thing. I don’t think there is appreciation yet about how generationally radicalizing yeah this moment is, and how shocked people are at how far just like the general inertia is willing to go, as if we’re not seeing what’s happening right before our very eyes.”

AOC continued, labelling the Israel-Hamas war a “genocide” and arguing that the Democratic party needs to undermine Israel’s defense efforts if it aims to energize young voters and “reinstate an order around human rights.”

Israel says it has gone to unprecedented lengths to try and avoid civilian casualties in Gaza, noting its efforts to evacuate areas before it targets them and to warn residents of impending military operations with leaflets, text messages, and other forms of communication.

However, Hamas, which rules Gaza, has in many cases prevented people from leaving, according to the Israeli military.

Another challenge for Israel has been Hamas’s widely recognized military strategy of embedding its terrorists within Gaza’s civilian population and commandeering civilian facilities like hospitals, schools, and mosques to run operations and direct attacks.

Over the past year, AOC has repeatedly condemned the Jewish state’s response to the Hamas terrorist group’s brutal Oct. 7 slaughter of roughly 1200 people throughout southern Israel.

AOC, a strident critic of Israel, has accused the Jewish state of committing a “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza. She has spearheaded calls for a “ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas.

The progressive firebrand has also urged the Biden administration to implement an “arms embargo” against Israel.

Bush, Bowman, Gay, Kendi. All Disintegrated. Their Commonality? Woke Acolytes Are On The Run

The peak propagators of America’s woke-ist revolution are dropping like flies.

After reaching the heights of cultural status following the 2020 “Summer of Love,” racial lecturers and diversity chiefs are squarely on the back foot as America tires of their divisive rhetoric, analysts told the Daily Caller. Former Harvard President Claudine Gay, scholar Ibrahm X. Kendi and Democratic Reps. Jamaal Bowman of New York and Cori Bush of Missouri have all either been fired, lost funding or lost their Congressional races.

“We are receding from peak racial reckoning,” Wilfred Reilly, a professor of political science at Kentucky State University, told the Caller.

America’s universities were once littered with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) departments. But after the Supreme Court ruled to block affirmative action in 2023, colleges have placed them squarely on the chopping block.

Some states, like Texas, immediately banned DEI offices in higher education.

The University of Texas eliminated approximately 60 of their DEI positions in April, and The University of North Carolina altered requirements for their DEI departments to shift focus to non-discrimination.

The universities’ actions represent a broader trend of race-obsessed instigators appearing to slowly decline.

The Squad’s Dismantling

Democratic Reps. Cori Bush of Missouri and Jamaal Bowman of New York are two of the Democratic Party’s most radically left members.

As members of “The Squad,” an informal name for nine of the House Democrats’ most radical progressives, they’ve been outward proponents of positions like defunding the police and offering reparations.

“It’s Juneteenth AND reparations. It’s Juneteenth AND end police violence + the War on Drugs. It’s Juneteenth AND end housing + education apartheid. It’s Juneteenth AND teach the truth about white supremacy in our country. Black liberation in its totality must be prioritized,” Bush tweeted in 2021.

Her call for reparations is oft-repeated. In 2023 she suggested a $14 trillion price tag for such an initiative.

Bowman has also repeatedly banged the drum for the fashionable far-left salvo of defunding the police.

“Defund the police, and defund the system that’s terrorizing our communities,” Bowman said in 2021 Twitter video.

In 2020 Bush even suggested defunding the Pentagon.

PROMOTING DOMESTIC TERRORISM: The Antifa Bomber hated Elon Musk? Why?

Merriam-Webster Anarchy:

1 a : absence of government
b : a state of lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental authority
// the city’s descent into anarchy
c : a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government

Quote from Willem Van Spronsen’s Manifesto:

i am antifa, i stand with comrades around the world who act from the love of life in every
permutation. comrades who understand that freedom means real freedom fro all and a
life worth living.

keep the faith!
all power to the people!
bella ciao

Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo) posted this tweet after Willem Van Spronsen, 69, a member of Antifa was shot and killed by Washington State police after throwing firebombs at cars and at a federal detention facility on July 13, 2019.

CNN recently aired a documentary about the antifa militia whose member was killed in an ICE firebombing attack yesterday. You can see Mr van Sprossen at the 4 second time stamp in this trailer. https://twitter.com/wkamaubell/status/1124397498389356544

It was Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who tweeted on June 18, 2019,

This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying. [Emphasis added]

Before being shot to death von Spronsen sent his Manifesto to friends (see full text below). Von Spronsen uses the words “concentration camps”multiple times in his Manifesto. Many of the news agencies picked up on this but they missed something more important.

The real reason for von Spronsen’s attack – violent class warfare leading to an anarchist uprising against our government.

Von Spronsen hated successful people among them Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In his Manifesto Spronsen wrote:

fascism serves the needs of the state serves the needs of business and at your
expense. who benefits? jeff bezos, warren buffett, elon musk, tim cook, bill gates, betsy
de vos, george soros, donald trump, and need i go on? let me say it again: rich guys,
(who think your’re not really all that good,) really did government, (every government
everywhere, including “communist” governments,) because they make the rules that
make rich guys richer.
simple.
don’t overthink it. [Emphasis added]

Von Spronsen was not only a member of Antifa but promoted a hate for the successful like Elon Musk. Why? Because the Democratic Party has made class warfare a part of their public policy. Tax the rich to give free stuff to those who can’t or don’t work for it.

