Abdul El-Sayed’s Sister: ‘My Family Has Long Been’ Muslim Brotherhood

The political aspirations of someone from a Muslim Brotherhood family are those of the Brotherhood.

Abdul El-Sayed recently claimed that he isn’t connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. His sister, however, begs to differ.

“My family has long been MB,” Abedlhadi wrote on June 24, 2012, days after Egypt elected Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi as president. “I have had family jailed for being a part of it,” she wrote on July 3, 2013. “Praying for all my family that supports the #MB in Egypt. Lie low, stay safe” she said.

Not exactly surprising consider Abdulrahman Mohammed El-Sayed’s political pedigree, his ties to Islamist groups in America that were set up by the Brotherhood, the vanity medical degree (Brotherhood members commonly go in for medical and engineering degrees that they don’t use and then recruit in those fields) and the social justice slogans that are of the variety that Brotherhood front groups like to use.

Why is this a big deal? Two of the better known Brotherhood splinter groups are Hamas and Al Qaeda.

Notably, as El-Sayed’s sister implies, this is something that runs in large families. The Arab world is very tribal. The Muslim Brotherhood isn’t just a political affiliation, it’s a series of extended family power blocs. And it’s rather unlikely that Abdul El-Sayed isn’t a part of it. These people marry within these same blocs. And they pursue its agenda because that is also a way of rising to power.

The political aspirations of someone from a Muslim Brotherhood family are those of the Brotherhood.
