Trump Delivers LARGEST Drop in Violent Crime on Record

Administration Releases Crime Numbers: Largest Year-to-Year Decrease in Violent Crime on Record

The Largest Annual Drop in Violent Crime Ever Recorded:

Violent crime plunged 9.3% in 2025 — the largest annual decline on record.
Murder dropped 18.1% — tying the lowest rate in recorded history.
Robbery fell 18.5% — resulting in nearly 38,500 fewer robberies.
Rape declined 7.6% — resulting in more than 10,000 fewer victims.
Aggravated assault fell 7.2% — resulting in over 62,700 fewer attacks.
Property crime dropped 12.4% — the second-largest decline in history, with nearly 750,000 fewer offenses.

These numbers — in line with the Council on Criminal Justice, Major Cities Chiefs Association, and many other sources — mark the decisive reversal of the crime crisis Democrats left behind.

Meanwhile, preliminary data for the first half of 2026 shows the decline continuing and deepening, with violent crime down an additional 10.6%, murder down another 23%, rape down 18.6%, and robberies down 19.6% compared to the same period last year.

Under President Trump and Director Kash Patel, the FBI has unleashed unprecedented enforcement:

Nearly 54,000 violent crime arrests (up 90%), including more than 31,000 violent criminals and gang members (up 30%).
Nine of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives captured — more than twice as many as during the entire previous four-year Administration — alongside four of the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters.
More than 5,000 child predators and human traffickers arrested (up 13%).
More than 11,000 child victims located and identified (up 21%).
Record disruptions across criminal, cyber, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and international operations — taking down hundreds of cybercriminal enterprises, espionage rings, and terrorist networks.

President Trump backed law enforcement, empowered the FBI to hunt predators instead of political targets, and rejected the failed Democrat lunacy that left communities reeling. The results are clear: fewer murders, fewer victims, and safer streets.

The FBI started keeping track of the numbers in 1936. This is most marked decline recorded since that time.

FBI: The data support the previously released violent crime trends:

Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter offenses decreased an estimated 18.1%.
Rape offenses decreased an estimated 7.6%.
Aggravated assault figures decreased an estimated 7.2%.
Robbery offenses decreased an estimated 18.5%.

CBS: Ali Bauman reports from Newark: Recent data shows Newark saw the largest decline in homicides among major cities in the country, down more than 64% for the first half of this year compared to that period last year.
