VIDEO: Watch Our 2022 United Nations Address On Uprooting Human Trafficking & Sexual Exploitation

Our Vice President of Impact, Helen Taylor, gave a bold and eloquent address at the United Nations, laying out what needs to be done to uproot the trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of vulnerable women and children.

Helen has worked with thousands of victims and survivors around the world and has trained over 3000 individuals in outreach to victims of the sex trade. She drew upon this real-world experience in her address:

“Women have told me of near-death experiences at the hands of traffickers and sex buyers.… being thrown out of cars… I’ve heard from survivors who have been thrown from three-story buildings by sex buyers after refusing a sex act. I know one survivor who had facial reconstruction surgery…

No matter the cultural expression, one thing remains consistent: the sex trade is an industry of violence and inequality against women and children, often the most vulnerable and marginalized.”

Helen boldly advocated for the Abolitionist/Equality Model of law, which is designed to hold traffickers, pimps, and sex buyers criminally accountable, while offering exit services and resources for survivors. It is a first step to effectively uprooting this global predatory industry.

The Abolitionist/Equality Model is a critical law that we need to see enacted across the US and in countries around the world, because it’s the most effective legislative solution to ending sex trafficking.

In 2023, we’ll be pushing for this very legislation in strategic governmental arenas and we’ll be training a team of abolitionists in how they can help to get this law passed in their states and countries.

Passing this law around the world would protect MILLIONS of women and children from trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
