OUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION: I will only judge people by the content of their character, nothing else!

“The best index to a person’s character is how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and how he treats people who can’t fight back.”Abigail Van Buren

“Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.” ― R.J. Palacio, Wonder

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” — John Wooden

We, the 30 contributors, editor and staff at DrRichSwier.com are making our New Years Day resolution.

It is a simple resolution, one best said by Baptist Minister Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during his 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech to 250,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

Dr. King, Jr. said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

We too have a dream today that we will all join together and only judge people by the content of their characters.

We must not judge by a persons skin color, sexual orientation, political affiliation, personal beliefs, religious beliefs or social standing.

We cannot be fooled by the myths of diversity, equity and inclusion.

We cannot condone nor be part of any culture that does not have equal justice under our laws.

We cannot allow our emotions to overtake our logic, science and beliefs.

We must judge ourselves, and one another, by one thing and one thing only — CHARACTER!

Mark Twain wrote, “It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare.”

We the people must have the moral courage to not judge others by the color of skin but by those qualities, those unique characteristics, that truly make us all equal.

Sophocles, Antigone wrote, “All men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, and repairs the evil. The only crime is pride.

We all make mistakes, but we must not yield to evil. Pride is a “cultural virus” that must be cured with the one and only cure — character.
