The Long Road Back

Given the 6-year terms for the Senate, the GOP wipeout could lock Republicans out of Senate power until 2032.

The bottom line  — Conservatives must plan for a multi-election-cycle comeback.

The Conservatives never get huge chunks of time like this. We had two years that Thune and his cabal of turncoats squandered.

Given the 6-year terms for the Senate, it may be 2032 before the GOP has an opportunity to take control.

WATCH: Ron DeSantis on the current state of the Republican Party

Ron DeSantis: Dems will get 55 Senate seats and 250+ House seats.  Looking at the Senate map and considering such a massive House margin, it is very unlikely Republicans will recapture the Congress in 2028.   Might not have a shot at Senate control until 2032.

More from DeSantis, via Fox News: DeSantis predicted that in the 2028 election cycle, “You are not, as Republicans, going to be able to retake the Senate under this current map just two years from now. “And with all the House seats that have been done, probably not viable to take that back as well. So this is really going to have an impact,” DeSantis added. “Two years, four years, six years, maybe even longer before Republicans could exercise unified control in Washington again like we’ve enjoyed over the last two years”.

Hugh Hewitt: Realism is the best medicine for a party after a “thumpin”.