Von Spronsen warned in his Manifesto, “beware the centrist.” This has become the mantra of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has abandoned any semblance of being centrist and has gone toward calling for anarchy and attacks on their political opponents. Anyone who supports the President of the United States Donald J. Trump is fair game. Watch this June 2019 video of Rep. Maxine Waters:

Violence begets violence. There are members of Congress who hate America, embrace Americas enemies and support those who would do America harm. This verbal hatred has turned into the firebombing of a federal facility.

Satyros Phil Brucato on his blog wrote:

Unlike the right-wing “patriots” who have turned our nation into Mass Shooter Central this past decade-and-then-some, Will van Spronsen did not unload bombs and bullets at innocent crowds. He staged a militarized attack against a militarized target that has violated national and international laws as well as the rules of decency and the social contract. He has done what our police should be doing, and the fact that cops and this administration continue to protect and justify these outrages is a greater crime than anything van Spronsen committed there.

This kind of rhetoric leads to more violence against “militarized” targets. This leads to anarchy.

Antifa bomber’s Manifesto

there’s wrong and there’s right.
it’s time to take action against the forces of evil.

evil says one life is worth less than another.
evil says the flow of commerce is our purpose here.
evil says concentration camps for folks deemed lesser are necessary.
the handmaid of evil says the concentration camps should be more humane.
beware the centrist.

i have a father’s broken heart
i have a broken down body
and i have an unshakeable abhorrence of injustice
this is my clear opportunity to try to make a difference, i’d be an ingrate to be waiting for
a more obvious invitation.

i follow three teachers:
don pritts, my spiritual guide, “love without action is just a word.”
john brown, my moral guide, “what is needed is action!”
emma goldman, my political guide, ‘if i can’t dance, i don’t want to be in your revolution”

i’m a head in the clouds dreamer, i believe in love and redemption.
i believe we’re going to win
i’m joyfully revolutionary. (we all should have been reading emma goldmamn in school
instead of the jingo drivil we were fed. but i digress.) (we should all be looking at the
photos of the YPJ heroes should we falter and think our dreams are impossible, but i
double digress. fight me.)

in these days of facist hooligans preying on vulnerable people on our streets, in the
name of the state or supported and defended by the state,

in these days of high profitable detention/ concentration camps and a battle over the
semantics,

in these days of hopelessness, empty pursuit and endless yearning,

we are living in visible fascism ascendant. (i say visible, because those paying attention
watched it survive and thrive under the protection of the state for decades. [see howard
zinn, “a people’s history of the united states.) now it unabashedly follows its agenda with
open and full cooperation from the government. from governments around the world.

fascism serves the needs of the state serves the needs of business and at your

don’t overthink it.

(are you patriots in teh back paying attention?)

to my comrades:

i regret that i will miss the rest of the revolution.
thank you for the honor of having been in your midst.

giving me space to be useful, to feel that i was fulfilling my ideals, has been the spiritual
pinnical of my life.

doing what i can to help defend my precious and wondrous people is an experience too
rich to describe.

my trans comrades have transformed me, solidifying my conviction that we will be
guided to a dreamed of future by those most marginalized among us today. i have
dreamed it so clearly that i have no regret for not seeing how it turns out. than you for
bringing me so far along.

i am antifa, i stand with comrades around the world who act from the love of life in every

audio manifesto: theSuper8.bandcamp.com

don’t let your silly government agencies spend money “investigating” this one. i was
radicalized in civics class at 13 when we were taught about the electorial college. it was
at that point that i decided that the status quo might be a house of cards. further reading
confirmed in the positive. i highly recommend reading!
i am not affiliated with any organization, i have disaffiated from any organization who
disagree with my choice of tactics.
the semi automatic weapon i used was a cheap, home built unregistered “ghost” ar15,
had six magazines. i strongly encourage comrades and incoming comrades to arm
themselves. we are not responsible for defending people from the predatory state.
ignore the law in arming yourself if you have the luxury, i did.

when i was a boy, in post war holland, later france, my head was filled with stories of the
rise of fascism in the 30’s. i promisted myself that i would not be one of those who
stands by as neighbors are torn from their homes and imprisoned for somehow being
perceived as lesser.
you don’t have to burn the motherfucker down, but are you just going to stand by?

this is the test of our fundamental belief in real freedom and our responsibility to each
other.
this is a call to patriots, too, to stand against this travesty against everything that you
hold sacred. i know you. i know your hearts, you see dishonor in these
camps. it’s time for you, too, to stand up to the money pulling the strings of every
goddamn puppet pretending to represent us.

i’m a man who loves you all and this spinning ball so much that i’m going to fulfill my
childhood promise to myself be noble.

here it is, in these corporate for profit concentration camps.
here it is, in brown and non conforming folks afraid to show their faces for fear of the
police/migra/ proud boys/the boss/beckies…
here it is, a planet almost used up by the market’s greed.

i.m a black and white thinker.
detention camps are an abomination.
i’m not standing by.
i really shouldn’t have to say any more that this.

i set aside my broken heart and i heal the only way i know how-by being useful.
i efficiently compartmentalize my pain…
and i joyfully go about this work.
(to those burdened with the wreckage from my actions, i hope that you will make the
best use of that burden.)
