Obama backs DSA radical Angie Nixon as Pres. Trump, Gov. DeSantis endorse Ashley Moody

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Former President Barack Obama is throwing his support behind Florida Democrat Angie Nixon in the U.S. Senate race, urging voters to back the state lawmaker as Election Day approaches.

Obama praised Nixon’s work as an organizer and state lawmaker, citing her support for a $15 minimum wage, efforts to protect access to books, and opposition to Republican-led congressional redistricting.

“That’s why I believe Angie will be an outstanding U.S. Senator,” Obama said in the video. “So cast your vote for Angie Nixon on or before November 3.”

Nixon is challenging Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, who was appointed to the Senate by Gov. Ron DeSantis in January 2025 after Marco Rubio left the seat to become U.S. Secretary of State.

Moody has received endorsements from President Donald Trump, Governor Ron DeSantis, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for Florida governor.
