Understanding Why Banning Words is Worse than Burning Books

“The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect.” — George Orwell, 1984

“Where they ban words, they will, in the end, ban human beings too.” — Dr. Rich Swier, Ed.D., LTC, U.S. Army (Ret.)

Language is changing before our very eyes. Some see it happening, others ignore it and others are behind it.

In his dystopian novel 1984 George Orwell wrote,

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

Words can and do kill. To understand on New Years Day 2023 in New York City a Muslim attacked and wounded two New York City police officers with a machete because he believed “they were enemies of the state.” This provoked attack can be linked directly to the Black Lives Matter slogan “defund the police.”

Words do matter. Lives are at stake.

The Government’s “Healthy Youth List” of Words

Today we see the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) urging teachers to change their “terminology” by avoiding gendered language and using certain words, pronouns, when addressing their students. For example, the CDC has deemed that “boyfriend and girlfriend” are now passé. The correct newspeak is “partner.”

The CDC Terminology website states,

Many terms are associated with sexual and gender identities, and terminology continues to evolve. Below are some of the terms currently used by the Division of Adolescent and School HealthThis list and the definitions offered may change over time. [Emphasis added]

Terminology evolving is, in effect, banning some words and replacing them with others.

The CDC even has it’s own “healthy youth” list of approved gender terminology. The CDC has replaced male and female, man and woman with Heterosexual or Straight. The CDC has added a new government approved lexicon of words: Bisexual, Cisgender, Gender Nonconforming. The CDC has also added several acronyms like SGM (sexual and gender minorities) and SMY (sexual minority youth).

BTW. These terms, and others, are referenced in the American Psychological Association’s Definitions Related to Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity for schools and the World Health Organization’s Glossary of Terms and Tools.

Each of these terms is a myth. Those who use these terms willingly or by government mandate or coercion are promoting myths, which are the true enemies of the truth. Myths that do not scientifically, socially or culturally exist.

Gender, via DNA, is binary “X” for Male and “Y” for Female, any other terminology is designed to erase the truth and replace it with the myth. One cannot change their gender or DNA. Some self-mutilate, either chemically or physically, in a failed effort to be something that they are not.

This is the real human tragedy of the 21st century.

Banning Words and the Burning of Books

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum reported,

On May 10, 1933 student groups at universities across Germany carried out a series of book burnings of works that the students and leading Nazi party members associated with an “un-German spirit.” Enthusiastic crowds witnessed the burning of books by Brecht, Einstein, Freud, Mann and Remarque, among many other well-known intellectuals, scientists and cultural figures, many of whom were Jewish. The largest of these book bonfires occurred in Berlin, where an estimated 40,000 people gathered to hear a speech by the propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, in which he pronounced that “Jewish intellectualism is dead” and endorsed the students’ “right to clean up the debris of the past.

[ … ]

Such barbarity was just the beginning, however. One can see in retrospect how the book burnings and other steps to remove “Jewish influence” from German institutions foreshadowed much more catastrophic Nazi plans for the Jews of Europe. Eerily, among the books consigned to the flames in 1933 were the works of the nineteenth century Jewish poet Heinrich Heine, who in 1822 penned the prophetic words, “Where they burn books, they will, in the end, burn human beings too.”

[Emphasis added]

As we enter the year 2023 and we are witnessing an acceleration of the banning of words.

The U.S. Marine Corps. is actually considering ending the use of the terms “sir and ma’am” so as not to “misgender” a superior, i.e. one who doesn’t self-identify as either a man or woman.

Banning words is worse than burning books.

QUESTION: Why?

ANSWER: The banning of words allows government to then ban ideas and ideals and then implement absurd policies, that once were considered unthinkable, which have now become the law of the land.

For example:

First ban the word, then the symbol, then its people and finally the nation.

Ayn Rand wrote, “The uncontested absurdities of today are the accepted slogans of tomorrow. They come to be accepted by degrees, by dint of constant pressure on one side and constant retreat on the other – until one day when they are suddenly declared to be the country’s official ideology.”

We are now at a time in America where banning words are the new normal. It is called newspeak. If you do not comply you will be ostracized by family and friends, banned from social media, fired, imprisoned, tortured and, yes, even murdered.

The words “Diversity”, “Inclusion” and “Equity”, or DIE, are now the basis of all public policies. A trifecta of evil.

The goal today is to achieve one party rule forever. A party whose single goal is power, only power, power for its own purpose, absolute power.

We at DrRichSwier.com exist to contest these uncontested absurdities. Our contributors speak truth to power!

If we don’t then America will truly DIE.
